Except for those rare cases where someone has found how to manipulate the market in a way the developers never intended. Most of the time that manipulation is done through glitches.

The first glitch acctually made Dragon fullhelms drop quite a bit if I remember correctly. (It was on the PVP droptable, but got removed when to many entered the game). Sparc Mac got banned on his main for this bug(Sparc Mac1).

Wasn't a glitch, it was programmed to be that way.

It's funny that even the disgustingly profitable glitches in Runescape still require grinding, lol.
I remember stacking in Falador around the time the pink hats were duped. Another thing that wasn't really a glitch, but it sorta tricked the system was when bounty hunter first came out and everyone would sit at the edge of wilderness waiting to get their drop rate up until they would actually kill a target lol. I think the Falador Massacre helped take a few glitched items out of the game lol.
might explain why in 2006 i got my first big break. I found a glory sitting on the floor in east falador bank.. picked it up and sold it for 80k. bought myself a dragon longsword.
It was Dylock who did the party hat dupe glitch back in 03 using a tool called AutoRune, and he did reveal it to Jagex, and was BANNED. It was a really big deal back then to those of us in the know :)

Best all time was when Jagex decided to raise climbing boots prices 75,000% LOL!!!!
What a lot of people didn't know is that if you died with 4 crystal bows the game thought you were losing 1m a piece instead of 180k a piece. The potential of getting dragon full helms and dragon fire shields was just as good as the pack yak glitch.
I remember that glory dupe glitch, I had sold most of my bank for construction when it came out, so I had a mounted glory early on and my clan friends who had decided construction was a waste of money were begging me to come do this glitch in my house. I wouldn't let anybody do it because I didn't want to risk getting banned for letting people do it in my house, then most of the people who asked me ended up getting banned a few weeks later. I can say that glories before construction were 100k, and after that glitch were 50k and never really went any higher ever again. It was kinda annoying that my 28 glory amulets halved in price, though I never had any intention of selling them I owned 28 simply because it was a full inventory, minimizing the amount of times I had to visit the heroes guild fountain to recharge.
I made so much money from that first one. Sadly, half my clan got banned for this
There was a glitch right when eoc came out where you could cast spells while holding a death touched dart. It only worked on qbd which is why all the drops are so cheap from her now. I'm pretty sure it was the reason for the dfs dropping to like 200k back then. You basically had unlimited uses of the insta kill effect.
I remember when i started rs and some guy run over to me on lummy bridge traded me put 100 noted purple partyhats on then run off always been something i remembered from classic (this was right after the patch)
In addition to the f2p ep glitch there was the Crystal bow ep glitch that allowed you to die with player charged 180k bows and trick the game into thinking you lost 900k items. Do that 5 times for insane returns, was the reason crystal seeds were 200k+ at the time.

First glitch doesn't spawn any new items in the game. It won't have much inflationary effect on gp, in fact as more items are being supplied with same demand, it'll have a deflationary effect as the monetary value of goods are lower

im sure back in the day these two were rumoured, you could telegrab the phat out the wise old man cutscene, when the item loan system came out you could pk people for that item and steal it somehow (main target was phats ofc) not sure if these two are true but i definitely remember it being spoke of

the pk potential glitch was also available if you just afk with 76k for a while till your potential hits 100% , you could easily earn millions upon millions if you killed someone with 100 potential & that ws there for months

I'm surprised haxunit's money dupe wasn't on here, they brought trillions of gp into the game in a matter of days.
the duplicate glitch was not actually a dupplication, it was a item creation glitch. you could send a trade item command to the server and the server did not check if you had the item in your inventory before putting it up in the trade screen back then. he basically sent the command to trade his scythe but misstyped the itemid, and thus discovered he could create any item.
The dungeoneering smuggle was the best for me lolol you could make soo many runes in the dungeon and tele out with the runes if you had high stats you could craft the 99 gear and smuggle that out
i used to ep boost in pvp worlds you would splash on another player for 30 minutes then go kill someone that had 26k then you could get fury dfs whip dfh aton of big items and it crashed dfs from 25m to 10m for abit but good video

a glitch found a month ago has major influence on the game today. if you count 20b being a major price difference from 22b then I guess you're right
What about the freminnik saga smuggle? It made runes drop down to literally 1 gp. Theres vids about it too
What about the ring of wealth glitch in 2011? Lootshare mode made it a 100% droprate for rare drops. I made a little under 3b merching that day starting with 220m :)

All I'll say on the player who told Jagex about the party hat glitch, is that the player is still playing to this day.

There was a rune smuggle from the fremennik sagas that made chaos runes crash to 1 gp

Partyhat dupe was discovered by kaitnieks, he also made the 3rd party program, and also was able to create female characters with beard trough it.
For many knew how to do these most players I knew wouldn't try them.We just played honestly. and laughed.
Inflation of GP can't be caused by the dropping of items, no new gold is being added to the game when you get a item drop, you are simply selling it to another player whom obtained the gold "legitimately". It does, however, cause the value of that item to go down as more enter the game.
Yeah that part made my ears perk up a little bit too, I was like "wait... when did dropping gp come into play here?" I'm glad someone else picked up on that little technicality. It's ok though, I think it was an honest mistake and he'll look out for little slips of information like that in the future. He cares about the facts he's presenting so I have faith that he'll check a little more thoroughly the next time he's using certain terms.

I just had a better feeling with the player to player contact, and that it was more difficult to obtain a certain item. I could play as an ironman but that would not be what i want. Yes annoying sometimes to sell stuff, but maybe u priced it to high lolz.

Yellow is actually the cheapest. Purple would be the cheapest but purple is a better colour. Also the difference between the cheapest and most expensive is over 20 billion gp!

a lot but not a lot since lots of people have been banned with them and rwt have been banned with them as well, if u look on reddit awile back a mod said how many where traded in a week or month and it was like 4k, so really not that many

Jagex made there worst mistake ever by perm banning the guy who told them how to do the phat dupe when they offered lifetime membership...the next time a glitch comes along and jagex cant figure it out and offer membership 10m 100bill everyone knows they will just ban them so it will break the game....not a smart move at all by jagex.

RS players are idiots when it comes to discretion. In real life try to keep things quiet. I know of a Casino Advantage Player who found a glitch, and kept it quiet for 9 months, only he knew of it. He made $300k in that time. Then a friend discovered him hiding and playing and started over playing the glitch and it was gone in 1 month.

scythe came out oct 2003 and rs3 beta came out in dec 2003 so that means at best the phat dupe happened 3 months before you could play rs2... wtf?!
