Well, theres an official Batocera build for the PS7000 now.
And for the PS5000 and Powkiddy A12/13 (which works with some issues on the X2 and Coolbaby RS18).
This was more or less the question I was gonna ask, if it was updateable being Linux-based so the emulation could be improved. Thanks for letting us know there's a Batocera build available! :)
I wanted to say the same thing, could be interesting to see comparison between official firmware and all mighty Batocera

I'm actually shocked at how good this system is. I agree an IPS would make this perfect. Still worth picking up in my opinion. Another great upload wicked as always 👍😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
If it had an IPS screen Id prob get one cause there is an officiial Batocera build for it now.
I have a Coolbaby RS18 with reg LCD screen and its really a major letdown.
It's not bad but I had little speed issues with games like "Metal Slug 2" and "Contract". It becomes very slow when there are a lot of characters attending.

So what are it's limitations and chipset? Does it handle all PS1 games well? How many games are there? Does it play any PSP games? So many questions Wicked!

I have this one for about a year now, like it a lot. Works much better with batocera (not that simple to install tho, need newer bios that I was not able to find on the official site). Runs N64 fairly well.
How do you put your roms on it?

Batocera v35 does run on my PS5000 but with DiskGenius (on Windows 7) seems i can't find the the sd card. Is there any special command or setting i'm missing? Also read somewhere that it would be maybe good to convert one of the partitions to ntfs(probably where the 'files' are located). Also not sure what advancement that could bring..🤔 Also do you maybe know if some controls must be edited in the cfg file to get a better/working controller layout for N64 games or can this be set on Batocera itself without editing a .cfg ?
Tried again and got it to work with DiskGenius. Some recommend DiskGenius Professional Portable.. I wonder what the advantages are. Seems you don't lose much with the free version or are there any restrictions you now of?
I just burned the img, inserted the sd card in the ps7000 to expand and create the folders, and used diskgenius (free version, dunno if pro has any andvantage) to add roms. All other configs I did trhu batocera menus.
Stock os is crappy. However you can install batocera and it makes this handheld a million times better.
For the price (40€), this is a fantastic handheld.
I never wanted to touch this handheld since it came out but yeah, since there is an official Batocera image available for it now Ive actually just ordered myself one. 😁
I love bigger screens so with Batocera on it I think it makes this cheap 7" handheld worth a buy.
I wish I could do all that stuff.

@@javierrechio9707 Batocera is a LOT better than the stock os. You can play a lot more systems (spectrum, Amiga, cpc, c64,...). It's a big update and I recommend it.

You can fix the aspect ratio in options btw atleast my all black model PS7000 you can to full screen!

I love mine, I just put batocera on it. It xan play more systems, better performance and correct aspect ratio. The only thing is there is a big with the joystick, up is down and down is up. There is some code you can put in a specific folder but in my case it doesn't fix it, I've tried configuring in the menus to reverse it but still no joy. It's a shame because I just can't get on with the d-pad.
I have the Coolbaby RS18 which also has a reg LCD screen.
I know this has an LCD screen too but I wonder if the screen quality is better at all?
Wish it had an IPS screen like the X2.
Just curious cause now we have an official Batocera image for the PS7000 maybe its worth picking one up.

@@fonzitheman Honestly, the screen is very good even though it's not an IPS. The batocera image I have works but I've had to put a manual code into the config file to fix a bug in the controls, but even then up is down and down is up with the analogue stick which makes it unplayable for now until they fix it. There is a newer image of the batocera file, I think its batocera 35 but its a beta build. It may fix those bugs but I'm not sure. It's a good console and I like using it when I want to use a bigger screen but I sometimes wish I'd have waited a bit longer and paid a bit more and got a more powerful device where the support is stronger like the RG552 instead for example.

The RG552 is good but still a little expensive for what it is, besides, my sweet spot for handheld is 7".😊

@@fonzitheman Yes my friend, you are right the rg552 is a bit expensive. All I'm saying is that the PS7000 has a control bug when you flash batocera on it. You have to go into the config file and enter some code to fix it. This will fix most of it but the analogue stick doesn't work properly no matter what you do, up is down and down is up. The d-pad is not very good and makes the experience very poor. I would suggest the PS5000, it has a great OLED screen, you can flash batocera on it and you will have to fix the controls in the same way but this time it will work. The only thing I'd say is that in my experience the PS7000 seems to process faster and the battery is a lot, lot better!

Not really interested in the PS5000 any mainly cause I already have a 5" screen handheld, the Powkiddy RGB10 Max, running Batocera on it too. 😊

Not, they added files to there with chinees text.

@@fonzitheman Thanks for the answer! Got one of these and installed Batocera. It seems a bit slow to boot the OS and load the games. In any case, the older games (the ones I play) work great. Also, sometimes I have to turn it on and off twice for the OS to boot for some reason. The big screen makes for a great playing experience. The only downsides are that the thumbpad sometimes get stuck (not sure if it's software or hardware issue...will look inside at some point), and the battery could last longer (this can actually be switched out). Great for the price (and if you don't a small amount of fiddling after installing Batocera).

Alos, how do you find the screen? Only thing I wasnt sure about is the non IPS screen but I figured since these are pretty cheap I may as well get one, as I love larger screens. ☺️
@@fonzitheman The possibility of installing Batocera is what did it for me as well. The screen is great in spite of it being non IPS. WCG's video shows that the battery is easily accesible; will post a reply if I ever get around to doing anything to it (and remember).🙂

Looks good in black, doesnt feel as cheap as I thought, I expected worse.The Coolbaby RS18 does feel a bit cheaper quality wise.
Speakers sound fine.
The screen yeah, it is OK..
Still looks pretty sharp and clear . Keep in mind the price these are so cant complain.
I only paid usd $62 posted to AUS.
Still, if this had an IPS screen it would have made this so much better and a very good cheap 7" handheld.
Stock UI is serviceable but will be doing some Batocera testing, as thats why I bought it.
But you know, for the price I paid for one, Im happy so far.
