I thought I’d ask you how well your glasses fit inside the interface. My glasses are on the larger side and I can’t wear contacts.
This is not an impartial review at all, there are many things that are a bit off. For example, when you are commenting on the technical characteristics of the device you emphasize that it has more RAM than another headset, but when it comes time to comment on the CPU it has there is an uncomfortable silence, you ignore the fact that it is the CPU of the Quest 2, an outdated CPU, just in case HTC gets angry. You also do not say anything about the visual quality compared to the competition... In short, this review is quite scripted since you omit the weak points. I hope that at least HTC pays well.
Cool review, but could only handle about 1/2 of it because the music was too loud, and very distracting. Can you edit out the music and reup this? Does the headset run out of battery if playing tethered to pc?
I’m a current index owner and am thinking of buying this headset around next year (if nothing better comes out by then) I just wanna ask 1. Does the headset natively support base station tracking or would I have to stick an extra vive tracker on it 2. How does the microphone sound on the headset
This was obviously a paid review but I thought you were as fair as you probably could be, which I did appreciate. For Gods sakes next time turn down the background music.
I have a question. I believe someone already asked this, but I don’t know. What does the audio sound like? Like the mic? Could you do a video or something like that? Explain to me what it sounds like on PC. I’m not really bothered about standalone, but it could be good to know.

@@Nick-gr1rc Everything in life is a gamble. It has all the features I'm looking for, I have a Reverb G2 right now, so Fresnel lenses are not a big deal. The Quest 3 has many shortcomings. Like you can't swap the battery if you use it stand alone, the resolution is not what I would like, no eye tracking, I don't like Meta or Zuck. I've had good experiences with HTC in the past. I know what to expect and what not to expect. I'm not interested in the crystal light. VR headsets should be judged as a whole not based on one or two points. People crying that it's not OLED or have Pancake lenses clearly have no idea that these are VERY expensive parts with all this headset has packed into it. I'm fine with the price.
@@chaadlosanand I totally appreciate your judgment. I on the other side, who has had HTC Headsets meta/oculus, pimax, Apple Vision Pro, hp reverb g2, the list goes on… , disagree. Fresnel lenses, in my experience are a very bad downgrade in 2024 the best fresnel so far, as much as you dislike meta, were meta’s. Don’t get me wrong I don’t like the company, however I have to be fair. Every time I move from my g2 to the pico 4 I’m still in shock at how clear the image looks just on lenses alone. The g2 beats it in colours but my gosh what a difference the lenses make. It feels like someone removed all the oil marks from the sides. It’s a shame this review is completely one sided 😔
@@Nick-gr1rc That is alot of headsets. I have only two, the original HP Mixed Reality headset and the G2. So I will compaire the G2 to the Vision. See if their take on the lenses is any better. But for the feature set I'm looking for an the price point I'm looking for this is by FAR the best bang for the buck on the market. It would be nice to have pancake lenses. But something has to give.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the fresnel lenses. That's the deal breaker for me. I like to be able to read in VR (for both content consumption and general computing), and fresnel lenses make reading standard sized text extremely slow and headache inducing, due to having to turn your head to stay in the sweet spot.
its kind of like beating a dead horse. you can see , and everyone has mentioned they are Fresnel lenses. it's not a deal breaker for me. I'm not reading standardized text that much in a VR game. i wouldn't use this for "working in VR". i have other headsets for that.
@Q2CVRGAMER HTC paid you really well. If you do any flight simulation at all, you should know that reading fine print is essential. How can you say that you don't read anything, or that you only use your VR headset for games without much depth. 😂
Does this connect to SteamVR wirelessly and work with Index controllers and such without needing to run additional software like you would with the Quest 3 and Index controllers? I am looking for something that just natively works.
I have a few questions, as I was looking at this headset! 1. Can you connect and use over types of Steamvr compatible controllers? For example valve index or other types of Vive controllers? 2. If you own any, besides the ultimate trackers which are said to be compatible, do trackers like the 3.0 or 2.0 Vive trackers work?
asking the same question. i have ultimate's and 3.0s hope i can use index controllers. if not will need to get a dongle or struck using play space calibrator
@@VentiFBT im going off the assumption that since its steamvr, you can. If not, I'll just have to figure something out. The controllers for me arent a huge deal, but the trackers are.
