    Youve gotta remove those middle seats/ mount the spare on the back! Ive got a 15 renegade, ive got the spare tire cover in my garage because theres SOO much additional room with the cover taken off, I can only speculate the extra space if I were to mount it on the back instead. Also the middle seats are HUGE/easy to remove if you have somewhere to store them!

    • @AnywhereGoes
      @AnywhereGoes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We removed the back seats in our version 2 we used all of last summer. We fit a kitchen and pantry in it, so you're absolutely right, tonnes of space! We'll be making another video with the newer set up this year (:

    Thank you for making this video. Very creative and neat modular design you all came up with and have helped stoke my ideas.
    We’re in the process of making our Renegade a livable space for my wife (and me) as well. We recently added a pop up roof top tent to the renegade & just tried it out on a 7 day shake down trip. It works great except one night at a rest stop it was storming and we only needed a few hours rest. We had so many bags & what!attempted to sleep sitting up (it didn’t work so I ended up driving out of the rain for an hour and popping up the RTT, & we slept great).
    Anyhow I’ve been thinking of a modular setup fir some storage bins & making room for at least one person to sleep laying in a scenario were we might need to stealth camp in the Renegade. I really.like the ideas for being able to open windows & still have privacy too as well. How did the Reflectix work out for the hatch window? I made Velcro ones for my truck topper recently. I know this got a bit long winded but again thank you for the video!

    • @AnywhereGoes
      @AnywhereGoes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Reflectix has been a game changer! I (Angel) have always been weary of someone coming and flashing lights into the Jeep in the middle of the night, so it's been amazing for privacy.
      Because I made a template for the hatch window, and really all windows, we don't need to add anything extra for installation. Which is great because I didn't wanna mess up the interior with tape or adhesives. It maybe takes an extra 10 seconds to really pinch it in the window corners, but after you do it doesn't go anywhere!
      We've been considering a pop-up tent for a while for longer road trips, but we love our cargo roofbox and it's pretty pricey, how are you liking yours?

    • @M1k3y0501
      @M1k3y0501 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AnywhereGoes Thank you for the response and that’s good to hear. I have some left over Reflectix that I might as well put toward the Renegade build because I get your weariness. That’s why I made it “light tight” in the truck cap. The thought of someone watching me sleep…waking up to a pair of eyes would be creepy for sure, lol. We really are enjoying the pop-up tent. My wife wants to live in it full time and travel around birding :) One of the big pros for us is that we can keep all of our bedding, pillows, and our clothes, along with a few other items in there when we close it. Kind of like a luggage carrier (which as a side note the manufacturer says you can use it as by just popping up the back and keeping the front closed, but I don’t think so). We can also use the restroom up there so we don’t have to climb out in the middle of the night.
      To my surprise I found our pop-up for less than the price of the Smittybilt RTT which was the one I had wanted to buy for a while. I’m happy we didn’t go with that now, because it’s such a small foot print and so easy to just pop up vs the Smittybilt. Thinking of going with a Madness Automotive ladder to mount to the side and use that instead of the telescoping ladder. We went with white and grey…Would love to send you some pics of it we took on the Rene.

    I would personally be claustrophobic in a Renegade & I’m not a huge guy … 6’2” & 220 - small by Slavic standards. This where the higher roof of the Wrangler helps.

    • @AnywhereGoes
      @AnywhereGoes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it can get kinda tight in the Renegade, but we're working with what we have. There's enough space to sleep on our side and watch movies before bed, but aside from that, it's functional and we don't really hang out in there.

    I started building this with thinner plywood (1/2") and 2x4"s. Those shown look like 2x6 instead of 2x8s but I could be wrong. I wanted the (what looks like 3/4") plywood (in the video) but that piece is $75 right now near me. I am just installing additional supports in the middle of all three sections. Hinges and all I should have about $100 in it. I will share some pics when done if anyone wants to see them. Thanks for the video!

      We use either bins or bags. A couple of shallow bins under the main trunk area for kitchen and food stuff. And we put our backpacks and soft-side cooler behind the front seats. We then shove some odd shaped things under the middle of the platform. Oh, and we use a roof cargo box. It's not great, but works. We are planning to build better storage for sure.
