They are the best. We fitted the TRD supercharger to our 1998 Hilux SR5 2.7 here in Australia, back in 2019. What an amazing difference it made, with a Haltech ECU and upgraded fuel system.
I installed the black second gen TRD on my 98 4 Runner way back in 99. Still runs great today. Nice to see someone else who appreciates the old TRD superchargers 👍
I have a 96 T100 with the factory 3.4 that came out with the TRD supercharger with 235,000 miles on it. Truck doesn't look like much, but mechanically it's great!

I have not dyned it, but 0-60 in 5.5, 5.7 Twice pushing about 5900 lbs (increased weight add ons) says it about the power. The horse power stated by Magnuson is 550 HP and 550 HP at the crank. I have seen a video with a Magnuson S.C. installed in a 2017 tundra sr5 put on a dyno rear wheel HP is 475 and torque is 467 at 4400 ft of elevation. I think that would be fairly close to real numbers. It is not cheap but I think worth it. I use to own a 69 Malibu SS for years before I sold it. After I added the S.C. this truck feeds my Horse power ego and my sedate normal driving habits so not interested in a new muscle car. I also added the Trd front and rear sway bar the truck handles almost as good as my 325I. But no off road stuff with the sway bars on.
TRD had a supercharger for the 1MZ v6 too which is even rarer then this one for the 3.4. So you could have a supercharged Sienna, Solara, Camry, Highlander, Avalon and ES-300 during that era too. I love the sound of the Taco with an SC. It sounds like a plane taking off

@Gabe Ruesswick Sure there available new, it’s just not going to have the TRD logo on it. The used old one with the TRD logo is much harder to find at a good price. I finally found locally though.👍
The fuel mods are not needed staying stock true. But doing the urd 7th injector or 2zj injectors or meth injection does help performance and longevity of the engine and charger.. I purchased and rebuilt my 2nd gen charger in my old 98 runner installed it without fuel mods at 300k miles on the drivetrain. Blew the first engine up at 340k swapped in a 270k mile engine with the 7th injector and it was 10x better across the board as far as throttle response and seat dyno. I also remember blowing a belt on the trail once unplugged the 7th injector and used my jump box to keep the truck running long enough to get to the main road good times haha
I just slapped er on my high km 3.4, somewhere over 400, dont know exactly as I bought it from a wrecked 4Runner that was upside down. And it's been reliable for last 2 years with the blower. Pretty soon I'll be looking for another 3.4, and I will rebuild it for boost and have it ready to drop on if the one I'm running dies. Then I'll do all the fancy stuff. It's a wheeler, so go fast parts have never been a priority.
When you add a supercharger, let's say on a 1996 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder. do you have to reinforce the internals prior to the installation of the supercharger?
Supercharge crowns 3 .5 v6 360hp ,3.5v6 mark x 2015 up 360 supercharge..older mark x supercha. 3.0 320hp .theres a camry in dwn yander dat makes 323hp with supercharge
I can definitely agree with the 3.0 auto and going up a hill, is horrible even with a 2wd truck. When i did my swap to manual and mated it up to the 3.4l supercharger. OMG what world of difference, its expensive but oh so worth it. Just need to get a limited slip differential so i can use first gear.
I’m getting mine ready for more power, idk if a Trd supercharger or a turbo. With everything I’ve done and new ecu I got that has my current stage one tune. I’m making 220hp, btw stock was 140
Used Mercedes e430 can be bought the same price of that supercharger alone. With a little up keep that Mercedes will give you a smile every time you put your foot down too. Also belt won’t be snapping anytime soon. However, you have a nice new channel. Good luck. You will do well if continues.
@DirtGarage What are ur thoughts on 2008-2015 Scion xB with a 2.4L 2AZ-FE that they use to make a TRD centrifugal type supercharger? Now they discontinued that too of course because they had issues of bearing problems. The only problem that can solved, is to replace oem bearings for ceramic bearings and a custom shaft ceramic made. And wrapped around it. Making from stock 158 hp to 200 hp: is it worth for me? Yes but we know turbocharger is better. But I’m a die hard TRD. So what do I think? Is it worth it? And why?
How did you get your swap low enough for the supercharger to clear the hood? I'm building the same truck. 92 sas, with the supercharged 3.4. I appreciate the info thanks
I'm running a 2" body lift. If you look closely at my SAS you will see it is done differently than most. The hanger is higher in my frame, to keep the whole truck as low as possible th-cam.com/video/cu1ArMhN9CI/w-d-xo.html
With no required additional fuel delivery I have to assume that it's producing around 5 psi. ?? ( Still adds ponys ) ..have you considered running lower compression turbo style pistons? And a programable ECM. The lower compression pistons will make more power with the same boost. And being able to retard timing while under boost as well as fine tune fuel delivery for optimum AFR. .. other things boosted engines like are cooler spark plugs and stiffer valve springs. .. you don't necessarily have to go crazy like a engine running 20+ psi . But I would at least install a wideband O2+AFR gauge to know for sure you are at it near the ideal 12.5:1 Air Fuel Ratio. .. and have it Dyno tuned. .. if u do go nuts and beef it up for more psi u could add a turbo charger in series with the supercharger .. like a compound turbo setup. .
I'm going to be running this 3.4 as it is until she blows. In the meantime I have been looking for a spare motor, so I can completely rebuild and beef for go fast parts. At that point I'll consider low compression pistons and whatnot. For now shes a wheeler, works great as is, and dont need to go fast, as most the time shes crawling anyways 😂
@@DirtGarage cool .. I'm not sure what's available for the 3.4. Like if a factory turbo version exist .. but if so those pistons would be ideal and affordable. I did a little research on the super charger kit and the 3.4 . I think your probably good to go with your setup.. stock it has 9.6:1 compression most Boosted gas setups run around 9:1. And the SC kit includes a extra injector to add the needed fuel.

