      Except for Honda struts..which have double lip seals....the single lip seals can be refilled with nitrogen gas...for peanuts.
      You just have to know the pressure to which you need to pressurise them for the lift required.
      The struts are placed inside a tube, the tube pressurised with nitrogen..which goes into the strut past the one-way seals...but the seal then stops the nitrogen coming back out.
      Depressurise the filling tube...
      take out the now repressurised gas strut...
      reinstall and the strut works for another few years until the nitrogen again has very slowly leaked out....

      @@elfpimp1 it's honestly perfect for EDC- and that's a high bar for myself. I've used 5.11 forever, their duty pants (I'm a fire-medic & work TCCC for regional SWAT/CERT/etc) and my everyday wear are 5.11 tac pants w/Kore belt. It's not TOO stiff (as most duty belts tend to be) and comparatively low profile in comparison to most carry belts- able to move/get out of vehicles, etc without feeling/looking like you've got a "Batman utility belt" propping you up.
      I'd (& many officers and former USCG S&R Medics from my unit) absolutely recommend for officers/any EDC civvie who carries IWB or OWB.

    My 'hoodstay' is a piece of 6" x 1/2" C channel aluminum with a strong magnet glued on. Cheap and effective.
    Drain and refill coolant, brake fluid tank, clutch fluid tank, power steering tank once a year. Cheap and effective insurance.

    I wonder if those piston clamps work with a toolbox lid.

    • @elfpimp1
      @elfpimp1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It looks like it can. Measure the clearance between the piston housing and the wall of your box. I know it works on the larger cabinet types that lift up but don't slide into their own top.

    There's no way Scotty could possibly live in a housing development that has an HOA.

    • @tinypurplefishesrunlaughin8052

      My question is “Who finds it liberating living in an HOA ? The only restriction in my neighborhood is “No raising pigs”. I can live with that but what I see from HOAs would brand me a criminal the day I moved in. No way I’ll ever be told what I can’t do on my own property and having no mortgage it’s mine not the bank

    break fluid can't be measured when the car is cool, it should be measured after respective ride, until break fluid became about 65 degrees. those stripes don't lie, but you shoud use them right to give you the truth.

    About forty years ago I made a modified storm door catch for my failed hood struts, Basically what I did was take a washer (stainless steel) that would fit around the shaft of the strut, cut a slot into the washer so it would fit around the shaft, bent the washer so it would work as a chock, bent the washer to get it around the shaft then bent it back into shape afterwards (one for each strut). I think I spent about 12 cents for the washers (being stainless steel). Worked like a charm.

    i live in an area where you can find sticks or branches to hold the hood. never have had to "buy" one here (and people dont seem to sell them either).. :) just find one, cut it to length, and leave it in the car.. tell your partner its to hold the hood/trunk so she doesnt automatically throw it away though.

    I just got a pair of hatch struts for about $30 including shipping and tax. Yes, aftermarket ones but they actually appear to be more sturdily constructed than the Honda OEM struts, which would have cost about $90 to replace. On the OEM struts the plastic sockets for the ball had threads cut directly into the plastic, for the metal rod on one end and the metal casing on the other end, to screw into. The aftermarket sockets had brass or bronze insert fitted inside the plastic sockets.

    Brake fluid near and in the calibers is where you want to test and a simple brake bleed will fix that.

    You are correct best belt ever I got the as seen on tv one from walmart quality isn't the greatest but still lasted 2 years and & there only 20 bucks at Walmart buckle is still like brand new. It's the only belt that has actually worked for me I'm super skinny so anything I eat or anything I do I constantly change size and I can adjust as I sit down or stand up or walk or sit at a desk all day without even being noticeable, makes any clothing nice and comfy and actually fit correctly.

    The brake fluid strips test for copper corrosion level but don't test for water content, which dramatically reduces the boiling temp of brake fluid. My understanding is that brake fluid should be flushed regularly to keep it "dry".

  • @ls66
    @ls66 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've got a kore belt for its intended purpose and you're right it's a quality belt. Plus when I work on my cars the buckle doesn't protrude as far as a standard belt so less chance of scratching a fender.
