My personal experience playing with less experienced players:
Getting that camp/that lane xp is indeed important but at lower levels people don't know how to time camps to get that rotational advantage and the rest of the team is often so trigger happy that even though you'll get more lane xp, your team is very likely to lose a lot of xp in lost teamfights at the same time giving the team that is not soaking optimally in lanes the advantage as after they win that teamfight they can also get forts and then also some camps.
So although I agree soaking xp and getting those camps at smart moments is amazing, if the rest of your team is suicidal, it still won't get you the advantage.
Sometimes it might be better to do the wrong thing successfully together than the right thing but be unsuccessful at it if the other team doesn't do what they should.

My mechanics are pretty decent in my elo (gold 1) I regularly dodge skillshots,do my stutter stepping and body blocks properly. My biggest issue is that I have an awareness of a potato. When playing tank, I often initiate on out of position people, leave my backline open and let it be shredded or if I peel I have no idea what divers are doing. I'm rarely able to glance at minimap when doing something micro intensive and as an assassin I go after low health people ignoring my surroundings. Basically: tunnel vision is my worst enemy in this game. My sort of wake up call was when I played team league with a diamond Leoric as my favorite healer:Uther. Stukov basically threw his silence and I wanted to stun him no matter what. Meanwhile while forcing my way towards Stukov,Leoric was getting shredded and I got cocooned when he was about to die. So I ended up cocooned, all abilities off cooldown and Leoric rightfully complaining about lack of support.

Thats something common, and you dont have to feel you are a bad player, just think you are taking bad calls because your lack of awareness. A hero could help you a lot to improve in this situation is abathur, like you are safe, so, what do i do? watch minimap, put some W to give vision, Q a hero then heal them, top is empty, so you can bodysoak top, Z to top, W to have vision of no one ganking top, Q to my ally, some heals, oh! tracer is going down! W and Q while hat, easy kill. And then keep it up all game. I love E build for Abathur, and then after clone, all push talents. You can heal your allies, get exp, even do a lot of damage while hat, and practicing your map awareness without feeling you will die sooner or later. When you feel comfortable, you can bodysoak agressive, but just in a safe spot, will be enough for practice. I do think the better situation to practice with aba E build is QM, as random heroes will pop up, but almost never a better healer with your E than you. Remember after 4, your E heal them while shield is active, so if you shield them, then you remove your Q to get Hats cds more rapidly, they still recieve heals, so spread as many E on yout allies as you can. Care, will be a insane macro for the first time, then you iwill get practice and you will do it easier.

Decent waveclear, good damage in team fights, a good escape ability, instant camps (bribe lvl 1), and a freaking global. Since you say camps are so important could you do a video about them? When and how to take camps on specific heroes and maps? Especially the timing is difficult to memorize (can't find good spreadsheets). Why is it recommended for example on certain maps to take camps anytime and all the time and for other maps to take them at a specific moment? Also, you can have a good global pressure but if you lose all the teamfights it is going to be difficult to win the game. Is there any good advice about teamfights? Sometimes you just cannot win a teamfight even though your composition looks fine, the talents look fine, the stats look fine. Is there any general advice about teamfights? Hope you can make a video about camps and/or teamfights. Thx for the good content!

    • @Gohka
      @Gohka 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

As the other guy basically said, on maps where you all fight over a single objective taking a camp on the opposite side of the map just before it spawns, means they either have to send someone to deal with it so it's a 4v5 for the objective or they allow the camp to push and you get some tower exp from it. The reason you don't do that on all maps are things like if the objective is still very close to the lane (dragonshire, Braxis) where they can easily protect the objective while also dealing with the camp, on those kind of maps I'd say it's better to get camps after killing your lane opponent. There's also collection-based objective maps (tomb of the spider queen, blackheart's bay) where there's no set time for the objective, it's just when you collect enough of the thing to hand in there you could use the camp as a distraction so you can hand in easier.
As for your teamfight question, I think the golden rule for teamfighting is generally, though especially if you're on the back foot; avoid team fights at all costs unless you have a talent advantage (i.e they are level 12 and you just hit level 13). If you're still constantly losing teamfights then try and figure out the strength of your team and the weakness of theirs, like maybe they have a stronger healer but they will run out of mana quicker, so try to extend the fight until their healer is out of mana then strike. Or they have a lot of good engagement tools (like Garrosh throw) so try to bait that out on a tanky ally or one with an easy escape, then you engage them while it's on cooldown. Or you could always have your team hide in some bushes along a path to a lane and try and catch one of the enemies on their own. etc.

