    Smaller plates work of course but also eat slowly. Don't be in a rush to clean your plate. You will feel fuller.
    Replace some of your main meal portion with a fruit. I tend to eat a lot of fruits by itself but I try to always eat a piece of fruit with every meal. Also I noticed I don't gain any weight from eating fruits.

      I always count my calories, very easy to do and I always get the results I want. It's the only way to be absolutely sure you are in a calorie deficit or maintaining or surplus etc... whatever you are trying to do. I have seen plenty of people gain weight on all the diets out there. It doesn't matter what you eat, if you are eating too many calories, you will gain weight, and if you have no idea how many calories you are eating, you are going at it blind.

  • @LegoSwordViedos
    @LegoSwordViedos 7 ปีที่แล้ว +34

    I honestly just drink more water and run and swim more when I notice myself getting a bit more on the chubby side, and just make an effort to eat less. And all I do is do as much as I want, even if I want to eat a big meal after a work out I'll just go and do it, because it's what I want to do, but what matters is what your trying to do in the long run, and just realize, you will not get what you want without pain and work. If I eat a meal, I know as I eat it I'm going to have to burn all that energy off in one way or another, the key for me is to do what I can to make the journey less painful in the end. You have to make parts fun and you have to try to enjoy yourself, or you will quit, or your life will feel like it sucks. And your end goal is to loose weight, and if you quit because you get burned out then you fail then all your hard work is for nothing, I don't want that and you don't want that. Now I'm not saying this is liberty to just eat unhealthy all the time while you work out, but it's all about finding balance that is right for YOU, I have managed to loose weight even when eating a lot and not watching much about what I eat, I have done it, but it takes you alot longer to see results, and know results don't come fast, don't expect them too, this is all about being the turtle and not the hair in the race, your slimmer body will always be there waiting, it doesn't matter how fast you get there, just that you persist over the long term because that is the key and how I've always got what I want, is to persist in small ways continually and not giving up. But over time if you are working out you will likely try eating less, because if you work hard to burn off calories you will be reminded of the pain when you eat. And just respond to that motivation. And for me I see it as one of two options, there is the pain of shame, being fat, and there is the pain of hard work too loose weight. And just remember make it as fun as you can, listen to music as you run or walk, use your imagination as you swim, think about how nice it will be to just look and feel a bit healthier a week or month from now.

    From my experience, another advice I would give to evryone is IDENTIFY YOUR BAD FOOD COMPULSIONS. for me: Bread. I ate, before I noticed it, an entire Baguette a day. without EVER noticing it, until one bro told me "hey, are you actually consuming that much?"... and the answer was yes.
    One food addiction at a time, try to supress all of your bad treats and go for healthier ones, every time you want this delicious piece of croissant... go for your favorite Fruit instead. its hard, so try to go slowly, exactly as picture fit said,

    #4 was complete fatlogic.
    The biggest loser contestants gained weight back because they weren't taught how to diet & exercise properly, and because the underlying emotional reasons which fueled their overeating were not addressed. The amount of exercise the biggest loser contestants underwent, as well as the strict diets, do not fit into a normal persons life. They could not maintain that diet and that level of exercise once they returned to their lives.
    The biggest loser contestants experienced a BMR drop do to the weight loss, not do to the extreme diet & exercise. You require far fewer calories to function when you're caring around 100 fewer pounds.
    The "starvation mode" myth is by far one of the most destructive myths in the diet & fitness industry, and you're perpetuating it.

    • @PictureFit
      @PictureFit  7 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      I would agree with you if it wasn't for the study that actually calculated their BMR and found it significantly lower than the average person's BMR at that same weight. An extreme or chronic rate of catabolism will cause a drastic shift in your BMR. Your body's goal is to find a balance. At a point in which you're pushing so far away from what is considered "balanced" to your body with the added weight, the logical response to to go against the shift.
      Diet and exercising "properly" will require a much more steady and controlled approach. A one way dip isn't proper and your body will respond accordingly. Even if one were to do such an extreme method such as the people on Biggest Loser, they are still able to create a balance of BMR similar to average if they were to slowly feed the body back into a more appropriate balance. Unfortunately, they weren't given that information.

    There are a lot technical mistakes that can be done in terms of nutrition and exercise, however lack of motivation seems like the biggest problem to me.
    I find it one of my biggest mistakes to underestimate the importance of motivation in the weight loss journey and that is one of the reasons of why I failed to lose weight before. In the past, I was imagining weight loss like 50% nutrition and 50% exercise however I forgot about motivation altogether. However, motivation should have had a high percentage in this game.
    We mentioned it in a recent video where we were discussing my weight loss mistakes (I had a lot of them). I started trying to lose weight and we are planning to document every step I take on our channel. I hope that will work for motivation.

    Weight loss mistakes I’ve made:
    Disorganized workout program
    Extreme dieting (cutting calories too low and too fast + extreme cardio)
    Being too hard on myself and not recognizing how far I have come
    What I am doing now:
    Doing a very slight cut while lifting more to gain muscle while losing fat.
    Giving myself credit so that I can know how far I’ve come + more motivation
    More organized workout program

    Well, in 46 days I lost 10 kilos (95 from 105) while looking more muscular and increasing my performance at the gym.
    The results were kind of fast (and constant throughout the whole period) but I put in a great amount of hard work and preparation in bed, kitchen and gym.
    Thanks for your great help PictureFit, your videos kept me well-informed and motivated!

