What's the highest amount of han you've ever achieved and how much of the score came from Dora? Lemme know in the replies! (Mine is 19 han with Dora 10 btw)
Funny thing. Highest I ever got was when they had a collab with Saki. I luckily got Teru during the collab, and my first Yakuman with her was Chuuren Poutou. I was shaking when I got that XD
My dude is good at the three things I want to master, Japanese which I'm decent at, 3d Animation (I recall on a video you said you work with that, I kind of wanted to as well but it's a risky profession where I live T_T) and Mahjong which I'm into now since I've learned how to play Shogi and KoiKoi to a good level Quite jealous, ngl xD Great content my man, keep it up!
Glad to find others have very similar interests to me! And don't worry man, it's nothing to get jealous about because you'll also get there one day! One step at a time! :D
Any tile is able to become the dora, whatever the indicator shows, the next tile is dora. . If the dora indicator shows 4, both your 5s will be the dora.
I really wamt more guides on which yakuman can be practical. I avoid calling riichi because i never draw the damn tile and i prefer the flexibility of discarding anything i want
Thanks for the comment! I'll get to guides for those eventually, but the short answer is: 1. Which yakumans are practical None (unless you are like 2-3 tiles away to begin with or have nothing to lose and all to gain) 2. Riichi has a 40% success rate, making it the highest chance of winning in the game. The reason you're not getting the tile is not actually 100% due to luck, but more likely that you're not calculating which tiles to discard/keep to make more tiles available. This is called "discard efficiency" ^^
@@JouzuJuls also do you think calling riichi with a tenpai but without a pair (waiting on a pair of that particular tile) is better than calling riichi with 2/3 ready thing (two consecutive tiles or two identical tiles) given that respective winning tiles are not yet in discard?.. I know that you're less likely to get a 2nd tile if you already know where the first one is. But i also heard that it's impossible to defend against someone waiting on a pair of tiles
@@sakesaurus There's a ranking of good to bad "waits" What you're referring to (waiting the pair) is called "Tanki" and is one of the worst waits, but has the advantage of, as you said, being impossible to defend. The best wait you should always try to aim for is "Ryanmen" which I talked about in this video here: th-cam.com/video/U1d1xk668to/w-d-xo.html There are actually such things as "compound shapes" too, like 2 ryanmens together will give you a 3 tile wait called "sanmenchan" The basic ranking is (1 being best) 1. Ryanmen (2 face) 2. Shanpon (waiting 2 tiles to complete triplet) 3. Kanchan (middle wait) 4. Penchan (Edge wait) 5. Tanki (Pair wait) You can learn more about waits from riichi.wiki/Machi !

Thank you, I've wondered about the Red 5s and what happens with them as Dora.
Is any tile in your hand able to be the dora? For example if there was a 4 in the center and I had two 5s as my pair, would they benefit?
