It really doesn't. Really. Some girls will guilt-trip you and all, but there's no sudden link reversal or broken links. Everyone just keeps going buddy-buddy with you.
Izanami-No-Okami's weird form derives from the tale of Izanagi and Izanami, part of the creation myth in Shintoism. Izanagi and Izanami, firstborn gods and husband and wife, generated many gods through their union, but Izanami died during childbirth of Kagu-tsuchi, the incarnation of fire (which is why Izanami is covered in bandages and more and more shed during the fight, she's a burn victim. Also, according to the Kojiki, she allegedly transferred her soul to a human before dying, which is the basis for the title of the series, Shin Megami Tensei, meaning "True/New Metempsicosis/Reincarnation of the Goddess"), so after furiously murdering Kagu-tsuchi and tearing him into 8 pieces, Izanagi took a journey to Yomi (the land of the dead) to retrieve his lost wife. Izanami, desperate for her fate and believing to be lost, ate the cursed fruits of the Yomi, and became one with it, meaning she could no longer leave. When Izanagi found her, she attempted to deceive him to let her out, but when he saw the horrific form that Izanami had taken after eating the fruits of Yomi, he ran from her, chased by her ghastly form, and sealed off the entrance to the cave that led to Yomi, separating the world of the dead from that of the living. Izanami screamed from behind this impenetrable barricade and told Izanagi that if he left her she would destroy 1,000 residents of the living every day, so he furiously replied he would give life to 1,500 residents. Even the name of her dungeon, Yomutsu Hirasaka, translates to "Slope to the underworld", replicating the journey of Izanagi to Yomi. After being to Yomi, Izanagi performed a ritual cleansing, creating many other divinities, including Amaterasu, Susanoo and Tsukuyomi. This is why the Personas (Personae?) of the Investigation Team are all based around the Shintoist pantheon, as they all technically achieve their awakening through the help of Yu, whose Persona is roughly the Japanese equivalent of Zeus, and it's also the reason behind the name of Inaba's high school, as Yasogami means literally "eighty gods", referring to the Shintoist pantheon.
This a great explanation, thank you I want to add another detail, but I havent't played Persona 3 or 5 (yet) so I might be wrong (also please don't spoil me those) The video says that in Persona 3 your initial Persona is Orpheus... Which drew my attention because Orpheus and Eurydice's myth us surprisingly very similar to Izanami and Izanagi's, despite belonging to very different cultures... I mean, they're about a couple of lovers, the female dies, the male tries to bring her back from the underworld and fails miserably, so she stays there having lost her personhood Am I reading too deep into this?
Fun fact: the reason adachi doesn't take a lot of damage from physical attacks is because his persona has a hidden resistance against physical attacks that cuts damage in half
@@arifsalahudin6673 yep, take an example, Pralaya is the strongest non multi-hit Phys attack in the game, and it has the base power of 2200, while Morning Star, the strongest Almighty attack, has the base power of 440 (Almighty cannot be amp and boost in this game btw). Other strongest elemental spells have the base power of 400 at most. Since P4G use a special calculation for damage, the real damage value is based on the squareroot of the move's base power. They’re just teenagers being teenagers and all. I also like how this game goes to extremes of being dark and being lighthearted
ive always liked persona for the interpersonal teenage drama of it all not necessarily the battles, interesting to see a lot of people hold the opposite opinion
That’s what makes it my favorite persona game in the series. Mostly because it can be very bright and light hearted at times then all of sudden gets really dark and then back.
Feels strange to see a lot of people who obviously got this video in their recommended rather than knowing Nyarly prior via the Megaten fandom Some people play persona primarily as an rpg with social Sim aspects rather than a social Sim with rpg components, and therefore they don't really enjoy the scenes where the story takes a backseat, as they view it as filler and essentially as the game just forcing them to mash through the dialogue until the story can progress and get to the fun part where they get to kick shadow's shins in. Different tastes, essentially.
1:02:57 Considering that both Narukami and Kanji's Personas have Electricity Resist, and both Yosuke and Teddie's Personas are weak to Electricity, clearly Marie knew who was really at fault there.
