I didn't realize the "when I was a little boy" line was a joke. But, that's not exactly surprising, as earlier media has a lot things that probably made people laugh at the time, but I take seriously.
really interested to see what they're gonna do with rose this november. my expectations are firmly mediocre but i'd be lying if the thought of donna noble raising a trans daughter doesn't make me 🥺🥺🥺🥺 in my heart a bit
Support a good vibes! Very thoughtful analysis. Cassandra was a very complex character. I remember her mentioning she had been a little boy, but hadn't thought much beyond, "yep, sounds like a doctor who character!"
oh i loved this analysis! i've watched dw since i was around 9 or 10, so it's nice to see video essays and character analyses for a show that was a major part of my childhood
Same boat here, I’m working on another character analysis right now. I by no means intended to become the guy who talks about doctor who but it’s very hard to stop making these
watching this video is very eye opening, its really cool to watch a video about a topic like this and the person actually be affected by it in a meaningful way, and not just a left wing commentator saying a surface level disclaimer (im not saying that's bad, just that this is far more interesting). youre able to add an insane level of personal insight that i could never be able to give, watching this was a constant string of new stuff to think about being beamed directly into my brain.
✋️ hi I did know that she was trans but only because I have the type of autism that makes me obsessively memorise throwaway lines in doctor who 😓 I really enjoyed this analysis, cassandra is criminally underrated imo
alright, just since you asked for the algo (however much that helps four months later); i agree that cassandra is undeniably a trans woman, but i disagree with her relatability. she's a very clear analogy for racism via eugenics, openly viewing human-alien hybrids as less worthy than her, a full biological human. that said, i love your initial reading of her as a commentary on the beauty industry. i had never considered that!
Sorry if I’m misunderstanding but I talked about that aspect of her character and how it was handled in pretty clear detail. My point was that she can be read a number of ways and she provides commentary on a number of topics, some of which are handled well and some of which are handled poorly. My conclusion that she could potentially be relatable to a trans audience was not in reference to her racism and I’m sorry if that was unclear. I was referring entirely to the way her transness was presented, not to any other aspects of her character. She is definitely an awful person lol. Thank you for the comment though! I won’t lie I don’t care much about the algorithm I mainly just like to hear real people respond to the things I have to say which is why I respond to so many comments. My favourite part of making videos is reading comments, if TH-cam didn’t have a comment feature I would definitely not make videos
good video! my first video on my channel addresses the trans character in Moffat's first series hidden in plain sight XD I hope ur channel takes off enuf to get decent support... I'm also an autistic trans... and I super duper rely on unpaid care from a friend to exist... like, without it, idk how I'd exist... so yeh, I hope ur able to source care for urself somehow
comment for the algorithm!! also if you're interested in a show that does a good job overall of having a variety of queer characters that aren't tokenised or "perfect" queers i'd recommend sex education, especially the last season :)))
Great Video! I guess a tip I can give is make the Thumbnail a bit more readable with a dark stroke around the title and don't be afraid to throw in more semi relevant clips between the talking head bits.
I edited this video in a couple of hours lol, the thumbnail was actually “unfinished” when I was done but I didn’t feel like changing it anymore. I know it’s hard to read lmfao I kind of do that on purpose in all my thumbnails. I would be offended about how confidently you offered unsolicited advice but tbh I kind of respect the audacity so thank you sir
The sole reason why I missed the single line that revealed Cassandra and trans is because I don't really like Christopher Eccleston's season of Doctor Who so I never watched it during my many binges
I find Sharaz Jek from The Caves of Androzani to be a strangely relatable allegory for gender dysphoria, even though that's almost certainly unintentional and I'm committing several war crimes by even feeling this way.
I would love her if she wasn’t a hugenisist and it ruined her character because she would have been a victim and she still is so I feel like it shouldn’t have been there

Ahh same I would be lying if I said she didn’t inspire this video somewhat. The future is bright I think!

I haven't watched a single episode of this show and I'm not interested in it BUT I love watching people overanalyze things they like so. Great video
As a trans autistic woman myself, you are very attractive and funny
I know ❤️❤️thank you

Overanalysis that no one asked for but that I desperately need more of!
