  • Summer jig fishing is a great way to catch big bass! In today's video Matt starts off by simplifying jig fishing for the angler that just wants to build confidence in the technique. He goes on to break down 3 unique situations where fishing a jig will catch bigger bass than other techniques. Don't overlook the jig this Summer!
Jig fishing is one of those techniques you can dive as deep into as you want. It can be as simple as a single jig in a great color that you use effectively throughout the year or it can be taken to a whole different level. It can also be taken to the max with different styles, colors, and retrieves. In today's video Matt explains how to use a jig effectively in heavy cover, around grass, as well as on your lightest Bait Finesse combo.
Below is a breakdown of the baits, trailers, and colors Matt discussed in the video. He also included his favorite rod and reel combos for the different situations. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Shocked you diddnt mention the keitech casting jig when talking about compact jigs. That’s one of my favorite. Tungsten head so the profile is smaller than other baits of the same weight; wire tied skirt so they never fall off. Skinny bait keeper that doesn’t shred your plastic and a skirt material and consistency unlike any others ive used

Good stuff, great tutorial. More people need to have confidence in the jig. I know so many fishermen who don't even fish it. Local club members who fish tournaments but don't fish a jig. No faith! My PB a 11lbs 12 oz largemouth came on a Stanley 5/16th jig with a pork craw trailer back in the 1990s. It's been catching bass for many decades. Thanks for all you guys do via this channel.

I’ve been recently using a standard rod with a standard spinning reel. Every time I cast my line gets a knot usually it the shape of a circle on the reel. I can’t figure out how to fix it so I was wondering if I should just get a dedicated load out focused on casting and leave that rod for simple worm fishing off a dock or if I should attempt to fix it and save money. Any help would be HEAVILY appreciated 🙏
