I know a lot of people hate the new voice narrator for the Elder Scrolls lore series, but this guy's voice is PERFECT for describing Daedric Princes like Namira and Peryite. To me, it has a really deep, calming but also intimidating and evil sound to it; awesome... I mean, just listen to the guy's voice from 5:35 onwards, particularly when he describes the cannibalism of Namira's cultists/// O.o
I think he is a perfect narrator for the Deadric princes because his voice sound like a hermit or an ancient sage, its gives a feeling of mystique and intrigue that reflects the Deadric princes themselves
Andrew Norris I hope they dont change him. He is perfect for TES lore. Imagine like you go to tavern after a hard day and he tells you stories of rich lore of TES world.
I think you can hear his confusion - of late whoever has been writing these lore episodes has become really rather verbose and sloppy. There are several times over this where he used the same verb twice in the same sentence. It's not so much that he is poor, it's that the writing is.
I just want to say, this new narrator sounds like he's having way too much fun with the daedric princes. He seems to roll his voice perfectly to make names, events, and... really, anything, sound just so sinister. Bravo, guys.
Nisil The Dunmer but it's still not outside her scope of power :V she "blessed" the beggar prince with disease, revulsion and pity, so she can control the aspect of disease. corrosion and rot is associated with decay and death (she is the mistress of decay). and pestilences are associated with the above. if the beggar prince were to wish to have a power from namira, it would be the power to shake the kingdom so he could claim what he covets so hard: the throne. were he to command the powers namira commands, he could easily come off as the savior of his realm by reversing the effects of his power (though as a daedric power, i doubt he would be able to, but such is the price of greed, after all, and consorting with things evil)
How i personally see it is that he doesn't use his force directly Unlike Malog Bal, he uses his powers not to prove he is powerful, but to simply control the power; Using his powers only invisibly akin to a disease :D
Question of the week: Namira was one of the Daedric Princes who made no appearance in Morrowind, besides being mentioned in books. blackhand892 I remember hearing rumors, when Elder Scrolls 5 was announced, that it would be set in Akavir and I got so excited about it. I was little disapointed when we got Skyrim instead, but I hold out hopes for TES6 taking the hugely bold step of shifting the setting to the Eastern continent of Nirn, because I loved reading about Akavir and its amazing sounding kingdoms of vampire snake people, kung-fu monkeys, the realm of the Tiger-Dragon Emperor and the Frozen Hell and its demon inhabitants
Matticuss StormBlade Akavir is seriously epic. Its where the Blades originally came from and its where most of the dragons went to after the Dragon Wars and Alduin's defeat by the ancient Nordic heros. In every Elder Scrolls game, there is a book to be found called Mysterious Akavir that tells you all about it, its kingdoms and the peoples there. Picture the setup of being another prisoner (Its Elder Scrolls traditon), drafted from the Imperial prison to be crew on another expedition to Akavir, your ship is destroyed and you wash up on the shore, beginning your adventure from there, with a whole new, almost totally alien land to explore, complete with at least four different factions to join (The aformentioned Vampire Snakes, Kung Fu monkeys, Samurai Cats and Demons from the frozen hell)
I found it hilarious in that Wheedle went to Namira, a Prince who revels in decay and filth for power for the sole purpose of making his fortune. What did he expect from Namira to begin with if not be blessed with gifts of disease, pity and disregard?
WOW! The voice acting is always goods in this series but this one is AMAZING. Wonderfull job on the voice! I had chills! This is one of the many reasons why this is the definite elderscrolls youtube series!
I don't get the hype of Sheogorath. He is the most well known daedric prince, you should be more interested in the lesser known ones, like these two and the next. It teaches you more.
Is Sheo the most well known? I wonder how many people understand his importance as the Sithis shaped hole of the universe that was created when Lorkhan's divine spark was removed. Not to mention the Enantiomorphic possibilities presented and the dichotomy of Sheo/Jyg and its mirroring of Lorkhan/Akatosh. I mean really, most people see Sheogorath and just see CHEESE.
Great work as usual guys... I especially liked the sinister tone the narrator took in this video. You guys do better writing, design and voice acting that most AAA blockbuster games. Be very proud of yourselves guys.
That was a great episode. I now understand what distinguishes Namira from Peryite. I really enjoy the little stories that lead up to the main subject as well.
