    I just bought a 125e, but I have never done any scrap booking or stamping. I got it to create designs for the center pieces for my wreaths. But-I love seeing how you made use of what you cut out. I may have to take up stamping now😅. I’m binge-watching all your videos. You are an awesome teacher. Thanks!

    I have searched for someone that makes it easy and fun to learn the SNC without using terms that are so technical that you have to jump around from one project to the next to figure out what they are saying and you are the absolute best! I just love watching and creating with your videos. Thank you , thank you, thank you!

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Donna, I am so glad you like my teaching style. This video was so exciting for me because it opened up so many possibilities. When you have stamps with large open areas and can cut out the insides, you can so so much. The SNC has opened up my crafting world to new possibilities.

    I bought my new ScannCut DX 6 weeks before Christmas but only opened it Christmas Day. It was gift to myself. I had been watching videos so I knew what it was and I was not overwhelmed when I opened and tried to use it for the first time. You showed me things I did not know. Thank you.

    Thank You for the video! I have to use my brand new ScanNCut to make some projects. Really don’t know how to operate my machine but now I know because of all your ScanNCut videos. I’m actually writing notes on my Crafting notebooks so I will remember how to do it again. Thanks again. From MN.

    Thank you for sharing this technique. The butterfly, ribbon, sequin trim, and wooden spoon embellishments are such cute adornments for the honey jars!

      @PaperedChef  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, I gave out a case of those honey jars to friends last year. Then, my friend’s beehives were almost totally abandoned. It is sad the bees left. I hope they found a new home and that they are making honey again.

    Thank you for this video! I need to do a lot of stamping, and playing with my machine. ☺
    As for the honey, I also have allergies and asthma. I put local honey in my tea, and drinking water. It also helps me from catching so many colds, which in turn, sets off the worst asthma. I've been doing it for 3 years, since the last time I was In the hospital, and knew I had to find a way to help myself. The majority of asthma drugs were not helping. It really helps.

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Wendy. My friend's bees left his hive and I had about a year's worth of honey until it finally ran out. There are other sources of local honey but that was the best. I agree that is it great for helping with allergies.

    I just discovered your TH-cam channel today. I've been struggling with the decision between the Brother ScanNCut SDX125e and the popular cutting machines that are in most hobby/craft stores in my area these days. After viewing this video my mind is made up--definitely the ScanNCut machine for me. I will have to order a machine online, since there are no stores here that sells the 125e, but I have it in my shopping cart online and will be hitting the "place order" button after I finish this comment. ;-) Thank you for your great tutorial and I'm sure I'll be referring to your channel often after my machine arrives.

      Elaine Higham Oh yes, if I had the patience, I could put the butterfly back together like a puzzle. Thanks for watching! I will probably bite the bullet and get a new DX if there is a Black Friday sale. I like the roll feature. That is new in that you can cut from a roll of vinyl. There are 1300 built in designs. There are new mats which will hopefully STICK this time. It cuts thicker materials which I can already do with the deep cut blade but if it sticks better, we should get better results. There are a couple more fonts but I already download fonts I like. There is nothing that I must have except maybe the support for more file types. I can review it better once I get my hands on one.

    I have a Scan n Cut 2 and have used it very little. You have helped me realize its potential. I have a question about the butterfly that was cut in detail. Would it be too thick to apply the paper to Sizzix adhesive sheets to make it like a sticker?

      @PaperedChef  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheryl Wanchock Hi Cheryl, I’m so glad you are making the most out of your ScanNCut. I love the sticker sheets you mentioned and I use the all of the time while due cutting with my Big Shot. They work on the ScanNCut as well. No paper is too thick. It’s just a matter of trying to utilize as much of the sticker sheet as possible. When I don’t use it, I have many more options for my scraps because they are not stickers. Avery also makes sticker sheets and I cut them out too. Here’s my video about that. m.th-cam.com/video/B6EuuZz0Mok/w-d-xo.html

    Be careful using that blue tape on the Bros S&C. I had used a good quality blue tape for a while....but one day, the tape decided not to stick and got wrapped around the bar and I could not get it off. I had to have it professionally done. This is so useful as I've struggled to do this with my SNC. However, I have a question, please. When you were zoomed in at 7:18 there's a red outline - sort of all by itself on the lower left side of the butterfly. What is this? I see this all the time when I'm trying to cut. Also, at 10:49 it appears to me (but I have poor vision so it might be glare) that one interior lobe of the butterfly did not cut out. Again, my vision is poor so this may be wrong. Thank you so much for taking the time who show in clear and easy steps how to do this.

