finegamingconnoisseur only used and referbs nothing new but i remember having the r2 and it was pretty dope on 2017, I'm glad I found one for a decent price too. Most of them sell for almost $2k.
Bruhh I don’t know why but your voice calms me down and i feel all good. But anyways what is the point of the amplifier? I have the alienware 13 r3 with i7 7700hq/ gtx 1060 6gb/ 8gb ram, and i can run new games above 60 fps high/ultra.
you can use the Alienware external GPU box with any thunderbolt connection. There are lots of examples on the youtube. And it gives better results then Razors unit and alot cheaper. OLED is very new and we will see that in many expensive items like iPhone 8 coming with OLED screen soon, but you cant really compare with the 4k screen on xps 15 OLED will beat it all the time hands down. Just needs a little adjusting colour correction possibly. OLED is the future.
For me the XPS 15 4K it suits my needs of video editing 4k and 13 inch is a little small for me to edit video on. If your a primary gamer though the Alienware is the way to go.
Hi there, after tweaking with my 13r3 to brightness 0-25%, under power saving mode for daily youtube, webbrowsing and microsoft office usage. my 13r3 only last me up to 3 hours on a single charge. How's yours? Do you know any tips and advice to get more hours out of it? Also i would like to ask you about your experience with the AGA. How's the noise level? do you think it's a wise choice to use 13r3 with AGA as desktop replacement? the 13r3 is a little too heavy as my daily driver and the battery life issue is putting me off.
Yer, if your gonna get an amp have you considered a 13 inch like XPS 13 and then using a eGPU or is it for gaming on the go. How loud it is (amp) will depends on what graphics card is in it.
Yes i thought about it. But i got the 13r3 for about a year now and im thinking of using it as a desktop replacement with the AGA. was wandering will it be a good idea or am i better off by selling it off now.
The strix card you have installed says its 11.6 inches long on the spec but the Alienware FAQ's say it should be no bigger than 10.5. Did you have to make mods or somelthing?
Well I'm already happy with the 13 R3 OLED, as you well know - it's a gorgeous bit of kit. I've got an Oculus Rift so I'm thinking getting the amplifier would make for a great portable VR set-up. Another great video by the way, really enjoyed it!! :D
Howdy mate, still can't decide if I should get the 13 OLED, I think the screen is too small, especially in that side by side shot with the XPS 15, What do you think about the screen size?
+Ahmerd Ash It's ok if you're right in front of it. If 60fps 1080p high settings on most games is enough get the Xps 15 if your a hard core gamer get the Alienware 13. Let us know which way you go
I have an AW 13 R3 1060 6gb oled, and was planning on getting an AW amplifier and put another GTX 1060 6gb in it as I'm on a budget. Would it even be worth it? Using it for VR.
hi, I'm thorned in between Razer blade stealth and Alienware 13 oled. Razer blade stealth pro: light weight, i7 and 16gb con: should not be able to handle gaming. not so future proof. expensive Razer core Alienware 13 oled pro: integrated graphic card. no concern in terms of performance. cheaper external graphic compatibility con: weight my concern: will it be able to handle web building with wix, slots of video and pictures. Auto Cad, photoshop, work and some light gaming. what would you suggest?
+Lawrence Law If your only a light gamer there are better laptops like the XPS 15 that can game most modern titles at 1080p high setting. It will handle all your needs too. If you must get a gaming laptop The Alienware will be better as you need autocad and photoshop and the Alienware has a quad core and graphics but honestly the XPS 15 seems like a better choice or if you want a 13" with graphics the surface Book with performance base
Razar blade stealth is designed for small ability usage. It is not made for intense gaming unless you buy optional hardware to counteract it's small footprint (Aka you need a Laptop cooling pad, and duel exhaust fans.) This REQUIRED. Unless you plan to deal with the small form factor the razar has, which increases the fan speeds/noise. Alienware 13 is larger, and has larger vents, reducing the need for much higher fans at lower task needs. If you plan gaming large scale. Alienware, If you plan on light taskes and always on the go, Razar. If you want Quiet system. MSI titan laptop. As the larger thicker you go, the better vent cooling you get and reduce noise.
Just to clarify were you able to still use internal 1060 GPU on the 13r3 even with AGA? I found my 15r3 could use both (essentially 2 GPU ie device manager could see both the internal 1060 and external 1080Ti) but not my 13r3 with OLED. My 15r3 had the 60hz GSync IPS panel though.
Western Gents United I was basing it on ur comment at 6:00 that u had internal GPU temp of 50 degrees. I figured u would only be able to know this if the internal GPU was also detected. I miss having two GPU as it actually made things smoother with dual screens.
Titan X no problem. GTX 1080Ti it touches but you can force it closed and any Gigabyte Xtreme graphics card it will not close. 2 slot cards will be fine
If I connect the laptop to my tv and get an Xbox one controller can I play games on my 40 inch tv without losing frames compared to on the laptop monitor?
Western Gents United other than gaming Im into programming and 3d modeling. So Im planning this to be my daily driver seeing how durable alienware laptops are. im really cautious about the menu bars and everything. because my note with oled has terrible burn -in issues.
On my A13R3 with VSYNC turned on in some games I get a weird line from the top left to the bottom right where they don't refresh at the same time. When I turn off VSYNC then it goes fine and I get no screen tearing. Very strange.
I haven't a clue. It is apparently a thing. If my FPS are over 60 or under 41 then the diagonal screen tearing doesn't occur but if I turn on VSYNC it holds it at 60 and then I get the tearing. It's extremely noticeable where sometimes the two are showing almost totally different scenes.
@@AbulaSyllabus Apparently it was a driver issue with Optimus. I've no longer experienced this issue after a driver update at some point which I don't know.
I really wanted to like the graphics amp, but it's really a mediocre piece of hardware. The PSU's fail left and right, and mine actually fried its own USB port when I tried hooking up an Oculus Touch roomscale setup to it.
Really? For the longest time I thought they have and only those that have gsync don't. Please check it, I don't know where I can see for answers. Thank you very much! :)
I feel so jealous because I'm getting the Alienware 13 but with the 1080p panel and everybody is saying how good it is and I'm sad because I can't get it beacause it's too expensive
Well its is good not gonna lie but I did love the FHD Alieaware 13 too. Its one of those things it wont bother you if you have a iPhone until you see a Samsung display.. Be happy champ you have a great laptop.
no there's no task, just chrome watching youtube and browsing the web... I also found that when my battery is charging, the bottom gets real hot (maybe 70-80), but the cpu and gpu seems to be at normal idling temperature. Is this normal?
Ok you better sort that. I would say critical is when the CPU shuts down not throttles. Throttling will probably start at 94C although the review unit would not throttle it was happy to go full noise at 91-92C.
I cringed too. Laptop shouldn't be going any higher than 80C. If it goes any higher then you need to thermal paste your laptop or call Dell to do it for you too. Even Dell would disagree with you and tell you your laptop is too hot! Thumbs down to your vid for not listening to others.

