I was always confused why you would say “no attack is a good thing”. I always thought the CP was related to the HP. This makes more sense. I’m not much for PVP but I’m a big Raid fan and it will be handy when clearing out my Pokémon.

Well, it depends on the CP after all...
There are some cases where hundos can get very close to the limit...
Sylveon for example with 15/15/15 has 2499 CP, so with Sylveon it would not matter becuase you are just 1 CP away of the limit, which is nothing
But for talonflame for example a 15/15/15 has 1480 CP while a 0/15/12 has 1498 CP and this makes a difference v:
So in conclusion, if you are less than 10 or 12 CP away from the limit, no worries but usually on the 1500 CP league is where the low attack IVs start to matter slighty more becuase of the limit being lower comparing to the 2500 CP league

@@AJ42069 Basically, the only reason why you would want a 15/15/15 is if you plan on using that pokemon for the Masters League(& plan on maxing it out)
Otherwise, for great league/ultra league whatever pokemon u plan to level to the highest CP cap(1500/2500) for those two leagues - a pokemon w/ 0/15/15 will require more candy/stardust to reach ur CP goal BECAUSE the pokemon is bulkier w/ the high CP/stamina it will take a lot more charge moves to defeat it. Great video. I feel it will help people better understand why they might be getting overtaken in pvp. I must say however, using Azumarill as an example since its rank 1 is 0 15 15, I feel like it would be harder to find a 0 15 15 than it would a 15 15 15. I mean, I have about 20 or so various Hundos, I'm not sure that I've ever seen a 0 15 15, and if i have, i didnt pay much attention to it. Albeit most of my teams are for ultra and master, so I havnt necessarily been on the lookout.

So CP can be thought of as actual DBZ-ish powerlevel, because it takes stats into account, and strength of course counts the most. So, by selecting a pokemon with a low strength, you can get a higher actual *level* (more powered up) pokemon into each league's restrictions.

It sounds like a handicap has been put in place? How can one reach higher CP, with a poor attack stat, which somehow then translates to a higher level and maximizing your Pokémon? It’s almost like saying, “hey, your attack stat is trash, here’s a few levels to help you out.” Uh... catch a better quality Pokémon and bring that to battle instead, yeah?

      HP and Def are Sand
      Atk are Pebbles
The jar has max capacity (1500cp / 2600cp)
The jar with sand is more filled than a jar filled with pebbles.

since attack stats increase the CP twice more than Def and Sta does hence to make sure highest stats in lowest CP (due to CP cap i.e 1500 or 2500) its best to have least or 0 attack IV, so a pokemon with 0 att will (for eg.) level 30 and still under 1500 cp but other mon of same species will reach above 1500cp at level 25 just cuz it got higher attack stat(same def and sta for both mons)

One topic with adding to this then is PVP ranking based on both the stats here and movesets and why the rankings keep changing as Niantic adjusts and adds new movesets.
Also, it would be interesting to see someone actually calculate what the PvP IV perfection actually means comparing a meta relevant Pokemon like say Lickitung at 100% vs say 90%, 80%, 50% etc.
Sometimes we kill ourselves for perfect IVs when a delaying a switch for a second is the real issue more than a 100% vs 93% perfect 😂

I’m sorry if I sound like an airhead but are you saying that a Pokémon with a lower attack and higher defense and HP is better then say a Pokémon with a higher attack and lower defense and HP? I’m still newer to the game. In the beginning I was just deleting all Pokémon that were the lowest CP. Now I have learned to appraise them before I transfer them. So I’m learning the ropes slowly but surely.
What app would you suggest for getting their exact IV percentages? I don’t want to install something untrusted, so figured I’d ask you first. Thanks again!

Hey no worries it's a confusing subject. But yes that is what I am saying *for pokemon used in PvP aka agaisnt other players* however note in master league/raids, where there is no cp limit to the pokemon you use, this rule doesn't apply and you want as close to perfect as you can for IV's!

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@ Thank you so much for your response! Okay so here’s a question for ya.... I’ve been searching and trying to figure this out.... I now use Go Stadium IV rank checker because that’s the one you showcased in your video. (thank you btw). Do you suggest to just change to the pokegenie one? Is it better?
Here’s my dilemma with the go stadium IV checker. I just started playing Pokémon Go in February of this year (2021). I enjoy the game a lot and I’m starting to understand it a lot more than I did in the beginning. When I first started playing I only kept high CP Pokémon. I then found out about 1, 2 & 3 star Pokémon.... I then would delete all the 0 & 1 star Pokémon and only keep high 2 star or 3 star Pokémon. I then found out that having less then perfect IV’s was actually a good thing for PVP. So have been occasionally playing PVP for about 5-6 weeks now. However, I’m not sure what to mark the shadow Pokémon that I get either from Grunts or from battling leaders. They also don’t have an option for Go Battle League Pokémon? At first I was listing them as raid/research but if the IV’s are low they say not found. I just don’t want to be wrong when inputting the information. What should you mark the Pokémon from GBL? And then what about the shadow Pokémon that are t legendary Pokémon? So sorry for such a long comment. Your help is greatly appreciated. 😇

So it's important thing to see is if a pokemon reach CP1500 and doesn't matter about the IV for the great league?

