Tim here, I grow and can my own green beans, along with other things, I grew up in the 50's and 60's with old fashion cooking. You don't see that much anymore. Republic, Misery, I mean Missouri.
Thank you I sure enjoyed your comment! I also apologize for the belated response. I admire you for that, I have been unable to grow a whole lot for the last few years (health) and I love to can as well. I know it, you are so right, I just show how as I was shown growing up and in my case, that is indeed old fashioned, just the way I like it! Misery LOL! I was born and raised in Louisiana, we always referred to it as "Lousyana" Haha! I live in Georgia now for many years. So nice to hear from you! :D
@@Hedy I tell people we had a stack of wooden bushel baskets in the garage they ask what's a bushel? The tomato's were already picked, just swap out the basket, the green beans we had to pick. It took me awhile to fill my bag because I was eating them as I picked them, (we didn't know about pesticides but that explains a few things).lol.
Hey Hedy! Wave 👋 I’m from Florida and the first video I saw of yours was your green bean recipe. Ever since then, it’s been my go to. My family LOVES it! I’ll have to give this version a try too. Thanks!
Well hello! Honey, that is music to my ears! Thank you for that, you have no idea how it warms my heart just knowing that my recipes are actually used LOL. I am truly smiling ear to ear to know how your family loves those green beans! Yes this is good in a pinch when there is no time to make my classic green beans, Sometimes we just don't have time do we on busy week days! Thank you honey for your sweet comment, I truly mean that! :D
I’m always looking for others green bean recipes. They are my favorite vegetable. I’m from Michigan. My entire family is southern though. Dad was born in Arkansas and moms from Virginia.
I definitely think green beans are one of my favorites as well! I bet they have taught you several "southern style" delicious recipes! I love Midwestern cooking as well, I am from Louisiana, but my husband is from Ohio! We live in Georgia for 30+ years now. My MIL taught me a few things Midwestern and I taught her a few things Southern. Both areas are definitely very different but food is yummy! Thank you for taking the time to comment! I just love hearing from y'all! :D
Well, hey right back at you! You are down in the North shore area around Slidell, Mandeville and Covington. I had people from right around the St. Benedict area (long gone now). Thank you so very much honey! I appreciate you saying that so much! I thank you for taking a moment to comment! :D
My sister wilts the heck out of a can of green beans. Canned green beans, balsamic vinegar, sugar, bacon grease, bacon bits, chopped onions, cook tilt very wilted.
Well hello there! Thank you for commenting, I appreciate that! I am originally born and raised in Louisiana but now have lived in Georgia for many years! :D
Hey my friend! Isn't that funny? I did not realize that. You know, I don't think about something like that, assuming everyone eats canned green beans LOL Marie, if you do try, attempt to get you a good quality can or two, as I don't know your choices there in New Zealand. Here in the USA, there are many choices, local brand, store brand, national brands. Plus many styles, whole, cut, French style, Italian style LOL Many to choose from! If you decide to try, please let me know how it went. Do you use bacon grease in cooking there? It is a staple here in the South, but I don't know about elsewhere. As I know you have heard me say many times, my husband is from Ohio. They cook completely different up there for the most part. Delicious recipes, just VERY different from Southern cooking, very Midwestern. Also, Louisiana cooking is even different than some other Southern regions that the same recipes. Georgia recipes can deviate greatly at times from Louisiana. I am used to that now, having lived here in Georgia for so many years now, doesn't change how I grew up cooking though! Isn't that funny? Thank you for always being there and sticking with me, it means a whole lot Marie. OX :D
🙏. ♥️. 🙏. Hi Hedy, let me give you a tip on how to use your induction cooker using any kind of cookware. Since you have to use a pan that’s magnetic on the bottom it to work , get yourself a FLAT black cast iron smooth griddle. Heat it up on your induction cooker and place any type of pot or pan on it and believe me it works. Hope this helps. Im from Florida, what state are you in ?
I first of all, I apologize to you for the late response, I have been dealing with many health issues, this whole year, though I am much better for now. WOW What a GREAT TIP! Never even thought to do that! Thank you so much for sharing that! Guess I will need to locate my Mama's old pancake griddle LOL (It has been missing since we moved a couple of years ago, but that is a story for another time) I have lived in Georgia for 33 years now. I am originally born and raised in Louisiana! So that make us state neighbors! Glad to hear from you! :D
Thanks for sharing. I Can't wait to try.
I am watching from Mansfield, Texas. I love green beans and I'm sure yours will be devious. See ya'll.💜

Canned green beans are not a big thing here in New Zealand . I will have to try them like this as they would be really handy!

I usually cook mine in hamburger grease, or if I was cooking steak, in the pan with about 1/4 of the bean water to deglaze it.
I don’t subscribe if you beg to subscribe. Love the green beans.
Try some duck fat to cook those beans in!
Why can't this video be like 4 minutes?
