- Sorry about the wind. Please feel free to ask me questions about the truck.
parts:
Ebay GT35 turbo
Bosch 1000cc injectors
Walbor 255 fuel pump
Ebay 2.5 aluminum intercooler piping
Greddy BOV
Aem standalone ecu
3 inch stainless exhaust
looking good man! gonna upload the big brake kit video soon hopefully
mjbtaco nice! cant wait to see it.
Beautiful example Tacoma
excellent work on the 2rz man... makes me want to get another taco :-(
Mint
if you want to see it just let me know. it looks so good with blue lcd lights in the gages and in the dashboard its sweet.
Looks to clean for an ebay turbo haha! All ebay turbos i have seen are so ghetto, wires everywhere and dirty engine bays and fenders ! Good job 👍
Awesome
A lot nicer than mine I have one same color single cab used for lawn maintenance for ten years body panels every one is damaged only paid 750 though
I’m literally doing the exact same thing to my Tacoma
i see you put your gages on the dash in my 4runner under the stereo above the ashtray a 2" 3 gage kit will fit in the little cubby hole but you can't use the ashtray anymore
How reliable is it gonna be with 300 hp ? My long term dream with my 04 Taco is a turbo kit like this. Potentially a transmission cooler too… I plan on tearing the bed off and building a small micro living space from the frame up. Probably tow a small enclosed trailer behind too for a traveling “garage” for the toys and outdoor stuff. Maybe a 4x6’ or 5x8’ trailer. The engine will need the boost for high elevations and the wind resistance at 65-70mph.
Also any returns on fuel economy? I know it must be hard to drive around slow but what did you average?
Turboing a vehicle always shortens the lifespan of the engine. You can make it reliable with the right parts. you will definitely need a standalone tuning system. Fuel economy will drop if you add the turbo
Can you do a vid on the standalone ECU please? Thanks and Groovy truck!
Silver Turd yes I'll try to put one out as soon as possible it's not installed yet but I can at least give you an idea of what I'm using
You are the best, thank you for all you do!
I just installed a turbo in my 2001 taco. I need some help with the vacuum lines. I would really appreciate the help
Email me or find my on Facebook jhardman200@hotmail.com
what's up friend ! Did you do any work on the computer or is it stock?
I replaced the factory ECU with haltech and a jumper harness
For some reason my truck turn off when i plug the MAF sensor. Any ideas i would really appreciate the help.
Where is the maf located?
I see your still on here answering comments. I have a question. I have the same truck with the 2.4l. I also have a t3/t4 hybrid turbo [not Ebay turbo] intercooled setup, and I would like to ask if you have a part number for those injectors? I've got the boost dialed back to 9psi due to the stock fuel setup. Also, can you tell me more about the tune, as in are you using a stand alone unit or ??? To add, I've had the turbo on the truck now for about 12 years with no issues [with the boost at 9psi].
I'm running stock injectors, I was going to run a haltech 1500 but never got the chance to run it
Stock ecu no tune
What do you estimate you have in the turbo mod all inclusive? Looks like it is going to be a handfull but fun fun fun
$1800-$2000
Did you have any issues with the truck shutting off after high rpm’s after turbocharging? Also, where is the vacuum line on the BOV connected to?
Yes, with out tuning the injectors will dump a lot of fuel which makes the engine die or almost die after getting into boost or high rpm. The bov is T into the throttle body
@RMR_Will standalone. I went with a haltech ecu
@@RMR_Will you can try moving the maf sensor before the throttle body.
Ah okay, I may just say screw it and get the standalone. Everything is pointing in that direction 😅
Nick looking truck bro can you show me a link to the intercooler kit
rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F232832675297
I made the piping
Can you link me to the turbo piping please thank you
We did this same ish setup, our maf is blow through though. It doesn't want to handle any boost, chills around 14.0 under boost. You using stock injectors?
Yes, but the stock injectors in the 01-04 are bigger than the older taco. Try moving the maf in front of the throttle body instead of the turbo
Trying that tomorrow, thx 🙏
Ey bro! I have a question! How many horsepower is in the wheels? For 5psi
It's never been on the dyno. My guess would be around 200
I have a 99 Tacoma right now, wanting to turbo it. Currently have the 2.7l but was told a 2.4 are better for turbo swaps. What’s your take on that?
In my opinion the 2.7 is the better option
@@jeffhardman2229 I bought a sbc 350 but after doing some research it won’t fit without a lot of modification so I’m looking toward the turbo swap.
Make sure you do some type of tuning otherwise that engine won't last long-term
@@jeffhardman2229 10-4. Thanks for the info man. I appreciate it.
Can I get more information where you buy the turbo ?? For my 2003 Toyota Tacoma
Ebay, it's a gt35 knock off
I have the 1999 tacoma I want the turbo kit for it but mines automatic
thats okay. i have a 04 tundra turbo using the auto trans and its still fun to drive
Hey bro I have a 01 taco wit the 2.7l 4banger , u think the engine can handle 300hp?
Yes, with tuning you could get more
@@jeffhardman2229 🤝
@@jeffhardman2229if the 2jz-gte can handle 2000hp becuz it has a cast iron block, is it the same with the 4cylinders?
