The first hub that was difficult to remove. If u heat the hub directly over the keyway. It will come off much easier. So heat the entire hub, then while trying to remove focus the heat at the keyway. 20 years+ experience in heavy equipment.

Why didn’t you clean the join area before resurfacing the holes. Nice the diameter is oval because of all the crap that was in the join.

when you put that yellow coupling back on heat it up to about 300 degree and then it will have expanded by 0.00000654 inches per degree.
Calculate .00000654 times 6 inches times 200 degrees hotter than workshop temp = .007 or seven thousands expansion.
If workshop is 70 degrees then heating the coupling to 400 degrees would make its bore expand by 11 thou and it would just slide on.
That guy with the sack is very brave!
The lathe in the second part looks like a well-kept machine.

I used to make the parts to go in these gearboxes - shaft grinding case drilling, etc.
No surface prep not even a degrease. Straight over he top oof impur? Bodge job right there

I think the gearbox is a copy of a Fuller-Traylor unit. I am actually watching this as prep in-case we have to rebuild ours... If you are using units like this, make sure the oil is THICK. Don't try using low viscosity oil or you'll be getting some new and exciting growls from it.

Now I'm older, my back can not take being stooped over for long periods like many of them.
They either weld with no mask or have to hold it on by hand damn get a real shield.
Whatever machine that booms going on will be severely overloaded.
You forgot the jetway on assembly.

There is a reason to use a proper sized key-way instead of a bolt. It helps keep things aligned under load so as not to cause the damage these guys have just spend days fixing.

Why aren’t your people wearing safety boots?
They do wear safety flip-flops.
A few days ago, we copied a cast-iron welding procedure from one of these videos (pile of burning charcoal, borax, gas-welding with cast-iron filler material). Worked great despite us not being able to find the safety sandals or robes for the job. We also deviated from procedure by using a dead wheel-barrow shell as the basis for the furnace.

Just a bit of grease on one end of the rollers. Grease is expensive. It will not be re-greased until it seizes up again.
Even the silicone sealant, they only put a bit near the center. The gears do not seem lubricated very much.
They did not clean the mating surfaces of the two halves before bolting them together and machining, there is dirt in between them.
The shop is a mess. Junk everywhere on the floor. A mountain of chips sitting in the middle.
