Scotty I wish you talk more about the geo metro I know your not a fan of gm but I got a geo metro 1994 automatic I know it’s sad that’s it’s not a standard but it gets great gas the only thing it does it dies when you come to a stop if you don’t put your foot on gas just a little it’s a great car only paid 500$ and it’s got 130k miles. I cleaned the egr valve and nothing so I think it’s something in the fuel line maybe a element from the fuel filter

Scotty was my mechanic when I lived in Houston. My 93 Accord ran better than it did from the factory after he replaced the timing belt. I always wondered how he made money because he would usually spend 1/2 hour giving me DIY tips when I picked up my cars from him. Scott has always made it his mission to inform the consumer so they can avoid scams

My father-in-law owned a mechanic shop that worked on only American cars, and mostly classic cars. He told me to use Sea Foam on my '02 Infiniti I35.
Every seal imaginable started leaking oil... That's the story of how I now own an Acura TL.

@@brokentombot I've never used Aerokroil. I may give it a try next time I buy penetrating fluid. But honestly, I've been sold on PB for about 15 years now. If I have project with rusty bolts, I'll generally hit them daily for a few days before the job and I rarely have any fastener issues. Granted, I don't live in the north or near the coasts where everything is corroded beyond recognition.

I just go to lowes or Home Depot for pb blaster. I like the PB Teflon spray as well
pb blaster is great stuff! My dad use to use it all the time, he taught me to spray some on any rusty bolts before even trying to loosen them. Sometimes the really stuck nuts and bolts we would spray them and let them sit over night. Now in my mid 30s, I always have a can of this stuff in the garage at all times.
Many penetrating lubes work better with time, so when and where you can let it sit a few minutes or longer.
Me too, I stopped using wd40 and went to pb, way better stuff!!!
Pb blaster is popular in the northeast. Every auto parts store has it. The only issue with that stuff is the smell and it doesn’t seem to ever dissipate.
Popular in the southwest, harbor Freight sells it and it's always in homedepot

PA here. Have hundreds of cans at lowes at any given time. I actually like the smell kinda!
I won't ever buy it again because of the smell. You can't wash other clothes with it on them.
I'm glad he finally got to a product that I used, PB Blaster, we used this at the locomotive shop I used to work in-this stuff is amazing on getting rusted parts to break apart-highly recommended....
Every mechanic has told me the same thing about the A/C sealer. That being said, I put it in my truck approximately 10 yrs ago. A/C stills blows cold to this day, and it's one of Scottys favorites, a dodge.
I watch a video with Scotty everyday before work and for some strange reason, gets me motivated to work! Such an enthusiastic guy, love the videos!

That Slime product is working fine on my bicycles for over 15 years. I use it on my MTB(26"). It has an inner tube, and last time I swapped tyres I counted 18 holes, that I didn't know, but this thing fixed it. Didn't patch the inner tube,just put it back with the 18 holes,and it's still good.
It's great for low speed applications yes. Scotty's talking about putting it in a commuter vehicle.
Living in New England, PB Blaster will always be a star in my garage.
PB is great for loosening up heavily salted control arm/suspension bolts!
Used to use it, couldn't find it, bought something called liquid wrench, which seems to work just as well, if you can't find PB.
I used the AC Pro in my 2006 Corolla when I bought it at 135k, ac didnt work. The AC Pro made it blow cold and drove the car for 4 years, never any issues. Sold it to a friend and its still running perfect.
I use it too just not the one with the sealer in it.
PB blaster is definitely great for rusted bolts. I also used it to free my sticking hood release that would stick open.
I filled my dad’s 1985 maxima up with bad gas in 1990’s. Car ran terrible for a month until I tried seafoam as a last resort. I thought it was a gimmick but my auto tech teacher told me to try it before tearing it apart. It worked
Growing up in Michigan and working on cars, PB Blaster was a staple in every mechanic's toolbox.
Yeah I'm from North Central Washington in the Civic Northwest we didn't really see it around our area till after 2000

LPS-1 is a similar product, but it has better lubrication properties than WD-40, and dries so it doesn't attract dirt.
@@markh.6687 youdon't really use wd-40 for rusted bolts on a car or elsewhere as it does not penetrate well. it is best on things like hinges or other minor metal items that need some lubrication but are not totally rusted. pb blaster is better on rusted bolts or nuts,especially if you can leave it for a short time before removal.
@@hellshade2 I've used WD on lightly rusted items; LPS-1 for the bad stuff, since I have it handy. Have used PB and it is better than WD-40 on rust by a mile. Looks like Home Depot and Advance Auto Pars carry PB in store.

