    Thank you. You ppl with your DIY videos are a blessing to those of us in the rural areas. We can't get anybody to come out here most of the time, or they charge a huge travel fee if they will. Also, I really hate paying anybody else for something I can do myself. And here I was thinking I'd have to have the window screens made...LOL

    This is so helpful. We moved from Florida to Missouri and rented in the country. Lots of windows.... Only 2 have screens. House was pretty much destroyed when we got here. Rent is cheap and we are staying and making repairs where we can. This is a blessing for us, showing how to make screens, and the improvements we make will bless the next family when we move.

    Awsome first video to actually explain why I kept bowing the frame other tutorials explain to keep the screen tight while rolling in the spline but I see now that's what was racking the frame out of place thanks :)

    Good idea to just mark the measurement with the corner pieces instead of subtracting 1 1/2 " from it

    Im going to go try this for my step-sons bedroom window. his room is extremely hot but he won't open the damn window because he's afraid of the bugs. For the next two weeks we have his friend staying with us I think the he shouldn't torture him with such a hot room .So this is my next Project !! thank you for making everything very clear I hope it comes out as well as yours.

    Where do you get your materials? Do you recommend somewhere to buy all the supplies for doing this in bulk?

    • @homemend
      @homemend  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jeorge. I use the depot. If you are a contractor buying in bulk called a “ bid room” they usually have a great discount. Also other stores in town for certain materials. Look for a new video in this soon or check out the home menders mighty network for tips

    • @homemend
      @homemend  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi ms dimples. more than likely, just make sure the frame will fit in your track.

  • @TedMattos
    @TedMattos 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Dustin, I thank you for this great tutorial. You spoke clearly and slowly and gave a lot of new information. :) You have a new subscriber!
    I do have a question, if that's okay: I currently have just a screen on the BOTTOM half of my windows (so half of the rectangle, makes them square screens, if that makes sense?); I would like to add solar screen panels, so I am thinking I'll need to make screens as you've shown.
    Once I do that, are they hard to install? Would I have to "bend" them a bit to "snap" them in? Am I making sense? I don't want to break the frames, of course, but I don't know how else I would do this? I was hoping you'd show in your video, but no such luck! :)
    Anyway, thank you for the video,
    Ted

    • @homemend
      @homemend  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi ted! thanks for the comment! i totally get where youre coming from. it sounds to me like your windows take half screens but you want to make a full screen for it? if thats the case i would create your screen but not try to fit it into your window but perhaps create a track for that as well.. i hope this helps.. the idea is working perfectly in my head...lol thanks for watching!

    • @TedMattos
      @TedMattos 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dustin, and thanks so much for commenting! :) It means a lot. Well, my windows DO have the track for a FULL screen, so I think I'm okay there. I just wasn't sure if I will need to "bend" the screen I create a bit to fit it snugly into the current track. I know I'm not making much sense, but now that I think about it, that has to be the only way to do it, I reckon. :)

    • @homemend
      @homemend  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Connie these came from Home Depot. They won’t let you just buy one screen on Amazon :-(

    How about a extra long one that have a middle cross brace?

    • @homemend
      @homemend  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Russell hi Michael! Definitely use the middle brace, that will help you keep it from Bowing while you screen it. Works the same way. Easy does it and keep it tight. You got this!

  • @rkng1

    what about the pull tabs and screen holder for holding the screen in place? The windows I need to make screens for, don't have anything to hold them in place or a way to insert and remove the screen. Thanks

    • @homemend
      @homemend  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      rkng1 hi rking. You can lay those in the track before screening if you need them. These particular screens just slide in the track and stay. Those darn tabs get too brittle within a year to function properly anyway. I hope this helps. Thanks for the comment!
