Splattercat has caused me to open my wallet more than any other YTer. I also learn about games (like yours, which I now have wishlisted) a lot from this channel.
I've always found goblins and kobolds kind of adorable, and I'm glad I'm not alone. There are a lot of games like this, and even in D&D (and other 'classic' RPGs) it's become acceptable to use them as PC's.
My favourite PC was a Goblin. I love the pathfinder take on them basically being undeservedly confident munchkins with just enough quirks to be weird and wonderful.
Not sure if Splatter Cat Hollow would have fit for a village name, but Splatter Hollow would have been an awesome goblin village name. It was right there my guy.
counter point on the open-back headphones: they're kind of an in-between closed-back headphones and speakers. i prefer them for mixing music as it's more difficult to get things sounding good, but when it sounds good on open-back headphones, it'll more consistently sound good on speakers, in the car, or closed-back headphones. they're also physically easier on your ears by letting the sound waves escape which can lead to ear fatigue which leads to inconsistent mixes
Colony builders usually all look very same-y to me, but this one really stands out and seems like a more engaging experience! EDIT: Never mind. It's actually awful. The goblin AI is terrible, and the game does not do a great job of helping you figure out why things are going wrong when there is a problem. Splat's main criticism of the game hit the nail on the head when he said that the UI was a problem. It's just too cumbersome trying to dig through all the windows to find the information you need, and a lot of basic functionality is weird and bad and hard to figure out.
I like to think Goldentounge has a friendly business rivalry with the dwarves to see who are better at getting the most coinage I hope we can get a series Splattercat

I like these more granular colony simulators, like Kenshi or Rimworld. Its unfortunate dwarf fortress was a flannel graph spreadsheet simulator. This game seems to solidly meet that granular colony simulator vibe, where you are actually immersed with your colonists.
I became well and truly enamored with this game the last time you covered it and immediately threw it in the wish list. The thing is though I'm a cheap old bastard and almost always wait for a decent sale one that really brings the price down. For the most part that has worked relatively well and my library on various platforms has grown because of it. I now have close to 500 games between the various platforms, (Steam and GOG mainly) so I'd say it's working. If you check it right now 3/8/23 the game is on sale for $17.99 which is $2 dollars off it's regular price of $19.99. That's okay but being the cheap old man that I am I waited for what I would call a decent sale which is as a general rule 50% or more off of retail price. I was able to get this game for $11.99 not all that long ago and it goes on sale often. So if you're cheap like me and can wait I'd recommend you do so but if not $2 off isn't terrible and the game is worth it's full price easily. It's gorgeous, fun to play, has a lot of depth and a ton of things to do. So paying even full price for Goblins of Elderstone is a good buy and I highly recommend the game. Just know that if you're patient and can wait it does go on deeper sales regularly or at least it used to prior to full launch release. Another thing to keep in mind is Steam and GOG love competing with each other so you'll find that most of the time they both have the same games on sale and one will have just that little bit higher discount and have the game for a little bit cheaper than the other. I truly hope this book of a post helps someone out there as being someone who at times struggle to just keep the lights on I know how important it is to make every penny count when it comes to your entertainment budget. Open ear headphones are mainly for listening to stuff and appreciating the bigger and airy soundstage, like you're at the place playing the music. Closed ones would be better for isolating the sounds and mixing stuff, like you want.

It's funny how Dwarf Fortress was created by two guys, and to this day, not a single company in the genre has dared challenge their DFs level of detail. I don't blame them, DFs world generation is so damn intimidating to even approach.
@Splattercatgaming regarding headphones, I can recommend the Sennheiser HD 25 on-ear headphones. You can buy replacement parts for every single part of the headphone. And they have a nice and crips sound.
Hi Splatt, if you're looking for great quality, closed back, professional headphones I swapped my DT 770s out for Audio Technica M50x (general listening) and M70x for studio work a year or so ago. Having always used Sony or Beyer in the past I'll not be going back any time soon.
what i really want to see in these kind of summary videos is just a preview for early game, mid game, and late game features. that would be a good way to spend 25 minutes watching. instead of watching from very beginning and always barely even reaching the mid game.

I feel the opposite. I don't like the unnatural closed sound of closed back headphones and much prefer open back for the more natural sound profile. It's preference though of course, one is not inherently better than the other.
And he's explained why. Repeatedly I'm pretty sure: All sorts of other folks have/are covering it, and it didn't/doesn't need more promotion. Even people that don't play in that genre (such as myself) are aware of not only it's existence, but the massive shadow it throws over the genre, just like Rimworld.

Ha! Splat over here explaining how breeding works! Game looks cute but I dont understand the octagonal patterns when they gather from surrounding zones. Would look better on flat terrain or paint the borders with mountainous terrain instead of sharp corners. Making the buildings animate, goblins speak silly, and interaction in cute ways is a Meh when I cant see anything but the octagons that would only serve as a defensive gateway. I hate to say it but it feels like this kind of grid system platform is asset store based as there are so many games using it these days. This just makes the game look cheap and without making the core gameplay SUPER exciting it just falls short. I dont consider DF or RW as perfect in any way but they have their unique traits that make them the benchmark for survivalistic/colony builders and I cant see many comparisons. This game would fall into the AoE type of genre and the octagons really make that a negative in my opinion as there are many games that already do this genre extremely well.
So it seems you always run a game for a(n) couple of hours before you actually record. Wouldn't it be added value if you also record you're first play experience? The exploration aspect of a new game, what does and doesn't work, is part of the experience when anybody playes a new game... Just 2 cents You do a great job at showcasing games and there's a lot of good games and you've also shown us the not so good. Sut sometimes a good game might have tough and rough first time experience which actually draws you into the game.
I bought it and I played it for a couple hours and the art style is nice and there is definitely a game there but .. the UI is rough if you want to find out what is happening, what things do, or why something isn't working. "Rocks" and "Stone" are different resources, for instance. "An adult goblin was added to your tribe" -- who? what are their skills? And attack warnings are announced the same as "will attack soonerierish". Finding the gameplay which is clearly there was just too annoying.
If you like the green-skins you should check out orcs war is Life by luetin09 is a Warhammer 40K lore expert I'd love to hear your thoughts on how the green-skins are depicted in this universe

This reminds me of Stonehearth, a voxel colony/survive game. It has it's bugs and the devs are gone but it was amazing.
There's a mod called ACE that adds and fixes quite a few things. Always a shame when games like that get abandoned.