I've used Slime in bike, wheel barrow and land mower tires and it worked like magic and it has lasted. Interesting to note not a good idea to use in car tires. Scotty keep up the advice!
A TH-cam channel proved that Liquid Wrench beats PB Blaster for loosening rusted parts. Been around as long as I can remember, I am 68 LOVE it. Mechanic for 50 years also.
Tyre slime works really well so long as the puncture you're trying to fix isn't huge. It's particularly good for things from pushbikes to dirt bikes to quads. It's also good for a get you home where cars are concerned but just be prepared to get moaned at by your tyre shop though when it comes to fixing or replacing your rubber!
Good for riding lawn mowers tires too

I retired from working in a shipyard. We used PB Blaster to free up rust and corrosion. It works.

Blaster is the best nut buster/ lubricant in a spray can made!
Same here, only I use it to free rusted and stuck tight nuts on big lawn mower blades. Works when impact alone won’t.
I first heard about it when I was doing some repair work in the mines.
They swore by it so I tired it.

Anything that smells that bad must work great...
10 years at a parts store. I've found that cheap carb cleaner can work just as well as Seafoam for intake cleaning. Slime is the best all-around tire sealant I know of. Great to follow up with after plugging a tire. As the directions say, all you have to do to keep it from settling at the bottom, and unbalancing the tire is to drive around (the longer, the better) immediately after you finish putting it into the tire.
SeaFoam does work for my 05 Yukon. It starts better. Also my Son-in-law uses in his motorcycle, and it dose help starting an driving.
Hey Scotty, love your vids, always great information and tips. My sons and I have been watching and learning for years now. Funny you should mention Blaster, as I picked up a couple of cans a while back at Harbor Freight of all places. Please keep passing on your knowledge, it is very greatly appreciated by millions of us DIY amateur mechanics.
While using PB Blaster to loosen nutz on my engine, I found the over-spray cleaned the engine parts very well.

Back in the late 70s, early 80s my dad used Armor All on my mother's vinyl seats. She told him to never do it again because when she had to make an emergency stop she almost slid off the seat while wearing her seatbelt. I miss that VW 412 wagon.
My dad rarely has to use Slime but everytime he has had to use it it has got him buy until he needed to replace the tire. My dad uses PB Blaster all the time and works very well.
Scotty. I normally agree with you on most things. But I will have to differ on the seafoam. I've been a mechanic for 30 years and it's an amazing product, if you want an inexpensive tune up on an old, high mileage car. I have had amazing luck with this and so have many that I know, that have used it. It may indeed , not work for brand new cars, but who the heck has money for new cars. Haaaa. I sure don't.
Wife's uncle used to put it in his planes and all of his toys.
I use Deep Creep (by sea foam) as a penetrating oil and Fluid Film as a protectant. Best I have found.

For the Armorall one, diethylene glycol is an interesting chemical. Wine-makers in Austria in the '80s used it as a sweetener for their wine to improve taste and yield (since they could use fewer and crappier grapes) and many people got sick, and it ruined the reputation of Austria's wine industry for 15 years. There's a comprehensive video documentary called "The Austrian Wine Poisoning" on TH-cam that talks about it.
Poured Sea Foam inside the head of a commercial mower engine. Reason being my brother-in law was too cheap to change a spark plug until it wouldn't run at all. So by the time he bought a plug their was so much carbon build up it just fouled the plug. He called the deal and they wanted over 300 bucks to take off the head and clean it out. So I let the seafoam foam over night, put an old plug in it. Started it up and it smoked like hell for over 10 minutes. Then I put a new plug in it. As far as I know it's still running to this day.

I use Seafoam in all my small engine power equipment. Haven't had to clean a carb in years.
That's what it was made for. Small motors with drip carbs. Using it on big engines with fuel injectors and fuel mix computers makes no sense, but it does make large white clouds.
I do not use it in my power equipment engines and I have not had to clean a carb ever.
@@dianahardy7916 Good for you! Where to you live? Here in Canada, our summer gear sits in a garage for 6 months in the winter unused, the snow blowers sit in the garage all summer. The stuff works great as a fuel stabilizer.
For what it’s worth, Slime works wonders in bicycle inner tubes. I’ve pulled nails out of my tires, got back on and kept going!
Yep...I use Slime bicycle products all the time and they're very good there. I put a Slime self-sealing inner tube on the rear three years ago and no flats at all.

