Legolas sacrificing his appetite, killing each Uruk-hai and being forced to eat the corpse afterwards. Later, he gets a massive stomach-ache and passes out from over-eating, along with the other Elves who ate each Orc they slay. ...I wonder how orcs taste like.
The Elder Scrolls: Valenwood Needs to be a game at some point. It would be really graphically taxing with all the leaves to animate, but it would be fucking beautiful.
It is the most probable area for the next game currently. Bethesda have something called "Project Greenhardt" (probably spelled that wrong) Greenhardt is a city in Vallenwood.
I would love for them to keep sticking with one province at a time that way most there time is spent working on detailed assets of that province instead of trying to fit one more in there and making a mess. elder scrolls isn't just about provinces either it has it's own story from main quest and from the random stuff you fine and the time spent around that cultures history. size is also not a important factor because Valenwood appears smaller on map but it does not mean they have to make it the size of that map. They can make it bigger then skyrim. they will not make a provinces the same size as the map you see the maps everyone see are just ideal location of Tamriel
exactly alot of stuff would just be saved for later or just completely removed to keep the game the size they want which is why i'm against the idea of making 2 provinces in one setting because alot of stuff would be removed that sand storm you mention probably would never happen because the engine won't allow it but if Elsweyr was made a single provinces they would have it. People mostly want double provinces because they don't want to wait 4 to 5 years to just to play the province they want. and the map size issue people overlook the problem. I don't mind what province gets released because so far i loved every single one that has been made. I wish i could fill in more reason why i hate the idea but i don't know how to word it rip.
Getting really annoyed with all the people saying stuff like "Omg, Skyrim breaks the lore because if you play as a wood elf, you can't eat the people you kill, omg." He says right at the start of the video that the rules of the green pact only apply AS LONG AS THEY STILL CALL VALENWOOD THEIR HOME.
while there have been plenty of Nords who have been Dragonborn, not all Dragonborn are Nords, i think it was mentioned in the lore that there was an Altmer who was a Dragonborn (or at least strongly implied to be one.)
Yeah he was the antagonist in Oblivion. Who ruled the Mythic Dawn cult. He was half altmer and half bosmer though. But he said he had learned to speak in a new language. And that was probably the Dragon tongue.
mutegrab666 I hope that wasn't passive aggressive. But yeah I thought the madness thing was like a hug skooma problem within their home land since alot of them have addiction.
Ezra Rhoads dude, its a game chill, and he left Valenwood, not many woodelves do that butt the ones who does break the woodelves rules thing so they are no longer bound to it, so he problemly doesnt eat people, and if he did, he would sell meat because he has to eat all the meat he hunts
How to troll in Skyrim: Marry Camilla (riverwood trader lady) Build home (hearthfire dlc) Make Sven (love triangle guy #1) the steward Get the elf as your follower :)
Playing as a Bosmer in Valenwood could have some interesting and unique perks. Such as lesser animals, mud crab, wolves, etc don't attack you but do attack enemies, unless they too are Bosmer. Deer and other prey don't flee until you draw a weapon. If you kill an animal and don't loot it and take its hide and meat you gain a curse for a time. Picking alchemical ingredients physically hurts you. Your sneak and bow damage gain a bonus while crouching in forested areas. If you don't want to eat every bandit you come across you can craft weapons designed to injure but not kill enemies, forcing them to submit and hand over any quest items you need from them, such as keys.
For the sake of simplicity the games always take a "you're an outsider" approach to the PC's background in relation to the setting. I'm sure a "Native Bosmer" mod would come about quickly though IF they make an Elder Scrolls: Valenwood or my preferred title à la Oblvion--> Elder Scrolls: Silvenar
aaaaand I just broke down laughing at the bit with the Bosmer buying woodcrafts. the image of a bosmer warrior with a cartwheel shield and a bucket helm is hilarious.
It's funny because in reality a meat only diet would ultimately be worse for the environment than an omnivorous one. Inevitable over hunting would cause the forest to become dangerously unbalanced. Responsible harvesting of plants like fruits, nuts, and greens would be much more responsible. Maybe I'm reading too far into this mythical place lol...
Responsibility isnt their goal though. A pristine untouched forset is. They probably dont give af about ecosystems or endangered wildlife. They dont even respect fallen foes.
If they make it, I hope Elder Scrolls 6 is in Valenwood and Elsweyr with the final stage of the main quest (a war against the High Elves) giving the player access to the Summerset Isles and then we could even have a Black Marsh DLC.
That would be cool but, they would have to put a lot of content for the Black Marsh DLC and potentionally the summerset isle could be a whole DLC in it self
Valenwood, like Elsweyr and Black Marsh, is too small. Valenwood and Elsweyr provide a fantastic contract between magical forests and mystical deserts!!!
God dammit, just like everyone else, you forget the point of the first season; to show you a basic overview of each race and the most important pieces of Tamrielic history. The next few seasons will be about more specific things like the Wild Hunt, or The Warp in the West.
