These are the types of machines I saw, every day, when I worked in a machine shop during the 70's. I haven't been back for over fifty years, but I doubt that there are many machines, like these, still on the floor. Everything is computerized; sadly, the skill and experience of the machinist is diminished. Nice work, btw.
Excuse me, but when you settle a housing on its rough outer surface and machine the base, you obtain different center heights from part to part. Bearing housings made in this way are unusable because the shaft won't be parallel to the base plane. You absolutely need to clamp a housing on its borehole to obtain equal center heights which is essential for bearing housings. This is most easily and most precisely done clamping the parts on a 3 cam chuck fixed on a horizontal milling machine
Well considering the 100 year of machines and conditions WHY don't you see how you get on using the same? It is easy to spout off be could you achieve in the same environment using same? Likely not 😂
@@BobBobbler-o1y I would apply the right method even on a 500 year old machine, it's not about the age or condition of the machinery. It-s about understanding the basics.
@@BobBobbler-o1y None of this equipment is bad equipment, you will find many shops in modern first world nations use the same types of manual machines that are often just as old or older. The difference is that they are well cared for by the actual machinists who use them and the procedures they follow are proper and efficient. The equipment shown in these videos is not the problem, I would love to have many of these machines and I often turn out far better work with much much less.
At 36.32, the turner is machining a material that appears to be TUFNOL, If so, it is very hazardous, because certain brands of this material contain ASBESTOS.
Max 20€ for safety shoes. ones per year, and 6€ for safety gloves, twicw per year. To show me that you care about your workers. Nothing else. And, when you use scrap metal, clean it, please. With this two changings you will be much better workshop. You have the skill, but, you still have the discipline.
I think this is true and can be work for no purpose for a lot of videos, especially when like this group, we never see a finished item or final assembly.
As the Channel Disclaimer says Hydraulic hands doesn't own this workshop or any other, I Confess HH makes money from videos, workshop makes money from their repairs and manufactures. on that note i would say the video is for enterntaintment.
HH has no control or command over any workshop worker, I just make machining videos and this workshop owner is kind enough to allow me to shoot for my channel in their workshop

Glad to see him wearing his flowing dress to work on a lathe! 😂....they'll always be busy because they turn out garbage which will need repairing again soon....no pride, no expertise, no good.
I have a lot of respect for these craftsmen.
They are doing a heck of a job.
Antoine.
Glad you liked it
As if each and every single person knows their craft. Technically compitent craftsmen.

Gente humilde e ingeniosa, da gusto verles trabajar, que ala os guarde.

Kudos for the entertainment aspect and earning is the end result I only hope the workers are benefiting for their participation

It amazes me how in every one of these back yard hack shops they find it necessary to throw machined parts on the dirt floor!
7:37 we got us some deep crack hand drilling !
Fantastic welding skills
Great machinist

do you need to heat treat the gears when you finish the repairs
How strong is the welding material?
This video is for entertainment only. The repair is not ment to work. They make money by selling video not from repairing the worn out parts.

I’m surprised they didn’t just weld up that broken bearing housing.