One thing I will say, HTC items are sturdy, I've kicked my trackers off when I dance and slammed the wall with my vive pro, but my quest pro broke soon as I danced and sweat on it ONCE cause they have no moisture protection on the facetracking IR strips so the facetracking broke. So I pray this headset and company moisture proof or atleast add resistance to it for the people who dance/goof off ALOT in Vr
it may have inside-out tracking, but can it still work seamlessly with other laser-tracked products like the Vive 3.0 Trackers and the Valve Index controllers?
you need the open space calibrator program for that so no its not seamlessly, its the same process as wanting to use full body with a quest basically. it works good with my quest but its definitely annoying sometimes when the 2 separate play spaces desync and you gotto resync them
Very exciting and detailed explanation, exciting to watch. Many clowns casually criticize this product without using it, which is very ridiculous. I hope your video can make more people know about the greatness of focus vision Enjoy a smooth and happy VR world together
This really sounds great, I just have a few questions. I already own an Index and Quest 3 but looking for a proper wired pcvr upgrade. How are the lenses compared to Index? Because the glare in my Index is now at a point where it often bother me + I often notice the rings in the lenses doing games with a lot of light (could be wear and tear after 3 years of heavy use). And what about the vertical fov? Is it better or worse? And I assume I can use Index controllers with it via the OpenVR Space Calibrator, just like with the Quest?
If these lenses are the same as Vive Pro 2 and Focus 3 - and they look exactly the same then the glare is worse than on index and there are more problems than just glare with these lenses. Vertical FOV will be pitiful compared to Valve Index. Even after all these years valve index has the highest vertical FOV of all headsets.
This likely uses the same lenses and panels as the Vive Focus 3 and Vive Pro 2. The sweet spot is narrow. The image quality is inferior to current models, but since it supports full-body tracking and face tracking all in one, it's a good option for communication-focused games like VRChat.
I have the vive pro 2, only thing that this has that i am "WOW" factored about is the internal eye tacking so you don't have to tweak the damn lenses every time you put the SOB on. Will probably wait and see if it's worth the upgrade. great presentation.
@@crimmy0204 O no, the one i bought i had returned to factory in less than a year had weird red green hues in one of the lenses, the one they sent has a tiny lil luminous speck that is probably supposed to be in my blind spot but as humans we eye scan but disappears when i play games so not a big deal but yes i a leery about getting another one. I'll wait for the first round of consumers
I have Quest Pro which that has same price point too now. Quest Pro wins in some points compared to this. Quest Pro is still the king in face tracking (VRChat) and processing unit is same too. It's just weird for 2024 headset to have older hardware compared to Q3, Q3S and Pico4 Ultra. This will a problem for future games together with MR side. It will quite limit the possibilities in gaming area for HTC headset as standalone. And you still need buy front tracking unit. That is a $99 / 129 EUR unit. Fresnel lenses have some advantages, but it has also own problems. The sweet spot is smaller and edge to edge sharpness is lower than pancake in Q3 and QPro. So yeah, this HTC has some big cons for 2024. If it was released earlier together with QPro, then HTC was better choice. Now it's kinda late together with old hardware, because we found the good use of Quest Pro. If you use it for PCVR okay, but you still pay for "older gen" standalone part too. Controllers of QPro and Q3/3S are ringless. It's weird to see here controllers with rings. Pico4 Ultra is on right way with ringless controllers for 2024. Not really problem overall, but i use hands a lot in VRChat and ringless is a big plus.
i seen this the other day, not bad price in comparison the quest3. looks like a quality piece of kit, is it worth getting one Todd if i have the quest3 and psvr2
If you have a quest 3, and enjoy the pcvr experience, I'd say not really. Although it is super comfy and will be my pcvr headset the quest 3 can do close to the same job. I just like having a pcvr headset always ready to go. This is wireless and wired pcvr. I have tried my psvr2 with pcvr yet.
@@Q2CVRGAMER it looks super sleek in design, Meta should take note of this instead of using a jock strap, i wouldnt mind spending a little more money if you going to end up with a whole unit like that because you going to spend X amount of money anyway for a new strap
@IDeVaToX yea, HTC straps are normally better. Even on my XR Elite, when they upgraded the strap, they sent them out for free. Never had a comfort problem with any of my HTC headsets
Hey could you please tell me do you know can it work with the old index controllers? I'd also like to note I have the original 1.0 basestations that came with the htc vive back in the day and would be trying to use them.
