      My advice. Just leave pvp. Is it worth it? Hell no.
      For me the start of this season was great with near constant wins. Now it's constant losses. Doesn't matter what team combo I use I always end up loosing. That's the thing about pvp. Every win must be balanced out by a loss. If you won 5 matches in one set you must lose 5 matches in the next set. That's what has been happening with me for a while now. I would win 5 matches in one set then lose 5 matches in the very next set. I'm done with this crap.

    Coming from an extensive background of tabletop gaming, you hear the phrase "you only needed to do 1 point of dmg" so often. Those extra points add up over time and are worth seeking out the breakpoints you need. It's not vital in normal rankings since you can 1 win grind your way to r20, but it could be what pushes you rating higher. Most players either don't care about them, or don't know(some believe hard-core that using any info outside of the app is cheating).
    Great breakdown Dax. Hope this helps people understand the concept better.

    this is only for harcore pvp guys. We run like thousands of sims just to find these and optimize our resources. good content. ONE thing, Rank 1 ivs dont maximize bulk. They maximize total stats. That means there are more defense weighted IV spreads than Rank 1

    Great video Daxi! Very happy to see you making more pvp focused content and thus providing people more knowledge on the topic! If I had no add something it would be to precise something you said. The rank 1 isn't the most defensive option of a mon, yes it is the bulkiest overall, but in pvpoke you can actually maximize a pokemon regarding its defense, and it wont be the rank 1. So just wanted to say that despise it being very accurate, we could be even more when calculating the breakpoint!

    • @thefaller01
      @thefaller01 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It will always be situational and depends on what people actually think when doing their plays.
      For example going for what you said, which is pretty general (don't take it negatively) for the active pvp player, you can easily assume that every top meta community day pokemon that you will find in pvp will be at least top 50-70 rank. Easy example: walrein. If you want to be ahead of the curve, you'll want a walrein which will have an atk stat which can beat cmp on those rank 50-70 or better walreins. Having a rank 1 walrein will actually do more harm than good since a meta around walreins, if you face an opponent walrein you either switch or lose lead and those could be common occurences. By having a rank 150 or even a rank 200 you put yourself in a situation that you'll be able to beat the general active playerbase that thinks "bulk = better", which isn't a wrong mentality, mind you, but easily exploitable.
      This babbling i did actually doesn't mention bulk or breakpoints now that i read it a second time, but ill leave it as food for thought and give you another example which i use: medicham. I'm using an xl one but rank 80 or smth. It loses like 3 or 4 hp and some def, who could make some difference on some matchups (when 3-4 hp could make a difference but they are rare), however i get to have a breakpoint vs skarmories who have lower def than normal (even if they have good rank). in a straightup battle like you usually see on pvpoke, my medicham still loses that fight with or without the breakpoint, however the difference of hp left on skarmory goes from "safe matchup" to "almost lost it". This means in certain situations, i can actually come with my medicham and actually get wins or farm advantage because of how punishing counter can be.
      This is stuff which obviously is situatinal, but its up to you to understand if you rather have absolute bulk and be predictable to homever may be tryharding the game, or try to fish some matchups who depending on the meta may or may not payoff. Or just watch swagtips and he'll do it for you ;)

    • @velo_GG
      @velo_GG 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@thefaller01 exactly, ur assuming they have a rank 50-70 and ur 200 will have advantage. so you make decisions based on that, but then they also have a rank 200 it changes. ig its statistically more likely that people choose top ranked mons and over the long term you would have an edge.
      the general bulky mon would also work in different metas. but ig if ur loaded with dust and want top legend everytime break out the microscope lol

    the biggest reason i can see going for bulk points over break points is its the information you hold. I can know if i have the bulk that i can assure myself i have the bulk point i want generally , meanwhile if i run the risk of high attack break points then i could be vs something with higher def then expected, in the sable example it assumes the lapras your fighting is using optimal iv, if someones using a lapras with some attack IV then you just got played and will end up losing the match up. Very few pokemon do i think this would be valid for is like defence deoxys, its defence is so absurdly high that losing 6-7 def for some more attack works wonders but for many pokemon the risk of losing 20-30 more matchups to win 7-8 more is just not worth it
    plus i think shadows are a better option for this idea of beating breakpoints which leads to spice picks that honestly sometimes perform better (machamp)

    Even though it is a very interesting topic having to do all this resesearch manually is very time and energy consuming. There should be an app or website (like stadium) in which whenever you put the IVs of your pokemon it should tell you what breakpoints/bulkpoints are available for that IV set.

    You can either take the "Stat Product" or "Breakpoint/Bulkpoint" approach to keeping certain PvP IVs. Stat Product basically ensures the most bulk where you can cover your bases to best average performance across all matchups. Breakpoint/Bulkpoint is for specific matchups and mirror match. Personally, I always try to have one of each mon as close to rank 1 as possible. Then I will have backup IV distributions, on popular meta mons, for specific matchups depending on how common certain mons are in specific metas. Rank 1 may be best in ope format, but attack weighted may be best in restricted formats.