CrazyNerdMonkey Would be harder to get fat considering they consume a truckload of protein, which can take up to 20% of the ingested calories to metabolize the remaining 80%,not to forget that they do constant cardio..
I've never been any character other than a Wood Elf ! And i thank you for all your hard work and the mentality to do all this in the first place ! Thanks again
The Wood Elves is my #1 favorite race! I love their lore, their design, everything. Valenwood is like a beautiful forest and stuff too, and I love nature! I also love the stat or skill bonuses you get from the race. My friends usually tell me, "Dude you can't love nature, you kill it, you're vegan." I disagree.....not that anyone on planet earth cares about this whole comment tho so =.= just felt like sharing.
I love this series, i've been downloading every entry onto my Ipod and i love listening to them in class or while riding my bike. Keep up the amazing work ShoddyCast!
I know someone who's vegan who plays almost exclusively as a Wood Elf because "they live in the forest, they're the most likely to not eat meat" I wonder if I should send them this video?
Ah fuck it. My Wood Elves never cannibalize and love to pick plants and herbs for their alchemy experiments. Then again, I like the idea of RPing as a Wood Elf who gave the finger to their gods and went their own way.
Tishen Ahmun They only need to follow the green pact if they are in Valenwood, they can do whatever they want anywhere else, thats why they import goods such as wood.
How time flies, I remember when I fell in love with Skyrim. I accidently stumbled upon your videos when looking for walk throughs, at the time you had barely started your lore series and I remember being so intrigued by this fictional world and all these stories I remember waiting so long for the Bosmer video and the excitement that came when you finally released it... I love your Content and all these vids just bring back so much Nostalgia thank you for all the good memories!
I just started a new character as a Bosmer and set her up to be a hunter and I didn't know about the lore so this was fun. To make it complete I just need to ring of Namira.
This is one of my favorite videos by you guys. The quote at the beginning really sets the tone for the whole piece and the choice of pictures was well organized. I always thought the Bosmer were kind of silly, like many Elves. Then I watched this and read more of their lore and I fell in love with the race and the idea of visiting Valenwood. It's the only reason I'm joining the Aldmeri Dominion in ESO.
Thank you for these stories. As a practitioner of Chaos Magic(k) I often times work with subjectively fictional mythos and more than a few times the myths of the Elder Scrolls have made it into my practice. These videos help to give more gravitas to the myths and I sincerely thank you for making them :) Once I have a little money to spare it will be coming your way :)
kunven Yes you should know that many words in different languages meaning approximately the same thing are very similar, but Teneco is right, the writes got Bosmer from the dutch "Bos"
i wish the next elder scrolls game setting would be all tamriel (excluding the elder scrolls online), with detailed and more diversity like elder scrolls: skyrim
yeah i think, i never played arena before, but it would be great to adventure in tamriel where i can explore morrowind, black marsh, cyrodiil, high rock, valenwood, elsweyr, summerset isles, hammerfell, and of course skyrim
The Green Pact and the cannibalism that comes with it is easily my favorite part of mer lore. It's just so refreshing, not to have it dictated as a chaotic/evil trope.
K this is hilarious. I NEVER knew Bosmer were cannibals. But my first character on Skyrim, a Wood Elf named Tyrelmil, consumes bodies because he did the Namira questline... I NEVER knew this was actually a thing in Valenwood... Wooooooww!
It might be because they ran out of lore to do that fits the videos they make and that ESO kinda made a lot of shoddy cast lore obsolete like changing the ancient men who came from atmora from Nords to nedes and the lusty argonians maid existing in the second era when it was made it the third era
I can't imagine eating my dead enemy. Even though he/she/they attacked me, I always leave them with their armor on, my way to respect them because they died in battle. I can respect that. Once, I found a merchant in Windhelm. He looked creepy and imitating, so I hired him for 500 gold. But fighting with a Ice Wraith, he screamed: "You win! I yield, I yield" He was a Nord. Nords never give up. So I killed him after that. Pussy...
Something does not seem quite clear to me with the Bosmer being the greatest archers in all of Tamriel. Being accurate with a bow is only half of it; you also need to be very strong. Being an archer is very demanding in physical terms; the most powerful bows are very difficult to draw and require an immense strength. Hence, a race like the Bosmer simply could not provide individuals strong enough to be able to use the most powerful of bows (at least if we compare them with some of the other races of the continent). That seems more a job for more naturally strong races, like Orcs or Nords, although they may not be as accurate with a bow as the Wood Elves, given that the Bosmer are pretty much born with a bow in their hands.
it might also have to do with how bosmer have constructed their bows and possibly their archery technique that might compensate for their lack of strength i dont know thats just a guess
I don't know, i would say they are well built and wiry. Seeing as they live in the forest and are hunters, they are probably very athletic, and things like drawing a bow would have more to do with muscle memory and practice than physical strength. Like a pitcher in baseball can throw much faster than an NFL linesman, but it doesn't mean he is stronger.
