A citation in the military is a GOOD thing. For instance, the Medal of Honor citation is the official record for why the individual is receiving the award and is read to troops to inspire them. Thrawn here was giving an award to the captain posthumously as a gesture to boost morale for the rest of his troops, not to whip them into obedience.

I disagree about the kyber crystals. I'm guessing Huyang has a stash. You can't expect a Jedi to go on a massive quest every single time their saber is lost or broken. Look how often it happens. It's just not practical. Sure, if they have time to go on a quest, okay. But, they also need them on the fly. The quest as a Padawan is just more of a rite of passage.
On the quest to get a kyber crystal they probably would return with a crystal unrefined or shaped, that was possibly enough to make a dozen lightsabers. Would make a lot of sense to get as much out of each one as possible. Reserve some for the one who got the crystal, and keep some for insurance.

IDK about them being reanimated, historical Death troopers were said to have undergone so very uncomfortable operations to make them better that might be what we're seeing under the helmet.
@maxstroberger5404 I feel like the very decomposed flesh underneath their helmets indicates that they are, in fact, reanimated. Furthermore, we've just seen the Night Sisters do the same thing to a few dozen standard troopers, and they're both also much tankier than any Death Troopers previously shown. Previously, we've seen their type go down to a single shot. But these two were able to endure multiple, as well as lightsaber strikes. I think this is enough to conclude that they're undead.
It is in fact a reference to the original Death Troopers. Also fun detail is Sabine breaks open the Death Trooper Helmet around the Mouth, same as the Original Death Trooper book’s trailer.
I interpreted Ezra's Kyber crystal being from his first blade, which I always head-cannoned that he had kept the crystal after the blade was destroyed, and was waiting for the right time to use it again, after getting his green one (from where I still don't know???? was that ever explained?) either that, or he was able to steal Kanan's crystal off of the Chimera when the hijacking and traveling happened. hopefully they do confirm/explain how he got it, even just saying the crystal was on this planet. also, I love how even though Ezra didn't actually get Kanan's lightsaber like Erik predicted, but he did get the parts for it :) I still count that as getting the prediction right Erik!

I absolutely loved this episode. It was a satisfying conclusion to the season as a whole, whilst setting up big things for Ahsoka Season 2, Mandalorian Season 4, Skeleton Crew and the Dave Filoni Film. While the episode certainly wasn’t as good as Episode 5, it certainly surpasses Episodes 4, 6 and 7. I’m so hyped for what’s to come. In Dave, We Trust.
13:06 I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but "citation" in military conflicts usually refers to the written narrative that accompanies an award or medal honoring someone's dedication or major accomplishment. In this case, the pilot's citation might call out how he sacrificed his life to delay the enemy long enough for friendly forces to escape. If this is what the writers intended, it really highlights how much Thrawn cares about his troops and explains their loyalty to him. Awards like these improve morale and solidarity, and good leaders use them at the right times.
Absolutely. And that’s why so many troopers volunteered to sacrifice themselves to delay the enemy so the rest could escape. It goes from respecto to fanatismo, and in between.
That is probably Ezra's first kyber crystal from the blaster saber that was destroyed on Malachor. That lightsaber was designed to easily remove the kyber crystal, he left the broken hilt but could have kept the crystal.
Thinking about it you're probably right about it being the same crystal. But I do have a question wdym by "left the broken hilt" I'm pretty sure his S3 saber forward is partially made from the old saber I'm pretty sure u could see the switch on it In close ups
I thought that might be the case as well. I always like to think kyber crystals are salvaged when the hilt is damaged. After Episode I, I imagine Obi-Wan was given the broken remains of his lightsaber after Naboo guards come to tell him they couldn't find Maul's body. Or in Episode II, I like to think when Anakin's lightsaber is damaged on that assembly line he pocketed the crystal. 🔷️
Baylan is wearing two different shades of green cloaks at the end. a darker shade, that is the same color as the vegetation of the mountain & a lighter shade that could be reminiscent of the Daughter. in fact, the coloring of his whole garb looks very much aligned with the epic scene he is standing in... perhaps signifying he is becoming one with his greater mission.
Your love and wonder for Star Wars takes me back to my childhood when I too felt the lump in my throat rise watching Luke forgive his father allowing his father to forgive himself. Thank you for your passion and brilliant commentary!
About the Kyber Crystals, given this has been the fall of the Jedi and the scavenging of the Jedi temples. It would make sense that they would have grabbed any Kybur crystals they came in contact. And since in the previous episode we saw how Ezra was stronger with the Force than before he could probably wield any crystal he came in contact with.
This is a great video. Your enthusiasm is infectious. It is fun to specutate. Baylon was a real stand out. I love Huyang. The only down for me was the emotional dissonance displayyed by Ezra and Sabina when they reunited. Just felt wrong. Still loved the series and desire more. Perhaps Grogu"s observing the space whales was in response to Asoka being in them.
Hear me out..... .....Maybe just maybe the gap between the father and the broken sister was a statue of the mother?! I mean it looks like something was there and the brother and father are standing very close to each other, but the sister is quite far to the left. Just enough space to fit a fours statue.
I really hope to see a live action abeloth and in doing so I hope they are able to tie in the yuuzhan vong in some way. A horror movie style Star Wars would make me cry tears of happiness
You guys are the best. Thanks for being part of our Ashoka experience these past two months. This series ended in the most Filoni way and it was great.
When Huyang said he had two of the same peices of Kanans lightsabor, maybe the reason he has two of the same type of lightsabors is because there is a master and apprentice and Huyang keeps two for the master and apprentice