    1. -- Whilst caloric intake is a big component, a far greater one, is leptin resistance, and improper regulation with ghrelin as well. Dr. Jason Fung outlines this in his book "The Obesity Code", IF, (intermittent fasting), is meant to not only assist with both of those hormones, but keep your base metabolic rate stable. If you simply restrict calories, your body will adjust to that, and it may even permanently lower your BMR; Restriction of calories is simply not the only answer. (You brought up "The Biggest Loser" as well, mentioning BMR, but never clarified this in your first point).
    3. -- HIIT is one of the best exercises for fat loss, but it's also important to mention that weight lifting can also do the same, albeit at a slower pace, but overall, unless you just want to be completely lean, lifting weights is far better than cardio. And if you do HIIT, there's talk in the lifting circle that because of how taxing it is on your body, it can hinder your gains.
    Overall I like your points and simplicity as I can tell this is geared towards novices, but it does help to include those aforementioned caveats. Due to them being rather pertinent to the subject matter being presented.

    This made me emotional because I too struggle with losing weight. I can't tell you how many times I cry myself to sleep because nothing. Is. Working. I work my butt off and nothing happens and then there's all my friends who can eat 1363717738272 calories and not even gain an ounce. It's so so so so so hard to lose weight. It's beyond a struggle that I battle every hour of the day

      Rachel Ross I completely agree with you. I struggle every single day to get up without food being on my mind. It's like I constantly think about it. And that it's me VS food. It's a terrible way to live but I don't even know how to stop. I'm 23 going on 24 and this is the first time in my life that I am overweight AND out of shape. I may have to work out twice a day and eat smaller meals through out the day for more results

    • @megaprimegamer1184
      @megaprimegamer1184 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only true way for fat loss is lower calorie intake and weight training. You balance your nutrient intake and eat carefully below how much your body needs.
      I love doing this. Have two meals a day. Pre workout and post workout. Pre workout has all my carbs and half my protein. Now I have energy to gym. Finish workout. Come back. Eat fats. Peanuts, peanut butter, cheese and protein. All in moderation. The second meal doesn’t have to make you feel full. Just eat enough so that your hunger goes away cause fats are calorie rich. And then just sleep as much.
      I tend to eat my first meal around 2 cause personally I find it easy to control hunger in the mornings. ( I wake at 11am and sleep at 3am) and pls remember everything you put in your mouth counts as meal. This way I even eat ice cream and some chocolate once in a while but immediately after my meal and it doesn’t really affect my fat loss. All this lower food intake burns body fat and muscle so when you gym, it counteracts the muscle part and retains muscle and only burns fat. Just lift what you can.

      Like u can eat anything and lose weight...u jist trained ur stomach to eat more than u should...and instead of eating to stop feeling hungry u eat to get full!
      Why not each day eat less? Like leaving 1 bite...then two bites...3...instead of eating a small portion cold turkey. Bcuz ull suffer AND gain weoght back in a few months! Dont torture urself...just train ur tummy slowly....so ur tummy gets to its smaller size. Then when u try to eat like ur old habit u cant bcu lz ur tummy got small again AND u wont gain back ur weight again in a few months. Eventually try to not eat fried food ya know? And eat more veggies.

      You know what's good? If you're doing resistance exercises, as lifting weights, there's a good chance that you're getting THICC in all the nice parts, and that's pretty hard to do for someone without some extra pounds. So, don't rush it! Eat enough protein, don't starve yourself, stretch and keep exercising, sleep well and you'll keep your result without losing those desired gains.

I ate lots of fruits and veggies; I quit white bread and white rice; I ate eggs; I ate greek yogurt; I ate oatmeal; I ate homemade soup with healthy veggies; no junk food with msg, high fructose corn syrup , no additives; no fast food; small portions of food; 1 cup of coffee per day; 1 cup of black tea daily; no packaged of factory made food; willpower; incentives every time I weighed myself weekly with a loss of 2.5 pounds per week; no cereal; lots of beans/legumes; lots of nuts; 4 cookies per month with milk; no restaurants; and ignoring hunger pangs. I went from a size 42 to a 34. Greg. Good Luck.

    One way i got myself to workout when beginning, was doing pyramid sets that are timed (interval training). In where i would do a workout for a certain amount a time take a short 10-30 second break and then continue. Most people need to start small and with something that they know they can reach and accomplish. After one gets the habit of working out one can move to normal sets. Also do alternative cardio that will make you forget your even working out, like an hour walk, jump roping, doing jumping jacks while watching a video on TH-cam, anything that will keep your mind busy while working out.Never do very intensive workouts when starting from scratch, that will only make you lose motivation. As mentioned in the video start small. Yes, its going to take awhile. Bu would you rather be unfit, unhealthy, fat, or unattractive forever... or would you rather be dedicated for a few weeks or months and change your habits and later look great in a few months?

