such a small detail but it was so cool to include the 2005 clip of frank drafting the stamped lava spike. huge props to whoever decided to dig for that clip!
Absolutely. I would occasionally look down at the time of the video and be like "oh, okay, we're like halfway through, he's gonna win game 2 bringing it to a tie" but no, plot twist!
It would be super cool if you included more post-game chat like this in your newer videos too. I don't think there's any better way to learn new things about magic than to watch two Pros sit down, jam a game, then sit there and talk about what just happened for 10 minutes. Also the spoiler buffer would be pretty cool on the new best-standard-deck series
We usually avoid doing this because the amount of clicks on videos suffer the longer it is. But wif we ever get to a viewership like Game Knights, then we could look into doing this :)
I've only started playing recently, so I dont know anything about these big name players. However, the editing for those matches is what keeps me coming back as someone who doesnt know anything about a lot of those cards its nice to have time to read and hear what the strats and thoughts are for players.
Hugely agree, one of the biggest things that drew me to this channel was that as someone who only started playing in recent years I didn't know much about formats that utilised a lot of older cards and combos, and because of the steep learning curve due to the sheer number of decks and cards over the longer time period, largely ignored these formats completely. Cardmarket provides a great entry point to these formats with the explanations of what the cards do, what the deck strategies are etc. and the little sidebars during the game where players discuss their hand and plays are always super interesting and insightful. Hope you guys keep all this going 🙂
A great veedeo with great decks with great players on a great channel???? What's not to love! Seriously Cardmarket, you guys consistently have the best production value in the MTG TH-cam space, I look forward to your videos every time they come out.
It was so cool to see these two play against each other, and the whole discussion at the end was super interesting! That Orvar was insane. Really loved this! And they're so fun and nice with excellent vibes, just had a great time, smiling through all of it!
I really appreciate the "I want to punish all the fetching in Modern" approach. Thank you for the video, I was smiling all the time during both matches :)
I love your videos in general, but this might be my favorite. Both of them are great at commentating, I loved Frank's acting when he was playing Boros Charm and Andrea asking to see the stamped Lava Spike, and the post-game discussion was really interesting.
I LOOOVE the casual friendliness and generall joy and fun of your channel! The people you have are so inceredible nice! Unfortunatelly I got some sour experiences watching the prof and his playgroups with a lot of toxic trash talk. You also have trash talk, don't get me wrong, but it is always more lighthearted. So, I am glad I found your channel! Kudos!
I think one very important lesson to learn in mtg is to not chase the win. What you did here was analysis the choice before the event and say yes that was right, rather than picking the right choice in hidesight. Anyway another good video.
Holy Moly you got Frank Karsten. That is even better than Carl vs. Jamin sry. :P I remember reading in paper magazines of Frank Karsten yeeears ago like 2000's when he played Enduring Ideal!!! ^_^ With form of the dragon if I recall correctly So great you got him on the show!
We unfortunately can't 😅 we learned from this video that we get terribly punished for it. 80% of the viewers click off once the match ends and youtube assumes that it's a terrible video since almost no one watches till the end, thus hurting our algorithm
This is one of the best mtg channel at the moment. I love watching the gameplay. More commander gameplay please. Also bring Anika back and some female players to match the guys' banter
Cardmarket content, the best side you can get for your lunch..! :) PS: That Orvar in game 2 was absolutely hilarious. Great bluff (and sneaky SB card) by Frank.
Really enjoy all the content on this channel. Especially the matchups, because you have such great players. Including top players from tournaments is definetly a big plus!
Lol - sorry, was there a game one? I blinked, and seem to have missed it 😅. Seriously, though, loving the presentation (fab as always), the games were AMAZING, and the guests were top-notch! I would request if possible to see some more pauper (best format, don't @ me), but I'm down for whatever else you have planned.
One of your best video. The fact that you can see the hand of the players in real time helps a lot. I also really enjoy the debrief. Keep it like this please! I would like to see Yellow Hat next ^^
@@CardmarketMagic OMG thank you, you're awesome. May I say I like the recent video better because : - You introduce the players (tournaments win etc) for some context. - There is no funky rules like "no ban list". I want to see real format because I'm eager to learn Magic (I only play for one year) Peace :)
I realy enjoyed the video and the discussion at the end! Still, I would suggest playing a third game just for fun :) This is no tournament setting and I'm keen to learn more about decks in action.
People ask for this every once in a while. Problem is, the edits and animations for these videos take days to make. We already have a problem with people skipping game 2 when they see that the video goes on for longer, we definitely know people would stop watching during the "game for fun" as there are no longer any stakes. I can't afford to spend an extra day working on a game that everyone will skip :/
@@CardmarketMagic That's sad, but totally understandable! Your production really is great, but obviously that always comes with a lot of work too. Anyways, thank you for all your effort! :)
I’ll admit that I’m one of those people that checks the timestamp to see who wins (I always watch the whole video though as it’s both entertaining and I love you guys!) so I was legit thinking “wait, how does Mengucci get out of this so the game 3 happens?” lmao
Hmm. Makes me wonder what kind of creativity your pros can come up with, if they're given a budget to work with. E.g. what is the best deck they can build for €50? €100? €200? €300? Where would they spend their budget, and how? Do they start with the best pauper deck and substitute in one ofs, or do they substitute in multiple bulk rares or mythics instead? Might make for an interesting deck tech video.
Thank you! Unfortunately, this is the video that taught us never to do it again 😅 95% the people clicked off the video halfway through, which led youtube to think it was a bad video and generally stopped showing it to people
Play Affinity in Modern! So much good looking tech just released in Brothers War for it. My list is Jeskai for Thought Monitor, Galvanic Blast and Dispatch. Having a lot of fun in MTGO with Etched Champion and Patchwork Automaton in the main deck, effective modern budget deck!
A little creation of mine Gleeful rebirth - 4 monstary swiftspeer 4 gleeful demolition 4 kuldoltha rebirth 4 goblin grenade 4 lighting bolt 2 chromatic star 4 darksteel relic 2 bone saw 4 light up the stage Main strat is to target darksteel relic with gleeful demo, because you get the goblins even though the relic doesnt die
Just a suggestion but if you used a custom card maker for planewalkers( you only need to make the) top textbox that you show you could not show like the tip of teferis head or something.
Is the Orvar just in the sideboard specifically as a counter to knowing that Andrea has Archon in the deck, or would he keep that in the sideboard anyway?
Frank added the Orvar to the sideboard because he knew he was playing vs Andrea, who is likely to play the best deck in modern. Nonetheless, he explains in the video that it's currently a good Meta call :)
🐉🔥 Decklists: bit.ly/3Tb0To8
such a small detail but it was so cool to include the 2005 clip of frank drafting the stamped lava spike. huge props to whoever decided to dig for that clip!
That Orvar was absolutely insane lol, imagine playing against a burn deck and they suddenly discard a freaking Orvar.
What you did with the last 10 minutes was brilliant and totally fixed the biggest issue your videos had up until this point. Genius
Absolutely. I would occasionally look down at the time of the video and be like "oh, okay, we're like halfway through, he's gonna win game 2 bringing it to a tie" but no, plot twist!
very good idea to include the buffer at the end so we don't get meta spoiled, appreciate it!
I mean who the heck would expect Orvar in Burn? 😂😂
this is a bit cheesy. No burn deck has that standard. Frank the cheesy nerd!
I love the sideboard commentary, probably my favourite part. Please never take this out ;)
It would be super cool if you included more post-game chat like this in your newer videos too. Whoever edited this did a good job it was very fun, and such an interestingly fast game excited to see more of these two this month.
I'd agree except for the 2 minutes of blank screen they left at the end 🤣
Burn really out her living up to it's "Sock full of pennies beatdown" legacy, but Frank hid an Orvar shaped fire cracker in his. XD
I've only started playing recently, so I dont know anything about these big name players. However, the editing for those matches is what keeps me coming back as someone who doesnt know anything about a lot of those cards its nice to have time to read and hear what the strats and thoughts are for players.
as a new player, Frank Karsten's articles on mana bases are the best place to learn how to build decks when you want to step up your game

