      I think Ford could ve made a 5.4l DOHC V8 with modular architecture or a 6.2l Modular DOHC V8
      The 6.8l OHV ll be fine.. but GM has already perfected LT motors and I don't think Fords 6.8l ll be better n a Mustang than GM LT1s
      For 1. The LT1s still are lighter and smaller than Godzilla and if this 6.8l s based n the 7.3 I wud be slightly disappointed because frankly I didn't like this engine, it felt lazy below 3000 rpm and even post that it revved slower than GM LT motors and felt more like a truck motor and much less like a sporty motor.
      Even by best stock LT standards the 6.8s best possible outputs may be 540 PS and 505 ft pounds torque, a 6.2l DOHC wud ve made 560-570 PS and 470-480 ft pounds torque, wud ve revved fasted and wud ve been a better match for a Mustang

    • @ReticentIndignation
      @ReticentIndignation 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I disagree. I rather enjoy the govs of torque the 7.3 liter has, doesn't feel lazy at all...Did you try the Tremor configuration with 4.30 gears? Makes a big difference. You're correct that the engine is made for a truck and tuned for logetivity and pulling. It would still be badass in a mustang; akin to the Viper V10 8.4 liter...so much torque

      @@ReticentIndignation
      See there is a reason why motors are based on HP/L and not at all mentioned in torque/L. And there is a reason why OHC is widely used for sports cars
      1. Crank speeds.
      Unless you make cranks with very low weight yet strong shafts, an OHV will always spin at lower speeds than an OHC, the lower speed of spinning however is with a less graded positive torque graph meaning. Its super strong but slow to get to peak.
      With OHC with the same crank tech it spins faster as there is less parts for pull up. Thus reaching peak s easier and faster. As per cosworth performance the GM LT1 in C7 Grand Sport takes 4.6s to raise from 2k to 6.4k rpm whereas a Ford 5.0 takes just 3.6s to raise from 2k to a higher redline of 7.4k which means if both of these engines are delivering same HP but OHC s at a lower torque would still to more work than an OHC at same HP and higher torque provided both machines are put in a machine that weighs same
      2. With modern super fast automatics and dual mass flywheels and all. Gearing is extremely important. The split determines how much is available at each gear.. the 5.0s were geared more for mpg and thats why they didn't perform that better.. but with the A10 the S550 Gen IIs ve done much better, now my only wish is to make that S550 platform lighter.. but there is a new 1 coming and it seems to be more focused on Hybrid tech so no signs of low weight as of now. Thats why I feel 6.8l wud be ok.. but if Ford still has an option for a sub 2200 lbs chassis like the Alpha platform in GM which weighs just 2070 lbs an OHC would perform far better than an OHV n that case

    • @waynebollentin989
      @waynebollentin989 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      While it did make that much. It was a fully built motor with rods, pistons, intake, cam, ported heads etc. Although with basically a cam and intake it make just under 600hp. So it shouldn't be hard to make 1000hp+ if you can make about 18psi on the stock motor. Change the cam and it becomes easier. Specially if you add the intake too. That will move the rpm range higher allowing the blower to spin harder.
      Regardless this motor will love the boost.

The higher the "octane" the harder the fuel is to light and keep lit and the less "power" it contains. "E85 tunes" in Ford BOAT ANCHORS "makes power" because it keeps those pieces of shit running cold, rich, overfueled and out of "spark knock". Then there's the fact that the "tuner" can "make power" in/on any fucking vehicle on the "chassis dyno" without even getting up from the dyno console just by "tuning" the DYNO CALIBRATION AND "CORRECTION FACTORS".
      You Fordtards just BEG to get bent over and cornholed by "tuners" because you know EVERYTHING about "making power" except how clueless you ACTUALLY ARE.

Let’s remember that diesel trucks are a lot more expensive out the gate but will off set that with fuel economy and use ability for what you would buy a truck like that for and the most important is resale value, diesel trucks hold value compared to gas and with that supercharger how many buyers do you think are actually out there that will pay value or more for it?
