    Good video, thanks. I don't think the 25cc of oil in the lowers is necessary though. Suntour prides themselves on this VS Fox and Rockshox; who do use an "oil splash bath".

    Does it leak the oil? Because there are no seals at the bottom of the lowers...OEM there is only grease. I want to service my Aion, too.

    • @polishguywithhardtospellna8227
      @polishguywithhardtospellna8227 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In Poland there is a proffesional service/shop that does this step as an upgrade for customers that wish to have it done. I suppose this means it doesn't leak. I saw the same oil weight used on another video, but uploader wasn't sure either and I haven't seen anywhere else any people that used such heavy weight oil for this purpose. I need to service mine too, and my notes say 2,5W oil, but it may apply to air chamber, as I'd prefer not to add oil to the bottom for quicker and cleaner service procedure. If service isn't a hassle everyone tends to do it more often. It's much better when you don't have a garage or a workshop -no risk of spillage.
      Most other forks use 15W oil in lower legs.

    • @polishguywithhardtospellna8227
      @polishguywithhardtospellna8227 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just checked that shop which only sells and services Suntour forks and they carry Fuchs Titan Supergear 80W-90 and they describe it as air chamber oil for suntour forks. They also sell Fuchs Silkolene RSF 2,5W; 5W; 7,5W; 10W; 15W It's probably quite expensive and harder to get, but a really good one. If You're not very demanding user, any motorcycle fork oil of similar weight will be good. They can differ quite significantly between brands, cause of CST factor. WT is bullshit, CST is the real, comperable viscosity characteristic. Rarely on the label, normally available in pdf documentation from manufacturer website.

      80w like he used for the seals. You can also add a little in the lowers (5-10 cc) to make it more progressive, but don't add more than that. Suntour forks rely on the grease and don't have oil baths like Rockshox and Fox.

  • @darrencardy2119
    @darrencardy2119 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Grease and oil? Wrong oil for a start, that 80w gear oil only goes and the air chamber to lubricate the air seal and no more than 4cc.
    Don't put grease on the seals, they don't mix! its one or the other and 25cc in each leg is to much. I use 15cc 10W SUSPENSION fluid max in each leg. Release the air before touching the forks, good luck.

      sr suntour air forks don't take oil in the lowers. That's one of the distinct characteristics of suntour that separates them from rockshox or fox. They claim is easier to service the forks by just using grease in the lowers and maybe like u said 4 c of gear oil in the o rings and seals
