I was on Maal just doing some random sites looking for weapons before I did the Trackers Alliance mission and at the end of an Abandoned Mine chest it contained Astra. Had no idea what it was but a message popped up on the screen saying it could be used at the new Trackers Alliance HQ. So it appears you can get Astra from other sources as well. I have a few bounties to do from the Rock will be curious if Astra is in the boss chests.
Looking in the game files, I see that the NPCs that you scan in cities, to check if they have a bounty, carry Astra, so worth killing or pickpocketing them. They are found in New Atlantis, Neon City, Gagarin, Paradiso, The Clinic starstation over Deepala in Narion system, Akila City, HopeTown, Red Mile, and New Homestead.
I find Astra in random places, I had started a new character a couple days ago. Played last night post-patch and have about 4 so far (thanks for making a video on this!). I think mostly from reward chests and one from a pirate ship I boarded.
I found one whilst taking a ship. It was in the ship's captain's locker. I talked to the tracker alliance recruiter, but hadn't visited Akila City yet.
Was quite Lucky, found one in the reward chest at the first dungeon on Kreet in my new playthrough, found other in a Captain's locker after I boarded a CF Banshee later.
A couple uniques I've founds so far, Long Distance Relationship- Is a epic hard target with hitman and anti personnel Blast Radius- a rare EM shotgun with explosive perk
I have been doing these bounties, non.Stop for the last several hours and other than the first major bounty on the board.I have not gotten a single piece of that currency.
PSA: For anyone playing with sustenance turned on. Make sure to save in the unity before going to a new universe. Right after the patch dropped I went through the unity and it stopped working. Tried a bunch of things with nothing fixing it. Decided to go through the unity again to try to fix it. Went through with sustenance turned off. It would not let me turn it back on. Reloaded to unity and went through the sustenance turned on and it works for the moment. It seems that the unity transition has a chance to break the sustenance setting after their "fix" for the bonus sneak attack damage.
@@nikolaip That is possible, but would make no sense at all if some of the game settings just don't work in certain universes. I have since gone through the unity a few more times and it seems the transition just has a chance to randomly bugout sustenance settings. Both times it has bugged I have had an ailment from the final starborn fight. I just reload into unity and try again and it works the second time even with the ailments still there. Never had this issue with the transition prior to the last patch.
Did a random bounty quest to kill a pirate whatever. I haven't interacted with any of the Tracker's alliance update content yet but I did update my game. When I completed the quest and killed the pirate, I found the Astra in the main chest for that area and a prompt told me it was used for the tracker's alliance update.
EASY UNLIMITED ASTRA During the Crimson Fleet Mission "The Best There Is", you meet Huan on the ship "Jade Swan". Astra can be in the Captain's Locker. As many as TWELVE from what I've seen. That doesn't even matter though, because after you take it, go to the lodge, wait 24 hours, go back to the locker, and there will be more. It's quick, easy, and unlimited. Stock up before it's patched.
Would have been nice if we could "forge" an item and remove a legendary effect and then forge it onto another item adding the effect. That way you could take your favorite gun, sacrifice a few junk legendaries and upgrade it. You could still require the use of Astra to do the disassembly and reassembly. Maybe cost a certain number based on how good the perk is.

