Same, I got back to the game last week and this time I'm going to ask people I meet to play along with me. I hope to have a great friend group for Pokemon go in the future
This video is exactly what I needed to start trainer battles! I am completely new to Pokemon Go, and all the other videos assume you know the very basics - which I didn't. So thank you, thank you!
The charge move bar changes in PVP, you can view how many can you fully charge in the "trainer battle" setting above the moves. It is set to Gyms and raids because they got here first.

Yup my mistake... Forgot to swipe when recording video 😅 same concept though!
I love how easy you've made my return to this game. I'm a month in, and literally feel like I never left with the amazing videos you put out. Keep it up Dax, you're killing it!
I started following you like 4 days ago and have been an avid PvP player and had no idea about the shield color!! ty for these videos! I've learned so much already from this channel!
Deeply appreciated - Literally the ONLY person on TH-cam I can understand. At lvl 35 this 55 yo trying desperately to step-up my gameplay. I want to enjoy PVP more but I don’t have all the top Pokémon yet and obviously no XLs. Maybe another video for the lower level players? Also - I am still completely confused by the energy bars above the heads of each Pokémon. I need to rely on them a bit since I am not quick at sizing things up but they make no sense to me. Any chance there’s a video explaining them and how and if to use them for the Noobs?
15:00 it's important to know that babies only cost 10k dust and 25 candies, so an extra move togepi will be way cheaper than togekiss if you evolve before getting a new charge move.
Really good breakdown. I've been focusing on just getting the fastest moves, but now I can look into other factors. Definitely interested in a video for more advanced tactics. I've noticed good players farming up a charge move with the lead pokemon. I'm curious how to best bait and defend against baits. For baiting, it seems like I'd really need that 2nd move, and having one move that really quick and one that slow...then farming up the quick charge move twice and using that as bait instead of the slow charge move.
Not gonna lie I thought it was a little too much noobs when Daxi started with "Gotta tap to attack and you wanna tap fast". Then you start talking about about how these turns, energy, and damage all work with fast moves. Never would of guessed it but always wondered why my Ho-oh's incinerate took sooo long to use.... Seriously Poke Daxi you're a amazing teacher! Keep up the work mate!

I started to using stunfisk for great league after watching your 2021 go fest tip video. And I let it learned a second charged move and damn he is so good.
I noticed you weren’t mentioning that under each Pokémon there are 2 tabs that show the move sets: raids/gyms and trainer battles. I didn’t notice them at first but they do seem significantly different in some cases. I think the PVP is all in trainer battles.
3 ปีที่แล้ว +1
Yes my mistake! Always look at bars for trainer battles not raids. My bad
Hej Daxi. Really love how you explain. Would love to have more videos for PVP how to build team for UL, GL, switch, counting etc. I learned a lot from you videos and thank for your time. Regards from Sweden
the basic,s are explained but it would be nice to make a video explaining when to use a move instead of trowing it at the moment you get it or something to learn some more skills in pvp, nice vid btw.
Nice overview. I've been playing PvP for a couple months and understood the general idea, but your insight into how to read the stats was very helpful, as well as the lead/switch/close strategy. Thanks for this!
I would also like to say that after you use a charged move, the other player will get to fast attack first. This is critical when youre on your last pokemon and youre not sure if your charged move will defeat the other pokemon. Also im pretty sure if you use a charged attack before the enemies attack hits you, it wont hit you as obvious as that sounds.
There are absolutely times when you want to hold out on throwing a charge move despite having hit the energy cap. Also you used the "Gyms & Raids"-tab whenever showing move stats ingame. That's why Bulldoze displayed as a "two-bar-move" despite being one bar in PvP.
Excellent video! I've been playing pokemon for a while but the mechanics of Pokemon Go are different from regular games, so I'm a litte bit confuse. This video is helping me understand it better. I wish you can do a second part explaining how the IVs can help in PvP