They could just be functionally strong, as in, their technique and specific muscle development is able to compensate for not being the Arnold Schwarzenegger of races. That said, there's a lot of fine tuning that goes into a bow. I hunt with a recurve (yes irl), it's only 40# (40 pound draw weight at 28"), but if u train a lot and get accurate u know where to hit, have arrows made for ur bow and what ur doing with it, can shoot from cramped angles (from behind a log while kneeling or "sneaking" if ur in skyrim), u can more than manage. If the Bosmer are so used to bows, they'd know (i'd assume) how to fletch their arrows and make broadheads to fit with their bow/ tuned perfectly. Not all bows are like the monster 150# english warbows u see in middle ages movies, anyway skyrim mostly uses recurves over longbows anyway, recurves generally being stronger for their length. I'm by no means an expert, but hopefully that helps man.
Why are people so surprised that the Wood Elves are cannibals? Do most people not realise that the companions and any other werewolf are cannibals as well?
A Pretty Sick Lad technically that's incorrect since Werewolf means they are a completely different race at this point. all together something different. since if this is the case then Vampires would be considered a type of Cannibal as well. Just like Vampire's, Werewolves are all together classed as non-basic race
Thank you that kind of helps me decide which faction to go to in skyrim. & though some nords are ignorant a**holes at times but the fact that Talos had mercy for Valenwood gives me a good backstory for my character
probably the most underused race in elder scrolls v along with imperials (seriously, how many wood elf and imperial players you know?), but my favorite to play as a ranger/archer
I find the green pact a bit awkward, I understand if they're not allowed to cut down trees or cause any type of destruction towards nature. That's similar to the beliefs and values of many Indigenous people in the Americas, when it comes to respect nature and use it wisely. But not being allowed to eat or cultivate plants and fruits is kind of exaggerating...
+Nav Lartin I'm thinking that despite what Y'ffre wanted with the Green Pact, there were some exceptions. I'm thinking that it was more for larger things like tree's and bushes. Smaller things such as grass or leaves would be allowed, though they likely would try to avoid it.
+Lou Not exactly. The plants of Valenwood are sentient. For the Bosmer to pull limbs off the trees or eat their fruit would be akin to someone walking up and just snipping a lock of your hair off to eat or breaking off your arm. In this same respect we can take it that the plants of the wood don't appreciate animals. Wild elks and the like that stomp through their region eating the grasses that no doubt the trees see as friends. Or birds carving hollows in their bodies to make homes. So the trees call to the Bosmer, eat the animals. Prey on those who would prey on us. It's something you see a lot of in nature. The herbivorous animalss are like parasites to the sentient plant life of the wood. The Bosmer hunt and kill these parasites and in exchange the trees allow the elves to live in their branches. It's also clear that this greenpact was made by the Bosmer to a forest god, and gods are kind of well known for odd deals.
Lightscribe225 if you listened, the Bosmer made a pact that as long as they called the forests home, they couldn't harvest any of it's wood for fires, or eat any of it's fruit.
Valenwood sounds interesting but the bosmer are batshit crazy. I'll pick a imperial, and join the Daggerfall covenant. No Mer... what do you want more?
One thing I like about the convenant is, that these 3 races realy fit together. Although they had their fights in the past ( every race on Tamriel has had that ) they make a strong alliance. The Ebonheartpact isn't more as one can expect. Just a loose pact of 3 races, that will crumble as soon they encounter difficulties. Props to the Nords, but the Dark Elves and their former Slaves will ruin it. And the Aldmeri Dominion? We all know the might-hungry Altmer. Do you think they helped the Khajit just to be good people? And I can already hear, how they mock their little cousins, who aren't as superior as they are. Orcs have honour. Bretons are smart and know what they are capable of. And redguards are one of the most underestimated races of Tamriel. Even if the Covenant is low in numbers of soldiers and provinces - I think they will take the prize ; )
ShoddyCast "If confrontation is inevitable, a wood elf will forgo a long starvation period before the day of battle" I don't think you understand what the word "forgo" means, because what you said implies a standard starvation period, from which the wood elves abstain. This means they're not fighting hungry.
Oblivion has the best music, I get such an amazing nostalgic feeling of happiness and I swear I can smell the air of the summer I played it for hours. As sad as it sounds it will stay with me for the rest of my life.
so all i need to do is not bathe for a month and i can fight any Bosmer i want, they Wouldnt dare kill me unless they wantt to eat stinky meat mwehehehehe
+Boink Ogre Rivers everywhere. It was specifically mentioned how they had some time to do it, they would just drag you to the nearest pond and wash the pieces as they want to eat you :D
Bosmer are the best Elven race. They learned to respect nature and their fellow man (mer if you prefer). They don't need pure brute strength (Orcs), magic (High Elves), Machines (Dwemer) and whatever the Dunmer and Falmer are attributed in.
each race has their obvious pros and cons but overall i do prefer the wood elf because it fits my character type, sneaky and quick. but to someone who takes a different path, maybe as a tank, could be just as successful in their play through because thats what they prefer. but all that choice bullshit aside, bosmer are the tits
LIVEbaboonballoons I agree. My play style in most games tends to go down the path of sneaky, fast, invisible. I guess I'm just not one for mindlessly steamrolling my way through a game (not that there's anything wrong about that, it's just not my style). So I usually play a wood elf in the Elder scrolls. But I have to say, the lore for these races makes them so much more interesting. I have Oblivion and now I'm thinking maybe I should do a playthrough as each race.