By the time I got to the tracker alliance missions, I had 4 already from random mission lutes. (Usually the boss crate as I think of it). I saved and tried it several times, and kept getting gear below what I had, so not worth all that much to me.
I came to this video because I found Astra and didn’t know what it was. I found my first one on a ship I boarded while doing the Freestar Ranger’s mission taking down The First. It was in the captain’s locker.
I have found them on multiple planets in multiple facilities in Science Crates and Military Crates not regular chests it has to be the science or military chests
There's already a mod (give them kudos!) on the Nexus that ensures you get Astra at the end of every dungeon. I prefer a mod that gives 1 Astra as a reward for every Tracker's quest from their HQ board, but that will do for now
I was doing my random Bounties/Exploring things I do regular and I felt like going to Pluto.... Raided a Fracking station and Randomly found one by opening Chest... I came here because I couldn't remember they where used as Crafting or Credits🤔... Thanks for the help
Been finding Astra on high level systems. Found 3 in a row while raiding bases on Leonis IV. While only getting 1 Astra after doing 10 bounty missions.
I believe they found are in chests. I’ve only found one on a pretty fresh NG+ play through but it was in a random chest. And a message popped up saying you can find them across the galaxy and the. Trade them. I haven’t started the trackers missions tho so I didn’t know where to go
If you don’t care about achievements, there’s a mod that lets you add custom weapon perks to weapons you have with one of the benches; the way the game should have been. I hate RNG, including spending rare currencies on a chance, and having to save-scum for anything good.
Haven’t started the trackers quest yet but picked up an Astra in an end of dungeon chest in a derelict ship full of combat robots. Seems to be loot’able in the ‘boss’ chests.
You can find this new currencies on ships cargo holds as well (Hostile) Edit: as I type this I found one on the body of a Va’Ruun zealot aboard their ship instead of in the cargo hold
I had a ship smuggler spawn on a random planet and he handed me an astra and have found astra spawning in hijacked ship's cargo hulls at least once. Didn't know what they were and sold em for creds. I'm dumb.
I'v found 3 so far, all found while doing the elite bounties. I found 2 in one final chest and 1 in another. I have done 10 of these missions but only found astra twice
Interestingly I fought against a Va’ruun ship on Serpentis and after docking and killing the zealots their captains locker in their cockpit had an Astra. So maybe dock enemy ships and see if they have any onboard.
I don't do any tracker missions and have no idea where the one I got came from. I only noticed it when I sold it by accident while clearing my inventory. I bought it back to try an figure out what it was and then I got the pop up message about it being special.
it maybe random or for high level opponets.. for i have 2 on me right now.. and i was thinking that my self that it could be a rare, epic, legdendary sort of level so thanks for confirming that. i'll keep hunting for more but i feel you only gonna find them on high level fights like spacers and what not.
This sounds like a knockoff of the micro transaction RNG legendary item system that games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey had. Yikes. Good thing you can spawn it for now but... It should be part of the game we bought and used to mod weapons with legendary effects or change, etc.
For three Astras you get a Legendary weapon or a "unique" weapon of a different color. It's a pity that the uniqueness of these weapons comes down only to the name.

Reading these comments, it seems like finding the new Astra currency is pretty dang RNG, besides doing the actual TA missions, of course. I'm just glad you can find it in free roam, no matter how scarce it is, lol.
@@CrimsonFlyboy Stache only sells me Laredo weapons on my older character saves, and I've been trying to figure out why. So far the closest thing I have to a cause is completing a mission from the Freestar Rangers mission board to start the Deputized quest, but I'm not entirely convinced they are related.
Trackers alliance will be modded as the mandorians I guarantee it. Especially them having the currency that resembles that of the show. Already an easy moddable swap.
I quite liked this update and the creations, they can add so much for the game, but for now there's still not a lot of stuff in there. Just hope Bethesda will not add every single shipbuilding part only on creations though, the Mariner hab is quite cool but I got disappointed when I saw it was only one hab, with empty variant, really wish it was a full interior set. Since it is not, I will not buy that, But, without any spoilers, the first Trackers mission gave me hope to see new types of ships eventually since they kinda hint on two I would love to see, so I honestly hope it was not just lore thing and we can Actually have those. As for the new Argos missions, those I might get, but I need to see a bit more about it first, those could be quite fun, would love to build some space mining rigs. As for a mod I've been wanting and have not seen yet in creations is the one to have more ship dock space, this would be great since I build a lot and have to constantly sell my ships. Also, the ship building company mod looks very fun too, also hope to see it in creations. I mean, I understand why people get angry for paying for all of that in creations, but if the mods are verified by the game dev team and approved, then I don't really mind paying for those DLC like mods for the game, although I do admit that quality of life mods or the more simple esthetic mods should not come with a price. To me only mods worth of a DLC are worth the price, the others I'm so sure about....
I did 3 missions from the tracker terminal, (located in the basement of the new tracker building - some room as the robot), and found no Astras to loot and received no Astras as bounty reward. I killed the target in each case.
I'll just stick to legendary farming the old fashioned way, I hate the amount of faffing around i have to do just to get an RNG roll. I'll just stick to running dungeons on extreme difficulty, usually guaranteed 2 legendarys if not some times 3 per run..
I found 6 astra total after raiding a whole bunch of facilities. I don't know how I received them as I grab everything on the go. Based on that I would say that they won't be easy to come by. Used all 6 and received......... junk. A little disappointed as it was a grind (I wasn't looking for them at all) just getting 6. Maybe there are specific locations where they spawn. All in all pretty cool.
You should be able to save the game right before you buy a weapon from him and if you don’t like it you can reload your save and try again until you get the weapon you want.
Do the Astra pass trough NG+? I did the 1st mission of the Trackers alliance, went through the Unity a few days later, now I notice I have 1 Astra, but I didn't did nothing for the trackers Alliance, since I didn't run the quest in NG+. Could they appear on Extreme Difficulty, I play at 75% XP because the game is to easy, even with just melee.
So, in the alive quests, do the bounties turn themselves in or do you have to transport them and finally use the cells in the armories? (I bet I'm going to be disappointed)😂

