- Time to get your groove on and CRUSH THE FUNK!!!
This week we're learning the most essential guitar chord voicings/shapes for playing funk guitar and breaking down four iconic funk guitar riffs. We'll be checking out new chord shapes and how to embellish them plus work on James Brown's "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag," Prince's "Kiss," Tower of Power's "Soul with a Capital S," and Average White Band's classic "Cut the Cake."

What ur doing with ur ring finger is incredibly challenging. Its a technical skill in itsself
Takes a while to get it down but that’s an essential technique for a lot of other bar chords and things too!
Mr. Nauman.....nice basic and some great alternatives...funk chord voicing...thanks for sharing most generous...appreciated.

Hey I've been playing guitar for a very long time. I have a rock metal, blues background. I'm wanting to get into funk Jazz. What are a couple of songs just starting out with Jazz that you could recommend learning?
Heck ya! Check out Cold Duck Time, Cantaloupe Island, Chameleon, Red Clay, Mr Clean, Jody Grind!
How are you able to play the full 9 chord and hammer on to the 13 with no error. I'm getting so frustrated and I feel like my hands aren't small so I don't know why it's giving me so much trouble
I'm referring to when the root is on the A string btw, having no problems with the other shapes and hammering on just that one. Either the D string ends up muted, I can't reach the hammer or there's just awful buzz.
Fonky
Super phunky!
Thanks so much for watching! Happy jamming!
"fat" "chunky" ?