It doesn't make sense. Why do the Bosmer not eat vegetation from the land, but they eat the animals in the land who in turn eat the vegetation from the land. I think the whole idea is silly. Why not just cut out the middle man?
Because Bethesda did not think it through. Besides, a meat-only diet is not going to support an entire race. Beasts would be hunted down to extinction. History teaches us that humans need agriculture to settle.
Richardsen Well, Most of our history didn't know agriculture. All of the Old Stone age was without farming. Yes, a meat only diet is hard, but also there is a lot of people with no meat diets, right? And also they would adapt to it.
Ella C True; agriculture eluded us for a long time. But prior to that, we complemented hunting with gathering, and we had to be constantly on the move because the resources of one area would quickly deplet. The Bosmer do not have such luxuries. The only thing I can think of is that Bosmer populations is actually quite small (at least inside Valenwood) and in turn they do not need to hunt a large number of animals, keeping some kind of balance. That, or the animal species in Valenwood reproduce faster than rabbits :)
***** Exactly. It is called the Green Pact, IIRC. The Bosmer do not harm the trees and, in return, the forest deitry protects them. I think that these kind of inconsistencies (such as the alchemy issue you mention) are innevitable, as long as you have such big games like the Elders Scrolls series, with so many books and story floating around. It would take a very centralized and organized control and audit effort to monitor all the lore to avoid such inconsistencies.
Imagine Legolas at the battle of Helmsdeep. "Legolas shoot him!" "Nah, I'm full"
Legolas sacrificing his appetite, killing each Uruk-hai and being forced to eat the corpse afterwards. Later, he gets a massive stomach-ache and passes out from over-eating, along with the other Elves who ate each Orc they slay. ...I wonder how orcs taste like.
David Conn
and they don't taste very nice, does they precious?
The taste like Malakath. And we all know what he is made of.
Namira forged that pact
They don't have to do this outside valenwood.. and I think border areas don't count.
The Elder Scrolls: Valenwood Needs to be a game at some point. It would be really graphically taxing with all the leaves to animate, but it would be fucking beautiful.
What about Valenwood and Elswyr? Elder Scrolls: Dominion
The Box More content = happy me, I don't even care if the **spits** High Elves are in charge.
It is the most probable area for the next game currently. Bethesda have something called "Project Greenhardt" (probably spelled that wrong) Greenhardt is a city in Vallenwood.

The wood elf in the beginning looked like she was bout to drop the hottest mix tape of the 4th era.
i know I’m 4 years late, but this comment deserves way more recognition

Bosmer With Attitude, Straight Outta Elden Root!
No one:
Not a soul:
DJ Kagrenac: *AY YO DUMACH! Hold muh beer!*
Charlie Way At least someone understands the way it works!!!
You break lore as wood elf that's dragonborn
Chris Planck it is never implied that a dragonborn is a nord
while there have been plenty of Nords who have been Dragonborn, not all Dragonborn are Nords, i think it was mentioned in the lore that there was an Altmer who was a Dragonborn (or at least strongly implied to be one.)
Yeah he was the antagonist in Oblivion. Who ruled the Mythic Dawn cult. He was half altmer and half bosmer though. But he said he had learned to speak in a new language. And that was probably the Dragon tongue.
To clear up all confusion. If they arent in Valenwood then Bosmer can do whatever the fuck they want cuz the pact aint got shizzle on them.
"The rest of tamriel must learn of our peaceful ways... By force!"
War for peace!
darrar90 LOL
LegitimatelyCameron Islam?
USA, anyone? FREEDOM
Victor Resnov Islam =/= ISIS
Now i feel awkward that my wood elf has been vegan since oblivion.
+Leon C. Clearly your Elf is not a follower of the greenpact. Guess that explains why they're not Valenwood lol
+Leon C. Bosmer do seem more prone to madness than the other races.
mutegrab666 I hope that wasn't passive aggressive. But yeah I thought the madness thing was like a hug skooma problem within their home land since alot of them have addiction.
theres a way around the cannibal part. backstory! lol. my elf refussed to eat her dead father and was exiled. now she lives in skyrim :P
+Tryce Fire Horse wait, but that means that your elf killed her father! lol
i love how bosmer just want to be friends with everybody
Well it's either be friends with everyone or eat them.
I think wood elves are probably my favorite race in Elder Scrolls. They make perfect assassins.
I'm playing a wood elf assassin right now :D
Kalista Willington Me too x3 Mine is kind of a weird, assassin-warrior hybrid though.
