Amazing vid. Thoralf is a great host, Gabriel is a great guest, both amazing players, pioneer, educational, decks... Everything awesome. Chef's kiss
Couldn't agree more
Legends!
this is great magic content. usually when you watch someone strem you only learn how to play one deck. here you learn 2 at the same time :)
Glad you enjoy it!
I love this video format. Great tips for new players combined with great matches. Keep em comming!
That is the plan!
Please more Pioneer Matches :)
Shout out to the production team, really impressive! Keep up the great work!
Bois this is supreme Magic content. I have been going through and binging yall’s content and it has just made me crave paper magic more and more. Keep it up, seriously really good stuff.
Thank you! That is very kind of you to say :D
The editing on this viedo is so slick. Great job, thank you for the high quality content.
Our pleasure!
Thanks! It’s nice to see pioneer making a comeback and that you guys are making some great pioneer content :)
Glad you enjoy it!
37:46 exactly how I feel every time I draw negate late game against UW control!
Nassif on the full control train. I love it!
Great content as usual, shout out to the editors for the great work !
We will let them know!
Keep these coming guys. They're great!!
You are great!
Great seeing both of these amazing players here!
We got very lucky!
I have been watching all of yalls videos sincei found this channel about a weak ago Great content you are are so awsome
Thank you :) I'm happy you enjoy. We put a lot of work into our videos and have a lot of fun making them!
This is excellent content. Easy to follow and great tips from pro players. Would love to see you guys try out a Grixis Lutri deck in pioneer :)
Great suggestion!
Risky play, but Thoralf could've silenced in game 3 before his Ascendency for potentially the win. Good matches overall, it's nice to see some pioneer content.
I assume you mean when he had 7 mana and Nassif only had otherworldly light. The Silence had to go last to trigger ascendency to untap the lands. If you play silence first, resolves, then you play Ascendency and Awakening, whets untapping your lands? If you play Ascendency after silence,, then Awakening, the Ascendency triggers, untapping your creatures but at that point you don't have creatures yet, then awakening resolves and all you man lands are tapped. If you play awakening first, you don't have a non creature spell to trigger Ascendency.
@@KennethSue With our perfect knowledge of Nassif's hand (31:55) the play was Awakening 1st, Ascendancy 2nd and then Silence 3rd.
Awaking - Animate your lands
Ascendancy - Set up the combo
Silence - Untap your lands, giving you 7 3/3's
Nassif's worst play is to March ascendancy and die to 21 power on board and his best play is to March 2 lands w/ Thoralf then presenting 5 3/3's or 15 damage
Assuming he makes the best play and exiles 2 lands, Thoralf should Fry the 1/1 Soldier giving him 5 4/4's for lethal damage.
Great video! Pioneer content is much appreciated!
That kind of comments is much appreciated too!
Another great video! 👍
Love watching pro players with tier decks on this channel!!! Great content :D :D :D
Glad you like them!
Absolutely loved this video
Yes please more really good to learn as well the decks to play
Here for it!
Great video!
Ascendancy combo has been the only deck I play in pioneer and I loved seeing it on here and piloted at such a high level, reminds me of how fun the deck is in control matchups and not only scamming people out turn 4 lol
Pioneer is great! I love spikes rakdos artifact sac list! Highly recommend it.
HOT DAMN WHAT A MATCH
I'd love to see mono Green devotion. It's everywhere atm
Amazing video ! Keep going
Thank you! Will do!
This video is Amazing. PLEASE keep more Pionneer !!!
Pioneer power!
This was such an intense match.
Jund Food is kind of a pet deck of mine, highly recommended!
I love this kind of content! I'm wandering why it has so few views
Same here! Do no thesitate to share our videos!
Please show the new calobrated blast deck 😏
It's been 9 months, but if you see this, I was wondering if Jeskai Ascendancy could run with a cheaper mana base? I bought the cards to build the deck but the lands are more expensive than the whole rest of the deck, so I skipped most of them and was looking for budget alternatives.