The Focus Vision has no photodiodes, so it cannot use Lighthouses for tracking. If you wanted to use it with devices that DO use Lighthouses for tracking, you'd need to use OpenVR Space Calibrator and regularly re-calibrate so the controller's location relative to the headset is correct.
How would this compare to the XR Elite? Yes, i know this has higher resolution but fresnel lenses. I currently have the XR Elite and my fristrations with PC gaming is that i have to keep it charged and fiddly with using bluetooth earbuds - i have a dongle but only supports power passthrough, not data. The front USB is recessed too far to be usable.
I don't have an xr elite, i have used one a few times at different conventions, but i was not a big fan of the comfort. it hurt to wear for longer that 30 mins as time. I ran a VR booth in Phoenix that had one in rotation for people to try, and that was the #1 response to using it. uncomfortable.
You forgot to mention that the Beyond uses Micro-OLED screens that are on another league compared to the HTC simple LCDs (not even QLED with any local dimming). I'm waiting for a Beyond but will maybe also give a try to the HTC using Amazon trial period.
@@need7135 Sorry to hear that. I'm waiting for mine to be delivered and hope I'll keep it along the Pimax Crystal Light I already have, that is great for visuals but it's really uncomfortable for long sessions, especially in racing sims with a motion platform. I don't think I'm gonna get the Vive Focus, I'm afraid it'll have just the defects of the two headset I (will) have: heavy and not so great visuals. Not to mention that I'm just on PCVR and don't care about standalone and all its gimmicks for VRchat addicts, like face tracking and stuff.
Is this an upgrade from Vive XR Elite? Vive XR is not that great. Does this connect wirelessly to Steam VR and if so does it work good. Vive XR does not work that well wirelessly at least in my system.
well the headset doesn't need base stations, but if you had index controllers and base stations they should work. (they connect to steam on their own) ... i think. they wont work with stand alone games though.
Hey everyone, Q2C is removing vital information about the visuals . He does not mention the headset has fresnel lenses which is very bad for the visual quality on vr headsets. Most new headsets now use pancake lenses which dramatically improve clarity. The difference is night and day. Q2C forgets to mention that the big screen beyond has deeper blacks with more vibrant colours due to the micro oled display and only mentions the negatives thus not making a fair comparison. I think he has had some form of influence from HTC. Please wait for more fair reviews. I wasn’t sure if I should buy this headset but Q2C is missing out a lot of information making people who know about vr even more confused. Q2C i understand you may need support to keep your channel going and thus you may be getting support from htc. I think it would be more appreciated if you inform your followers from the start you have had influence from htc before providing a review.
I love the video. The only thing is i just realized there's only 1 usb type c port on the headset so what if i wanna use the facial tracker with the vive ultimates what am i supposed to do then i mean im still gonna buy it but i just winder that
I would like to know how much "face mask" this does. That vive xr elite thing was IMPOSSIBLE to wear with how hard it needed to squeeze my head to stay on
I'm just noticing..... why does this look eerily like the Valve Deckard? The Silhouette looks awfully like the patients from Valve... probably not but still
With pancake lenses and OLED it would be worth $999. But LCD and Fresno lenses. Why even bother when you can get a Quest 3 for so less than half the price. HTC seems to be detached from the VR industry
Really wanted to look at this, but having background music made me stop watching and write this instead! 😔 No music please, people are not watching reviews to listen to music
What is expected of a person testing equipment is his own experience, not that he mindlessly reads a specification text. This headset is bad, having a snapdragon XR2 Gen 1 chip like the Q2 and Fresnel lenses in 2024 is the most prohibitive. For half the price a Q3 does a thousand times better even in pcvr, and if you really want an HTC get a second hand Vive pro 2 for half the price, and you will have the same specifications.
Because the standalone is an addon, the whole point of this headset is wired PCVR. His review goes over that repeatedly. You won't even use the Snapdragon XR2 processor if you're wired.
did anyone else notice that there was a filter going off on his eyes at 02:20 - 02:42 [more throw-out the video but that's when i first noticed it lol]
Why is HTC doing all these (presumably) paid promotions masquading as reviews? Why dont any of the much bigger VR youtubers get these headests ... its actively putting me off the headset.

