    This is an extremely good video credit to carlos. I have personally done this job once already but it needs doing again and the only difference i will do next time is the timing belt at the same time as i find less faffing with locking the fuel pump. but 2 tips i will add to this video is when you withdraw the fuel pump stuff rags below it pump side because if you loose the woodruff key( as i did) you cant buy these and keep it safe and when you reinstall the woodruff key put a blob of grease to hold it in place the torque fuel pump pully to i think 50nm but check your manual first as i think its only cast alloy and too much nm will crack it( again as i found out)

      @@pdrfrzpdrfrz8107 Proper tightening torque is required. This is not a job for people without the proper knowledge, info and tools.

    Para quem não quiser remover as borboletas há agora a possibilidade de colocar uma haste de accionamento das borboletas, reforçada com casquilhos de latão em vez dos originais de plástico. De qualquer forma havia sempre que abrir e limpar o colector. Podia fazer um vídeo a mostrar os passos com esta situação, indicando até se possível os materiais a utilizar? Obrigado.

    bom dia Sr Carlos. AO retirar as borboletas não ficou com erros na centralina ? Tenho um astrah com o mesmo motor e é só problemas... Já anulei a egr e o erro.... mas uns meses depois voltou a luz e eu penso que seja do coletor / borboletas... ao retirar as borboletas n se fica com o erro ?

    Hello Carlos, I know its been a long time since this video. I have the same engine (z19dth) same problem. The piece is loose. This service is a lot of money in my country (Spain). Car works fine, I just discovered it randomly. Its possible that a swirl flap will go into the engine? Im really concerned about it...

      Hi, it's possible as long as it has no proof, if you check it, you can move it by yours hands, it'll be worst later, so don't let it like that, it'll break for sure if you wait too much

      @@RosaLischenFlaschenschafe already fixed it, inlet manifold opened and cleaned, flaps delete, egr disabled and tuned to 180-190 bhp! It cost me to do this but I guess its worth

    Hi. The two bolts that you use to hold the fuel pump pulley in place. Are they also used to hold the timing cover on ? If not , what size are they as I will need to pick buy two from a motor factor. Regards.

    Hi after removing the swarl flaps is there any way that one can remove the swarl flap actuator and fooling the ecu with a resistor

      There is no need to remove the actuator. Just leave it there, it doesn't do anytging. You can disable it by reprogramming ECU, but it is not necessary

    Merhaba benim aracım opel vectra 1.9 cdti z19dth motor. Benim aracımın sorunu geç çalışıyor. İki veya üç kere marş tekrarı yapıyorum. Araç 2. Marşta başlatmada çalışıyor. Enjektör sağlam , kızdırma bujileri sağlam sizce sorun nedir ? Hava sıcaklığı 20 derece olsa bile çalışmakta zorlanıyor. Marş motoruda sağlam akü , pilde sağlam

    thanks for sharing. But why did you remove swirls? As you know swirls must be closed while idling or first run. After your removal your idling or hard first problems could occur. Could you please explain
    symptoms/differences after and before removing them? many thanks.

      Hi. I should have done this earlier. The engine works much better, good cold start, no problems. I have to say that I had to change the programming of the ECU now have 190CV and egr delete. Before doing this, there were many air leaks in the collector and a lot of black smoke and lack of power at start-up.

      @@CarlosAlberto-es6qc so, by your explanation, it seems like swirls do not have any duty. Removing them could cause hard run or unsteady idling in my learnings. I have a cold hard run problem with my alfa 159. And its intake is all same with yours. I was wondering with swirls could cause this. But after your experience my thoughts a bit changed.

      @@ssscorpionnn35 I did this JOB in the past. I noticed black smoke and several errors at the diag related to manifold leaks and gas recirculation problems. I checked the swirl flaps connecting rod and I found it out of his place. I dissasembled manifold and blancked swirl flaps maintaining the flaps servomotor connected but turning free. Car runs perfectly with soft idle. I didn't remap and my egr was not deleted. In that conditions the only difference that I noticed is a very little loose of power under 2000 RPM (if you check flaps function they open a bit when you turn ignition key and with the engine running they open progressive till 2000RPM. But over 2000 RPM flaps are always totally opened. System is designed to create turbulence and improve cylinder feeding at low rpms). I did the modification of the manifold with 200K km and I sold it with 350K km running perfectly. Perfect cold start. Perfect idle. It is a really cheap solution for a job that at workshop could reach 1000€.