  • @Weav576
    @Weav576 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just began to get more into PVP for about a month so far and now i can say that I now fully understand how it works. As having a 0 attack iv with 15 in both attack and stanima, would make that mon at a higher lvl at 1500 or 2500 vs one thats a hundo, since the lack of attavk woulf require more lvl ups to get to 1500 and or 2500, thus the higher lvl and defenses, overall makes that pokemon much bulkier and better. I also have pokegenie ans just realised i had a shadow salamence amd tyranitar that were perfect for great league as pokegenie said that they was 99. something% in rank meaning there woulf be only a less than a 1% chance to find the same one with same ivs. My shadow salemence has 4, 15, 15 and powered up to cp 1495 and tyranotar is about 0, 13, 13 and powered up to cp 1486. Both were 99% in rank as stated in pokegenie. One excpetion that i see to the 0 attack is my 2 talonflames from comday. One is 14,15,14 and the other is 14,14,15, both are 96% almost the same just very small in difference, as one reaches 1499 and the other reaches 1500 for great league. However today I found out that they are both most ideal for ultra league and both are most optimal at 99% something in rank. This is because talonflame reaches close to 2500 when maxed out at lvl 50, and because they would have to be maxed out for ultra league, this is how i can see the 0 attack would not be ideal since obvioulsy being maxxed out makes the most of them and i beilbe the most ideal would be a hundo talonflame. Which is makes sense as master league mons 0 attack is not ideal.

    • @Pamijay
      @Pamijay 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Breakpoints are generally not too common to recommend a 15 attack stat with no bulk. I'd still recommend that you stick to a higher stat product blastoise.

  • @luchulainn
    @luchulainn ปีที่แล้ว

    Pretty sure you read the matchups wrong in the breakpoints vs pvp IVS between Sableye and Lapras. On Pvpoke, the white star indicates a win for the Pokémon in the row, not the column. So at 12:38, the more attack weighted Sable will win, and that’s generally the case for higher damage fast moves in more shield scenarios. A Pokémon with less bulk in 0 shield scenarios will perform worse because it can’t take charged moves as well.

    @cypher7523 ปีที่แล้ว

    This info is all well and good. But you cant IV train in go. So outside of just grinding and grinding how can you get a pokemon with the perfect iv break point? Surely its just random? I get it if your going for worlds or too rank league but so much effort and grind for something you could never find due to rng?
    If this was vgc training ivs is easy.
    I mean to ask, you cant make any of this happen right? You just finding out what the iv spread you want is, then just pray and hope you find one within the year?

    Should you use PVP IVs for Gym Defending Pokémon?
    As in a Pokémon you place in a gym?

    HP is REALLY confusing in pokon go, I really wish there was an "effective health" translation. My level 47 chancy has more health than any other pokemon in my collection! Does that mean it can tank the Master League? Hell no.

    But I had to rewind and re listen to that part about 5 or 6 times to hear what you were trying to say so I'm just trying to offer some constructive criticism. That's all! And LOVE that you time stamp things so THOROUGHLY!!

    It’s seems way too specific to hope you get the matchup in gbl that you set it all up for. I think my biggest takeaway is that you don’t have to worry about finding the perfect 0/15/15 so much since a little extra attack may end up rounding up a damage point sometimes. Interesting to understand the mechanics though, like seeing these types of videos.

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well in generally there is one attack stat that hits mutliple mons. Say you need a attack of 121 for drapion, attack of 119 for azu, attack of 115 for deoxys & attack of 122 for jellicent breakpoints. Just make sure you hit a attack of 122 and you hit them all.

    • @ianoleary8122
      @ianoleary8122 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess that simplifies it a bit since it works against multiple common matchups. The rank 1 pvp ivs and breakpoint ivs would be good additions to spotlight and comm day videos so people have something else they know to hunt for, like when you list the hundo cp. I have an iPhone so the poke genie scanner doesn’t really work for me to sort thru all my pvp ivs.

    Dax I've an idea why not make a video on all the breakpoint pvp ivs for master league legendary mons I think it'd a nice idea and will help people know which legendary mons to power up knowing the breakpoint ivs of legendary will help trainers choose which iv mons to power up for ML and that you don't only need hundo for ML functional hundos work as well like for dialga its 15/14+/12+.

      In ML its always better to aim for hundo stats because its the maximum limit for a pokemon's potential, breakpoints are for mons that has almost hundo stats.
      Better yet, breakpoints are best applicable with other leagues because it can fluctuate the final overall performance of certain pokemon's against the more meta or known stats

    Everyone suggest to use Dragon Breath as a Fast Move for Dragonite in PvP. But if we look at that EPS and DPS of Dragonite, it's clear that Dragon Tail is Much better choice than Dragon Breath, it Delivers more damage and produces 0.2 more eps than D. Breath. What do you suggest? For PvP..

    • @LuxionXB
      @LuxionXB 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      What i like about dragon breath is the fastness of the move itself. It offers maneuverability, gives you more time to respond and makes moves harder to catch for the opponent

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Both are good. Dragon tail might be slightly better but also dragon breath being a 1 turn move allows you move around quicker and get stuck less in fast moves

    • @Pamijay
      @Pamijay 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think if you're playing at a lower ranking, people may not time their fast moves properly which lets you sneak moves in really easily. An entire dragon tail snuck in is a ton of value compared to just one dragon breath. I think in that situation dragon tail is the way to go, but I generally prefer dragon breath.