  • @hiss9989

What’s a decent pvp IV percentage to keep? Is over 80% good or should we aim for 90% and above?

  • @amitnaik7513

But if a pokemon has 15-15-15 stats doesn't it also mean that it will do more damage even on its quick moves? Having bulkier pokemon leads to longevity in battle but it also does less damage in turn due to low attack stats. So shouldn't both pros & cons cancel each other out?

    • @nathanielbean3119
      @nathanielbean3119 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Ah no he’s saying that the attack star give you lots of cp so it will be a lower level when maxed to the league cap, but if you no attack it will have low cp but it can reach a higher level so more health. This is because he said that charged moves win you battles

    • @amitnaik7513

@@nathanielbean3119 Yes brother.. I know that PoGo PvP is a game of enduring opponents attacks but then it's indicates an imbalance in the game.. A pokemon with high attack should do equally high damage with its fast attacks before it gets knocked out by opponent. If charged attacks are the only key to victory then it is not a very good system imo.

Gosh I wish there was a way to properly see your pokemon's stats, though tbh this system just seems... broken? Its literally counter intuitive, pokemon with higher IVs and are promoted by the game as better are actually weaker unless at max level
CP is a freaking wack system

  • @XmortoxX1990
    @XmortoxX1990 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Even after the explanation, I don't get why having no attack IV's it's beneficial for PVP, I mean, having a perfect IV Pokemon should be able to tank the same hit but dish a bit more damage.
This against of what I've learned from how things work in the main games, where unless you want a Pokemon dedicated to stall or support (something Impossible in GO I know), even bulky attackers Like Tyranitar, you want high/perfect IV's for to get the most of the Pokemon.
I guess since you don't aim to one or two shot each other, and actually survive, getting the highest attack is not priority. Still very helpful video, but this may mean I might have to grind newer Pokemon for the league, but hey, I just realized my first ever perfect IV Pokemon is Galvantula, so I already know I have a great Pokemon for Ultra League once I reach 38 and grind more candies for him :D

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I understand your confusion it's hard to get your head around it!
It would make sense that they could tank same hits right with same IV's! but remember since once has more attack IV's it will be a lower level (think of main series levels) once it hits the great league CP cap. When powering it up, it has higher attack IV's so its cp jumps up alot more then one with no attack.
In the end think of in the main series games running a level 30 Pokémon that has high attack IVS and EVS us a level 40 Pokémon that has low to no IVS and EVS. Its the level that makes more of the difference...
Its all about the level and in the end having those attack ivs will make your CP hit 1500 when powering up at alot lower of a level...
If you dont understand cp and IVS maybe this video will help you: th-cam.com/video/7VnVnFvlFRU/w-d-xo.html

@ I got the basics of them already, but I have to go deeper, you really helped me to actually understand how the hidden systems work. This is just like the main series: Deceptively simple in the surface, but really deep once you delve into mechanics. Once again, this was helfull and at least i know i hit a winner with my 15/15/15 Galvantula, so can't wait to reach 38 already!

is it even worth battling at lower trainers levels with pokemon that arent "pvp stated"??
for example i didnt know about the "pvp stats" and only kept 3 star pokemon, is it even worth it to do pvp for me? or should i just go find correct pokemon?
or i guess a better question would be what ranking would you see as acceptable? like for example according to stadium gaming website my swampert is like 125th best rated, so in my mind its just not worth it

Another awesome video!! This all makes sense. But , how do we really know what pokemon to choose for battle. For Example , if we have an azumarill thats ranked 3 on pvpoke but the one we have has a terrible stat product ranked about 2000. On the other hand, we have a pokemon ranked 50 on pvpoke but it has a perfect rank of 1. Which will do better in the league? Should we be focusing on picking up hi ranked pokemon with terrible stats or using mediocre pokemon with perfect stats?

Very useful video as always! I still cant figure out which filter should i choose for pokemon caught in the GBL CUP as a reward (usually for your third win out of the possible five). Is it the "wild catch" or the "raid/egg/research"? Cause if you change these two, without changing the ivs of your pokemon, the ranking in each league changes too. The stadiumgaming site for rank checking is a little different now compared to what you show in your video (November 2022). Thanks to whoever can help🙏.

    Alright two point:
    1) At high level pvp is it better to look at the specific break points against specific common match-ups? I have seen this mentioned, and even thought the stat product might be lower it would perform better by way of just reaching an attack or barely surviving an attack.
    2) For heavy quick attackers, like a shadow granbull could we situationally do 15/0/0 to max out pure damage rather than trying to live until we get to a charge move - I'm not sure if this is relevant.