Actually the "wood between worlds" is from the Magician's Nephew. The woods that the pevinsie children enter through the wardrobe are just plain woods in the middle of Narnia.
Er no the magician's nephew puddle woods are the forest between worlds, the woods between worlds is exclusively the name for the woods that mark narnia's western most edge and the emergence point for all and sundry to get to the current iteration of narnia marked by a suspiciously placed welcoming lamppost.
@@xyreniaofcthrayn1195 This is the same spot. In the magician's nephew the white witch threw a piece of a lamp post at Asland (I think this is accurate) and that piece grew into that lamp post.
@@xyreniaofcthrayn1195 the chapter where they're in the puddle woods is literally called "the wood between the worlds". It's chapter 3 of magician's nephew.

So I just noticed something rewatching the cutscenes from Jedi: Survivor.. Right after Cal kills the Ninth Sister and gets back on the Mantis, a projection of memories appears. In one of them Merrin (the night sister) says: " One day, I will return to Dathomir, and whisper what I've learned to my sleeping sisters". I wonder if that's referring to Thrawns "cargo"..
Filoni was referring to the wood between worlds in "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's nephew" and not "The Lion, The Witch and the wardrobe". The wood between worlds was a place that connected all space and time, all worlds in one nexus, with portals leading to each. So he got both the concept and the name from that book.
It'd be interesting if they link the Night Sisters to Abeloth...they use Great Mother as a title for their leaders so maybe that's been passed down from the 'original mother'
To be clear, that "citation" (because I'm seeing a lot of people potentially interpreting it wrong) has a much different meaning in the military than it does in most other aspects. Example, a citation from a police officer is more of a write-up or disciplinary action. However, in the military, a citation usually means an honorary mention that celebrates a soldier's actions. So, I see this as not a petty post-death disciplinary action in those two pilots record, but rather an honor that they gave their lives for their Admiral in a successful attempt to stall our heroes.
I know everything has been greek mythology so far, but Morgan could also be in reference to Morgan Le Fay. I don't know enough about Arthurian lore to point out any particular similarities, but they are both witches and Morgan IS a very randomly normal sounding name.
I noticed the opening shot of the Chimaera and the Fortress was shaped as an hourglass to reinforce the time buying theme of Thrawn's strategy, very cool
Baylan is closer to a traditional Jedi than Ahsoka and pals. Ezra was trained by a pirate who was casually sleeping with his best friend, encouraged attachment and let Ezra learn about the darkside with Maul. Ahsoka is a straight up Jedi outcast that resents the old order and council. Sabine is basically a force sensitive Mando that's learning force techiques.
@@Brun-s7o I'm pretty Kanan would have been expelled for sharing a cabin and sleeping with Hera for 12 years. They were fighting a war so they didn't put labels on it but that's a pretty obvious attachment.
@@KingShibeHow is my post a cope? I just find it interesting that the Dark Jedi is closer to a traditional Jedi than the force users that are basically restarting the Jedi. How is a simple observation a cope?

The extra crystal when he's building his 3rd lightsaber, it could just be one he keeps for testing. If you know how to build them you might have the need to repair them, and being able to swap out crystals to test quickly if that's why a lighstaber was malfunctioning could be useful. I fix electronics, and often times having extra parts is the fastest or only way to test what's wrong.
In the military a citation is like a reward or recognition for exemplary actions. Thrawn is telling Enoch to give the commander of a citation for a medal or praise for doing a good job. It’s not meant as a disciplinary action against the commander of the TIE fighters. I think this is part of the reason the Night Troopers were chanting Thrawn’s name in episode 6, because he has inspired them as a leader who cares for them. This really comes through when he asks Morgan if the volunteers understand what the consequences of their volunteering really meant.
If I remember correctly, the witches of Dathomir were said to worship the Winged Goddess (The Daughter in his Griffin form) and the Fanged God (The son in his giant bat form). So, so I do believe that yes they are aware of the Morris gods.
Baylan tells us that according to the “old stories,” there exists on Peridea, “power such as you’ve never dreamed.” These “old stories” may allude to the Font of Power from Legends, which ties to the Mortis gods, and of course… Abeloth.
For the trooper that tripped on the step, you can see a deflected blaster shot go past him. So they tried to cover it up as if it was dodging it which is a nice detail.
I like the title and to think of Ashoka being Aslan and how they both “died” and came back to defeat the witch. Also how thrawn being the Warlord/Wardrobe as he is traveling from one realm/galaxy to another.
My big question is who was Marrok even more so now?? Because none of those reanimated troopers died the way he did with what we thought was night sister magick leaving his body
Morgan/Ahsoka has some real Crouching Tiger vibes to it and it's awesome Also, my god, what if it actually is the Mother, and the Mother is a Nightsister