Shift my guys part of the green pact
actually the best assassins are the khajiit and argonians.
Ewan True
WAIT! BOSMER EAT PEOPLE?!? I will never look at that bosmer meat merchant in whiterun the same way again!
maby that's the reson u have to kill him. Because he EATS PEOPLE!!
lol
This is NO laughing matter!! We're talking about a cannabolistic psychopath who eats people!! Then sells what's left of them to other people as MEAT!!
Ezra Rhoads that's actually pretty funny.
How to troll in Skyrim:
Marry Camilla (riverwood trader lady)
Build home (hearthfire dlc)
Make Sven (love triangle guy #1) the steward
Get the elf as your follower :)
Because if you don't help Faendal to gain him as you're first follower, you don't know what you're doing. Lol.
In their tongue, he is Lolakiin... TROLLINGBORN!! **U MAD BRO**
Chased God I'm sure you can use the console to make him a follower
That's a terrible idea. >:[ While I'm out in Solstheim or killing Alduin and shit, they'd probably be at home having a three way.
Some trash My girlfriend needed a sacrifice for that same quest, so I made her get Sven, too. Poor dude.
Playing as a Bosmer in Valenwood could have some interesting and unique perks. Such as lesser animals, mud crab, wolves, etc don't attack you but do attack enemies, unless they too are Bosmer. Some great ideas here...
It would probably done that you are a Bosmer returning to your homeland.
And if you ate plants it would have bad perks
MickMaan You should join the Beyond Skyrim Team. Seriously.
Ah fuck, my bosmer in Skyrim is a vegetarian and a lumberjack. I'm such a disgrace...
The irony xD
All my work in the lumbermills and farms of Falkreath... Im a disgrace...
What about the whole cannibal "never waste meat thing" Ive been farming
MandarinB that's still only in Valenwood
I'm a disgrace too... I always eat Apples and I'm a bomer too... I thought they hated to kill animals
Still my favorite race. Nothing will ever change that.
+Legate Sevan Telendas Bosmer are second to me well Dumner being my top favorite.
+Legate Sevan Telendas u like those pussy cats
+Legate Sevan Telendas i like to use them as monks
Me to
+Legate Sevan Telendas no problem man just glad I help out
I would love to play Elder scrolls 6 Valenwood
Same!! It would look gorgeous!!
+Manu ben canar It could include Elsweyr as well :)
+Manu ben canar Elder scrolls 6 Hammerfell
Steven Sanabria Wasn't there a Hammerfell game already?
Manu ben canar ya Elder scrolls 2 Daggerfall, but that was 20 years ago
aaaaand I just broke down laughing at the bit with the Bosmer buying woodcrafts. the image of a bosmer warrior with a cartwheel shield and a bucket helm is hilarious.
Now I understand why my Bosmer wanted to cross the border so badly.
Valenwood seems awesome though, but the green pact is brutal.
Nojus Mažvydas the green pact or the meat mandate? i mean the former nessecitates the latter but i think the latter os what would drive me to leave
Bhusta Cap The one that forces you to eat corpses.
It's funny because in reality a meat only diet would ultimately be worse for the environment than an omnivorous one. Inevitable over hunting would cause the forest to become dangerously unbalanced. Bhusta Cap But seeing as wildlife is part of a pristine untouched forest...
Oh hey these elves seem like nice---oh shit they eat people! RUN!
Sicarius Seven You just need to stay on there good side.
The green pact is for the forests of Valenwood only, it doesn't apply to any other province.
***** "Though."
+Sicarius Seven BITCH I EAT PEOPLE.
+General Ushijima I'm only mad that you beat me to it by damn near a month. Well played, sir.
lmfao
I want to see an army of wood elfs with buckets on their heads with cart wheels as shields and brooms as swords.
***** Faendal voice
I want the next Elder Scrolls game to take place in Valenwood!
there should be a climbing mechanic too.
ermineking88 like in daggerfall i assume?
I think the TES 6 should be in black march, elsewhere, vale word
Dan B Yeah if Bethesda pulls their cock out of this whole MMO thing maybe we could get a TES6...
VeloxV22 amen
Becoming a master archer Wood Elf in Skyrim must require a lot of eating.
I am one.
MegaDminecraft omnomnom
what about undead?........eeeewwww
It’s all protein right
If they make it, I hope Elder Scrolls 6 is in Valenwood and Elsweyr with the final stage of the main quest (a war against the High Elves) giving the player access to the Summerset Isles and then we could even have a Black Marsh DLC.
That would be cool but, they would have to put a lot of content for the Black Marsh DLC and potentionally the summerset isle could be a whole DLC in it self
Maybe the empire have burned the treaty and there is a war on Aldmeri dominion would be great, I want elder scrolls 6 to take place on black marsh
frenZ Esports Actually Valenwood would be great or High rock
I think Valenwood should be its own game and that Elsweyr and Black Marsh could be its own game that would be pretty cool
Valenwood, like Elsweyr and Black Marsh, is too small. Valenwood and Elsweyr provide a fantastic contract between magical forests and mystical deserts!!!
