Design Options: Demystified
There are many times we need to view 2 (or more) ideas in our designs. Design Options allows you to see them both.. and then hopefully decide on one and move forward.
This Revit Tip will show you the simplest way to use Design Options. There are other aspects to Design Options, but this video is the basics.

RESTORING A BACKUP: Non-Central, Worksharing files, and BIM360
มุมมอง 2.5Kปีที่แล้ว
There are many reasons why you would need to restore a backup of a Revit file. Sometimes you will be working with a Non-Worksharing file, sometimes with a Worksharing file (Central/Local) and sometimes on BIM360... but this Revit Tip will help guide you to restoring a backup regardless of the file type and location. If your company needs BIM/Revit Assistance.. you can get help without hiring an...
SLOPED CEILINGS: Match roof slope or coffer a ceiling

Sloped ceilings are common in residential construction and yet some people don't know how to implement them. This video will show you how to slope a ceiling and also how to create a coffered ceiling with downlights. Change MEP colored Ducts (and pipes, etc.) to Black
มุมมอง 5Kปีที่แล้ว
So very often we link in an MEP Revit file and all their ducts are a different color: Blue Supply Air, Magenta Return air, Green Exhaust, etc. And all their pipes are colored too...Domestic Chilled Water, Hot water, Fire Suppression system, etc. So how do we change them to be all BLACK.. so they look and print correctly? This Revit Tip will show you how. If your company needs BIM/Revit Assistan...
SIGNAGE: Create, Place and Schedule (with Automatic Room Names)
มุมมอง 3.3Kปีที่แล้ว
Signage can be a real bear to deal with in Revit if you go totally manual. But if you use the right parameters, and a little bit of family know-how, you can get your schedules to report the Room Names and Numbers. This can save tons of time when things change... (you notice I didn't say IF things change, haha). If your company needs BIM/Revit Assistance.. you can get help without hiring an in-h...
WAREHOUSE CONCEPT vs Bloated Template
มุมมอง 2.1Kปีที่แล้ว
As we add our 'favorite' items to our templates.. they can quickly grow to an unmanageable size. This concept of using a 'Warehouse' file can dramatically reduce the template size, and thus help your projects start as small as possible. Give it a try. If your company needs BIM/Revit Assistance.. you can get help without hiring an in-house BIM Manager. A virtual BIM Manager (me) means you and yo...

FLIP ARROWS vs SPACE BAR: And how they work together
มุมมอง 2.3Kปีที่แล้ว
Flip arrows are a very handy feature in Revit. They can quickly flip a family Left/Right or Front/Back so you don't have to use Mirror. They work in conjunction with the Space Bar also... which means, the Space Bar activates them if they are present. This Revit Tip shows how to add them and how they work. I FOUND A 'GLITCH' IN REVIT: Draw order matters - Go Figure!
มุมมอง 1.8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Apparently in Revit, you can't draw any NEW WALLS before you draw the EXISTING WALLS. They interfere. The Existing plan will show gaps where the walls overlap even though technically the new walls don't even exist yet. Yep.. it's a glitch. But there is a way to fix it if it happens to you in your project. This Revit Tip will explain. If your company needs BIM/Revit Assistance.. you can get help...
BIM360: Which files update when I save, sync, publish, package, and consume?
มุมมอง 3.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Lot's of confusion here... so this Revit Tip is intended to dispel some rumors and clear up some misconceptions. Hello sir, thank you for the very helpful video. i'd like to ask you if there is a known way to restore the back up file deleted by revit . what i mean is , if the maximum is 3 backup files, and the folder contains 5 backup files, then Revit deletes the oldest 2 backup files, and is there a way to restore those files. Thanks

If you make the total number a type parameter, I imagine you only get to change it at one place.

Thanks for a really good explanation. I did what you should not…it would be nice if someone did a flow diagram of the process. Probably not needed after your explanation. Insertion points are my next worry. I am doing a piping drawing and have been asked to upload my drawing to bim 360, so how do I fix the insertion point?

I know this video isn't technically about positioning your links as you bring them into revit, but ive been having difficulty deciding which Positioning option to choose to get my links to align as well as yours did. I've heard varying opinions on which positioning to use, but wanted to know your thoughts? I saw you used Origin to Origin and the links lined up exactly the way they were supposed to, but i've had issues duplicating this. Is it a Survey point issue? is it the way you lined up your initial "workset 1". Would love any insight here as a new Revit-er that has been tasked to find the most efficient way to line up newly linked Revit links into a project.

Will the sheets in a linked consultant model be manageable in the primary model's Project Browser?, and will Revit create Sheet List(s) from linked consultant models?

I need Labels to show on plan for a face-based family. Do you have a solution for that Mike? Currently, you can only do it for wall-based. Example is a Wall Sconce with an LT-31 Label that populates based off of the Type Mark Parameter of the light. Revit won't let me load in Generic Annotations into that "Front" view of a face-based family

it is not helpful since it also slopes the structural slab which is not correct , we usually only need to slope (parts) which is the top layers above the structural slab and in our office we just use annotation arrows to indicate where the surface slopes to the drainage point