@@RamesesBolton same with p3 fes and portable. I kept my orpheus all the way through but never used him. then with portable, he was my main fire persona
It’s possible teddies shadow might’ve been possessed by another part of the sagiris. Rise detected strange interference when teddies shadow emerged. Not to mention his shadow keeps going on about keeping the truth shrouded in fog. And that’s what the sagiris wanted to enact keeping the masses lost in ignorance as per their wish. The kunino sagiri took over namatame and controlled his shadow in a similar way. Then ameno sagiri took complete control of adachi in the final fight. The reason yu got so sick is because I think izanami intended to make yu another puppet infected with a sagiri but for some reason it couldn’t control yu so it just disintegrates and unlocked yus power. Teddies shadow was obviously different from the other shadows not cause he used to be a shadow but because malevolent forces were using it to stop you.
Shadow Teddie doesn't exist. When people confront their shadows, they deny and reject them as in secretly deep down they are a small part of themselves that they don't want see, though exagerrated into a caricature of their actual feelings. In contrast, Teddie said over and over that he doesn't know what the hell Shadow Teddie was talking about and didn't understand anything. Then there is Rise confirming that "Shadow" Teddie" isn't normal.
50:28 Actually, youre wrong there. Adachi does resist Phys by 50%. Persona 4 has this habit of placing weaknesses and resistances on shadows and bosses, but the "weak" and "resist" flags that determine things like knockdown and make the weak and resist graphics come up aren't set. Adachi has a 50% Phys "Resist" disguised as a normal affinity.
Reminds me that In Pokémon, there are a range of possible damage, despite the stats (and buff/debuffs) being static. That small RNG broke a lot of Nuzlockes.
"Yu seems okay for getting hit by a giant bolt of lightning". That's because he and Kanji weren't there when the blast happened. They weren't looking on with Yosuke and Teddie.

Nyarly, if some bosses seems to take less damage from physical attacks without showing resist, it's because in the game code there is a hidden Physical resist, that cuts down damage from physical attacks without showing a resistance to it. Kinda douchy, but enough to negate Hassou Tobi spams.
Even with that, you can spam Power Charge + Hassou Tobi a few times while you healing Yu with Yukiko, and also doing any stuff to take Adachi down (from attack with Chie or Buff with Teddie to simply try to destroy him with Yukiko's Burning Petals or any Naoto's attack)
You guys do know that Shota (or sometimes written Shouta) is a completely normal masculine Japanese name, right? The word shotacon itself is just a reference to the main character of Tetsujin-28, Shotarou. I'm sure Japanese writers are aware of this and give young boy characters this name as a joke sometimes, but it's still just a normal name for Japanese men.
This video made me realize how deep this story reached me when I was younger because I was pissed at you talking about all the character, story, and time spent with friends as useless. I'm wondering how Yukiko was underleveled. I always thought she was one of the better party members and always brought her along. Good healer and high magic stat.
If you ask me: Izanagi is the strongest persona in Persona 4 Golden, exactly because he's the persona you're using from the beginning, busting his stats will not require farming and its easy to do and to build him with skill cards and making it evolve them thanks to shuffle time

I find it reasonable that Teddy went off and did what he said not to do. Usually we're much better judgement for our friends than ourselves and that's a major theme throughout the Persona series. Relying on one another to overcome our own personal faults.
22:13 personally, i feel like observing your shadow causes an extreme, virulent negative response, and along with the logical reaction of "this cannot be me, because I am me" forces you to deny your shadow in all but a physical manner. that isnt even considering the psychological reasons of them being a representation of the you that you repress and have pavloved yourself into seeing as the "wrong" and "undesirable" you
Except in P5 it doesn't happen like that the one time a character's shadow appears, so I'm gonna guess it depends on how much you are represing your shadow. Someone who is somewhat aware of their faults and is not trying to deny them, their shadow is just a reminder of their ugliest side (and sometimes not even that), but for someone who isn't really aware, or is in denial, it behaves like the jerkasses that show in P4.