Also, tire repair slime or fix a flat products can also damage your tire pressure sensors. So beware. That $5 can can cost you hundreds
When I was a kid with my first car ( 91 geo prism ) my alternator went out . I had no father and I took it to a small shop to get it fixed , guy knew my dad had passed( small town) . He only charged me for the part and showed me how to do it . That old mechanic gave me the confidence to work on my own cars to this day.
I find Armor All to leave a greasy shiney residue on the dash which can cause excessive reflective glare on sunny days.
A friend of mine used Armour all, on his Broncos floor mats...it was like having the floor frozen in ice, couldn't even brace for a stop sign! You just slide to the firewall!!!
It also shortens material life. Drys it out, makes it crumble.
I use the armor all flat finish, hard to find but a nice low Lustre finish.
@@garyjohnson1970 That's true especially if you live in the South. The heat and humidity are brutal. Turtle wax makes a great interior spray that does a much better job. It also doesn't leave that greasy sheen on the interior.

I agree with you that I would not put restore in my Toyota or Honda but I have put it in several Tractors and Large Diesel Generators that had lots of blowby, one of which was using 1 gal/day of oil... Two 8cyl bottles of restore put in on separate days about a week apart reduced that usage down to about 1 quart/day. That is significant. Did it fix the bad rings, no... did it help me through the immediate situation, yes. I was in a time after a hurricane when we needed that generator to run and could not take it offline to rebuild it. This product saved the day in that case.

I agree with all but slime, Slime is pretty great for motorcycle tires at least, the rest are nearly worthless though
I've used Slime one time. Pulled out the roofing tack and removed the Schrader valve and put in roughly a teaspoon of the slime rotated tire to where the function with points right down and put air in the tire it sealed and was still balanced. I use seafoam in my 2000 Dodge Dakota 3.9 sucking it through the vacuum system and surprisingly I did get a improvement running and response after 290,000 Miles

Omg i thought I was the only person who thought armour all was crap!. Every time I ever tried it my dash ended up cracking!
I noticed dashes cracked when ArmorAll was used year-round. I only used it one day/year on a hot summer day and my dashes wouldn't crack.
PB Blast is good stuff! Loosens stuck bolts, let it soak overnight 👍
Retired lawman of 22 years . USED P.B. Blaster to clean and lube my service weapon. Made it a quick way to clean the lead and junk out of my barrel. No issues with jams or sticking. Just my experience
PB Blaster saved my butt when I was doing my brakes a few months ago. Love it!
PB Blaster is a must! It's the only reason I ever go into our local Advance Auto.
I use Sea Foam on all my small motors. Works great.

I use Chevron Techron and also Seafoam in my c5 Corvette gas tank because the fuel sender loves to act up due to sulfur in the gas. It does make them work again.
I was a manager for a couple of the box auto parts stores and have turned more than a couple of wrenchs in my day. I had to sell what the "all knowing" customer wanted but I wholeheartedly agree with everything in this video. BTW, I am currently living south of Houston and can find P.B. at all the green stores here.

Anytime I see someone in the auto parts store, usually a lady or young person trying to decide on something like Seafoam, I share the story of my dad's '87 Silverado. I inherited it after he passed. It basically sat for about 3 years. Mom drove it occasionally but she didn't realize it had fuel filler doors on both sides. One of the tanks was full of 3 year old gas. I flew to Oklahoma from New Orleans to drive it back. While driving around town for a couple of days before heading south I switched tanks and the engine sputtered and died. The inside of the gas cap smelled like paint thinner. I put 6-8 cans of Berryman B-12 Chemtool in there and it cleaned it up enough for me to drive the tank dry. I had the throttle body injectors cleaned when I got back to New Orleans. I swear by Berryman.
in my test it does way better job for gas but sea foam is great to use in oil it removes alot of sludge in neglected engines tested buy me on every old car 90 or older iv restored
A young couple slipped and fell tonight while on a gentle walk in Rhode Island. Authorities are unsure why some vagrant would spray lubricants all over the sidewalks. Police are on the lookout for an older gentleman that seemed simulating someone drowning. We'll have this story and more tonight at 11.

Good point about the Slime tire product, Scotty. It does work great in my (bicycle) tires, though....
Maguires actually makes some really nice interior detailing sprays. Are used the Quick detailer and matte finish protectant on my dashboard in front door panels. I haven’t had any issues with that end it looks like new again. That’s my recommendation.