For me I've found guldan to be the most effective he is very consistent in damage the only trouble I have is identifying the best time to horrify. Lately I have been using Johanna as well as not that many like to heal or tank. The amount of missed camps and waves in silver is no joke. I tell people when to get a camp or help with one and no one comes and does it. I tell people when I'm playing Deckard that I'll cover their lane if they need to back and they never ping, it's frustrating to see simple macro mistakes. Ranked is not a 1 lane brawl.

I tried some Jaina and Rag in unranked last night with decent results. I think I'd stick with water elemental as it was easy to sick him on the back line or divers and disrupt them. also the CD is so short I could even use it on a bruiser camp to speed it up if I was only 50% health and wanted to get it before backing. Rag on large maps seemed to be very effective as he provided a great deal of exp with lava wave.

Very good vid, but think those heroes have a lot of "intricacies" and ways about how people would either misunderstanding your point/s or misunderstand that some of those heroes have HUGE DOWNSIDES that will just make the team lose teamfight more.. And honestly as someone in most of the time "stuck" in low gold know for a fact that Silver rule for winning is = win teamfights after 10 = win game (regardless of rotation)
    The downsides:
Stitches = HAS ONLY ONE VIABLE ULT (seriously stop picking Gorge), ESPECIALLY when opponents have dive.. Climb up at least up to Plat before picking Gorge.. The ULTIMATE lack of peel by going Gorge is an insta-lose and a big no-go
Alexstrasza = She's a VERY SKILL DEMANDING support = meaning BOTH her escapes as well as her heals are DELAYED by nature.. Meaning BOTH situations for self-preservation/self-saving as well as teammate saving you have to be quite WATCHFUL and PREDICT the outcome as you cast your abilities/heal.. Rehgar on the other hand is quite safe to play with not a single overly-need-to-care-about downside overall
Fenix/Greymane require A LOT OF SKILL to use properly mainly cause they don't self-heal, whilest Cassia for example is much easier to use and much harder to mess up while STILL having the survivability to endure.. Also very good range ADC is Zul'Jin cause even when your team isn't quite there to impact you have your Taz'Dingo to make sure that you don't die before you do all you can before heal or tank comes along.. No other range ADC can do that and are very punishable.. Fenix has that sort-of self-regen but his RANGE on auto-attacks are Tychus-like = meaning hard to use
THE UPSIDES that may have been forgotten:
Jaina and KT aren't just best cause easy-to-use or do camps/waves easy BUT because of the 24-7 active CC/peel ability.. Jaina slows and KT grav are a good way to make sure someone doesn't die on your team whilest doing a burst over a diver, Gul'Dan and/or Nazeebo DO NOT have those, and YET people pick them 24/7 for some strange reason, thank you very much so
Hammer ? = hell no, 80% of people pick a backliner anyway and if you pick that thing is most likely an autoloss, just adding the insult to an injury where you get "outendured" in a direct fight AAND be late on rotations to objectives and so on.. You'll also be most-likely dependant on your teammate-performance for being properly Zoned for BOTH = "picking the right fights" as well as "doing them near a good "impact zone" of your siege potential
Huge NO about Hammer.. => Basically the "rule of thumb" to "get loose from being stuck" is = pick heroes that HELP your TEAM be better (NOT the other way round, i.e. NOT pick those heroes that make/force the team "babysit" you).. That's why Illidan is no good (unless vs specific mage comps) and by that rule alone along with some other problems that may/not occur => Hammer is a huge NO
Thx for the video, very informative but kinda liked to put my own opinion/experience and relate-to what is said in the video as a "gold but still a bit stuck lower" type of player with over IDK 5k games by now :P
Previous video made me undomfortable with the web-cam ON but not sure out of which reason didn't bother me much at this one though

Falstad is one of the easiest caster to play, he can bribe mercs, and even though he has not a great waveclear, he can use his abilities to clean a wave, recall and immediately be back to soak an other lane. Lunara has a good waveclear for a dps, she has a great siege/duo soak potential and can get siege camps easily. Thrall is a good substitute for greymane for beginners imho thanks to his better mana/hp management, he can get camps and duo soak after lv 4 if needed.