That's you once you supercharge your truck, bigger injectors, a bigger fuel rail and high performance fuel pump and a tuner chip and do a dyno run then flash the ECU and boom!!! Better fuel economy!!!
Sadly I bet my home built 94 3.0 with a gm 3rd gen ported m90 and some goodies makes this much power If not more and your right who dont love a blower I really dig your ride too get a bigger crank pulley or smaller blower pulley and step your plugs down a heat range or two and with ngk the higher the number the colder the plug I just got a set of brk6es for mine

I bought the truck at 91k miles and want to do due diligence and have maintenance on the supercharger up to par. I was planning to change the oil soon. Do you reccomend anything else? Also how much were the belts from toyota? Thanks!
I have a 2010 Tundra with the 5.7, and I think I would give a kidney for the TRD supercharger they made for it. $1200 seems like a screaming deal compared to the 5.7 superchargers I've seen floating around.
I grew up around fancy European cars that "required" premium fuel, but had no problems with regular unleaded. I wouldn't feel right pumping premium fuel into a 25 y o vehicle, just a matter of principle
You need to find a 98 or later ECM to work with Superchargers. From what I've been told anyways. They earlier ECMs don't know how to adjust for boost and the supercharger can be harmful to the engine.
out of topic question lol what are you running for differential gears ratio ? i got the same sas swap and 3.4 in my 90 pick up (no supercharger) i run 36 and 4.56 for gears i like your truck!
On my gauge I get between 5-7 with stock pully. I have done no fuel mods or anything. If I was to change out to smaller pully I would want to for sure!
Hey man! Did you ever get any ping from it in the higher gears at lower revs or anywhere else? If so what did you end up doing to fix it. I'm looking at methanol possibly or larger supra injectors with a piggyback tuner like a fic6
I hated the 3.slow. I once pulled over because I thought something was wrong but it was just a highway mountain pass. Now 5vz with a holset hx35w I dont even down shift.
I had to pull over with my automatic 3.0 all the time on mountain passes, actually mostly because my trans was heating up!! Same with the 3.4, I never have to even downshift out of 5th on passes. It's incredible!
As I was viewing your old video for TRD supercharger I have to correct you on the fact that yes it will run on regular gas also no pinging come of eng. There's a way to cheat the factory ecm and there's a modification on valve train I drive a 95 t100 factory ecm (they said it will not work) runs on regular gas , 10 psi boost and runs great
@@cartervaughn9180 to begin with the valve springs are to weak they tent to float under boost if you remove one you will find that they will be somewhere of 33to35 pounds not enough also the head gaskets are fiber you need the 1of the 3.4 tundra. Make sure you replace the head bolts . If you go that far .you need to remove the knock sensors install a brass washers under to make then less sensitive. I will stop here if you do all of that contact me again there's more you need to do (good luck)
My clutch never slip Intel i put my charger in. I got mines for a killer deal also. Running on 33s and stock gears. Do i regret no. It feels like your always flooring it but your barely on the gas.