I've seen Seafoam work magic but not on anything newer than a 90's car, just haven't seen anyone try. Just happened to be an old fuel injected Ford 5.0 OHV every time, a few low output ones and one Mustang. The effect it has on a bad idle is pretty surprising, but no idea how that would effect a modern car.
I've been a mechanic 43 years Scotty here in the Midwest you can find PB Blaster in any parts store Walmart hardware real popular in the Midwest been using it for years prefer it over WD-40 by a long shot
In rural Iowa, I use Slime all the time, because we have these thorn trees that fill my truck and Jeep tires with thorns and contractors that drop nails. I drive until they wear out and you can not run your hand around the inside of the tire without getting stuck by a pointed object. It does suck in the winter when it gets too cold for the Slime. PB Blaster is the stuff we use all the time in industrial hospital maintenance. Next best thing to acetone and auto trans fluid.
It’s been tough milking enough snakes to refine the oil. PETA wants to shut me down. 🤷♂️😏

Doesn't Sea Foam work as a gasoline stabilizer? That's what I've used it for in the past, but I usually only use it for my small engines. Since I've been using it I haven't had problems with ethanol clogging the carbs.
Do ANY gasoline "stabilizers" actually work? Legit. evidence? Some are just very expensive kerosene. Might get varnish in a small carb by letting gas sit in it for months. Then a little toluene dissolves it quickly.
@@wholeNwon Depends on what you mean by "work." I put it in my mower after my last mow of the year, and it starts up without a problem 6-7 months later. Maybe it would be fine without, but for about $8 I think it's a worthy insurance policy.

i have a 1978 Toyota truck with the wolverine 4x4 package with the original engine, it was rebuilt @ 260,000 miles only problem is the floor in the cab didn't last as long as the floor boards LOL thank you for your videos .
To me, the best way to protect your car's interior is to get UV protective tinted windows, and use a dash reflector.

I'm 17 and my highschool auto tech teacher swears by pb blaster. There's always a can in the shop. Every time we have a stuck bolt it takes it right off. Can't beat it in my opinion it's saved so much time and money for us at the shop.
Wife's car burned 2 quarts of oil between changes. Added restore to old oil about 1500 miles before oil change.( I figured a fresh oil filter might trap most of the product and the old clogged filter would let it bypass) Her rig now only burns about one quart between oil changes. Her car has 224k.

I ran that engine "RESTORE" crap in an old '01 Honda Prelude once. Shortly after putting it in, my oil light started flickering on. I quickly parked it for the evening, and the next morning I changed the oil. I've never done an oil change so quickly in my life. That H series really just needed a rebuild. Fortunately I sold it to someone who wanted to rebuild it, and walked away from it.
Agree, I try both wd40 and PB bluster on rusty a suspension bolts. PB works much better on hard to unscrew nuts and bolts.

Like Scotty, I don't use Armor All. I discovered a silicone based vinyl treatment called SC-1 by Maxim. It is used on dirt bikes and the tag line they use is "New Bike In A Can" and it does make the bike look new!
Years ago a trim shop guy told me to never use Armoral on vinyl. He said the shine is because it actually socks the oils out of your vinyl to the surface. Said it dries it out in short order with regular use.

P.S. I always thought Armour-All seemed mediocre, but what do I know re: car care? Glad to have an expert’s alternative selection, and to realize my vague inklings were valid. AND. I am sensitive to chemicals. So it is again great to gain pointers on a more healthy alternative.
Scotty, I had an issue with my Suzuki 4 stroke injected motorcycle. The problem was that the throttle bodies were gumming up with a brown goo that was making the throttle plates sticky and not return. Scary on a high-powered sport bike. I had been pulling the air filter cover and element out and spraying the throttle bodies with intake cleaner but that would only last about a month or so (and I only rode it about once a week at that time). I got tired of that and started using Sea Foam in my gas, just a couple ounces in each tank (6 gl.) full of gas and I noticed no more sticking throttle so I took the air filter out and looked into the intake runners (bike runners are straight so you can see all the way to the back of the intake valve, and it was spotless. I have been using it for about ten years and no problems since I started.
I used Slime in my lawn tractor tubeless tire and it ate up and corroded the steel wheel so bad it corroded all the way through, and I had to replace it. Unfortunately, I had several bottles and I had to throw it all out.