Where did you run your blow off valve vacuum tube
th-cam.com/video/E5I6FsQ8Sgs/w-d-xo.html
It shows the big vacuum line on the throttle body at 5:25 mins.
Where did you run it into the intake
Bc I’m building one and it’s almost done just can figure out we’re to run the blow off valve line into the intake
Could you text me some info on my number?
I didn't run it to the intake, i only ran it to the vacuum side of the throttle body
How did you get your shifter that high and back? Do you have a video?
Search this on eBay. 6" BLACK CURVED SHIFT KNOB EXTENSION FOR MANUAL GEAR SHIFTER LEVER. Made by sickspeed
Can you send me a link where you go the turbo . I've been looking but I can't find any
LiveAlohaENT Look at this on eBay www.ebay.com/itm/190840518389
LiveAlohaENT I'm going to upgrade to a Borg Warner in the future
Jeffrey Hardman where did you the exhaust manifold?
LiveAlohaENT you can buy this one Look at this on eBay www.ebay.com/itm/253045187477 but this is the one I built www.mazworx.com/store/p/76-Mazworx-Log-Manifold-Kit-4-Cylinder.aspx
Did you need an oil pressure regulator for this build?
No, the oil pressure is fine. The fuel will need a pressure regulator though
how does it ride with 7psi ? any problems. im planning on boosting mine soon but wont have the money for standalone.
I daily drive the truck but in my opinion it runs rough and needs to be tuned to fix some idle issues. make sure you get a wide band gauge so you don't lean out under boost. other than that the truck runs great
Jeffrey Hardman you think its best to leave at 5psi for stock motor?
Yes that would be safer and still fun on the streets
Jeffrey Hardman alright thats what i had in mind. later on when i have the money for ecu ill run more. how much psi can these motor handle stock ?
ive seen people push over 14 psi with tuning but i honestly dont know. ill find out soon when i jump on the dyno
Do you have to do the ac delete ?
No but it makes it easier
im planning to do this (not me but my mechanic).... i just want to ask how was the increase in power? Is it significant increase? What about the gasoline consumption, did it save you in gas, or did it increase in consumption? Overall is it worth all the effort and money? Thanks in advance for your reply. You did a great job!
It's definitely worse on gas mileage. decent power increase but you need to have it tuned if you want good results
It's definitely worth the money
I had mine running no intercooler
No tune, no fuel upgrades at 9psi
Cheap small turbo internal waste gate
I did all the work. 2rz's love boost
Did you have to redo alot of the vac lines ?
Only a couple on the intake and throttle boddy
Jeffrey Hardman I want to turbo my yota soon that’s the only part I’ll have trouble with
Feel free to ask me questions and I'll help the best I can. Also check out mjbtaco hes putting a turbo on a 98 tacoma right now
The the engine stock or is it rebuilt?
Eduardo Aguilar completely stock 161000 miles
What header or manifold did u buy or made
Mainor Rabanales mines from mazworks. You need to build it. You can buy one on eBay if you need the easier option. Just search 2rz turbo manifold
Cool video but wind is terrible
Yeah, it was really bad that day. I just need to get a real camera instead of using my phone. I have another video coming out soon. I'm going to Turbo my Tundra.
How you did exhaust
Exhaust kicks out in front of the back tire. It routes over the frame and shoots down
@@jeffhardman2229 do it shoot flames any more videos
No flames but it does have a nice popping sound. Just click on my channel you'll see more videos about the truck
Is the ebay tubro still holding up in how much boost
Yes, it's starting to see somewhere so I'll need to replace it most likely this summer. I'm only running 5psi. For a turbo that only cost me 140 bucks I can't complain
What happened with the AC
I take it out in almost all my turbo cars
Update on the truck?
Unfortunately the Tacoma has been parted out and sold. I've started a new project. Putting a turbo on a tundra. If you want to see another turbo tacoma follow mjbtaco
Is it easy to install ur self or u have to pay
Mainor Rabanales if you can find a kit that's just a bolt up yes. But you need to understand the basics. I fabricated the full kit to what I wanted so it was a little harder than your standard kit
Jeffrey Hardman think this would work on a 2009 tacoma?
where did you buy those gauges?
Glow shift gauges off ebay. Pods are also from ebay
Estimated how much would you say you spend
About $2000
How much money hAs it cost ya to turbo that little beAsts
Around 2k. I could have built one for less with cheap parts but I wanted it to last
Sup with your taco how is she
I drove the truck around for about a year and decided I needed a bigger truck and bought a tundra. Ended up parting out and selling the Tacoma but now my Tundra is paid off so I'm looking at trying to buy Tacoma to redo the project or Turbo the tundra
Jeffrey Hardman nice man. I have a 97 I’m looking to turbo.
Nice welds man I’m yet to learn aluminum welding
Feel free to ask me questions anytime. Also check out this guy he has the same year as you. th-cam.com/video/krwyLTsfOD8/w-d-xo.html
are you on instagram?
Yes, jhardman240
Rims are trash bro rubber band tires you can do better than that considering the turbo
Awesome
