Hey guys! The deck just arrived this morning. Thank you so much! It was a blast watching Jamin play it and topdecking the Elder Spell was just the icing on the cake! :D
Scrolling down to see if someone had commented on the Boseiju fetch was not a great idea with this spoiler at the very top 🙈 Sweet deck, though! That Elderspell topdeck was just perfect
Far as I am concerned, Cardmarket videos could be Jamin and Carl, playing Modern daily and I would be happy and watch every one. These 2 guys together is awesome.
I had to pick the deck before seeing what I was playing against. Making the Jund deck too bad with the older, true-to form, cards would have made for poor content if the winning deck was something like Tron. It's still the midrange version of the Jund colours, which, for entertainment purposes, is Boomer Jund :)
I played against a mardu pyromancer list back in 2018 in a modern tournament with my boomer B/W tokens list, so yeah it's definitely straight outta 2018 aha
@@zets8238 Late 2017 was when I first got serious about playing Modern. It was a much simpler time, we didn't have modern horizons and rotation back then.
@@brettvandermeer5297 That era of Modern otherwise known as the "Golden age" or Pre-FIRE design is what people on the internet sarcastically refer to as "Boomer" decks, so yes it is a boomer deck.
Just got back into mtg after a couple of years away and WOW this channel is awesome. Love your energy, the explanations of your thought process and the overall production! keep it up guys!
Hey all, just learned this neat interaction the other week and I figured I would share. 21:59 In game two, when Carl used boseiju on the hearse, Jamin tutored a basic mountain. With boseiju you can actually search for any land card with a basic land type. These being plains, island, swamp, mountain, forest. So triomes and shocks can be found among other lands. A nice little leg up over a basic.
Finally some 2021 love for MarduPyromancer! With DRC's release, ive been playing the deck at the moment at my local LGS and its honestly pretty sweet. Solid, fun, Terrible T4 deck. The only upside is it has a good match up into murktide.
I feel like it used to be pretty good when faithless looting was still legal, right? Just that continued source of draw-discard. Those Boros charms and surgicals looked pretty bad in this version as well, not only against Jund. Is Cathartic Reunion really the only way to fill the graveyard for reveler and souls?
@@couchpotatoe91 i find with DRC, you have enough self mill where the flashback for the souls is just an added bonus in a deck with 7 cantrips. Drc is the only interaction I run, but by casting souls+smiting helix twice i get two pz and drc triggers which lets me two for one often and get extra value. If your asking for discard outlets although, seasoned pyromancer, magmatic channeller and collective brutality although ive cut all 3 (but brutalities in the board) as they really don't provide enough value.
Seriously this was quite exciting! Well played and well done. I'd love to see more play content like this, maybe even using spelltable? It would be fun to see cardmarket fans playing fun rounds with you guys, we have a lot of commander shows that are tons of fun, would be great to see some produced by cardmarket as well.
You asked for opinions on the 31:50 Inquisition. I would have taken the 'goyf. That would rob Carl of his good turn two play. Whereas Charm and Pyromancer are both 3 mana card advantage spells, so kind of two of the same. Considering Jamin needs time to set up his Revelers in hand I see it as another arguement to take the pressure in the form of 'goyf. Though for reasons beyond my comprehension Carl paid off the greedy play to take a card advantage spell by turn two casting Kroxa anyway.
I'm only halfway through the video, but I love how much fun these two are having with these games. Just feels like playing some games with friends on the weekend. Love the energy Carl and Jamin have here!!
This is the kinda of channel that, even being already subscribed, everytime you guys ask for me to subscribe, I try to do it again. Great content guys.
Great video as always. Love the editing and your enthusiasm. I have seen enough tryhard / bad mood modern players in my lgs ;D nice to see you have fun!