Thing is she's a double-edged sword. On the one hand she is the patron and protector of the outcast, but on the other hand she revels in the disgusting and disturbing and inflicts such things upon those she wishes to protect and bless. How'd you like it if a supernatural being gave you an incurable disease and they said 'but I was only trying to help! D:' I get what you mean though, she is perhaps more maltreated than she should be since she's more simply different than malicious. But then most the daedra and their worshipers are looked down on in the Elder Scrolls universe despite several princes+cults being simply misunderstood and not so bad
***** I guess they both cover different kinds of outcasts? That would make sense. Namira tends to favour those outcast due to being seen as disgusting like the diseased or those that pursue extreme taboo (like cannibals) whereas Malacath seems to favour the more general outcasts, like the orcs/orsimer. People more or less outcast just 'cuz due to general social stigma than out of revulsion. At least that's how I see it
But you could also say that Malacath is the prince of outcasts having created the orcs, who are the biggest outcasts in tamriel and their name (orsimer) translating into pariahfolk
I think it doesn't matter. She is still a Daedric Prince and she don't give a shit what them pathetic mortals think of them because she knows deep down that she is still above them despite her sphere of influence.
The Beggar Prince. It increases your Pickpocket skill by 1 in Skyrim and can be found in Bleak Falls Barrow. I do not remember if it is a skill book in Oblivion or Morrowind.
Connor Hinsley Yes the book is in both Oblivion and Morrowind. I actually read this story from the book in Oblivion first before Skyrim when I was lore searching through the Mages Guild's library.
For those who have NO prior knowledge of Lore, VAERMINA in next NOT Sheogorath, gesh... they hear affliction of the mind and they all jump to the jolly mad god.
Usually the next daedric lord they do has some relation to the last one. So with vaermina being dreams and nightmares, and affliction of the mind who's the closest lord to that? Sheogorath, with vaermina using nightmares people don't get sleep when people don't sleep they start to go mad from lack of sleep that's when sheo comes in. So fingers crossed that the one after vaermina is Sheogorath.
Geez, it's gotten to the point where I just hit Like as soon as the video loads and wonder why you can't click the button more than once, once the video is over... Good job guys. I look forward to these more than any TV show. How weird is that?
The beggar prince: I just met the goddess of decay and revulsion, I think the best option is to make her take me on as her apprentice, what could possibly go wrong
I'd revel at the chance. She's more powerful than any of the other Daedra. Disgust and decay are just inconsequential side effects and how mortals can perceive a modicum of her true power.
This season started with some prominent Tamrielic figures then shifted to the individual daedric princes. There were still many more important figures left in history that could be explored and I hope to see them again in the future episodes. Relevant examples: Mannimarco, The Tharn Imperials, Vanus Galerion, Divayth Fyr, Shalidor, the faction leaders in Elder Scrolls Online, the guilds, the Blades, the races of Akavir, and other major subjects like magic in Nirn, necromancy, creatures and many more.
you know I actually gotta respect peryite. He doesn't go for the super showy glory, he doesn't need to prove how fearsome and powerful he is, he just does what he enjoys
Spellbreaker. My favorite daedric artifact for a warrior character. I use to love it because it seemed as if dragons couldn't touch you, but it still hurts if you go up against a legendary or revered dragon.
Woke up five minutes ago (3AM) to my phone out of sight, playing this at an unsettlingly quiet yet audible volume. At first terrified at hearing a far-off, baritone, and cold matter-of-fact voice narrating a story of a deal with the devil... I am now mesmerized.
A lot of the planes of Oblivion are made of darkness, a lot of the Daedric princes must really love there father's (Sithis) and his father's (Padomay) work a lot.
Of all the daedric princes, vaermina is the only one who truly outright scares me. This is for the simple reson that she is the only one who's evil is truly inescapable. Everyone needs to sleep eventually and when you do she's free to prey on your fears.
Namira disguising herself as a harmless beggar in the Elder Scrolls seems quite similar to Bahamut disgusing himself as an old man in Dungeons and Dragons.
I really wish they would flesh Peryite out more. His roll as the task master and in particular his description as "the puss in the wound... that drinks foul humors and restores the blood" have always fascinated me.