i was under the impression they were definitely not making more mandalorian, and i was assuming they’re not doing more ahsoka.
@@feline.equationwhy would they not be making more mandolorian😂

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but "citation" in military conflicts usually refers to the written narrative that accompanies an award or medal honoring someone's dedication or major accomplishment.
Yes, he was definitely wanting to reward their sacrifice posthumously. As you said, that's part of why he has a fanatical following.
@@TheErockaustinwell, WE say posthumously, but the way they do things it could be for his reanimation celebration 🧟♂️
Absolutely. And that’s why so many troopers volunteered to sacrifice themselves to delay the enemy so the rest could escape.
It goes from respecto to fanatismo, and in between.
@@climbingdan Reanimation Celebration... ha!
Rest in peace ray Stevenson
I don't know how are we going to have a season 2 without him
Liev Schriver? the actor that played sabertooth in wolverine origins kind of favors him.
@@schoolzone821You could be right, I know his original saber was destroyed and it was sitting right beside him when Ahoska showed up.
I was about the say the same.
Wow, that would've been cool if they told us that, but it's obvious no one thought that far ahead for this series.
You and Emergency Awesome are my two favorite recaps pages. Thank you for being a friend...
Baylan is wearing two different shades of green cloaks at the end. a darker shade, that is the same color as the vegetation of the mountain & a lighter shade that could be reminiscent of the Daughter. in fact, the coloring of his whole garb looks very much aligned with the epic scene he is standing in... perhaps signifying he is becoming one with his greater mission.
that across the stars bit at the end was so good. I love AOTC so that got me emotional aff
I wonder if Ezra will take on Jacen as a Padawan :) That would be amazing!
Seems appropriate!
Exactly.
Ezra having Kanan's emitter is do fitting. You can almost tell how sad Huyang is when thinking of all the younglings he trained over 25000 years
Your channel is a huge reason I’ve been so invested in the Star Wars saga. Keep up the good work!!
And since in the previous episode we saw how Ezra was stronger with the Force than before he could probably wield any crystal he came in contact with.
or huyang just had extras as it wouldn't be practical to go on a quest everytime ur saber was destroyed.
This is a great video. Your enthusiasm is infectious. It is fun to specutate. Baylon was a real stand out. I love Huyang.
The only down for me was the emotional dissonance displayyed by
Ezra and Sabina when they reunited.
Just enough space to fit a fours statue.
oh hell nah…i'm very scared to see abeloth in live action
I really hope to see a live action abeloth and in doing so I hope they are able to tie in the yuuzhan vong in some way. A horror movie style Star Wars would make me cry tears of happiness
Abeloth was total nonsense. The franchise is better off keeping that stupid plot in legends.
@@darkenkil4416 im sorry that you feel that way. a lot people dont feel that way.
You guys are the best. Thanks for being part of our Ashoka experience these past two months. This series ended in the most Filoni way and it was great.
When Huyang said he had two of the same peices of Kanans lightsabor, maybe the reason he has two of the same type of lightsabors is because there is a master and apprentice and Huyang keeps two for the master and apprentice
or he just has multiple of the same pieces as there would be a lot of sabers built.
He literally says it’s incase kanan ever needed another
You guys saying thank you and sharing your passion has been wonderful to receive. Thank you for putting these together!!
I did not know the sounds from the movie Ghost were the sounds of babies crying. That doesn't make it any less terrifying.
Than you for your sincere video message!! It was awesome. Some of rarely will get comments from the video makers ( get lots of other persons commenting.) But your message explains why it is hard to get comments from the video makers. THANK YOU!!
RIP Ray, his character is destined for greatness with this celestials storyline.😢
Those storm troopers are superhero’s !! Standing around for hours and running with limited visibility! Those falls are real and they hurt for real !! The amount of love they have for what they do is insane and you don’t ever see their faces !! Amazing episode !!
Thank Ev for the great coverage this season! We appreciate the hard work you ,and the team do putting these videos together!!
Love the passion and respect you bring to every fandom you engage with. Thank you and the team for the incredible content!
@@xyreniaofcthrayn1195bro said “er no” 💀💀💀
@@xyreniaofcthrayn1195 This is the same spot.
@@matperry18 and is described as a forest with puddles that each allow for going to else world's but to get there (the puddle woods) explicitly requires a certain box full of nondescript gold rings and to get back requires a seperate box of emerald rings both were lost by the end of the magicians nephew or taken by Aslan it's not entirely clear.
Your outtro was so emotional. You're welcome. I love watching all the ones you mention. But your videos always seen too make me feel more joy. Thank you.
My entire knowledge of Star wars comes from this channel. I watched the Ahsoka finale last night and that is the first anything of Star Wars I have watched ever. Your enthusiasm pulled me in!
You started your journey into a galaxy far far away with the Ahsoka finale?
This is where the fun begins.
@@akeepers02 as far as actually watching the shows/movies yes. I have watched a serious amount of Content about everything from the three trilogies, to Clone Wars, to Rebels, etc...
@@ryanhoffmann9341 I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!
I was emotional happy ezra coming back home to the main galaxy, and reunited with hera ,and chopper.
The Anakin/Padme Theme carries some major "Hook" self sampling.
Erik , I can feel the emotions. Now you can get rest. You earned it!
You're always the last review to come out but the first one I want to watch. Thanks for your coverage of this season.
The ending shot of Ahsoka looking at the rings mirrors Luke looking at the Twin Suns
Thanks for an awesome season of breakdowns, Erik and New Rockstars team!
As always you and the team at new rockstars make the experience of watching these series so much more special. Thank you! ❤
Definitely possible as there was a mixture of mythology references. Skoll (Baylan) and Hati (Shin) are Norse figures.
Agreed! I immediately thought of Morgan Le Fay
Marrok also comes from Arthurian myth
@@hedydoyfulSame. It seems too specific to be a coincidence
As always, I watch the episode, then anxiously await you and your team to break it down. Well done. Thank you.
I can die happy now as a star wars fan having seen hayden again as a proper anakin force ghost.
im sorry but your content is the most comprehensive and thought full break downs on all my favorite sci fiction. Thank you so much!
Your recaps have been the cherry on top for this season. Thank you for doing all of these!
I love that you give props and recognition to all the other nerds out there that have channels exploring all Star Wars content.
7:56 Glad to see a live action scene of someone building a lightsaber.
I LOVE that you shouted-out other Star Wars channels at the end. That makes me like you ALL even more
Morgan is almost certainly named after Morgan LeFey, a witch and major antagonist in Arthurian legend.
I know, too! Thank you for making Ahsoka so enjoyable for those of us who haven't watched the animated series'.
I noticed the opening shot of the Chimaera and the Fortress was shaped as an hourglass to reinforce the time buying theme of Thrawn's strategy, very cool
Thank you for all your work! I loved that you shouted out other channels too.
Jedi permits casual sex
@@Brun-s7o I'm pretty Kanan would have been expelled for sharing a cabin and sleeping with Hera for 12 years. They were fighting a war so they didn't put labels on it but that's a pretty obvious attachment.
Cope
@@KingShibeHow is my post a cope? I just find it interesting that the Dark Jedi is closer to a traditional Jedi than the force users that are basically restarting the Jedi. How is a simple observation a cope?