@jeffgood6441 Haha the blower is long gone. Ditched it to 1UZ swap it years ago
Do you have to tune the ecu or anything after installing the supercharger? Or does the stock ecu compensate?
I had to.pull the intake on my 3.4L this past weekend. I wish i had the blower to bolt on instead of that pain in the ass 2 part intake plenum.
The blower is not easier to remove 🤣 Its big and bulky. Makes getting at some of the bolts a pain. But obviously worth it for boost.
Badass video!
Thank you!
Good memories
Great job man got a 90 that I plan on doing the same to.
Thank you! I would highly recommend it.
I have thought of doing that. How much more fuel do you use. I have a Toyota landcruiser troopcarrier diesel.
You didn't do the injector kit or beefed-up tranny? Could I just throw it on my existing setup?
No extra work required. Just bolts up and ready to party
Cool history lesson, thanks Climton!!!
Thanks Mike!
I’ve been trying to find a supercharger kit for my Gen7 Camry. It’s the only thing I haven’t done yet to my Toyota. If you know where pls lmk! Thanks
Great video! I have a Trd Supercharger in my 2003 Tacoma (black 2nd gen supercharger) and I am at around 94k miles with em. I bought the truck at 91k miles and want to do due diligence and have maintenance on the supercharger up to par. I was planning to change the oil soon. Do you reccomend anything else? Also how much were the belts from toyota? Thanks!
Fuck man I love boosted Toyotas. Still prefer my Turbo/BOV on my 3S-GTE’s but that TRD Supercharger is the fucking shit! Sounds great too.
Anything boost is a good time!
I have a 2010 Tundra with the 5.7, and I think I would give a kidney for the TRD supercharger they made for it. $1200 seems like a screaming deal compared to the 5.7 superchargers I've seen floating around.
Yeah the 5.7 blowers can be really expensive.
Thinking of doing a 3.4 swap in my 91 pickup. Been looking into all these. Is it worth the hassle?
I grew up around fancy European cars that "required" premium fuel, but had no problems with regular unleaded. I wouldn't feel right pumping premium fuel into a 25 y o vehicle, just a matter of principle
Could I put that on my 2021 trd Camry?
I have a 95 toy with the V6. So if I find one of these chargers. Do you have to get the computer reprogrammed or anything after the install.
You need to find a 98 or later ECM to work with Superchargers. From what I've been told anyways. They earlier ECMs don't know how to adjust for boost and the supercharger can be harmful to the engine.
Pretty sure it’s a 97 ecu with the same options. I picked up a a 97 Tacoma 4x4 M/T for my t100.
Imma slap one of these on my Toyota Tercel 😂
Where's do i find a supercharger for a 3vz motor?
So bigger gas tank and extra belts I can do that
out of topic question lol what are you running for differential gears ratio ?
i got the same sas swap and 3.4 in my 90 pick up (no supercharger) i run 36 and 4.56 for gears
i like your truck!
I'm still running stock 4.56 gears. I don't plan on re-gearing because I really like how it drives on the highway with this setup!
Love my 95 4runner!
Are u running a body lift?
How much psi are you running and how do you increase the fuel needs is there Aftermarket computer?
On my gauge I get between 5-7 with stock pully. I have done no fuel mods or anything. If I was to change out to smaller pully I would want to for sure!
is there a TRD supercharger for a 1uz I always only see ppl throw on a Cobra Superchargers on 1UZs
No option for 1UZ, there is a couple options for it though like the Cobra.
Awesome video keep’em coming
Will do! Thanks for watching 😁
Hey man! Did you ever get any ping from it in the higher gears at lower revs or anywhere else? If so what did you end up doing to fix it. I'm looking at methanol possibly or larger supra injectors with a piggyback tuner like a fic6
I've only ever got ping on bad fuel traveling in USA. In Canada I never experienced any issues as long as I used premium fuel.
Awesome video and truck!
Thank you!
Did you run the stock clutch on this setup? Also did you have a smaller pulley?
Stock everything clutch. Just make sure you actually buy OEM stuff. And no, I kept stock pully to keep it reliable.
Can you use this on a 1986 Toyota pickup with a 22r efi engine?
Sure! If you pull the engine and 3.4 swap. I have a video on this.
If I could give you 500 thumbs up I would. Well done sir...well done.
Thank you!
Awesome car sir....
Would a R150 be incompatible with a supercharger on your 1uz ?
It would be fine
Hey man I was wondering if you could help me out. I was interested in supercharging my Lexus that has the 2jzge. Maybe a trd supercharger fits?
How do I get a supercharger for my 2013 Camry?
As I was viewing your old video for TRD supercharger I have to correct you on the fact that yes it will run on regular gas also no pinging come of eng. There's a way to cheat the factory ecm and there's a modification on valve train I drive a 95 t100 factory ecm (they said it will not work) runs on regular gas , 10 psi boost and runs great
What mod/cheat? I have a 96 t100 and I want to supercharge it but I thought you couldn’t
I need one for my 2001 FBO V6 Camry
Like it. Look fwd to axle swap video
A 5vz SC would be perfect for a Toyota motorhome
That would be epic!
E85 fuel kit to save money and get octane? Cool video
No E85 pumps here 🤣
Anyone have a link for the spare belts? I’d rather not get stranded
Stop by your local dealership to order. Auto parts stores where usless when I tried to find it there.
Dirt Garage great thanks!
Twin scroll/efr makes boost at 2000 RPM.