The timing on the Nocturne remake announcement after the "no buffs or debuffs true demon ending part 4" was priceless

This a great explanation, thank you
I want to add another detail, but I havent't played Persona 3 or 5 (yet) so I might be wrong (also please don't spoil me those)
The video says that in Persona 3 your initial Persona is Orpheus... Which drew my attention because Orpheus and Eurydice's myth us surprisingly very similar to Izanami and Izanagi's, despite belonging to very different cultures... I mean, they're about a couple of lovers, the female dies, the male tries to bring her back from the underworld and fails miserably, so she stays there having lost her personhood
Am I reading too deep into this?
Browsing TH-cam tired, just to get a sudden lesson in Japanese mythology.
Great read. Thanks.

Some people play persona primarily as an rpg with social Sim aspects rather than a social Sim with rpg components, and therefore they don't really enjoy the scenes where the story takes a backseat, as they view it as filler and essentially as the game just forcing them to mash through the dialogue until the story can progress and get to the fun part where they get to kick shadow's shins in. I don’t think Teddie rejected his Shadow... I think he rejected the “truth” that his Shadow obsessed over.
That he's a twink in a fursuit?

Nyarly gave me a smile today, one of my friends sadly, died today and well it sucks, thx Nyarly for uploading this
I send my condolences
I'm sorry love
Sorry about that friend, my condolences.
Hey, I'm sorry about your loss.
I’m sorry for your loss.
For people who haven't watched this, he basically power levels a lot in Castle. Then says "my nostalgic young self thought this was hard, but my incredibly experienced SMT adult self found it easy".
Basically the plot up to Naoto
13:10 *"...THE BOY'S NAME IS SHOTA!?"*
It's kind of a reoccurring trope plus i think they just do that when they don't want to bother coming up with a name
Why was it censored? Im behind the loop on that
Trey Hebert It's the boy equivalent to loli
You guys do know that Shota (or sometimes written Shouta) is a completely normal masculine Japanese name, right? The word shotacon itself is just a reference to the main character of Tetsujin-28, Shotarou. I'm sure Japanese writers are aware of this and give young boy characters this name as a joke sometimes, but it's still just a normal name for Japanese men.
@@Calvin_Coolage Yeah, like naming someone Ben Dover.
This video made me realize how deep this story reached me when I was younger because I was pissed at you talking about all the character, story, and time spent with friends as useless. Persona 4 is about connection, to yourself and others. More so than any other installment in the series. It damn near saved my live when I was a teenager. So, hearing someone rag on it because it wasn't pure gameplay ruffled me more than expected.
For this challenge specifically it is useless
Yea it's kind of annoying to hear him refer to anything that doesn't directly advance the story as 'filler', character development isn't filler.
@@jscoutfly801 after replaying a game multiple times I think I could understand it to just be boring
I was a persona noob the first time I played persona 4,So I used Izanagi all time til level 36 and only used other personas by the ending of the game
Mood, but like persona 5
mood but with Ame-No-Uzume cus i liked her too much 🤩
Ah yes, the adventures of Josuke, Okuyasu and Chad "Izanagi" Thundercock
I'm wondering how Yukiko was underleveled. I always thought she was one of the better party members and always brought her along. Good healer and high magic stat.
LOL, totally expected this to be possible, given how much P4 breaks it's own series' conventions - side note, THAT OUTRO SONG HARD AS HELL
1:12:30
And thats perfectly fine dude. We like seeing you have an awesome time and not burn yourself out. Love the channel man, be well
If you ask me: Izanagi is the strongest persona in Persona 4 Golden, exactly because he's the persona you're using from the beginning, busting his stats will not require farming and its easy to do and to build him with skill cards and making it evolve them thanks to shuffle time
this video can basically be summarized as "haha God's Hand go brrrr"
50:24 Adachi halves physical damage, the game just doesnt tell you, like how marie halves almighty
W H A T
_Finally someone said it lol_
Like every boss in this game has a hidden Almighty resist, they really dont want you to All Out Attack bosses
@@newironside so that explains why I was always shit at this game.