Here are a couple ideas for daedric artifacts based on Namira and Peryite. Staff of Namira - Sprays a trail of venomous vermin at enemies at some will gradually grow in size and attack enemies nearby as well. these growing bugs can vary from acidic slugs, blood sucking worms, toxic spiders, spike covered beetles and painfully stinging flies. after 30 seconds the insects will explode all types of random diseases inflicting either bleed, poison or disease damage. the major drawback of this staff is that the wielder is inflicted with the three gifts of the beggar prince such as illness, pity and disregard. you choose one random disease of your choice, and people will toss a coin at you but will steer clear of your presence. wielding the staff will also make you smell worse than filth. Armor of Peryite -. At first glance it looks like a set of dragon scale armor that is half rotted. Once you wear it, not only does it make you immune to fall damage, but each time you press the jump button, wings sprout out and flap mid-air allowing you to fly. Another ability is that a pestilent fog will cover anyone below you, giving them lingering poison damage. the downside of this armor is that you are also poisoned while wearing it doing 15 poison damage every 3 seconds
Hey SC could you guys do a Dark/Demon Souls Lore series? bc I really don't get the lore as well as the "deep" Elder Scrolls Lore (Lorkhan, Magna Ge etc.) and your videos are always so to the point, compact and clear. Keep up the great work guys!
It also blocks Dragon shouts as if it were a spell. Spellbreaker has kind of a op item if you like block skill. Since by game mechanics Dragon shouts are considered Spells so Spell breaker and Wards can repel shouts. Tested it myself.
Jyggalag and sheogorath needs to have a video together since they both used to one in the same until the Hero of Kvatch fought him during the grey march
Since they're covering the Daedric Princes, and did somewhat cover Sithis in the Dark Brotherhood video, i think they should do a video on the God of Worms, Mannimarco. At the end of TES II: Daggerfall, due to the Dragonbreak, Mannimarco recieved the Mantella and used it's power to ascend to godhood, and became the God of Worms. The "Mannimarco" you kill at the end of the Mage's Guild questline in TES IV: Oblivion, was nothing more than a simulacrum, since even before godhood, Mannimarco was a Lich. The Revenant Moon, is said to be the physical manifestation of the God of Worms, which is how Necromancers make Black Soul Gems.
I love how the narrator says something really creepy at the end then cheerily says "but that's a story for another day" PS Shoddycast, I love your work but if your going to need a bit more time to work on the next video say so at least instead of having that soul crushing August 29th
So I guess that since Vaermina brings disease to the mind in the form of nightmares, Sheogorath will be after her since he brings disease to the mind in the form of madness.
peryite's plane of oblivion sounds (and in the video looks) a lot like mehrunes dagon's plane, as depicted from oblivion. ruins, molten rock and volcanic islands.
To be honest, I really liked the other voice actor, and kind of didn't want him to stop doing it. But this guy is just so fucking amazing its palpable.
Hate? REALLY?
This is great narration!
imagine him as a white Morgan Freeman
Bravo, guys.
what gifts did weedle think he would get from the god of disease and rot?
+Dr. Barber the power to control pestilences at will? plagues? corrosion and rot?
+raykin That's Peryite stuff.
Nisil The Dunmer but it's still not outside her scope of power :V
she "blessed" the beggar prince with disease, revulsion and pity, so she can control the aspect of disease. corrosion and rot is associated with decay and death (she is the mistress of decay). and pestilences are associated with the above.
if the beggar prince were to wish to have a power from namira, it would be the power to shake the kingdom so he could claim what he covets so hard: the throne.
were he to command the powers namira commands, he could easily come off as the savior of his realm by reversing the effects of his power (though as a daedric power, i doubt he would be able to, but such is the price of greed, after all, and consorting with things evil)
Maybe some bread or something
+raykin So basically, Namira CAN turn mortals into ghouls if she wants to.
Idk why, but I love the story teller's voice so much.
i personally find it kind of annoying
Kinda funny how Peryite is considered the weakest Daedric prince but in Skyrim he gives one of, if not, the best Daedric artifacts in the game.
the only one i go for the rest i couldn't care less about xD
except for wabbajack
How i personally see it is that he doesn't use his force directly Unlike Malog Bal, he uses his powers not to prove he is powerful, but to simply control the power; Using his powers only invisibly akin to a disease :D
So that is where all his power went....
His shield is the same thing as a ward, except it doesn't require magika. So i guess your view could go both ways.

his voice is sooooo perfect

Namira AND Peryite? Both of my fav daedra? ShoddyCast, I LOVE YOU!
