being a former canadian base-brat, i can relate to this talk of not fitting in, as a result of moving around. i switched schools after K, after Grade 4, after Grade 6, after Grade 9, and after Grade 11. going into grade 12, as a new kid, was the hardest of all my moves, followed by moving after Grade 9. in Canada, back then, schools were divided into K-4, 5-6, 7-9, and 10-12. the school organization is different now. i always made friends, but to this day, i still find my relationships to be short-term, and not like those who i knew, who basically stayed in the same town, in the same same schools as their freinds, from K-12. i am thankful, however, in hindsight, that all that moving around made me more adaptive to change than those that remained in place.

Thank your mother for me. She is so right when she stated alcohol changes peoples personality. My parents were angry drunks. And she stated something about how those memories stay with you from childhood. My parents alcoholism changed who I was meant to be. The damage it does to a childs future is so unfair. I cant get past how a person can make a choice about how they choose to live their life and by doing so it changes the people around them. So not by my choice but someone elses choices my emotional stability and life is forever changed. Alcoholism is such a selfish disease. I am so happy you are putting light on something that is not discussed much. It is important to talk to the people who love you and show the potential damage that someones drinking can do to others. You are helping to show people who continue to drink what the future looks like if you continue with this behavior. Thank you and your family and friends. You are amazing!

Thank you for that. I really appreciate it. Thank you for watching and for letting me know that these videos are helping others. I did get sick because of my choices and that is why I am trying so hard to keep others from walking down the same path as me. It's not something that j want to see anyone else have to go through. I know I am just one person, but together, we can make a difference. Thanks again! God bless

My Dad's family was all big drinkers --- but all the cousins put the uncles on pedestals // lots of denial --- the men were narcissist blow hards full of themselves ... my own father was alcoholic // put us through hell with his womanizing, drinking and abandonment -- OF course every guy I picked was alcoholic OR had problem drinking --- OF course I became alcoholic --- it takes a brave one to end the generational cycle of dysfunction

Thank you for this video. You're moms grandfather sounded so much like my grandmother. She was a mean alcoholic but stopped drinking completely before I was born. My mom told her, she wouldn't be allowed to be around me if she was still drinking. She chose family thankfully and I always knew my grandma as being so warm and loving. She said she did have delirium tremens so bad it also scared her sober. She said she saw snakes coming down from the ceiling at her.

I think we are close to the same age and have some similarities in our upbringings. My dad and grandpa were alcoholics as well. And I made mention to you previously that my daughters dad, my ex, was a drinker and abused pills also.
So again, I’m looking forward to the rest of y’alls conversations, and those of other guest.

It was wonderful to meet your mom on here. I can tell she is your rock and so glad you have a good support system. I can relate to being a mom of an addict my son is doing really well. It's been ironic that I am the one with Cirrhosis and never drank, did drugs, or had hepatitis. Life is strange but I am glad his liver is good. I had my appt. Today at UNC Chapel Hill it went well. I had some of my questions answered and of course need to make some decisions about my future. A living donor was a very good option for me down the road. My MELD score was 18 a little higher than I realized, but we're gonna try a few things and in the meantime time I'll be deciding about a transplant. He was very good didn't rush me and answered my concerns. Like I said I feel really hopeful for now. Hug your mom for me so sweet of her to share with us. God Bless You and look forward for the next videos, they are very encouraging. 😊

Hey there. I am so sorry about everything you have going on. That's a lot to have going on. That's so horrible that you got cirrhosis and never drank. I really hope things begin to improve for you soon. I have heard great things about that hospital. Friend of mines dad had lung transplants done there and lived for another 10 years after. He had nothing but great things to say about that hospital, so I think you're in good hands. Will you keep me posted on how you are doing please? Thank you for all the kind words. My mom will se your comment. I know she will appreciate it. I hope you are feeling ok. I know the struggle, it's always an uphill battle.