@@hermelin12 Yeah Jamin has some crazy plays sometimes. Did you see his bluff against Eli Loveman in game two of the last pioneer video? I'm proud to work with that guy! -C
New to the channel and i gotta say, the games between Carl and Jamin are some of my favorite things ive seen on youtube in a while, quality content homies 🔥
At 40:00 I think the Cathartic Reunion should also get shuffled in. The Emrakul trigger goes on the stack, and then CR finishes resolving and as an SBA goes to the yard. Then the Emrakul trigger resolves and shuffles it in
I started watching you recently and binge watched so many episodes, the editing is top tier! One suggestion I have for possible growth of the channel is to do this kind of giveaway but have cta for watchers to comment/subscribe/share etc and giveaway deck to one of them too, I think this would help your engagement a lot. Tbh not sure how it could work with deck tech, maybe giving away 2 decks but that seems too expensive for the video. Maybe just a card market gift card of 30-50 for viewers would work too. Not exactly sure but this is seriously one of the best mtg channels out there and I hope you grow more!
Thank you for the kind words! We are actually considering having people be subbed (or at least comment) next time to be eligible for the deck giveaway. There were so many incredible submissions that we wanted to play, but we don't have the budget to do all of them... - C
Really nice video as always! Just I really wanted my deck to be chosen... Maybe for next video you can pick two other decks from the budget decks we sent you and make them fight each other just for fun 😊
I only play EDH but I have to say I've found your channel about a week ago and I've been enjoying the content a lot. Whoever comes up with the ideas for these shows is super creative... Kudos to you guys and do more AI generated gameplay plz!
Really loving this content! The only thing I would like to see tweaked is how large you display the cards on either side of the screen as they are being played. I watch a lot on my phone and it is just barely too small to read some of the card text. It’s been a while since I’ve played magic heavily so I’m a bit out of the loop.
I know I preach commented but a few changes. Moderen Merfolk: 20 island 4 mutavault 4 aether vial 4 curse catcher 4 tide shaper 4 master of the pearl trident 4 lord of Atlantis 4 kopala warden of the waves 4 spreading seas 4 spell pierce 4 silvergill adept Plz use this
these videos are great. some decks I would love to see are werewolves because I think the day and night mechanic is cool and landfall because of druid class and phylath world sculptor.
45:20 Carl could've wrenn6+wrenn6+ragavan, kill 1 spirit & pyro (with 2 walkers) & use monkey to block hearse, survive on 2 life (or more if wrenn&6 is attacked).
I do have an opinion about that inquisition lmao I think the better play would have been kroxa instead of seasoned pyromancer, because it preserves your hand and it'll be a minute before the Kroxa comes online also takes away the turn two baring a good topdeck
start of video : eliminate and elderspell main seems nasty against Jund. Weird premise also because Jund is the kind of deck that has to shape itself to the meta ... so being the deck in the dark, yikes. Hope its not a blowout. end video : was fun to watch.
I haven't finished this video yet but I stopped just to say that at least I know what's the strongest card in Carl's deck. That would be the credit card.
In game 1 the storms wrath wouldn't have killed the goyf. After storms wrath revolves, state-based effects would have saved the goyf, because Wrenn would be in the graveyard, making goyf a 4/5.
There was already a Nahiri in Jamin's graveyard, so another planeswalker hitting the graveyard would have changed nothing for the Tarmogoyf. Also, if a Tarmogoyf had 4 toughness at the time some global damage spell hits it and some other stuff for 4 like Storm's Wrath does, then everything that dies dies at the same time, so there's no timing window for the 'goyf to grow in toughness and survive. If the Wrenn and Six dying would have grown the 'goyf as suggested, for example, that would not have saved this 'goyf, as the state-based action that destroys the Tarmogoyf for having lethal damage (704.5g) and the state-based action that destroys Wrenn for having 0 loyalty (704.5i) occurs at the same time as per rule 704.3: "Whenever a player would get priority (see rule 117, “Timing and Priority”), the game checks for any of the listed conditions for state-based actions, then performs all applicable state-based actions simultaneously as a single event."

This was more like Millennial Jund than Boomer Jund. The Pyromancer deck was the actual Boomer deck, it looked like a deck from 2018.
