Great video! Breaks down the essential elements well. If I understand it correctly, it would appear that the FIRST order of business, when tuning the carb, would be to set CORRECTLY the float level, since all other circuits "flow" (pun intended) from that very critical setting?
I hope in a future video, you cover the impact and fixes for the all too common worn throttle shaft and throttle body which allows air seepage, affecting the idle, often producing an intermittent miss at idle as the air seeps in irregularly.
Thanks again for your continued contribution to keeping these amazing machines rolling!

I rebuilt my WO with a kit from Pete DeBella Jeep Parts. It was a Straight forward process. When I was in Florida I Bought A new Manufacture WO from Ron Fitzpatrick Jeep Parts in Oregon. Both of these company's were very good to deal with. I recommend them if you need parts or a new WO carb...Hal

I think you explained my issue regarding the pump circuit hesitation.
I look forward to learning more

Thats good to hear, the pump circuit definitely needs to be working correctly for proper Carb performance, as soon as you touch the accelerator pedal you should see fuel coming out of the pump jet, if not then it is something you need to look at!

My all original '51 CJ3A (Except for the 12 volt system) gets about 30 MPG. But I never drive it over 35 MPH

Question: My 44 MB tends to idle correctly, but it dies when the accelerator is depressed. I am running a brand-new Joe's Motor Pool WO carb and I have had it on the jeep for about a month or so. Any ideas on what I should check? Based on your video, it sounds like the accelerator system is not functioning correctly, but given that I am running a brand-new reproduction carburetor, I'd hate to have to pull the whole thing apart. Thank you very much for your awesome videos and keep up the great work!

Hi, Pump the fuel pump handle up a couple of times until the carb bowl is full of fuel then take the air horn off the top of the carb and look down the bore, pump the accelerator linkage on the carb a couple of times, you should see a strong fine jet of fuel flowing out of a small nozzle down the side of the carb bore, it should flow for 2 seconds or so on a full stroke of the accelerator linkage and it should look like a good strong stream. Let me know what you see, cheers

@@Greendot319 Thank you very much for the reply. I did exactly what you instructed and the small jet on the side is just barely pumping fuel into the barrel when I pump the accelerator. I think we found out problem! Any ideas on what I need to do to fix the issue? Thank you again for all of your help!

Yes, the accelerator pump needs to be checked and rebuilt. The best thing to do would be to return it to the vendor and get a replacement, rebuilding is simple but if you've bought it new its not worth your effort to sort out just get it replaced ;)

Roger that. I figured that that was going to be the case. I watched your rebuild video yesterday, although I completely forgot to mark what point in the second or third episode you started rebuilding the accelerator circuit. I guess I'll have to go over them again! :)
Overall, thank you again for all of your help, my friend. Your videos have been indispensable and I appreciate you taking the time to put these incredible tutorials together. Take care and please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you get more subs, likes, etc! :)

Great vid! Where do you source your rebuild parts from? I reside in France, so if you have a supplier here that would be great too!

Curious to know what is that mounded under the hood of the jeep while it is up?