I'm experiencing another behavior about communication in lower games. If I tell people "I'm going to do our siegecamp at 1:30, can you please cover my lane for a short time so we wont lose xp?", they will ignore it. I'm pinging "omw to camp" in time, so ppl know I want to do the camp and have actually time to stop whatever they are doing and get on my lane. I can mark the days when somebody acutally comes to my lane and there wouldnt be many marked days in my callender. That's because the midbrawl is more important to them.
If somebody does come to my lane and soaks and ppl in the other lanes play a little more carefull and don't die, I know we will win this game. I'm then matched with above avarage players and we usually stomp the other team. You can tell that by minute 2.

I mean I know to clear waves but that example really cleared it up for me, the level you should be by the third objective on volskya, I thought 16, but have been watching htc and I realized there 20 most of the time and that's a HUGE difference. Also forgot that camps give xp, that's an important detail.

Starting to climb now. Especially after I started maining tanks, that upped my team fighting a lot which lacked for me. Reghar also seems like a good hero to climb with, with so much utility, camp/ waveclear ability and surprising good one on one capabilities. Finally climbed my eternal silver account both team and hero league into gold now.

I double soak Alex when I just can’t heal some teams fast enough and they just won’t soak. I mean you can’t help people that run from you right into a tower (again). I always get blamed for people dying while getting MVP, and a tone more healing done than I should have. Still, I drop a healing circle and people don’t even get in it lol. What I like about Alex is if you can get close enough, safely, she has enough range to hit towers without getting hit herself. She can do a good bit of poke that way, so if you’re close enough it’s worth a few shots. Though I still think carry can be hard with Alex if your team can’t help you back. You can’t win with soak alone, sometimes you gota help them use it. I have had a lot more luck with Dehaka for the simple fact he can selfheal a tone if built right, and most likely wave clear better. Tho I find in team fights I have to walk Dehaka into almost all the incoming damage to prevent my team from getting hit by it since they won’t heal or manage to avoid it. While trying to Q whoever needs to be ‘controlled’. It’s frustrating that I have to play him so brainlessly since I know much of this damage should be avoidable. But the teams I’m getting are below my skill level, my QM games are considerably harder lol, so I can really abuse Dehaka. But these are not good players I’m talking about, I don’t think Alex should get highest damage for example. Games I win (not out of the random luck of what team feel like being more stupid today) are game where there is another person on team willing to follow me or who has enough idea about what needs to be done. If one person dose or tells people something nothing tends to happen, when 2 people do it they seem to follow the flock. It’s an interesting observation. I suspect I am around silver/gold but the games im getting are so mind blowing currently. Tonight I had 4 in a row with AFKers and my placement matches? I had 6 games with 2 or more AFKers in! That was not a fun moment. Lol. I think moving up the ranks is harder the lower rank you are since your closer to your skill level. Sure master players can clear bronze in a few games with 90% win rate, but move up to diamond that win rate drops from what I remember in previous videos. So anyone that isn’t masters (yet) shouldn’t be fooled into thinking lower ranks are easy to break out of. I found in QM games that once you drop below 2000MMR on hotslogs its harder to progress than when your over 2000MMR, I suspect it’s something to do with the level of support your team will give back to you. Bronze you don’t often get any after helping someone out. Go up the ranks and then it’s a valid play to put the squishy healer at risk to save someone, since once they have some healing on them they can turn the tables back on who was attaching them (and thus saving the healer in return).

