    This guy pays attention to the details - for example how turf shades could look if cuts aren't aligned or how he painted the edges in black to make them less noticeable etc. Anthony doesn't cut corners, cares about the quality like it's his own boat - gentlemen, work like this in whatever field you're in and you WILL get recognition 100%.

    I am in the process of restoring a 35 year old Fisher Marine Grey Thunder bass boat and I find myself coming back to this channel over and over and over again for tips and tactics.
    Unbeknownst to him, Anthony has saved me a lot of time, money and heartache.
    And I've been able to learn a lot of how to tips for adding storage compartments and a rod locker and additional accessories like LED lighting.
    Thank you Sir for demonstrating professional grade work.

    Mate that is a stunning job you have done and great explanation about the process from all aspects of the work. I wasn't a fan of the colour choice of the grey/blue sripes but once you added all the black surrounds it really made a huge difference. Just gorgeous and I think it would ve even better if seen in person. Still cant believe how straight you can accurately cut the eva without a straight edge. Real talent and artwork! Well done.

    Hi Anthony Jones, really fantastic video. Will be very helpful if you could help answer a few questions:
    1. Is it okey to work with this material in 50-degree weather? I am sticking this to a painted fiberglass surface.
    2. At the 17:05 mark, you have taken the backing peel off material in strips. The sheet I have got has one large piece. What is a way to cut it?
    3. Some other videos use additional adhesive spray. Do you think it is a good idea?
    Thanks

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  ปีที่แล้ว

      1) No. Sea Dek recommends above 60 degree minimum install temperature
      2) gently cut the through the backing without cutting the foam. Used razor
      3) I have never used additional adhesive, nor does authorized Sea Dek installers. The backing on Sea Dek and Hydroturf is phenominal. If prepped properly and installed in proper temperatures you should have no issues. I never have. Hydroturf does sell an option that has no adhesive backing so you can save some $ per sheet and glue it yourself. I do not recommend this as you will hate your life. No room for error, messy, way more work, and still not as consistent as the backing from the manufacturer.
      With that said, i can only speak for my experience with what ive installed. I only use genuine sea dek or Hydroturf brands.

    If applying EVA foam to fiberglass resin plywood (like your video), should you use additional adhesive like 3M, to the wood and/or SS staples on the edges? And, cut the plywood to the exact width of the foam, mines just shy of 24". Thanks Cuz!

    Great video, a little tip on using the standard utility knife for long cross cuts or rip cut take a pair of pliers and snap a 1/8 to 1/4 in of the tip of the blade off. The blade is still brand new and ultrasharp it just allows it to cut straighter without the tip of the blade flexing and wandering off your line. You also can keep snapping It off a few times so you don't have to replace blades as often. I've been using this method for decades.👍

    What do you use to seal the aluminum deck to the edge? When you were explaining why you cut the way you do you said you already sealed the deck joint. Time was 14:41 for reference.

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did that in the decking process. For starters, deck mustbe as tight to side walls as you can get it. Then I run a bead of black silicone (exterior grade for construction) down the edge and let that cure for a few days before I do the turf.

    Howdy Mr. Jones. I have a question about installing Hydro Turf. Is temperature and humidity a big deal when installing HT? Thank you!

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I install 70 degrees or over for best results. When its colder than that, especially the surface temp of the boat, it obviously doesn't want to stick or bind as well. Not saying you can't do it, I'd just prefer to do it in a warm temp weather or climate controlled environment. Not sure humidity plays a factor so long as the surface is good and dryand cleaned properly.

      No. My editor puts subscribe logos directly after I show a cool technique or trick. Since i just demoed the stain resistance, the subscribe reminder comes right after that and before the clip breaks to the next segment. I assure you, Sea Dek doesn't stain from Dr. Pepper, if you look closely enough you can see it completely clean before the clip changes. I see what your saying, but no stains man. If we really wanted to hide something, not that I do that, but we'd simply edit the clip out altogether, not cover it up with a subscribe logo

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Never had an issue. If anything, no matter how tight I have gotten it, it shrinks if anything at all. Another thing to keep in mind is the temperature you install it in, which determines the expansion and contraction later down the road. Pre cut custom sea dek kits do have gaps by design but they look like they are supposed to be there. Hard to get that result with sheet material and not custom routed. But again, I've never had an issue and have boats withalmost 2 years wear on turf jobs with no issues.

    The gray with blue stripes looks nice. I'd like to redo my carpeted boat with this. But on a carpeted boat the carpet actually folds over the edge. The edges of the woods would be exposed. Also, I feel like the edges of the foam would get peeled up over time from moving from lower deck to upper deck. The only thing in your video that bothers me is applying the foam over the seat base on the bow. I expect the foam to separate from the floor around the base. I would have either cut around the base or removed it and put it back over top of the foam. Just my opinion.

      I'll get right on top of that, although I know literally no one riding around with a can of acetone in the boat. It was simply to show you can spill drinks on it without it absorbing it. Not a test of what it takes to eat through the foam with a harsh chemical. It's inside a fishing boat and does great against mold, moisture, fish blood, and beverages you drink. Common sense applies to this product.

      Interested in what product you are referring too. Boat manufacturers are using Sea Dek and Hydroturf in factory options now. Manufacturers like Xpress and Prodigy. Bigger glass boat companies like Bass Cat are implimenting it. Not to mention probably hundreds of thousands of installs in 6 figure plus boats down in Florida from authorized sea dek installers. I've never had an issue but I don't pour acetone directly on it either.

      @@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats I’m running one of those multi million dollar offshore boats and I can tell you I only have it on top of all my fish box lids and drink box lids and I play hell trying to keep it looking nice, thank god I don’t have it on my deck. I know several guys that have it on their deck and while some of them may still look nice they will tell you it was the worst decisions they made when outfitting their boat. I think the brand we have on ours is sea deck. I will say there is a big difference in flipping bass in a boat and throwing bloody yellow fin and swordfish on the deck. It also makes a big difference if the deck is wet or not when it gets dirty. If it is wet when it gets dirty it cleans up fairly easy but if you throw a a bloody fish on the deck with dry Eva foam good luck cleaning.

    Great install! However, the EVA foam is foam. It is not robust and only last for a short time. It is absolutely inexpensive material. Just don't last. Also difficult to remove. Not a fan.

      Not sure what brand you are running or the usage and storage of boat. We've been running it 4 yrs plus in boats with Hydroturf and SeaDek materials. Tournament boats. It may get some dings but beyond that, no issues. Definitely better than carpet.

      I was incorrect about EVA material. It is about more the EVA material grade or pedigree. If it is pedigree "Hydroturf" or "Seadeck" materials, then it is robust. I am doubtful if you can get raw material from Hydroturf or Seadeck? They only sell trimmed pieces or set and not cheap. However, if it is EVA material from Amazon or Ebay, it will not last. You get what you pay for. I also viewed other videos of EVA material and supports my experience. It easily scuffs especially when your shoes pick up little pebbles or something abrasive. Removal is hell and will make you cry.