I love how sideboarding happens 5 minutes into the video, you know its going to be a good one
A great veedeo with great decks with great players on a great channel???? What's not to love!

Frank Karsten is an amazing player, i only found out about him recently and love his articles. Also nice new look Carl!
boarding in a card no burn deck ever in his sideboard is just cheese
I really appreciate the "I want to punish all the fetching in Modern" approach.

Awesome inviting Frank Karsten, he is a friggin legend of the game.

It's only up there for a second, but at 14:15, it says Frank has to sacrifice a creature or 'Planeskwalker'!
I love the extended conversation! and totally appropriate for the video/match! thanks for keeping it in for us!

I LOVE the after game chat, it gives a great insight into the game
As someone who studies the game very heavily I loved the analysis by the players

We'll accept it 😃 we feel the same about Frank
I really appreciate the conversation buffer at the end so you couldn’t tell who won! Please do more in the future

That was so awesome to include the buffer, completely subverted my expectations. Also definitely sideboarding Orvar in my lists now!! Fantastic!
This is one of the best mtg channel at the moment. I love watching the gameplay. More commander gameplay please. Also bring Anika back and some female players to match the guys' banter
We need to find female players in Berlin who know magic, if you have any to suggest :)
Cardmarket content, the best side you can get for your lunch..! :)

So sneaky but I could not atop smiling when editing it, Frank is just so earnestly happy :D

Frank Carstens articles made me a better magic player! Thanks for the calculations
Love these guys! Always love fun magic gameplay, and when its played well its even better. Great video

