1Watched your detailed video and was impressed! Got the Alta hr taken apart, because I wanted to see the size&( no.45, 3.8v) of the battery to order. I now have the confidence to go ahead & order both the battery & face plate as it is cracked/scratched.🤓p.s. My "T1" tool was the sharp tip of my pocket knife-it works ! I'm a little concerned with the soldering part, ahead of me !
Very well done! Thank you. You have a gift for explaining things. I’m going to buy a new Fitbit for my wife because I know I cannot do it as easy as you did. But I really do appreciate the detail you went into. Thanks again!
Just wanted to say thanks for posting this. I thought I was going to have to just toss my Fitbit. I just put in the order for the replacement battery and the tools.
If you do this procedure and then your Fitbit will only stay on while on the charger, you accidentally blew a fuse in the Fitbit when soldering. You need a magnifying glass to see, but there are two solder points on the circuit board labeled "F1". Those are the leads from the fuse mounted on the bottom side of the board. It's not worth trying to replace the fuse. Just add a drop of solder across the leads for F1 to bypass it. Be careful not to use any significant pressure while doing this because you could push the fuse out. In my case, I thought I had gotten a bad replacement battery until I put the old one back in and it was exhibiting the same "only works on charger" behavior. After reinstalling the new battery and bypassing the fuse I'm back in business with multi-day battery life.
Aha… THANK YOU FOR THIS COMMENT! I never replaced my battery, but I may have accidentally plugged the Fitbit into the wrong charger port… and that blew the fuse. 😕Hopefully I can fix it! Thanks for all of your information about what went wrong.
Hey! Thank you so much for this video. I’m considering replacing my Alta battery as it only holds charge for a few hours. Question: where can I acquire the soldering tool that you used in this video? Thanks so much.
Very good demo but for my dead Fitbit it would be awesome if you could do this with the Alta HR. Alta HR internal parts are very different and the battery is different from the Alta you are showing here. I discovered it yesterday when I took my Alta HR apart. Thanks!
Help! Please my Fitbit turns on only when it's plugged into the outlet and only charges halfway. When I disconnect from Outlet it turns off and won't turn on unless I replug. Do I need to replace battery? Thankyou
Hi, I have Fitbit Alta It always power off when it’s out of the charger, but don’t have any problem as long as it’s plugged. Do you know what might be the problem?
I'm having this same problem with a new Alta. After removing from charger it may turn off in a matter of minutes or may take several hours, but eventually shuts off and won't come back on again until I plug into the charger again.
Depending on how old your battery is, it may not be holding charge any more, so it's due for a replacement. If it's a newer battery, then it might be a different issue, but I couldn't say.
Great video. I just attempted to change out my battery as you explained, plugged it in and saw the fitbit icon light up as if it were charging but then nothing. I took it apart again and plugged it in moving the motherboard around a little and feel it vibrate, but the display is not doing anything. Any suggestions?
@@daynawalters1031 Same thing happened to me. I got the buzz when I attached the charger, but no display. App showed steps accumulating. I disassembled, resoldered, assembled, tested three times but was never able to get the display working again. I even pulled the display connector out and pushed it back in firmly into its white connector. Still no display. Ended up throwing it away, sadly.
I'm not sure to be honest. It's possible that the battery was completely drained. My main goal was to just show the replacement process in case it helps others. I don't actually use this Fitbit any more so I don't charge it regularly.
Hello, thank you for the video. I do need a replacement battery I’ve had the white since 2016 so it finally burned out. I’m not able to work on the watch with my hands I would need to have someone do that for me. Do you know of anyone once I get help from?
Hello Alex, great video. My question is did your fitbit work after battery replacement? Did it work at all before replacing the battery? The reason for my question is because my fitbit is completely dead, it does not power up at all even plugged in, so I am not sure if replacing the battery would help...
The battery is 36mAh and 3.7V. Unfortunately I do not have the physical dimensions, but I have a link in the description that takes you to the one I purchased from Amazon as a replacement.
@@AlexInFlatland GM. Have tried to source the battery for Fitbit Alta from the link you had provided but it says that they don't have supplies. How one could procure the battery then, pl.
Yeah sorry about that. Looking back at it, the lighting was not great, and the camera kept going out of focus. I'm definitely trying to increase my production value in my later videos. Thanks for the feedback.

Excellent ,very patient demo. Even a kid can understand. Hats off and thanks.

you really made it easy under 15 minutes it would've taken me 15 days
Glad you found it useful!
Excellent video! Done slowly, carefully, and easy to understand. Every detail attended to. Thank you!
I'm glad you liked it!
Excellent job showing how to replace your battery in the Fitbit ultra!
Just wanted to say thanks for posting this. I thought I was going to have to just toss my Fitbit. I just put in the order for the replacement battery and the tools.
What a brilliant video! Every step and precaution mentioned.
A very clear video, so much detail, well done. Thank you from the UK
Glad it was helpful!

Very good instructions. I am going to try it. Worse case scenario, I buy a new one! Thank you!

Excellent presentation. Thank you.
thank you soo much , very useful video , very useful tips especially at the final assembly phase and those critical details you provided

I'll see if I can find an Alta HR and do a video on it. Or at the very least if I can find some information online I'll post it here.
@Patricia Dodd, I got my hands on an Alta HR. Expect a video on it soon if you haven't found one already.

Funny thing is, I logged onto my Fitbit app and it is charging and counting steps. Seems the display is just not working, but not sure why?

Thanks Alex. I was expecing the Fitbit to be turning on several times as you connected the battery and reassembled it all. Why didn't it?

Sorry for the long overdue answer. Yes my fitbit worked before and after. It's just that the battery life before the swap was terrible.
Had same issue with my Inspire HR, no screws. If it is waterproof, you have to use blowdryer/heat gun!
Do you have the battery reference?
I'm not sure I understand what you mean? Are you asking for the battery model number?
What are the specifications of the battery like V, mAH, and dimensions?

Alex can you replace Fitbit Alta battery for me
Will you change the battery for me? I would mail my fitbit to you.
My fitting has 2 screws not 1
screwdriver size please 😄
I think he states T2 (Torx #2) in the video. I believe I used a T3 unless my cheap Chinese tool set was mislabeled.

Why are you taking out ur battery
Well, I replaced it prior to realizing it might help someone if I made a video. So I took it out again just for completeness.

What a poor design on battery replacement. Design for new model sale.
Absolutely! Unfortunately, too many companies to this these days. :(