It sounds weird to say, but good mana is almost more important to the cards. Not only just for winning (as you will more likely get to play your cards on time) but also for how much fun you have at the game (because you!ll have less feelbad situations where you can't cast your cards). If you don't want to spend the big bucks on boring shock lands or pathways (which I can perfectly understand), I'd at least recommend some guildgates and and cycle lands (like irrigated farmland) 🙂
@@CardmarketMagic Thanks! It makes complete sense.
Toffel is questing beast 💪🤣
Loved the game play.
"Silence! I keell you!"
Really well done video, I pretty much exclusively play mtga arena magic, so seeing this from a top down perspective was certainly interesting. I still prefer the way arena displays your cards but I can see why some people would prefer table magic. That said watching this at 1.75 speed I can safely say arena does allot of the hard micro work for you.
Indeed!
Decklist suggestions: Jund Death Shadow with Tarmogoyf in Modern or Mono Blue Spirits in Pioneer!
Have you got a list to provide us?
Thoralf had the win the last game.
He even commented on the only play that stops him😂
If he cast Sylvan first then the ascendency, it would jave resolved and he could have cast silence to untap all his lands to become 3/3s, get a free loot, and possibly another trigger
7 3/3s is still lethal.
Game 3 was so riveting
7:49 looks like an anime draw
Someone should play something crazy with aetherworks marvel! Maybe with genesis ultimatum ?
9:26 how did that happen? Didn't that creature had hexproof?
Aether Gust can target spells on the stack.
Why you don't play your wandering emperor game 2 😢
More pioneer please!
Being someone who has very limited experience playing formats other than commander, I love these videos due to how easy it is to get into them without knowing anything about the format's metagame and you guys are able to just explain it and make it make sense as it goes. Love the cut aways to the players talking through their decisions and this is honestly some of my favorite Magic content out there right now. Strangely enough, binging these videos has made me realize that I like watching control get played way more in 1v1 formats for whatever reason.
UW control all the way
All the way! All the format!
35:37 how did he play memory deluge on upkeep before untap?
It's an instant, and yellow hat untapped then casted memory in response to Silence
@@forever915fulbut how did he untap? Wasn't it on upkeep before untap?
@@DefCatofficial upkeep is after untap
please more pro vs pro videos!
Great vid, sending love and support 🙃 can you play a ninjistu deck or a treasure token deck i would really like to see how any of those will play in modern
Have you got a list to send us ? Love!

really good episode
Did thoralf make a Jeff Dunham reference?
Did Thoralf really just make a Jeff Dunham joke?
Huh.
Try some budget cycles :D
I love devotion decks
26:31- 26:37 is the best
Game 2: Funny that Thoralf has 2 "Ketria Triome" in his Starthand and than plays them and they are "Raugrin Triome" 😅🤣
32:33 no thoralf its not disgusting. it is aethergusting
Seeing that Shark Typhoon cycled hurt me on a deep level, damn
Why non-yorion UW?
Have you got a list to give us?
@@CardmarketMagic Most of the lists making results on MOL are UW yorion 80 cards lists. I like more the 60 cards, and was surprised to see Nassif playing this 60 cards version here. Would be possible to give any thoughts on which one is the correct one to play?
The wandering emperor could have exiled the creature that stopped non-creature spells from being countered game 2
Any day control loses is a good day
100% you play the awakening first

I was going to pick this list for net week's modern match because it looks so fun, but it's unfortunately not legal in any of the formats we play :0
- Carl
@@CardmarketMagic so sad but the non legal cards can be substituted though
17:47 why is thoralf intentionally taping his cards the wrong way?
He played the uw control deck so poorly it triggered me. Tapped out vs combo decks to make tokens. Countering expressive iteration instead of saving them for combo pieces. You don’t have to do anything vs combo as control just save your counter spells for their win conditions and let their deck fizzle.
It's your opinion vs the one of Nassif, pro Tour player for years and player of the year in 2004. I'm gonna trust what he is doing over what some internet troll is saying
@@siradzki5905 Nassif played like trash fan boy
Gabriel “yellow teeth” Nasir
Extremely low level play from a hall of fame player. Gabriel used to be good but this looked like some new player who’s never played control before. 0 thought into his plays just randomly cast spells.
