  • So very often we link in an MEP Revit file and all their ducts are a different color: Blue Supply Air, Magenta Return air, Green Exhaust, etc. And all their pipes are colored too...Domestic Chilled Water, Hot water, Fire Suppression system, etc.
So how do we change them to be all BLACK.. so they look and print correctly?
This Revit Tip will show you how.

Set you links to underlay in you view and you will have pretty much the same effect in just 3 clicks

Absolutely right! It bugs me to no end when someone jumps through hoops to overcomplicate a simple process.

Thanks so much! I knew there was a quick way to do it with filters but it was somewhat tough on my own. no more crazy colors!

Hi Mike. I have a question regarding column-beam-plaster issue and what template (architecture or structure) to use to get the best use (or practices) of revit modelling for accurate take off & etc.
Thank you if this can be explained in a video 🙏

You could filter workset and not worry about what's in linked file

Mike, what if I wanted to just filter out the waterlines in a plumbing plan, the filter will do pipes, but is there a way to just filter out the water pipes?

You can setup the filter so it targets pipe by it system. That's how we color our pipes in MEP plans. The set up is -> filter -> pipes, pipe fittings, pipe insulation -> System type - equals - SW (for example). SW is the name of the system type of the Sewage water. If you dont know what the system is just click on the pipe and find it in the properties ( System type). You can use bascily any of the system parameter -> System type, System Name, System abbreviation to target that system specifically. The filter will color even if the pipes are from a linked file.