I got an astra when doing the quest from the bar owner at the crimson fleet when he wants you to get his wife's ring back, spawned in the end loot chest.
It won't let me advance past the initial guy in akila in the mission for trackers alliance. Is there a perk you need or something? I'm on a fresh start playthrough
@@CrimsonFlyboy yes I click the bounty. Afterwards we go to find the first guy in the I guess you can call it tutorial phase of the mission. All he does is run around and it will not allow me to interact with him. I've tried shooting him, patiently following, reloading saves at multiple points even before starting the quest line, rebooted game. The quest is broke no matter how many tries

I've found that the captain's lockers on Va'ruun ships encountered in the Serpentis system are a pretty reliable source of Astra.

Yeah, that seems to be how you unlock more, which is good for the gameplay loop

Just prior the update I got a legendary EM rifle that I modded to over 400 damage.

Kind of like legendary modules in FO76, might be able to use Astra to reroll legendary mods on weapons at some point.

Stache must be a percentage for the number of Astra like 80% Legendary for 3 but 20% to get lower tier. I wonder if it works the other way around?

You can also find Astras when you loot an enemy corpse.
Yes, you can find them in crates. I found 2 in a crate during Sam Coe’s companion quest.
The other 2 'main' bounties are behind the creation club pay wall.
The astra bars are in random high level loot boxes anywhere in the game.

You get astra for doing bounty missions from the kiosk as well, even before you do the new storyline. I did it last night.

I just finished the free star collective missions and recieved astra at the end.
There are astras everywhere. Raid ecliptic ships or forts

Use the nova disruptor to get bounties for alive

I think they will be hard to come by, since you only need 1,2 or 3 of them.
It's actually not too bad, it's pretty much found on most end game encounters and loot chests
The armor not being superior and having no effects is pretty lame.

I got one from a spacer corpse on a freestar mission... Just one, out of30 pirate dead
You should be able to save the game right before you buy a weapon from him and if you don’t like it you can reload your save and try again until you get the weapon you want.

Nothing should tranfer between unity, might be a bug

There is a mission board in the crafting room down stairs in the trackers alliance base. ( where the robot is )

It's a silverish metal used to pay a bounty hunter. It's not exactly beskar, but there are clearly similarities

I found astra in the debris of a bounty sanctioned ship.
If you have only 3 I'm sure you could save scum and keep trying until you get what you want.

The weapon is a "plasma cutter", more like a plasma rifle, lol. The armor looks goofy AF though, I agree. They could've done better.
So, in the alive quests, do the bounties turn themselves in or do you have to transport them and finally use the cells in the armories? (I bet I'm going to be disappointed)😂
Lore wise someone will come pick them up, but in game once you knock them out, it completes the bounty

Off topic but relevant are any of y’all finding ammo mats in the wild? So far I’ve just had to vendor them.
well they did patch in craftable ammo to the Vanilla build so you should be able to craft some without much effort
@@crazymammoth Have to have Primers (either Small or Large) or Diodes to craft ammo. So far (just watching vids) I have only seen primers in stock at vendors.

Couldn't start the quest because it didn't allow me to pick up the quest from the board..
You don't pick it up from the board, you start the whole thing by fast travelling and meeting the mysterious tracker
@@CrimsonFlyboy yes, what I mean is that you meet the tracker, get invited, talk to no. 1 and then are supposed to pick the mission from the board. That doesn't work for me.

I killed a captain and took the ship and the captain had 2 astra on him. that was no mission, i was just flying around
So it seems you can find them in the world. That's good to know, makes the gameplay loop more rewarding
Just don't join the free star rangers, if you do the gear you can get will be limited to free star weapons. In other words junk.

It won't let me advance past the initial guy in akila in the mission for trackers alliance. Is there a perk you need or something? I'm on a fresh start playthrough
What part exactly, have you spoken to the main agent and clicked the bounty picture on the big screen
@@CrimsonFlyboy yes I click the bounty. Afterwards we go to find the first guy in the I guess you can call it tutorial phase of the mission. All he does is run around and it will not allow me to interact with him. I've tried shooting him, patiently following, reloading saves at multiple points even before starting the quest line, rebooted game. The quest is broke no matter how many tries