I love how they didn't mention a lot of other important stuff like the Wild Hunt.

You need to be patient.
didnt know they were doing it in episodes, sorry :P
It's not cannibalism if it's human. :D
I find it wrong to eat any creature that as an adult will reach sentience.
The joke------->
Your head -- >O
Fair enough, I don't understand why I got two up thumbs.
The internet contains many mysteries.
Technically it is, because a.) man and mer are sentient and b.) men and mer descended from the same people, originally.
you never see a fat wood elf
CrazyNerdMonkey Would be harder to get fat considering they consume a truckload of protein, which can take up to 20% of the ingested calories to metabolize the remaining 80%,not to forget that they do constant cardio..
Haha My wife made a fat Bosmer NB. Looked hilarious when she used Ambush.
Cannibals? Wow I've broken the Green Pact so many times...
James Watson it’s not required when not in Vallenwood
I've never been any character other than a Wood Elf ! And i thank you for all your hard work and the mentality to do all this in the first place ! Thanks again
'beautiful, wild, untamed and unkept' are they describing valenwood or my ex girlfriend😂
Heh your the dude from Bastartupgaming, small world
Bastartgaming
Jackson Nielsen hahahaha yeah i am it is a small world
Jackson Nielsen *you're
Top Kek passer-by losing his shit*
The Wood Elves is my #1 favorite race! I love their lore, their design, everything. Valenwood is like a beautiful forest and stuff too, and I love nature! I also love the stat or skill bonuses you get from the race. My friends usually tell me, "Dude you can't love nature, you kill it, you're vegan." I disagree.....not that anyone on planet earth cares about this whole comment tho so =.= just felt like sharing.
I love this series, i've been downloading every entry onto my Ipod and i love listening to them in class or while riding my bike. Keep up the amazing work ShoddyCast!
I know someone who's vegan who plays almost exclusively as a Wood Elf because "they live in the forest, they're the most likely to not eat meat"
I wonder if I should send them this video?
That would be brilliant
QAZWSXEDCRFV4579 (Kitty Klub - Chairman-Meow) do it lmao
Shixma It must suck to be the Minister of Finances there...
+Tishen Ahmun My wood elves loves to pick plants and flowers too, their favourites are the ones from cannabis skyrim mod
+Felipe Arellano No way, mines too!
Wood Elves are my favorite race throughout the Elder Scrolls series, thank you so much
Well I didn't see any bucket wearing elves in Skyrim that I didn't cause.
why not make a mod for it
I couldn't do it but it would add to made up realism and would also add a weird element to Skyrim but we have talking dogs and Dragons so why not...
It is a good tactic to place buckets or pots over the head of someone you are trying to steal from.
Yeh I said that or meant that when I said ' that I didn't cause.'
I really wish the next Elder Scrolls game takes place in the southern countries, or another continent. :3
I'm hoping the next one will take place in Valenwood, Black Marsh, or Elsweyr. :D
O Opie I wanna see The Elder Scrolls 6:Akavir :3
O Opie dude i think its gonna be in black marsh because its supposed to focus on the argonians
Thomas Frassel All say tes 3 gonna be in black marsh and oblivion and skyrim but no they aren't plus in tes daggerfall you have black marsh.
It will be in valley wood and summer set iles
How time flies, I remember when I fell in love with Skyrim. I accidently stumbled upon your videos when looking for walk throughs, at the time you had barely started your lore series and I remember being so intrigued by this fictional world and all these stories I remember waiting so long for the Bosmer video and the excitement that came when you finally released it... I love your Content and all these vids just bring back so much Nostalgia thank you for all the good memories!
I just started a new character as a Bosmer and set her up to be a hunter and I didn't know about the lore so this was fun. To make it complete I just need to ring of Namira.
I love these lores so much
This is one of my favorite videos by you guys.
My first character is always a Wood Elf, so I really hope Elder Scrolls VI is gonna be in Valenwood!
me too... are at least they make it in Black Marsh a.k.a Argonia...
I am always torn between Bosmer and Bretons. Both such amazing lores.
"Bos"= Wood in Dutch
I'm sure that probably had something to do with it.
it is also close for bosque (forest in spanish and similar in other latin derived languages)
Mer is Elf in TES Lore so Wood Elf
kunven
Yes you should know that many words in different languages meaning approximately the same thing are very similar, but Teneco is right, the writes got Bosmer from the dutch "Bos"
no idea what kind of "Dutch"u had on school but bos isnt Wood in Dutch, it's forest, like Kunven pointed out Bosque in spanish and Bosco in Italian,
i wish the next elder scrolls game setting would be all tamriel (excluding the elder scrolls online), with detailed and more diversity like elder scrolls: skyrim
Soo you would like a combination of Arena and Skyrim?
yeah i think, i never played arena before, but it would be great to adventure in tamriel where i can explore morrowind, black marsh, cyrodiil, high rock, valenwood, elsweyr, summerset isles, hammerfell, and of course skyrim
I think it would be cool if it was in valenwood and elswyr
Please tell me the engine or time you would need for this to happen because it would be very difficult to pull that off...