      @@ssscorpionnn35 Maybe your problem is connecting rod out of his place and swirl flaps are all in diferent position or even with manifold leaks. It is easy to check. In that engine hard cold start can be also caused by a faulty egr. I recommend you yo make a diag.

      If you want a cheap fix that will last sometime .Take the bar off the swirlflaps ( on to of the engine the other side of glow plugs at the back) working from the left clean 1,2,4 with brake cleaner and cotton buds.Then turn the swiveling part with a nipple on to 10 o'clock on 1,2,4.Stick them in place with JD Weld £8.

    Olá exelente trabalho,fiz o mesmo á minha Fiat Croma f e não noto diferença ficou mais barulhenta a frio tenho é um grilar quando puxo por ela aos 1,7 rpm e vibra o motor mas passa depois das 2,0 rpm pensava que era o turbo mas não será o actuador?Bom trabalho

    Eu tenho esse mesmo coletor, meu opel é automático, qual opção vc vê melhor trocar o coletor pelo novo supostamente modificado ou apagar as borboletas com as fichas, tenho erros contínuos 2279.

      Boas Jaime, o meu também é automático e em 2013 começou a dar chatices, recoloqueia haste com umas buchas em bronze e fez um anito (2014), entretanto eu próprio substituí o colector por um novo, mantendo o actuador. Ficou sem problemas até o actuador velho queimar em 2016. Sendo automático e tendo filtro de partículas não arrisquei retirar as borboletas, pois ia afectar tanto a relação da caixa de velocidades, como criar mais fuligem depositada no filtro de partículas.

    Muito bom trabalho... Carlos diz uma coisa é fiável trancar a poli da bomba para quem não quer mexer na distribuição? Não sai do ponto nem afeta nada se a correia n se mexer? Pois eu fiz a distribuição à pouco tempo e acho que tenho fuga na admissão no meu alfa 1.9 jtdm 140cv agradecia uma resposta gostava de ser eu a fazer o trabalho.

      É que ouso uma fuga ou sugar entre a bomba e admissão e ao puxar tenho o erro p0236 e ouso um chiar

    Hi Carlos, good Job! One question to you and the community about the spring in the hole from the high pressure diesel pump, do you re-installed the spring? I saw some german movies about the inlet manifold exchange and all dudes talked about to remove the spring and don't reinstall it. Is that right?

    How did you move the wheel on back of fuel pump,so you could get the 2 bolts in to hold it?

      You can move the engine with ratchet, until it is in the right spot

      use Revive Turbo cleaner, 2 bottle in each service for your car and it will be great for ypur engine, I've got a Saab 93, used to be owned by a old boy and he didn't drive the engine like it need to be, I remove the egr valve I've seen the intake manifold completely dirty, I used this and feel like different car, got the power that it needs and saving me more money in fuel, check it on Ebay.

      Hi, In my case this does not happen.

      All the blanking does is take away the plastic swirl valves that come loose over time and causes boost loss and in extreme cases could disintegrate and the possiblity of bits going down into the pistons. you should keep the control module in place and plugged in or you will get eml come on

      You have to keep the servomotor of the flaps electrically connected but turning free. No lights should appear at the panel. You will notice minimum loose of power under 2000 rpm. But problem is solved forever with minimum expend of money.

      I think the time it will take somebody, the first time doing this, will vary based on a person's mechanical knowledge, dexterity, hand eye coordination, tools, time available... everyone is unique.

    olá sr Carlos tenho visto vários vídeos inclusive o do óleo da caixa de velocidades.
    tenho um saab 93 com o mesmo motor pergunta que faço é pk manteve os tubos de vacuo? do turbo?
    tb já nao tenho essas swirls flaps pois o anterior dono retirou.
    Já vi este video e estou a pensar fazer isto

      Non è così in tutte le vetture,ed è pericoloso se qualcosa cade dentro il collettore di aspirazione!
      Io preferisco smontare tutto!