con: should not be able to handle gaming. not so future proof. expensive Razer core

Western Gents United thanks. but I'm only choosing in between Razer stealth and AW13. does the battery difference that much?
+Lawrence Law I would go the Alienware just because of the graphics card and battery life will be a bit better on the Razer

+Wildzorn Yes the noise is less obviously but if you have a loud graphics card?
Western Gents United point, but i could place the amplifier below the table. How long is the cable?
+Wildzorn Yer you could for sure. It's long enough to do that
Does the setup allow it to output it to an external monitor instead?
+WOWCRITS Yes 100% you can do that.

Does the kabylake model have good thermals?
Yep this one was good. No 90C in this unit

Oh No
What about refresh rate, is 60hz enough ?
Well it has a super fast response time. I guess it depends what type of games you play. certainly FPS high refresh is better.

are you worried about oled screen causing burn in ?
I have not noticed that on my Samsung but a PC might be different with so many static screens but I guess as a gaming laptop it might not be a issue.
Western Gents United hope not, otherwise I'd go with ips screen but I bet it's not very color accurate
does this laptop suffer from screen tearing?
If v sync is off yes. You will notice this more on a oled display because its response is so fast. Its not a fault
I cringed when you said 90C isn't critical... 91-92C is when most intel cpu's start thermal throttling to prevent damage, i'd say that's critical.