It possible, with next gen but the graphics would be the same as skyrim
The Green Pact and the cannibalism that comes with it is easily my favorite part of mer lore. It's just so refreshing, not to have it dictated as a chaotic/evil trope.
BOSMER MASTER RACE!!!!!!!
Death to the stormcloaks!
High elven superiority is true!
justin gardner death to aldmeri! Death to the Stormcloaks! The empire shall rise again!
***** all... One of you. Who died in the Razor quest...
Go you guys.
Again. All... One of you...
Against... A fucking *legion*.
😊 Have a nice day pumpkin. *stab*
I may have broken the pact because of a couple of hundred enemies
I love wood elves. I basically searched through your whole playlist just to find lore chapters on it. But i love the rest of yer chapters too :o!
K this is hilarious. I NEVER knew Bosmer were cannibals. But my first character on Skyrim, a Wood Elf named Tyrelmil, consumes bodies because he did the Namira questline... I NEVER knew this was actually a thing in Valenwood... Wooooooww!
The Dark Brotherhood in Valenwood: A Dead Gianttree
Uncovering the history of the races of TESV, is such an ambitious undertaking that all I can say is WOW, and thank you. I truly enjoy your series.
why dont they do this anymore, i dont need a story teller with some overarching plot i just want more elder scrolls lore
It might be because they ran out of lore to do that fits the videos they make and that ESO kinda made a lot of shoddy cast lore obsolete like changing the ancient men who came from atmora from Nords to nedes and the lusty argonians maid existing in the second era when it was made it the third era
They need to set the next elder scrolls here!
It would suck
Depends on what your definition of suck is.
With Mosquitos?
+ThisYoungLibertine Actually depending on the era it would be very interesting to explore.
That's what I was thinking bruv
Your passion for the franchise is admirable. Nice video, well done.
Plants produce fruit for the purpose of spreading their seed so why can't bosmer eat fruits if its beneficial to nature?
I can't imagine eating my dead enemy. Even though he/she/they attacked me, I always leave them with their armor on, my way to respect them because they died in battle. I can respect that.
Once, I found a merchant in Windhelm. He looked creepy and imitating, so I hired him for 500 gold. But fighting with a Ice Wraith, he screamed: "You win! I yield, I yield"
He was a Nord. Nords never give up. So I killed him after that. Pussy...
I suddenly have a newfound appreciation for the wood elves thanks to you guys!
Wood Elves are my favorite type of elves
Summerset Isles + Valenwood + Elsweyr = TES VI
Ideal
seriously loving that shoddycast is doing these lore videos
*****
I guess; although your range would be fairly short in comparison :)
it might also have to do with how bosmer have constructed their bows and possibly their archery technique that might compensate for their lack of strength i dont know thats just a guess
Oh come on. Bows aren't that difficult to draw. Bosmer are probably tough as nails anyway.
+A Pretty Sick Lad lol their a werewolf STUPID!
and the bosmer are the best! i love the stormcloak! Fuck the empire!
+A Pretty Sick Lad lol their a werewolf STUPID!
and the bosmer are the best! i love the stormcloak! Fuck the empire!
+MGR WARZ Go back to Minecraft please.
Absolutely amazing! 16 minutes felt like 5 minutes. Liked and subbed!
M'aiq thinks bosmer are tree huggers.
I hope that TES VI takes place in Valenwood and Elsweyr. Black Marsh would be awesome too. :D
Love the high and wood elf lore, so much interesting facts and details.
3:38 complete badass.
Just because they are religiously cannibalistic does not mean they eat them raw where they killed them.
Thank you that kind of helps me decide which faction to go to in skyrim. & though some nords are ignorant a**holes at times but the fact that Talos had mercy for Valenwood gives me a good backstory for my character
See, in my first game, I was a bosmer, and i was a... warior to say the least.
probably the most underused race in elder scrolls v along with imperials (seriously, how many wood elf and imperial players you know?), but my favorite to play as a ranger/archer
I'm a wood elf that's y I'm watching this vid and I'm a archer 2 so I chose wood elves
+Purple Pyro me too! and wood elves can be really sneaky
Uhwut. Bosmer are one of the most popular races.
I play as a Wood Elf. Daggers, Bows, and Alteration.
Super Master Of The Obvious 4 im a bosmer
This is amazing, I just love learning the lore from you guys. Great work! The music with all the green at the beginning is so beautiful
I hope The Elder Scrolls VI is in Valenwood
I find the green pact a bit awkward, I understand if they're not allowed to cut down trees or cause any type of destruction towards nature. That's similar to the beliefs and values of many Indigenous people in the Americas, when it comes to respect nature and use it wisely. But not being allowed to eat or cultivate plants and fruits is kind of exaggerating...