I’m a current index owner and am thinking of buying this headset around next year (if nothing better comes out by then)
I just wanna ask
1. Does the headset natively support base station tracking or would I have to stick an extra vive tracker on it
2. How does the microphone sound on the headset
No it's inside out tracking. No need for base stations like the index. And I haven't recorded on the mic yet. Maybe this weekend
@@Q2CVRGAMER Ahh okay, thank you
This was obviously a paid review but I thought you were as fair as you probably could be, which I did appreciate. For Gods sakes next time turn down the background music.
Fully agree
I have a question. I believe someone already asked this, but I don’t know. What does the audio sound like? Like the mic? Could you do a video or something like that? Explain to me what it sounds like on PC. I’m not really bothered about standalone, but it could be good to know.
Bigscreen beyond has pancake lenses, but visually how does it compare to it? Which one did you like seeing through more?
Is it compatible w Index Controller?
why didnt you talk about the lenses? is it not as big of an issue as it is on paper?
Could you do a mic test next time so I could understand what it sounds like on standalone including PC thank you
Good video turn down the music and find something a little less bassy. I ordered this, can't wait to get it.
Noted!
I would have waited man, this review has removed so much vital information. He possibly has been paid by HTC for the review. Remember htc may refund the product if you are not happy but will not pay for the return fees.
I am looking for something that just natively works.
is this VR competitive ready ?
Uff, music in the background is overwhelming and loud. Video information is good.
I am tempted because of the DP!!
Just waiting to hear a quality difference in the mic from index or other headsets to this one.
I have a few questions, as I was looking at this headset!
1. Can you connect and use over types of Steamvr compatible controllers? For example valve index or other types of Vive controllers?
2. If you own any, besides the ultimate trackers which are said to be compatible, do trackers like the 3.0 or 2.0 Vive trackers work?
asking the same question. i have ultimate's and 3.0s
hope i can use index controllers. if not will need to get a dongle or struck using play space calibrator
@@VentiFBT im going off the assumption that since its steamvr, you can. If not, I'll just have to figure something out. The controllers for me arent a huge deal, but the trackers are.
Hey Thanks ! Can we play games like dbz sparking on it ?! Or is it steam compliant only ?
Thanks
So how is the sweetspot?Colors?Brightness? How is the tracking?Glare?
A VR headset review where the reviewer doesn't say nothing about the most important things in a VR headset. SHAME!!!! 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
I hope your video can make more people know about the greatness of focus vision
Enjoy a smooth and happy VR world together
When using the DisplayPort adaptor, is the headset mains-powered?
Did you get it from the preorder or was it sent to you to promote early?
This was sent to me about a month ago. They just had us sit on the videos until today.
Then is better to wait to independent reviews and through the lenses footage
Does it have a screen door effect? Be honest.
of course, its fresnel lenses. But it didn't bother me on the index, and didn't bother me on this headset either.
Most Obvious paid review I've ever seen, im pretty sure you're suppose to disclose that information or you can get your account shut down.
Hello buddy just one quick question what is the clarity like and sweet spot?
I have the vive pro 2, only thing that this has that i am "WOW" factored about is the internal eye tacking so you don't have to tweak the damn lenses every time you put the SOB on. Will probably wait and see if it's worth the upgrade. great presentation.
your vive pro2's arnt defective like the 3 I've owned weird.
I never go by FOV on paper.. it's better if you get a program to measure it yourself then compare the measurements between headsets.
I have a 7900xt AMD Reference card with the USB-C virtual link. Can I just plug the headset straight into there without the need for the other cables?
I'd like to have this, just for MSFS 2024. Its gonna be amazing.
Nice review!
Thank you! Cheers!
You forgot to mention that the Beyond uses Micro-OLED screens that are on another league compared to the HTC simple LCDs (not even QLED with any local dimming). I'm waiting for a Beyond but will maybe also give a try to the HTC using Amazon trial period.
I own a beyond and had a pretty awful experience but if you would like I can give you my opinion when I receive my focus vision.
Can you play PC game wirelessly similar to Quest 3 and the Steam link app?
Yes you can!
Is this an upgrade from Vive XR Elite? Vive XR is not that great. Does this connect wirelessly to Steam VR and if so does it work good. Vive XR does not work that well wirelessly at least in my system.
It's an update from the Vive Focus 3. Which had the right form factor but needed updated internals.
