Smith going full nazi at the end- semi-dumb ( while i could see it happening, not to the extent of literal extermination camps. And i could also see him go less nazi as well.)
Juliana’s arc conclusion - did not feel fulfilling at all, mainly due to not being sure what her arc was in the first place.
Don’t even start me on the multi-verse nonsense, just straight up garbage on fire set on top of a cool idea about WW2 going south for the allies.
Wasted hopes and dreams for a very interesting and cool show-shattered just like julianas weird triple love Life.
Lol same though, john smith should have become furher (obviously) and juliana should have, or whoever the rest of the cast is unimportant, raised an army and toppled the regime by fucking with the medirritarian like enacting the alantis project for a view years to turn europe into a desert, and destroy trains, you saw how easy it was to break that one line, also they could be fighting with our timelines American nukes and weapons

@@nurettinburakcevikparmak6298 I didn't see that as Smith going full Nazi. Just that it was the extent of his compliance with the system he served. He's so far deep into the system and it's so complex and dangerous that he's unable to leave his position without risking his family's or his own lives. That's why he said he didn't know how to stop it.
This turning point for Kido's character was excellent. I loved watching him

I don't think it was a turning point. Based in what we have seen of his character I'm surprised this wasn't brought up in the trail, I guess it's more dramatic this way.

The smartest move for General Yamori is to bring along his own battalion loyal to him while overseeing the Admiral’s execution. Kido would have been surprised and wouldn’t attempt the arrest.
That would have been the smart move. Kido was a well known hardliner and a proponent of the JPS - the Crown Princess says that she was grateful for bringing down Yamori because she "knows where his true political views lie" (i.e. in line with Yamori). But Yamori did not understand that Kido's sense of duty was more powerful than his political ideals.
It would have been smart in retrospect, sure, but what disloyalty had Kido proved up until this point? To him, he was another cog in the war machine, a loyal obedient man who wouldn't dare to rebel against a senior officer.

I thought they should’ve done it differently. Being executed by firing squad was typically considered and honorable punishment in most militaries. Where you still be buried in uniform with honors. Whereas hanging was dishonorable. Since hanging meant buried without honors and stripped of your rank.
@@cgavin1 No the Japanese were fiercely loyal to Japan and the Emperor. To die for the Emperor was the best death they could have in their minds. That's what made them such a dangerous enemy in WW2, they were NOT afraid to die. Not in the slightest.

For a Filipino American actor (Kido) the Japanese is not bad, either his lines were dubbed or he learned quick.

Just noticed - when the junior officer moves over to arrest Yamori, as he passes in front of two riflemen, each of them brings their rifle up to avoid an accidental friendly fire and then bring it down down once he's passed... Nice attention to detail

From killing the admiral --> Arresting the general
One important thing anyone can learn from this show is that there is not always a clearly defined good guy and bad guy, and that the world is so much grayer than meets the eye. Depsite Kido being a cold blooded killer, there’s still a lot of honor in him, as seen to him bowing to Frank before executing him, and as seen here in protecting someone from being wrongly executed.
One of the best scenes in entire series.
Had to rewatch this seen about 10 or 14 times the first time I saw it. Absolutely one of my favorite scenes.

You could very easily argue he was consistently the best actor across all seasons. It's a close race between him and Sewell.
A moment of pure redemption. Finally proved that he wasn't a monster at heart. It took a great deal of courage to do what he did. It's not an excuse fni his past crimes but it does show that people can be redeemed
Kido and Helen were the characters with the best arcs.
His loyalty is to the empire as well as his friends. And he will not be threatened by corruption

They Dumb it down every other time tho like they speak english when its only Generals and even among the Princess...
They speak Japanese when among themselves and important scenes (like this one)
This was actually the real reason for Japanese loss- fight between navy and army. Even Air Force was divided between the two.

My favorite scene in season 4 and was good to see kido had turn to a good guy.
Never understood why in almost every entertainment medium, whenever they line up to shoot rifles of any kind, they make so much noise while “aiming”. If you’ve ever used a rifle, they make virtually no noise while shouldering.
This is for the audience's benefit, the audio feedback makes scenes more visceral and lets your brain know something is happening, if there was no noise the dead air would be seen as awkward to the untrained ear unless you're deliberately not using sound for specific reasons, like if a character is acting "stealthily" so their slow movements wouldnt warrant noise, but in this case you want to cue in the audience that the firing is about to commence, (also tangentially an accessibility thing since blind viewers wouldnt be able to tell the soldiers lifted their rifles. or in a more common case when swords get drawn from their sheathes the metal swing is for dramatic effect and so blind viewers can get a sense of that)

@@HDproductionnal As a german I can tell you that you are 100% right. Most of the "german" roles in this movie didn't even remotely sound german, there was even a rather huge part which I didn't understand and needed subtitles for. The spoken language in this movie was horrible.

@@thegreenreaper6660 Smith was good in the first 2 seasons as well. The problem ware the BS multiverse crap they played with. They had a good idea for a series but failed to execute it properly. What should been is a series in which the Axis won and we see the resistance fighing to get them out. However all that BS with the multiverse it didnt make sence. I think they went with it because all the nazi secret reaserch programs like the "Bell" in Poland and thout that it will make a good story - it didnt.
Smit in the last season didnt make scence as well with all the concentration camp plans. I get that he was onboard with that at the beggining (looking at his conversation with that german colonel and his flashback when he joined). At the start for him was about survival but he never looked as that hardliner that got full control over the Americas (granted by the new furer) and went full nazi.

The harm to the high ranking officers including generals, admirals, ministers, governors was considered traitorous against the deity of the emperor. Can someone explain the hierarchy ? Doesnt General Yamori outrank Chief inspector Kido?
Never watched this season, but as far as i know Kido and his men are part of the Kempeitai, the secret military police of the japanese forces. Even though Yamori technically outranks Kido, these restrictions or this hierachy does not affect Kido in his policing rights/duties. As a member of the military police rank technically has nothing to say aslong it has something to do with your duties as a police officer (enlisted man can arrest higher ranking personal or in this case officers can arrest or police higher ranking officers). Without this "rank exception" a police force inside a military simply wont work and Kido uses this rule to his own benefits. I hope i could help and sorry for the shaky explanation, english is not my first language.
Yes he does, chief inspector Kido is a Colonel. But these are Kido's men and General Yamori is corrupt and murdered a high ranking Japanese official. He also ordered the princess to be locked away in a room while the trail took place. Many of these officers seen that.
Also Admiral Inokuchi outranks everyone here but was being framed.