    Losing weight, actually you got to learn to read the nutrition value pages on products. For example (not 100% accurate) a 500g Nutella, has 2000+ Calories. A 1kg White proccess sugar, is about 4,000 Calories. Reading the Nutritional Label goes a long way.
    One major mistake weight losers make. Thinking they can lose weight fast. I mean, 10-20kg a week fast. Even if you lose 1-3kg a week, that is ideal. Do that for 10 weeks, and its suddenly 10-40kg lost weight.

    I've actually fallowed the steps, while on IIFYM. I tried to count my calories, but it was really more of a rule of thumb with a lot of cheat days - mostly because of alcohol. The exercise is hard to say. I've found a 15 minute routine online to fallow. It was just pushup, squats, dips, jumping jack, etc. total of 10 exercises, 30 sec as much as you can, 10 second rest, next exercise etc., 2 sets. I tried to do it every single day, can't say if I managed. I've lost 30 pounds in 90 days. Now I'm 148 lbs 5'8 and I literally don't feel like I was doing anything special. I even ate sweets while doing this. I'm maintaining my weight for about 5 months now, no exercise. I'm keeping myself in check with measuring tape.

    • @dreamerjewel1353

      That's awesome. Congrats. I usually just eat what I want, trying to keep it in caloric intake and also making sure I don't go overboard on junk, but I may have to try IIFYM. Is it tedious or hard to track macros?

    • @MadBunnyRabbit
      @MadBunnyRabbit 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends. You can just eat recomended amounts written on the label. This is about 30% fat 60% carbs and 10% protein. And this is calculated for about 2000 kcal. I'm saying about becouse on one product I actually counted and it was for 2116 kcal, 33% fat, 55% carbs and 12% protein. If you want to do a more precise split as I did (56 grams fat, 370 carbs and 124.2 grams of protein which is 2480 calories - of course I wont be so bent on hitting it exactly to the gram) then it starts to be a bit harder and you'll need an excel spreadsheet or something to write down how much you ate. I'm actually writting a program in C# to do this for me - I just need to create my own database of products -_- Hell, after I finish maybe I'll hire someone to port it into a mobile app and sell it XD
      But if you want to just fallow the recomended intake, than it's much more intuitive in my opinion.

    • @MadBunnyRabbit
      @MadBunnyRabbit 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Or you can just look for meal plans for 20/20/60 split and fallow that, that's also an option I suppose. which is probably the easiest you can go.

      @dreamerjewel1353 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I changed what I ate to only healthy food and I drink a minimum of 80oz of water a day and I do cardio every day. I do the cardio mainly because it honestly makes me so happy and was the substitute for craving fast food. I eat a moderate amount of carbs and fat and a lot of vegetables and a decent amount of protein. I have lost 34 pounds so far in the last 3 months which seems insane but I feel a million times better and all I am doing is exercising and eating healthy. Going from 266 to 232 that quickly people say is dangerous but the alternative seems worse which is gorging myself on more food. I am 6'1" and I am 232 pounds... so frankly im still fat lol but, I am losing weight every day.

I counter this sometimes by serving myself less food but occasionally I'm still hungry and serve myself a bit more and finish all of that too. Luckily for me, I've lost more weight than I've gained so it was a slow climb down but I'm happy where I am in terms of weight. Next is muscle.

    I got pretty much all of that wrong but lost 50lbs permanently :D It's a matter of mind how hard you wanna try. For most, the tips in the video hold true. But in my experience, I do best eating less by counting calories and exercising everyday (it's mostly fun for me though) and keeping a day of the week to look forward to indulging in some unhealthy food I like. 4. Do the kind of exercise that fits you - if you have no time left stick to high intensity workouts

    If you IF, Keto, and Carb while staying in a calorie deficit, and exercising then you’re guaranteed fat loss because you could only make so many mistakes. If you accidentally eat too much carbs you are still going to burn fat but not as much due to the IF that helps with the deficit along exercising lifting and cardio. Vice versa with the other things.

    I got a question, Is it bad that Im eating about three peoples worth of food at school while im going through puberty? some how I managed to loose a few pounds. I eat my serving my sisters serving and then i go to the cooler to get drinks and sometimes some snacks. Then for lunch i get as much food as possible, then i usualy get extra pizza and some days i get a sandwich of some sort that i eat around 3:30. People there are amazed how much food i can eat for so little of a bodie. I dont eat unhealthy food. I never eat candy, soda, or junk food like chips, cookies, desert, and stuff like that. I joined JROTC so i would be forced to work out because i cant make it to the gym anymore. I think its working. I weigh about 135 lbs and im 5' 4". Plz let me know if I should change anything thanks!

    Not as simple as calories in versus calories out. Different calories have different hormonal responses

    if i could give anyone one piece of weight loss advice.... it would be quit drinking soda entirely. no energy drinks, no diet coke, no "well just one pepsi with my dinner" quitting soda was harder than quitting smoking. but it was the first step i took in my weight loss.

    The human body doesn't go into survival mode so fast, since we have food readily available almost all the time.