Great video! Would recommend adding time stamps in the description.
Also how about a 'short' follow-up video with some talent builds for the mentioned heroes.
I'd also like to suggest making different playlists on your channel so people can easily track different guides. You'd might want to revise some after a while due to changes and it makes it easier for you too.
Small note, I'd love if you'd move the camera a bit so you're more in the center of the camera screen. Perhaps use the center of the frame of the painting behind you as a background.

but one unaddressed issue is that players that have gone Bronze to Master ALL come from Master originally. It's like saying.. "hey watch these NFL players dominant at the college level". Players at the college level have never seen the speed and competitiveness at the pro level. They would have to learn by being there and experiencing it: failing and learning over and over. Not all of a sudden being experienced - it doesn't work like that. Why it's hard to climb is because as you progress, things change and go beyond what you are used to seeing - so you have to "learn the new meta". i.e. face checking bushes in Silver is nothing whereas at higher levels: beware! by the time a new player really learns this they've lost all the games where people punish you for that (facechecking bushes as an assassin). Then you don't see it again until you go on a win run, then lose again. So you never see it that consistently. It's a serious grind for players that have never played at a higher level.

For me best is butcher (doing same thing you did in video with sonya, but sonya just doesnt fit me), because I am Master in HL, in TL(solo) went through bronze to platinum, tanks in low ranks tend to stand next to me, and even when they tried to counter me I just wait for blinds to be on CD (they use it when tanks engage), plus its easy to gank and finish quest early which also helps clear camps, waves quickly, i ussually end up doing cca 850dmg per aa at 20. Another ones that are easy for me to carry games in low ranks are zagara, gazlowe, morales, genji and abathur.
Also had a lot of fun with murky in bronze.

The problem I’m having is my teammates all have quick match syndrome. All they want to do is chase and fight when they don’t need to, either totally ignoring objectives or staying to fight after the objective is over with, for example at Cursed Hollow.
There’s no point in fighting after it is gone, you should leave and go back to soaking lanes, but everyone keeps staying and fighting when they don’t need to. If I leave them to go do so, they are now down a man and will probably all die. If I ping to retreat constantly, nobody listens.
If I do my job taking camps and double soaking, I generally get yelled at for “not helping us” or “being useless.” Even though I am being impactful, multiple people will stop doing their job to type constantly and then they get themselves killed. This just ends up starting the toxic train derailing and everyone loses morale and we lose the game.

I do my camps and soak lane, try to bring the most impact.
I seem to do well, but my team mates are trash around half the time.
I just had 5 games today, 2 wins and 3 loses.
1st loss: I choose varian first, the other 4 people choose squishes and we have no heals.
2nd loss: we have a feeder, he went 0-21 as alarak
3rd loss: great lineups, we just lost by being worse.
The thing is, our wins were because the opposite team did the same as my 1st and 3rd loss. How can people get out of the shit pit when, 99% of the time, it's your team mates that are the problem? This is my frist Bronze, usually I get placement in Gold 1-3 and stay there.

  • @fiorilli1
    @fiorilli1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Face reveal! I was still hoping you were Kripparian, like your tone of voice is very similar, XD. Im in placements games with my smurf acc, not ranks like when li ming came out, and i used Maiev with nor super results, but, when i pick thrall to solo lane, won every match, even when your tank want to pick at last sec sonya. For ex, with thrall i end Q quest at lvl 5 in good matchups, sometimes at lvl 8 if there are 2 ppl in my lane. Always chill, not going ham, just soaking and doing quest, then earthquake and GG. Like ppl in low rank dont sidestep Kael Q, earthquake slow make my bad teammates to land every single skillshot, i use it like "guys, they all are slowed, go for them". Also, as Thrall has a huge ways to sustain himself, your healer can heal another one, like healers used to heal nearby heroes from backline more than their melees or tanks. Almost finish my placements with my second acc, but heroes with self sustain could be key, as in a game i literally was 10 secs as maiev with only 20% of my health and my supp never heal me, it was insane. Also, as thrall you help your tank to initiations, like sometimes your Muradin miss every single Q, so a good W of thrall from a bush could be key to get picks. Another thing, i feel like your team miss lot of damage, they dont blow anything, so have a hero that can secure a pick, as kerrigan combo, or something like that, could be very good.
