    That is such a good point about the face shield not protecting properly with the inclination loupes. In school we never wore shields pre-COVID-19 but after seeing how much splash-back actually gets on the shield, I will always properly wear one. I’m definitely gonna look into Z shield.

    Great video Dr. Grutter! I'm LumaDent's Texas sales rep and will be sharing your video with customers who would like an honest review from a current ErgoPrism user. Also, LumaDent does have an attachment that will allow you to use the LumaDent wireless light system on your DFV loupe. It is a custom mount that is $30 plus shipping cost.

      They're great. Really did like them, but decided to use them last week to see if I could visualize a broken component in an implant (I didn't). I felt like I was voluntarily sacrificing my neck for my patient by wearing them.

    Thanks for the great video. Which Z-shield did you get? I see one called Z-Shield Flex and one called Z-Shield Wrap on their website that both look exactly like what you had in the video.

    • @bgrutterdds
      @bgrutterdds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flex. Thanks for the reminder to add the link. The Wrap might be great, but I haven't tried it. The biggest difference is that it has a more drastic curvature, protecting the sides of your face. I don't really see the value in what we do, though maybe my assistant might bump into it less frequently. As it stands, it gets bumped once every 3days or so. Not really something I even think of, aside from this moment as I compare the two. I have one for each op. Maybe but one of each and see which you prefer. 🤷

    Thank you Dr. Baron for a very resourceful video. I am a D1 student in my second semester, wanted to know if you Would recommend the lumadent loupes for someone that is just starting their dental career. I had just purchased regular loupes from Q topics with a 4.5x magnification, I still see myself bending my neck down. Also just want to confirm if these are the Lumadent ErgoPrism loupes.
    Now designs for vision just released their infinity VUE loupes, which might have some similar characteristics to the lumadent ergo prisms in regards to the declination angle but the downside is that the highest magnification goes up to 3.5x. Thank you for your time.

    • @bgrutterdds
      @bgrutterdds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Everything you said is correct. I think it's perfectly reasonable to get proper declination loupes, now. I wouldn't wait. I WOULD suggest doing oral surgery without them, and perhaps any Ortho you get to do. That way you are comfortable in using direct vision if that's ever needed. And those two areas benefit most by large visual field and benefit least from high detail, zoom. For you, I would also consider Andau. Nearly identical to ErgoPrisms, but higher magnification and better/brighter light. You don't need the higher Mag (stick with 5x) but the brighter light would be good. That MIGHT even be cheaper. That said, I really like Lumadent and don't think you can go wrong.

      @@bgrutterdds I appreciate the quick and sincere response Dr. Baron. Thank you for your notes, I'll definitely look into them as well as research about Andau. I have purchased my light from Ultralight optics, and I can surely say they are quite powerful and long lasting, and easy to set up on most brands of loupes. Thank you again for your time.

  • @arahartounian2124
