Cool build. You may need an oil restrictor banjo bolt (if you don't already) to stop the smoking if it doesn't go away. I had too much flow on my brand new turbo and it blew out into the exhaust also.
Main thing is that you need to go wot when u want to make a pull don't tip in because it's not going to give the motor enough fuel during a tip in. If u still have this truck an need a standalone I can send you one
I think your oil feed and drain lines might be backwards. idk I cannt look at your turbo. That oil drain feed you were talking about for your banjo bolt. Looks identical to the drain side of my turbo on my sr
Why didn’t you just replace the fuel pump with a higher flow and pressure, then fit a rising rate fuel pressure regulator? Kept the standard fuel injectors, used the regulator to increase fuel pressure under boost, adjust the fuel pressure to get the correct afr under boost ? There are off course other options, like adapting a motorcycle power commander Eli fuel interceptor , use a map sensor instead of a tps, then as the boost comes on, you could add additional fuel as long as the injectors had enough duty cycle in reserve, or used the larger injectors you fitted and pulled out the rich fuel under vacuum and then fine tune the boosted fueling with fuel pressure and the power commander . These are off course cheaper options that spending more money on an after market ecu like a halter etc. due to not having ignition control, I would have fitted an intercooler to keep the charge air temps lower and the engine away from knock. Just my thoughts, I am 54 yo, I turboed my Datsun 1600 with a z18et and a microtec Eli system back when I was in my early 20s, Moved onto a Datsun 180b z18et, then a 400 wrhp Mitsubishi Starion with a 8 valve single cam 2.4 litre motor after market Eli. Before moving onto turbo charging a fzr1000 motorcycle, using a ceramic turbo of a rb20 and a modified efi throttle body of a Yamaha r1 and a halter ecu, followed by a turbo Yamaha warrior, turbo Harley Davidson then a turbo hyabusa . Plus many nitrous bikes , like a zx9r, zx10 . I spent most my working life building hi performance engines, dyno tuning engines on engine dyno and cars on chassis dyno. After an accident on a nitrous zx9r . I don’t play any more. Although I stay up to date with current efi tech and the turbo scene. Over the years I have done many simple things, like fit a boost pressure switch, to play with air or coolant temps sensors to richen up fuel maps a bit under boost, or voltage changers to change map or air flow sensor voltages when I have added larger injectors to lean them off in vacuum conditions. If you know how efi works, there is always a patch to get you by when waiting for funds for a after market efi system. Shame you gave up so early on this Toyota. As I am thinking of buying a 2.7 litre petrol Toyota hilux , adding a turbo, intercooler and aftermarket efi, 14psi, as a tow car to pull a caravan . As I don’t want a v6 or a diesel with expensive to replace injector pump assemblies.
The 'still smoking' could have been the oil inside the exhaust pipe burning off and NOT the turbo itself. You should have let it run and burn off longer. :(

For a 2.7, try something sized for like a 2.0 tdi. Easy to find, considering those tdi engines are garbage. But really, try a small one and see what you think. But using something from a production vehicle will save money if you have to experiment. Then go aftermarket for that donor since a mass produced engine will have more options than custom

Turbo Will be fin, beter of if you put a debit an regulator on . The first line to the turbo for lubrications is to big the firs turbo must hav a oil intake line white max iner diameter of 3 a4 mm . The turbo seals are made for a specified amount of oil en debit ,the one you have is to big from oil filter to turbo . There are specified turbo oil restricted ,but you have to check good your specs of the turbo .
Man I hate to break it to u but the second u put that turbo on the car ur target afr should be 11.5-12.0 your still so lean at wot I’m surprised u haven’t thrown a rod yet

@@willsullivan6195 from my research the 2rz and 3rz head are identical. Even the bore diameter is the same it’s the the stroke length that’s different,
i see the iac hose going to catch can. You can connect the iac hose to the port on throttle body where the front vent used to be, i see it has a vacuum cap.
Best thing to do to make this truck faster is just put the lowest gears they make for the truck and a locker. 5.30 rear end. With aluminum rims and low profile tires.

I know some about cars but not enough to diagnose or actually build or fix one, no welder, no cutters, no full ratchet set, no lift, or daytona jacks, nothing

Most definitely will. But a 95 is tested obdi, and has obdii capabilities. There are ways to trick it

Nah best thing would be get a Garret or precision turbo ,some injectors a fuel pump and a standalone ECU then put it on dyno

The wastegate is vented atmospherically so that it makes awesome noises, and the rest of the exhaust feeds into the muffler.