@eavoss, thank you so much for producing this companionship to the Ahsoka season 1 journey.
I find myself wishing you made similar companionships to the other shows I love like foundation, wheel of time and many more
I got Raiders of the Lost Ark vibes from the final shot in Thrawns star destroyer with all those boxes or containers
Watching Ahsoka was made 1,000x more enjoyable by rushing after every episode to watch these. Thanks so much for making them.
The best part of this video is the shout out to all the other excellent star wars channels, love it! Very glad I found this channel!!
When I hear that 1874 song that you pointed out was in an episode of Buffy I think of the scene at the Birdcage in the movie Tombstone. Good stuff!
For the trooper that tripped on the step, you can see a deflected blaster shot go past him. So they tried to cover it up as if it was dodging it which is a nice detail.
when you said "mountain doom" that caught be off guard lol.
I like the title and to think of Ashoka being Aslan and how they both “died” and came back to defeat the witch. Also how thrawn being the Warlord/Wardrobe as he is traveling from one realm/galaxy to another.
What a heartfelt thanks :) thank you back for the good work over the years.
Thank you for all your hard work , not just for this amazing series but for all the content you make. ❤
I love how he has such a LOVE for Star Wars and what he does. Its amazing. I hope that one day I can have the same level of emotions for what I do
My big question is who was Marrok even more so now?? Because none of those reanimated troopers died the way he did with what we thought was night sister magick leaving his body
Bless you for getting emotional at the end. Big love, Voss! ❤
Morgan/Ahsoka has some real Crouching Tiger vibes to it and it's awesome