Seriously! And like, wouldn't they get I trouble for just walking on the grass? How do you avoid that?
+Nav Lartin I'm thinking that despite what Y'ffre wanted with the Green Pact, there were some exceptions. I'm thinking that it was more for larger things like tree's and bushes. Smaller things such as grass or leaves would be allowed, though they likely would try to avoid it.
+Lou it's the opposite of veganism, we'd naturally find it weird lol
Igor Martins lol true, now I wonder how would Peta react if they went to valenwood and see their diet...
This is the best series ever released Just want to say that
My favorite race is khajiit then wood elf
How do they cook their meat...
Slather it with spices, jab a big stick through it and roast it on a spit. That's how they eat Khajiit anyway...
Lightscribe225 if you listened, the Bosmer made a pact that as long as they called the forests home, they couldn't harvest any of it's wood for fires, or eat any of it's fruit.
WhaleofDreams
You can make a fire without wood you know...
WhaleofDreams If you had listened you would have heard that the bosmer imported wood from the other provinces
Well, I see I am no longer needed in this conversation- WhaleofDreams, away!! EXCELSIOR!!!!!!!
This is awesome, I've never taken so much interest on the Elder Scrolls' Lore, until now.
Fantastic series, keep it up! :)
Why was that Bosmer wearing Ancient Nordic armor?
Valenwood sounds interesting but the bosmer are batshit crazy. I'll pick a imperial, and join the Daggerfall covenant. No Mer... what do you want more?
man, the thing about humans is that... they're humans. any human force can be easily be defeated for the elves
luiz Nogueira The Redguards would like to have a word with you.
+TheZeroSbr the elves have the orcs help, remember that :P
But you forget that the Redguards once bested the Orcs :P
Even if the Covenant is low in numbers of soldiers and provinces - I think they will take the prize ; )
i really look forward to your weekly episodes. The lore of Elder Scrolls is what i've always enjoyed about the series. Keep it up!
I hope the next game in valenwood
ShoddyCast
"If confrontation is inevitable, a wood elf will forgo a long starvation period before the day of battle"
I don't think you understand what the word "forgo" means, because what you said implies a standard starvation period, from which the wood elves abstain. This means they're not fighting hungry.
Oblivion has the best music, I get such an amazing nostalgic feeling of happiness and I swear I can smell the air of the summer I played it for hours. As sad as it sounds it will stay with me for the rest of my life.
I'm playing a semi-pacifistic cannibal. sweet
i just imagine what a high elf and wood elf couple would look like, the high elf would have to kneel down to kiss them aww that'd be so cute :)
I love that Bosmer armour pack you used in the video. It makes my Bosmer character look boss
Hopefully Elderscrolls 6 takes place in Valenwood.......
I know it's doubtful... But I'd love to play in all of The continent.
maybe someday
In arena you could I'm pretty sure.
Silver Moon Studios. But with updated graphics.
George Pearson I would love daggerfall with much better graphics.
so all i need to do is not bathe for a month and i can fight any Bosmer i want, they Wouldnt dare kill me unless they wantt to eat stinky meat mwehehehehe
+Boink Ogre Rivers everywhere. It was specifically mentioned how they had some time to do it, they would just drag you to the nearest pond and wash the pieces as they want to eat you :D
Terenin >_
I LOVE your videos. LOVE them. So don't misunderstand when I say that I cry a little bit inside every time you get to the "ESO" part of the lore.
I can't be the 1st to point this out but....fandel (Riverwood) is chopping wood sometimes :0
thats because the green pact only applies to valenwood. Wood elves living in other places, like skyrim, can do as they please
LIVEbaboonballoons
I agree.
It really says something about how much I dislike Elves if the cannibals are my favorite among them.
The Dunmer are resilient to harsh, hot conditions and call on their ancestral spirits for protection.
wood elves and archery are a great mix. only downfall for then is that they're short :P
You guys should really do more of these again. With the release of ESO, more lore has been explained/added and Skyrim is still very popular.
It doesn't make sense. Why do the Bosmer not eat vegetation from the land, but they eat the animals in the land who in turn eat the vegetation from the land. I think the whole idea is silly. Why not just cut out the middle man?
Because of the Green Pact.
Ella C
True; agriculture eluded us for a long time.
*****
Exactly.
Back when shoddycast was good...
After watching this, ES6 in Valenwood sounds so much cooler. Having a storyline where you revive the province would be awesome.
you're saying it wrong it's valenwood not valenwood
its not valenwood its valenwood dumbass
jk
ThePetrifiedBard i thought it was pronounced valenwood.
Thekingpin No, it's pronounced valenwood, dipshit
TheManSticker So is it valenwood or valenwood? Which one is it?
TheCoolmanawsome Valenwood.
Die-Nes-Tee
Dynesty
No offense
fairly certain elves are descend from Aldmer, including the Altmer, not all descending from Altmer
There is a diffrence between harmony with the nature and canibalism. Just saying...
UnchartedxRelic Fucked up gods is the answer :]