❤
Any idea if this can somehow work with base stations?
well the headset doesn't need base stations, but if you had index controllers and base stations they should work. (they connect to steam on their own) ... i think.
they wont work with stand alone games though.
@@Q2CVRGAMER awesomes tyy
I enjoyed the video and review, but the music is just too loud and distracting.
I totally agree. Nothing about sweet spot or glare. Nothing about the lenses. I think htc is watching the review...
did anyone else notice the eyes? that nvidia eye contact filter looks funny lmao
I love the video. The only thing is i just realized there's only 1 usb type c port on the headset so what if i wanna use the facial tracker with the vive ultimates what am i supposed to do then i mean im still gonna buy it but i just winder that
Racial tracker just sounds bad. LOL (Sure you meant facial-but the mental picture of the other brings chuckles)
@williamcalderini6370 OMG💀😭 LMAO bruh I type to fast and i don't look over what i ment lmao😭
turn up that music bro I can barely hear it
Will do on the next one. 😉
It's not US$999 if you buy the facial tracker and 5x vive ultimate trackers, tho'...
turn music off please .
I would like to know how much "face mask" this does. That vive xr elite thing was IMPOSSIBLE to wear with how hard it needed to squeeze my head to stay on
I kept clicking through, hoping to find the point where the music stopped.
Video was helpful, but the music is way too loud man shouldn’t have added it
Cool 😎
Hate the music and the stock HTC footage is irritating because it's a commercial and not a product review.
I'm just noticing..... why does this look eerily like the Valve Deckard?
The Silhouette looks awfully like the patients from Valve... probably not but still
didn't need the loud generic music
I would have bought this, but with fresnel lenses, I have to pass.
With pancake lenses and OLED it would be worth $999. But LCD and Fresno lenses. Why even bother when you can get a Quest 3 for so less than half the price. HTC seems to be detached from the VR industry
Htc has failed with headsets. I'm hoping they figured this one out, but idk about 90hz..
@@zaruba4291 bro it will go up to 120hz before the end of the year
Imagine if Meta introduced a $1000 headset with fresnel lenses? The gnashing of teeth and rending of garments would never cease.
this is so true.
My God, please ... KILL the music loop in the background ... Totally unnecessary, and the most annoying thing in the World, thanks!
Really wanted to look at this, but having background music made me stop watching and write this instead! 😔
No music please, people are not watching reviews to listen to music
i think u should make it clearer that this is sponsored no?
If you're gonna rap you gotta stay with the beat. If you're not trying to rap... you gotta turn that music down.
That was hilarious 🤣
What is expected of a person testing equipment is his own experience, not that he mindlessly reads a specification text. This headset is bad, having a snapdragon XR2 Gen 1 chip like the Q2 and Fresnel lenses in 2024 is the most prohibitive. For half the price a Q3 does a thousand times better even in pcvr, and if you really want an HTC get a second hand Vive pro 2 for half the price, and you will have the same specifications.
Why does this exist, it's basically a quest 2 with eye tracking?
Because the standalone is an addon, the whole point of this headset is wired PCVR. His review goes over that repeatedly. You won't even use the Snapdragon XR2 processor if you're wired.
did anyone else notice that there was a filter going off on his eyes at 02:20 - 02:42 [more throw-out the video but that's when i first noticed it lol]
lol i use the eye filter on Nvidia broadcast during out podcast, and didnt realize i left it on during this recording. tee hee.
Why no cakes 😢
No oled and no pancakes... something is always missing. Never can one device just have it all 😭
Why is HTC doing all these (presumably) paid promotions masquading as reviews? Why dont any of the much bigger VR youtubers get these headests ... its actively putting me off the headset.
its clearly marked as a promotional video, no one is hiding the fact that these videos are paid for. Doesn't mean what i said wasn't true.😉
Please turn that music down
Bro turn the music down
Music to loud
Loud music, gave up trying to listen after 45s.
Fresnel lenses + LCD + high price = No Thanks
Auto IPD + eye tracking, FBT support, standalone + PCVR (display port), awesome audio, comfort ... = yes please.
What is fbt support?.
Q2c, please, what about sweet spot?.
I had a reverb g2 and now a quest 3.
Which of the two does it look more like?. Thanks a lot.
The music turn it off
I'll crank it for ya next time 😄
That bloody music........ watched with sound off and subs lol....... just about......