Troll eagle flying backwards at 5:18. Top of the screen. He is too cool to fly forward :P
WOW!
The voice acting is always goods in this series but this one is AMAZING. Wonderfull job on the voice! I had chills! This is one of the many reasons why this is the definite elderscrolls youtube series!
Wow, you help a god and think you'll get swag or something. "Nah, a free tshirt is fine thanks Namira, already got herpes, loved your first album!"
Sean Reynolds WHAT. this comment is responsible for my death. I can’t breathe.
Wouldn't a valenwood elder scrolls game be amazing? The gorgeous environments, maybe a tree climbing mechanic, maybe a revamped sneaking function

It´s because his staff transmutes living beings into other living beings.
This episode, particularly, was very well produced! Thanks for the fantastic job, ShoddyCast!
Has any noticed how many things are described as being 'shrouded in darkness' in this series?
Credit to you guys, watching this full screen with the lights off was genuinely creepy at times.
I love this series of Lores, it makes me start up Skyrim every time i see an episode
Spiders repulsive....I fking love spiders xD Namira and me gonna be good "friends"
Not sure you would like a giant frostbite spider 2 meters tall, the kind you find in Skyrim ;)
MrCorvusC ....You have seen my modlist....I have mods to make the SPIDERS look better.......
Peryite might be low in the daeddric hierarchy, but I've always liked his gift the most.
I have to say, the way he delivered the story of Wheedle shifting it from a simple story to a scary story is just fucking brilliant.
I think the man behind the narration of these videos is by far the best choice possible.
favorite video of the princes so far. great job! keep it up!
Am I the only one who imagines the little worm Pokemon Weedle following Namira around???
Prodigy Games hahahaha
I think Namira is so misunderstood. She's a beacon for social-outcasts and I think that's quite a respectable quality

BaronVonEvilstein
But doesn't Namira like 'that'?
isn't the first story from the book "Beggar"?
The Beggar Prince. It increases your Pickpocket skill by 1 in Skyrim and can be found in Bleak Falls Barrow. I do not remember if it is a skill book in Oblivion or Morrowind.
Connor Hinsley Yes the book is in both Oblivion and Morrowind. I actually read this story from the book in Oblivion first before Skyrim when I was lore searching through the Mages Guild's library.
Connor Hinsley thanks
cooljammy13 why haven't you used www.imperial-library.info/
adrian nitu I do lol. I like reading through as much sources as I can in game though, feels authentic to me.
This is the best voice acting by the new narrator so far. Amazing work!
For those who have NO prior knowledge of Lore, VAERMINA in next NOT Sheogorath, gesh... they hear affliction of the mind and they all jump to the jolly mad god.
I have seen no comments of people sheogorath is next...
Wen I checked every third coment was of people glearing how happy they are Sheo is next, his not!
as Sheogorath seems to be the most popular Daedric prince, I think it would make the most sense to have him as the last one in the Daedra sub-series
***** I know the book you're referring to, great read!
This is the first video of yours I've seen, and you can color me impressed. Bloody well done.
i swear the narrator for this just keeps getting better
3:01 The chills man, the chills.
Geez, it's gotten to the point where I just hit Like as soon as the video loads and wonder why you can't click the button more than once, once the video is over...
Good job guys.
I look forward to these more than any TV show. How weird is that?
LOVED his voice in this one. Really set the mood quite perfectly. :3
"Eating mortal flesh"
So, everyone then? Beef flesh is mortal flesh you know...
God I love the narrator. His voice is prefect for this series. It fitted very well in this episode, can really send the chills down the spine.
It might have already been said but this narrator is AWESOME
This voice is so calming, I almost fell asleep. Keep this narrator, the bastard has really nice voice!
W00T! I've been waiting on these two!!!
And ESPECIALLY the next episode!!!
The voice of the speaker is awesome! Give that man a price!
$19.95
Beggar Prince - One of my favourite TES books.
you know I actually gotta respect peryite. He doesn't go for the super showy glory, he doesn't need to prove how fearsome and powerful he is, he just does what he enjoys
Great work ShoddyCast the videos keep getting better and better
This episode was the greatest ^^ wow! I've never been so immersed while watching this lore series!