@@newironside Yeah, it's generally best to just attack bosses while they're downed instead of All-Out Attacking.
Just bought the steam version of P4G 2 weeks ago. I’m now completely obsessed with the Persona Series. I literally spent more time than I’d like to admit figuring out how to emulate P5 on my PC and finally succeeded. My life is over for the next couple of months. 🤣
Sameee.. already spent about 36-37 hours on it in the past 2 weeks now. About to go into Mitsuo’s dungeon
Thing is, while the PS4 got Persona 5 Royal, emulating the PS3 version means you can run mods, including Reimagined, which backports some of Royal’s upgrades as well as stuff like optional boss battles against previous protagonists. Life might end up on hold for a little bit longer
There's also an official Royal port now
I doubt this camp will be seen but here goes, I wasn’t shy when people do stuff like this. I am not really able to play persona much anymore due to losing my vision but I can still appreciate people attempting to play games with a little bit of a twist. Sorry that second part was supposed to say I always love it when people do stuff like this
If you lost your vision how are you typing?
@@Shadow-hz8ko probably uses voice recognition to type..I have it on my phone
"I don't recommend what it says doing most of the time."
>Spent time with Marie
I have no idea if that was an intentional dig at Marie or not, but I got a chuckle out of it.
How do you spend time with Marie on the first day you have free time? I tried to but can't seem to find her outside of the velvet room in order to talk with her
@@DeLeonHD I finished her social links..sometimes you have to get inside the velvet room and you read her poems
@@CoClo72 I did listen to a poem, but it took no time so I assumed nothing happened, who knows. I'll just go ahead and continue preparing to go rescue Yukiko and keep checking.
@@DeLeonHD after you go to level 5 in order to level up you need to start the Rise social link in order to progress with Marie. When she's not outside go inside the velvet room..there are many poems you are going to read

I remember being confused and looking this up myself. According to the wiki, Adachi has a “hidden” resistance to physical skills, so it’s treated like he resists the moves without showing it on his affinities.
"naoto is the hardest boss so far"
and then i remember my first playthrough were i accidently forgot to bring my party members to the fight and 1v1 naoto on the first try because i fused a way to powerfull Kin-Ki
Ah, Kin-ky
His stats were above mine at the point of those fights yet he was having a much harder time for some reason. The fights basically became charge move + highest damage almighty or physical attack I had. Then have Teddie or Yukiko heal the group as everyone else buffed or did damage once in a blu... Green moon. The fights were tedious but never really tough or close, I wonder why that would be.
Note to self as soon as you see “upgrade skill” card .GET IT!!
Guys the magician skill card, go get it
New challenge: Beat Persona 4G/5R using only Hassou Tobi. "The persona's name is not Hassou Tobi? What do you mean it's called Yoshitsune?"
I’m going to be completely honest, I do this all the time. Just referring to Yoshitsune as Hassou Tobi because I forgot his actual name
And then you run into a shadow that naturally nulls drains or repels physical and you’re at a stalemate. I mean ig you could throw a magic skill card on but you’re literally calling him after his “broken” move that will literally do nothing to some shadows why don’t you try “can you beat p4g using only myriad truths… oops I mean no okami” at least then you’re guaranteed to do damage to everything
@@beyondawesomegaming3517 simply never encounter a null physical persona
@@BoP so, never encounter a shadow then? Cause you don’t get to choose what shadow pops up once battle is initiated so why run the risk? Therefore being underleveled for the bosses and even worse never fight Marie and get the true ending as she naturally repels phys and it’s not like there’s a phys break. So much effort to do because you think something is “broken”
@@beyondawesomegaming3517 me when a move beats 99% of the game except for like 1 guy and I have 3 other characters to help me power through it with items: "Hassou Tobi isn't broken"
Confirmed: Marie knows how to use Thunder Reign without a persona.
this is a joke.
We did fight her, and she doesn't use a persona. Wasn't it obvious 😂
I mean, she is a goddess
@@phantomnite TRUE 🥵
50:25 The boss version of Magatsu Izanagi has a hidden physical resistance, hence why physical attacks are basically worthless against Adachi.
