Ferrari has been saying for years that when properly cooked, six-cylinder power can get the job done. Love the song that 296 GTB is singing. Yes, the 296 GTB is expensive but this is the best looking Ferrari I've seen in some time, and may be worth every penny for the lucky person wealthy enough to cover the price tag. For now, I'll rewatch this video and listen to the music of a Ferrari in the hands of a driver who knows that a good car + twisty road = the good ol' days are Now! 👍👍
Haha, I just react and sometimes the things I say, in retrospect, are never expressions I utter in my daily life. That's how I know it was a good drive 😆
WOW!!! I am not a Ferrari aficionado but this car leaves me speechless. I do like the design and think it's sleek and elegant looking. What a great in-depth POV drive review. Thanks, MPH!
I've been waiting for this video! 296 is probably my favorite car on sale today. It's just stunning to look at and the performance is mind blowing. Not completely sold on the whole hybrid system and dial-less/buttonless interface yet, but that seems to just be a sign of the times. Overall, a masterpiece. Only question is GTB or GTS and what shade of red---or wait for the inevitable "speciale" type version that is sure to come. Can't wait to see what McLaren offers as a 720S replacement, as the Artura isn't really a direct competitor, price wise. Until then, what really compares to this its segment?
Man I love the 812...but it's a completely different driving experience. The 296 GTB would run circles around it (though everyone would be straining to hear it in the wake of the GTS's NA V12). I kinda liked the Rosso Imola - not quite as "in your face" as traditional Ferrari red. I'm super excited for the 720S replacement as well, and the Lambo Revuelto. True the Artura is a step beneath, so the 296 GTB is in something of a solo class...for now.
Almost same for me, to me the only better car on sale is the 812 GTS but thats it. The 296 handles extremely well thanks to the V6 (compared to V8, V12s). Also sounded way better than Roma / F8. Artura is actually good tho but still the 296 is just better.
I actually found the steering wheel to be really interesting and unique. Instead of cluttering the dash of the car, they made a bold move by increasing the gauge screen and integrating all your controls on your wheel. It's def weird, but also because it's a one of kind approach. Visually, it just looks stellar to have the decluttering of all the basic controls, because most the time you only really adjust them once or twice anyways
I've never been a fan of current Ferrari's (488, F8, Roma, Portofino etc) but this 296 GTB is just amazing. They got the design and performance right, plus it sounds great even though it's a V6. it's sad that such a special Ferrari has these awful buttons that are a nightmare to use.

Save for the nonsense that is those steering wheel touch controls, I think Ferrari have nailed this one. Looks gorgeous with the nice classic proportions and sounds out of this world with it. Also kudos for the filming of this clip! Theres a real sense of the rabid frenzy like acceleration and performance of this car- through the lens- that is most captivating!
If I'd buy a Ferrari, I'd buy the F8, simply because I find it better looking than the 296. The usability of the 296 is very charming though, especially with the addition of performance and the sound. If I had to decide between the competitors however, I'd buy the Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica. It's NA, it's basically a more road-focused version of the STO, it's wild, but not too much, it's extreme, but it's also beautiful. I'm sadly a very easy catch for commercials, so the promo video for the Tecnica would be enough for me to buy it... "How would I describe him? A Prince, supremely elegant, always in control...his ideal weekend? Zipping off to the ocean. Come saturday, the track's the only thing for him...The person he hangs out most with? Himself! His favourites: rock 'n roll, opera, and jazz...His leather jacket is his uniform...Definitely a good guy!...He's a mistery to me...He drives a Lambo! He drives a Lambo...He drives...a Lambo. He drives a Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica." And yes, the promo of the Lamborghini Revuelto would also be enough for me to instantly configure and order one for myself if I had the money. That car became my 2nd dream car after I saw it. The first is still the newest (2019+) Aston Martin Vantage.
Awesome car. Great vid. If I had $250 - $350k burning hole in my pocket I’d go McLaren. $100k for the prancing horse + soundtrack is too rich. Sides you’re not getting this unless you buy a Daytona or F8. Which adds another $250k to the price tag.
I dissagre about one thing. Hybrid sports cars doesn't mean that N/A power trains is gone i think just the oposit. Hybrid system gives as a much more place for sports high reving N/A engines. I think porsche 918 is great example and then lamborghini next model with N/A V12 + hybrid system. I really belive that hybrid system are great for N/A power.
Still depends on the brand. Like McLaren will keep using their V8 / new V6 and won’t build a NA engine. Ferrari will only build the next gen hypercar with hybrid NA V12. 812 replacement model (NA Roma) is not likely to have a hybrid system. As for Lambo we all know the Revuelto have that hybrid system. Next gen’s huracan will have turbocharged V8 hybrid but the turbocharger only kicks in after 7000 rev or something like that. Porsche, mainly going EV. Not likely to build a new engine. NA only stays for their 911 GT models I believe. Just have to accept the fact that turbocharged is already something we cannot get away with😢
True. I think the struggle is going to be finding a way to keep weight down. Forced induction and electric hybrids makes sense because then you can keep the displacement and cylinder counts low (and cut out weight) because the EV's batteries are adding a lot. The Revuelto, as you noted, it not going to be light with its NA V12 + electric powertrain. I'm SUPER glad they're keeping a V12, but from an engineering standpoint, it's working against physics.
The last Turbo S I had was the lightweight model with stiffer suspension - didn't love the ride. The 296 GTB (esp in Bumpy Road mode) is among the nicest riding supercars I've ever driven - along with the McLaren Artura and Acura NSX
Great review as always. No other reviewer gives you a turn indicator and horn sound test. 😂 I'm confused about these hybrid functions. If you charge the battery to full and only ever drive in IC mode and never in EV mode, does the car maintain the battery? Like as in non plug in hybrids like Toyota Camry? Or do you still have to regularly charge the battery even if you never drive in pure EV mode?

do the p1 asap..
I am more of a fan of earlier Ferraris with less gadgetry and more driver involvement. Maybe F430 and before and especially the 328 era. Or of course the old v12s. They are so raw and visceral. This thing seems like a souped up hot hatch.
Hot hatches (typically 4-cylinders) have never sounded this charismatic. I wasn't kidding when I said you can hear the essence of V12 in this sound.
@@MilesPerHr I felt like it sounded like the fake noise piped in on a variety of models. I think Ferrari has been doing it for awhile now. I agree that the real sound of any turbo model hot hatch or other is generally pretty bad, hence the “need” for augmentation.
It’s cool you get to drive cars like this. Btw: you are cute♥️
I think the 458/488 was the direction to go with design the sf90 and 296 are mid af but the f8 aint bad either. They have the v12 design down though 812 gts 10/10
She’s quick that’s for sure