@@AndreaMengucci Sweet! Thanks so much, I'll be waiting on tenterhooks! 😁
I’ve been reading Frank’s articles FOREVER! Great job getting these two to play. Love the channel.
mengu the best guy no cap, everytime you come around the videos are special
Only half way through but definitely looking forward to more videos with both Frank and Andrea, excellent personalities.
15:39 message - ty!
Cardmarket feature match: nice.
Cardmarket feature match with Frank Karsten: double nice!
The format and production quality of this video is outstanding. This should be the new gold standard for Constructed content on TH-cam.
This is such a good channel. Top gameplay, deep insight, and *always* good vibes. 😘👌
Came for the match, stayed for the discussion at the end. Love both of them, and that article is also in my bookmarks.
simply two of the most charismatic, passionate players in History - what a great video. great way to show a paper game by the way
CRAZY GAME!!! And I loved the discussion afterwards!
One of your best video. The fact that you can see the hand of the players in real time helps a lot. I also really enjoy the debrief. Keep it like this please!

We already recorded many videos with Gabriel Nassif a few months ago :)

Y'all should play sacrifice goblins
specifically this Deck
3 Goblin Chieftain
3 Hobgoblin Bandit Lord
4 Goblin Warchief
20 Mountain
2 Conspicuous Snoop
3 Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin
3 Krenko, Mob Boss
4 Goblin Matron
2 Mirror Box
2 Muxus, Goblin Grandee
4 Skirk Prospector
2 Mirror March
3 Rundvelt Hordemaster
2 Wily Goblin
2 Weatherlight Compleated
3 Pashalik Mons
Also now that it exists over the top got thrown in for fun since this deck excels at making nonland permanents which also function as mana sources.
This video is criminally underviewed. That Orvar was incredible.
I’ve always had Searing Blood in my sideboard for Legacy Burn, but now I guess I have to for Modern also.

nice with the clip at 10:20 to see some history
Speaking of Changelings like Orvar, I would love to see the Magda Changelings list (the not Yorion version because of reasons)
OMG! So nice play with that Orvar! Congratulations to Frank! :)
Great video! Not what I was expecting haha
Nice to meet u guys, hope to see u play more, got to go fast ,first game down
So nostalgic to read the italian names on Andrea's cards ^^
Play Affinity in Modern! So much good looking tech just released in Brothers War for it. My list is Jeskai for Thought Monitor, Galvanic Blast and Dispatch. Having a lot of fun in MTGO with Etched Champion and Patchwork Automaton in the main deck, effective modern budget deck!

You'll get so much more Frank 😃 we promise
Cardmarket is an amazing channel
There is no greater feeling than orvaring an archon. I did it to my friend and it was the greatest thing ever.
Ohh, so that's why you are playing fiery islets, to cast Orvar :D
I honestly prefer you guys playing eachother. Familiar faces and all that.
The video length absolutely got me
Frank is an Hero. Particular remember him playing the greater gifts deck
Absolutely insane!
How about some duel commander next time on this channel?
They had great chemistry, lotsa pros don't.
A little creation of mine
Gleeful rebirth -
4 monstary swiftspeer
4 gleeful demolition
4 kuldoltha rebirth
4 goblin grenade
4 lighting bolt
2 chromatic star
4 darksteel relic
2 bone saw
4 light up the stage
Main strat is to target darksteel relic with gleeful demo, because you get the goblins even though the relic doesnt die
Great idea at the end, youtube should add a feauture to hide the total for some kind of videos though
Also Andrea was soo unlucky these games, the opponent has 1 counter in the side deck and hit his, he had like 8 and never hit one :S
Good job with the effect, love how u blow up the cards so we can see ,I used to play standard all the time, good time
humans

That orvar was hilarious, who would expect that in burn?
Your content is so good i will now subscribe, like and watch all your stuff and also Menguccis workshop
I don't know the players, but I am generally amused by concept of the video
Carl you look real good with the glasses ;)
His face when the Orvar was revealed was so good.
givin me some flashbacks with those sleeve colors 👀
Wish they would have picked a much closer matchup. Creativity VS Titan or Scam are very technical and interesting matches.
That Orvar thing is one of the best MtG things I've seen in my life
14:24 please tell me you have this saved as an image somewhere

Pooooooog !! Mengu pengu in da house!!!
Amazing content guys
Frank Karsten saying that he didn’t play Ragavan for the card advantage is the most based thing I have ever heard in my life.
How happy were you when you saw the Ovar trick was going to work? :p also, nice touch with the extra 10 min in the video.
Wait, but orvar doesn't need to be in play to activate that effect? It says when you discard a card, not if you discard a card
It says when a spell or ability causes you do discard orvar you get a token of any creature
How do other burn players feel about people recently taking eidolon out for more burn spells
I’d love to see Frank play his 2005 gifts deck again from the worlds top 8
great video!
Hi can you do modern restore balance cascade next?
Do you have a decklist for us? It'll have to wait a while though, we just recorded a bunch of content with our guests 🤠