Like it or not, Shota is a common boy's name, too, Nyarly.
I believe it is always spelled Shouta or Shōta though
@@velvetbutterfly
Does it matter lol
That’s a romanization of Japanese. Also, in Japanese schools, you’re taught not to use “u” or double o or u when u use romaji lol
Yeah that bothered me too, although I guess if you're not japanese it's not super common knowledge. Still, it's not the japanese language's fault that the shortening of a specific NSFW word used by english-speakers ends up as a real name.
I don’t get it. What about that word is nsfw? I’ve literally never heard that name from anywhere on the nsfw I’ve seen and for the whole time I just thought that he was pissed that shota sounds similar to shit a or something and that’s why he had to censor it
@@beyondawesomegaming3517
From what I can tell, nothing really. Shota just means a young or young-looking male like loli means a young or young-looking female, apparently. Like, Tatsumaki from One Punch Man is apparently a loli.
I actually tried to keep izanagi for as long as possible because I thought he looked really cool

After watching your "with only x" videos, I tried to do my own Izanagi run of Persona 4 when it came out on steam.
Glad to see we endured similar things.
I tried it once but a skill card that transforms a random persona into another random one made me ragequit.
Do it with the p4 vanilla.
@@jasonenns5076 you can’t. Skillcards don’t exist so you’re stuck with everything Izanagi naturally learns, which means you can’t give him late game moves, and he’s stuck with early game moves.
@@thebiolibrary5572 That was the point
I like how Yosuke is getting the final blow on pretty much every boss even though he's like your main healer.
Sense when is yosuke supposed to be a healer? The best healing skill he gets is diarama why would you use him to heal when you could have mediarahan on both teddie and yukiko? That’s like saying you use chie because she’s your main ice attacker *dies of an aneurysm*
@@beyondawesomegaming3517 idk man he's your first actual healer and so he inevitably falls into that role. He's obviously a hybrid support anyway. Chie doesn't suffer the same thing because she develops into a bruiser. And Yukiko is a great damage dealer as soon as you get her which overshadows her otherwise good support abilities.
None of the characters are worth being pure healers since damage mitigation and control are worth more than healing, but if I have Yosuke and Yukiko in my party (and they're probably going to be for a while), if I absolutely need someone healed I prefer Yosuke to handle it because I'd rather lose a turn of his damage than Yukiko's.
@@Dartyus teddie with mediarahan (and marakukaja if you’re that worried about support over healing): “am I a joke to you?” He’s literally built for both healing and support through buffs and debuffs and what support exactly does yosuke get for support? Masukukaja? So does kanji if you want him to, dekaja? Literally every mc persona would have both dekaja and dekunda because of how many early game personas learn it naturally for fusion (not that it’s really needed anyways) I literally have teddie who can do everything yosuke can do but better with the only exception being strong wind skills also yea chie is a bruiser but kanji is a better bruiser given that he’s for higher strength and more health so that argument is invalid
@@beyondawesomegaming3517 okay well I’m not worried cause I literally beat the game.
@@Dartyus so have I I’m just flabbergasted as to why you decided to use yosuke of all people
I find it reasonable that Teddy went off and did what he said not to do. Usually we're much better judgement for our friends than ourselves and that's a major theme throughout the Persona series. Relying on one another to overcome our own personal faults.
22:13
personally, i feel like observing your shadow causes an extreme, virulent negative response, and along with the logical reaction of "this cannot be me, because I am me" forces you to deny your shadow in all but a physical manner. that isnt even considering the psychological reasons of them being a representation of the you that you repress and have pavloved yourself into seeing as the "wrong" and "undesirable" you
Except in P5 it doesn't happen like that the one time a character's shadow appears, so I'm gonna guess it depends on how much you are represing your shadow. Someone who is somewhat aware of their faults and is not trying to deny them, their shadow is just a reminder of their ugliest side (and sometimes not even that), but for someone who isn't really aware, or is in denial, it behaves like the jerkasses that show in P4.
"where we meet... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" my hatred for teddie felt that deep in my soul back in the velvet room
