  • After lunch we continued on to Cumberland Pass.
Seen many more mining sites and stop by Mirror Lake.
We also found a 50" or less trail on the side of a mountain 12,100 ft with incredible views!

Beautiful area I've ridden many times. You've captured a good deal of it. Makes me want to go back.
Now, I'm gonna be that guy... You folks really need to stay on the trails. There are a few spots in your video where you've gone off trail. That's exactly the kind of thing that is ultimately going to get these trails closed to ATV's. There is a real battle raging right now, with local trails rights advocates in the Gunnison area fighting off pressure from environmentalists to close these trails altogether. The single most pointed to issue is ATV riders going OFF TRAIL. If you care about preserving this area for future ATV riders (which I believe you do), then please stay on the trails at all times. I'm not saying you did this a lot, but every little transgression is cataloged by environmentalists who monitor these videos, trust me.
All that aside, I'm glad you guys enjoyed the area and hope you'll return. Loved your footage.
    Steve

That valley on your right hand side at the beginning looked massive! I checked out Cumberland Pass on GE. Looks like an amazing area to ride!
WOW, that is some amazing view from 12.5 thousand feet! Is that your daughter riding the red 2-wheeler?
That big spool with the wire cable was interesting. Maybe it was a winch from a giant ATV? haha!
I think I saw a real life cowboy in that log cabin town - LOL.
Riding up those mountain trails is soooo much fun! Especially when you see a "somethin'or'nother" - lol - I'd sure like to know what the heck was that pile of rocks is supposed to represent and how long has it been there? Maybe it was built by a "real life miner" a hundred years ago as a marker of some sort???
The video shot at 18:25ish and the pic you took at 18:47 = WOW! Gotta really pay attention to the trail so as to not go off or like you say, you'd be a goner!
This was the best Colorado video so far. Really enjoyed it. Thanx for sharin' KC!

Hey Q .. Yeah for us that's what it's all about riding in Colorado is the view!!! Like looking around from the mountain tops!!
Yep that's our daughter on the red Honda and son-in-law on the blue two wheeler.
I would have liked to stop and look at that "somethin'or'nother"LOL But when your riding with a group you really don't have the
time to stop and investigate somethin'or'nother or you'll get left behind!! LOL
Like when I was looking at that cable winch for large ATVs they were already down at the bottom of the hill. Hey wait on me guys!!
I like looking at that old stuff!!
We stumbled across that 50" or less trail there at the end that was on the side of a mountain. That was one of the
funnest trails!!! we like narrow trails where it feels like you'er on a trail and not a road.
With the popularity of S by S the trails get pushed out so wide you can drive a car on them or truck or jeep or Honda accord lol
Oh and by the way thanks for the best Colorado video so far!! hopefully I don't chop the next one up to bad lol hahaha
Thanks for viewing and commenting Q!!!

Where are you from? Any problems adjusting to the elevations?

    • @kcatv9556
      @kcatv9556  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hey, MattN03 .. We live in Kansas with the elevation is about 975 ft.
So yes it was quite the change there in Colorado I think the campground was at 9000 ft and of course we rode the trails that all went up from there. All of our bikes except for one is fuel injected so those bikes had no issues with the elevation change.
My buddy that had the yellow Polaris it was a little older machine and it was carbonated and yes he had to make a pretty drastic change on jetting I think the factory jetting is like 150s and I think he went down to 125's on the main jet. It helped out a little bit but it was still really down on power but it had enough power to ride the trails no problem but you could tell all the bikes were down on power.
Thanks for watching and commenting appreciated!

KC's ATV World, how did you like the Taylor Park resort? Are the trails well marked? Did anyone get elevation sickness? We're in KY @ around 600-800' elevation.

    • @kcatv9556
      @kcatv9556  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

MattN03 .. We actually stayed in the holt's guest ranch cabins just down the road from Taylor Park resort. We couldn't seem to get a reservation there at the Taylor Park cabins they were always filled up over a year in advance.
The trails yes they are Mark really well and you can pick up a trail map there at the trading post at Taylor Park. As far as elevation sickness didn't really notice any of that. The biggest issue was trying to stay hydrated. It's so dry and you don't realize that you getting dehydrated pretty quickly
I think when we were on what's called flag mountain where it is I believe 12,600 ft . You can sure tell you were at a high elevation kind of lightheaded you know what I mean.hahaha. The trip was a blast we will probably be going back out there just don't know when.

Hey, Kevin the GPS units I was using the one on the left is a automotive street version I think It's about $150.00
It's not a trail GPS just has road maps.
The one on the right is Garmin eTrex 20 price around $175 to 200 It just make a track of where you ride.
So you make your own map of where you have ridden.
If you want a map of the trails in that area you can buy a trail map at the Taylor park trading post there at Taylor park.

Don't care for ATVs. They seem to be everywhere tearing up many areas where they should not be driving. Not staying on the main roads and cutting off across country and causing some areas to be closed to All 4x4s. If the trail was 50" or less that means it's not for motorized vehicles. Just one example of poor stewardship of our mountains. Stay only on well established roads to the State don't come in and close them to everyone.
