    For anyone reading this, pay attention to how short "stacatto" he plays the chords. That's a huge key to making this sound good. The chord voicings are great, but if you don't also copy the feel, it wont sound nearly as good. Listen to 22:10. Everything nice and short. Amazing feel.

    The finest guitar instructor playing the finest guitar. Lol. My opinion, anyway. The telecaster is a beautiful thing, to me. It shows us that a guitar just needs to be a few basic things. A plank of wood, some wound up wire, some pots and a switch. Nothing fancy, yet it can do it all. You could go as far as to say even the Tele has some unnecessary extra stuff, that being the neck pickup. The Esquire is about as simple as it can get, and it's definitely still a beautiful useful tool.
    Love the neck on your Tele. All the exotic types of maple make such beautiful guitar necks

    • @TomoFujitaMusic
      @TomoFujitaMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing! VERY simple guitar & this one is so amazing! I cannot afford $115.000USD for real vintage guitar! Thank you!

    • @nickdrey1200
      @nickdrey1200 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TomoFujitaMusic you are totally right. The price of vintage Gibson and Fenders are just nuts. The most id spend, is what my dream guitar (which I'm about 2 years away from, been saving little by little for years now) Fender custom shop Strat, shell pink, heavy relic. SSS with the push/push to play neck+bridge.
      Tomo, I have something I'd like to ask you and, I don't really expect an answer but idk...it'd be cool to hear what you think. So, I'm having trouble incorporating triads, and the like, in my solos. I know a handful of triad shapes, but I never feel like I use them properly. Ive been playing jazz for a good while, I can solo w single notes for days lol. I can make a chord melody for whatever. But, I watch some guys solo and they throw in a triad in the middle of a single note run and it rules. I can't seem to work them in. I have thought about it a lot and my next woodshed day I think I might write out a solo, and write in the triads where they do make sense, musically, and then play it the way I practice Charlie Parker licks, slow as hell til I feel it then keep going faster. But I'm wondering if there is a philosophical way to think about them? Like use triads only when on chord tones ? Or only use triads built on the 9th of the chord in rhythm?
      Anywho thanks for being the man, hope you're having a great day

    • @TomoFujitaMusic
      @TomoFujitaMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Learn triad inversions on 123 set strings. Each intervals instead of thinking shapes! I made a few triad lesson videos so you can watch that. Set a few chord progressions and see if you can follow each chords, playing each triads on 123 set strings. Try to hear them! Not that hard.

    • @nickdrey1200
      @nickdrey1200 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TomoFujitaMusic Ok ok, I dig it. I guess I never did really run thru string sets and pick out triads one by one lol. Again, a symptom of my Google syllabus lol. I pretty much found a shape or two for triads with roots on only 3 strings. So ya know like I know triads w roots on either A, Small E, and G. I memorized like 3 shapes for each root string and then went to town lol.
      It served me pretty well for a decently long time. But this new player just came to the one jazz club in my area and....boy oh boy did it seem like he had a distaste for single notes in a solo lol. He was double stops, triads, chord stabs and all the techniques that involve more than one note lmao. I honestly am kinda thinking that he was trying to like...make it obvious to me that he noticed my lack of triads and chord stabs in my solo...like it sounded as if he sacrificed his own chorus to solo...just to be like yo practice this haha. Even tho, being honest, my solos over Watermelon Man are absolutely ripping haha. That was my first Jazz tune, first one I fell in love with and first one I learned all the way thru and ive been writing solos over it almost daily for 3 years haha. It's my warmup on days where I don't feel like going all the way around the circle of fourths with my arpeggio exercise lol. Ill do maybe 3 4ths and then just turn on Watermelon Man from Takin off, I have a file of it without any of their solos and I just do my best to impress Herb and Dex :)