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Diane, thanks for watching and I'm glad you gave me the exact time in the video you have questions about. Your first question is asking about the red part. When I used Scan to Cut data, all of the inside pieces of the butterfly were scanned. The reason that one part was red is because it just happened to be the part which was selected at the time when I zoomed in. The selected region is outlined in red. I deselected it and then went to go and deleted the little stray bits.

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Diane, I also wanted to address your second question at 10:49. The last lobe of the butterfly did cut out but it got stuck. I recommend using paper snips to get out the pieces which don't just pop out. Even though that is what I recommend, I pulled out the stuck piece with my hand. If a lot of pieces are getting stuck, then I suggest increasing the blade depth.

      Thank you for taking the time to clarify. I have kind of put my Brother away temporarily because I'm not as successful at using it as I had hoped. • @honestly8015
    @honestly8015 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Forgive me for comment/question no. 2. . . after watching the video a couple of times I think it was just poor vision that made me see an uncut part of your butterfly. But there is yet another question (thanks for your patience). When you were going to cut the grapefruit grove butterfly you were careful not to move the image of the butterfly from the screen. If it is saved to your machine, couldn't it be placed anywhere to cut? Does it have to be in that specific location? Also, thanks for showing you use painter's tape to secure your paper to the mat. All too often my mats lose their stickiness when I want to cut and I don't want to take the time to 'resticky' them. I never thought of painter's tape. Duh Diane. So, thanks again for your help.

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that is a great question. If you want to move your butterfly around, you would have to group it. Or, if you drag it, you will get just part of the butterfly. It is easy to group it but I didn't at that point so I wanted to make sure I was in the right place. Stay tuned because I am still conducting an experiment comparing ways to restick the mats. I will share my results on TH-cam when I am done. Painter's tape works great for now.

    Hi! I have a question that is sort of related. I have a sheet of butterfly clip art. The machine isn't recognizing the antennae, so I drew pencil lines around them and added an offset of 0.02" in Canvas Workspace. However, the machine then cut out the antennae with the offset, but left a small paper outline of each butterfly on the mat. Do you know what I am doing incorrectly? Also, would it be better if I just darkened the antenna with a fine point pen? Thanks so much.

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sandra, it sounds like your antennae are separate from your butterfly. Use a pencil to connect them to the butterfly (which I think you did) but then add an offset of 0.04” on the machine itself. It helps fuse the shape prior to cutting. I may need a visual so you can use my Contact Form to get in touch so you can send images. Contact the Papered Chef: paperedchef.stampinup.net/contact_me

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Julie, You can stamp a whole page of the Congrats. Then, you use Scan to Cut data. Then, you save it and retrieve it. Then, you can cut the inside and outside. However, with the CM models, you can't do layering at that point. With the SDX you can. This would enable you to add an offset. Still, if you are just cutting out the words without anything extra, do that. Here is one of my many tutorials where I explained the difference between Direct Cut and Scan to Cut Data.

    Thanks Chris

    • @PaperedChef
      @PaperedChef  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris, it doesn't cut it out for a few of reasons. I edit out the painter's tape if it gets selected. I do that in the editing mode (little shapes) by selecting the tape outline and deleting it. Sometimes the tape is on the sides and so I select the inside, completely avoiding the tape. The other reason is that a lot of times I scan in my image. Then, I add tape later. Therefore, it never becomes part of the scan. Try those tips. Thanks for watching.

      Barbara Comfort It’s the CM300. These features work on many models including the CM350. Which model do you have?

      You would definitely want the CM350 because it has over 600 built in images and the support for wireless. That's my next upgrade.