Peryite is easily my favorite Daedric prince.
mine is Jyggalag (sorry for misspelling)
The O Taco Oooh, Jyggalag is a good one too,
***** Been planning on changing it for quite some time :D I changed it before i even saw your comment, sorry.
The O Taco jyggalag the lord of biscuits or something ...mine is Sheogorath Lord of CHEESE
wayne harrison BISCUITS ARE THE MOST POWERFUL FORCE IN THE UNIVERSE!!!
Wish these were weekly, always look forward to the next one :)
I am now mesmerized.
best outro lead up thing EVER! it was total awesome. i dont even like Vermina, but he made it sound so awesome!!!
A lot of the planes of Oblivion are made of darkness, a lot of the Daedric princes must really love there father's (Sithis) and his father's (Padomay) work a lot.

Cannibalism isn't taboo for the Bosmer. >:D
When the mind was mentioned I was like "Yes, the mad god comes" then nightmares were brought up...
I really like these Elder Scrolls Lore videos :)
Poor Namira and Peryite, there's so little information about them they have to share an episode XD
"....that none could look upon the lowly figure without being compelled to toss a coin....." TO YOU WHEEDLE, OH VALLEY OF PLENTY!!!
Really do enjoy watching these lore vids guys keep up the good work
Namira disguising herself as a harmless beggar in the Elder Scrolls seems quite similar to Bahamut disgusing himself as an old man in Dungeons and Dragons.
darn, the person who's speaking must have a level 100 speechcraft with all perks unlocked course its just entrancing to listen
I really wish they would flesh Peryite out more. His roll as the task master and in particular his description as "the puss in the wound... that drinks foul humors and restores the blood" have always fascinated me.
Holy shit. VERY NICE voice acting on this particular episode. GG
Namira, the Daedric Prince of Decay, finally has her own spotlight.
When you were speaking about the cannibalism I got goosebumps
I fuckin love this narrator.
Assuming the next kalpa ever comes, Peryite will likely become the Akatosh of that kalpa.
I got some inspiration to start designing a custom character build partially centered around Namira's ring.
holy mother of god, the narrator has the most amazing voice.
That ending...and of course i watch this just before i go to bed.
Here are a couple ideas for daedric artifacts based on Namira and Peryite.
Staff of Namira - Sprays a trail of venomous vermin at enemies at some will gradually grow in size and attack enemies nearby as well. these growing bugs can vary from acidic slugs, blood sucking worms, toxic spiders, spike covered beetles and painfully stinging flies. after 30 seconds the insects will explode all types of random diseases inflicting either bleed, poison or disease damage. the major drawback of this staff is that the wielder is inflicted with the three gifts of the beggar prince such as illness, pity and disregard. you choose one random disease of your choice, and people will toss a coin at you but will steer clear of your presence. wielding the staff will also make you smell worse than filth.

the voice actor for these videos is breathtaking. reminds me of lucien lachance a bit
It also blocks Dragon shouts as if it were a spell. Spellbreaker has kind of a op item if you like block skill.
Since by game mechanics Dragon shouts are considered Spells so Spell breaker and Wards can repel shouts. Tested it myself.
I completely thought that they were going to do Sheogorath there for a second, much disappoint! We want our CHEESE now!
ShoddyCast you guys should post often
Jyggalag and sheogorath needs to have a video together since they both used to one in the same until the Hero of Kvatch fought him during the grey march
The ring is "Ok," but that shield is probably one of the best items in all the elder scroll games.
Can't wait for the next one :)
I like Mara, Meridia, and even Talos whose legend converted him into a deity. His shrines cure illnesses.
Really good voice acting in this one!
I love how the narrator says something really creepy at the end then cheerily says "but that's a story for another day"
PS Shoddycast, I love your work but if your going to need a bit more time to work on the next video say so at least instead of having that soul crushing August 29th

Damn that voice is pure gold!
this one helps me go to sleep :)
this ep.. seems to be a bit short but still good. I was left hangin.. still a great vid
peryite's plane of oblivion sounds (and in the video looks) a lot like mehrunes dagon's plane, as depicted from oblivion. ruins, molten rock and volcanic islands.
ThibautVDP It was. Bethesda used Mehrunes Dagon's Realm instead of Peryite's. They did the same with Boethiah's Realm.
To be honest, I really liked the other voice actor, and kind of didn't want him to stop doing it. But this guy is just so fucking amazing its palpable.
Sanguine is the nicest, comical and fun, daedric prince
