    I made my green beans like this for Easter dinner... I also added 2 pieces of fat from the ham. These beans turned out AMAZING! Used 3 28oz cans of the big Italian green beans (flat looking) 6 slices cut up bacon & 3 tables spins sugar. The beans was the Talk of the dinner. Also made your cowboy beans. So so good. I said countryboy cooking with Marshall was at our Easter dinner 😄.

    If you don't want to add bacon, use a little oil (vegetable or light olive oil). It's also good with brown sugar instead of white. The reason you want to cook the water out is that it caramelizes right at the end--but watch it closely because it can burn at that point!

      I saw a recipe the other day cooking just like your recipe with the green beans onions the bacon potatoes and added sausage, sliced kielbasa sausage. The only thing I have to do is not add salt the bacon and sausage add enough to it. Absolutely delicious.

    My mother does her green beans very very similar. There’s only two differences… She fries her bacon first in the pan until it’s almost done. Then she dumps in her green beans with the liquid just like you do. Then she cooks them pretty hard down to almost no liquid just like you do. However she does not add sugar. And her green beans are delicious. I am going to tell her about this so she can add the sugar next time. I want to try it.

    YES! my Momma always cooked her Shellie Beans in Bacon Grease! She fried the bacon in the pot first, then put the shellie beans in and cooked them for over an hour til the liquid cooked off. She always cooked these every Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    The one thing you need to do is put the bacon in the pan and cook the fat out of it but leave in the pan then pour the beans and sugar in the hot pan the flavor from the bacon will be better the liquid in the hot pan will cause the Goodie to release from the bottom of the pan then let cook like you said

    I would have fried and removed the bacon first (while leaving the bacon grease) and drained off half the water before adding the green beans. The green beans are already cooked and don't need to boil for a whole hour before sauteing. Great recipe overall.

      @CountryBoyCookingwithMarshall  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you fry your bacon first you're not gonna get the bacon rendering that makes this good..and Yes boil like I showed..it's part of the technique...but if you've never tried it..I can see why you wouldn't know that~Marshall

      @Tes7000 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CountryBoyCookingwithMarshall I've been making my green beans like this for years, but with whatever cooking oil I have in the house instead of bacon. If I have real bacon pieces (bits) in the refrigerator, I sometimes cook a couple of tablespoons of those to render off the fat before removing the bacon pieces and adding the green beans.
      And please note that I did not say to pour off all the water, but maybe half of it. You only need the green beans to boil for a few minutes (as opposed to an entire hour) before sauteing.
