Was blessed with the opportunity to try my friends Father’s Day 2024 drop last weekend. Got a heavy hit of Texas Roadhouse cinnamon butter + heavy brown sugar and marshmallow palate. #PHENOMENAL 👌🥃💪
Yeah, it’s bs, especially when they release 7, 10, & 11yr barrels all at the same price??? As long as ppl are willing to buy them for $600-$1k on secondary though, I guess it’s hard to fault the distilleries too much for raising the price. I’ll just wait for the next glut and crash though lol.
Yeah….i cannot justify paying more than $80 for a single bottle. I just dont have enough money to be able to piss away $100+ for a bottle of alcohol. I love bourbon, but i have actually been drinking rum during the spring and summer months. There are 12-18 year aged stamped rums that cost less than $80 for a bottle. sugarcane takes waaaay less time to mature than white oak trees, and they can be aged in used barrels that make it taste just as good , smoky and oaky as your premium bourbons. I’ll just stick with my $30-80 budget. There are some great sippers in that price range that have won awards and beat out more expensive bourbons in blind tastings. I’ll just settle for my woodford double oak and OF 1910 and my craft bourbons from georgia (13th colony and Moonrise).
They lasted a while online due to the virtual queue. There didn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason to how the queue was ordered (my friend got one and I didn’t, even though he was behind me in the queue), but they at least didn’t insta sell out like most online drops
Great show as always! It's always nice to hear about the existence of great bourbon offerings. One never knows when they might win the lottery, so knowledge like this is always great to retain for any such time. I must admit, I do enjoy storming the Brown Forman, as I am at the moment! The only difference is that I generally only find the usual suspects: OF 1910, 1920, Cooper's Craft, Jack Daniel Single Barrel Cask Strength, and OF Single Barrel Cask Strength. It would be nice if there were more bourbons like this were available on everyday shelves but, I guess it is what it is. Enjoy and cheers!
would be interesting if your interview with the new master distiller reveals any changes in mash bills, barrel companies or any other step in their process that has altered the taste of their products such as 1920.
I will agree it is some of the best OF I've ever tasted. They dropped like 12 barrels on Father's Day, and i think 3 Barrels earlier this Spring online, so hopefully this will be a bit more available than in the past.
Dang! Ya gotta be a baller with two? 😂 Must be nice! Every time I’ve been to OF in KY, it’s been a bust. They should at the very least have a Single Barrel available for tour participants. Thanks Jason. Enjoy!
I'll go on record that my wife and I both got bottles online - we got several different ones and so far I've cracked open one. It's really REALLY good. None of mine are going to end up on the secondary, they'll be shared and drank.
Mash & Drum, Brewsle and The Bourbon Judge are my 3 favorite Y-Tubers for bourbon! Great content here Jason, I say 1) OF 1924, 2) OF PC and 3) Birthday Bourbon…up the great work/content/reviews!
That 10 summ(a)ers one sounds right up my alley. My brother-in-law got an OF SiB a couple years back 124 proof and just beautiful dark rich flavors. Not hot like most of the SiB's now 😂
Was not one of the lucky ones. lol. Like to know though exactly what the hype is about so still appreciate the review but even more love the history and details.
Kind of like King of Kentucky these are pretty much Kentucky only or distillery only so unless I am in Kentucky on a whim I pretty much have to take a deep breath and understand I will never own one unless I want to shell out a pretty penny on secondary.
Crazy to see what people are paying for sub 10 year old whiskey. No whiskey under 10 years is worth $225, sorry I just won't do it. There is a small distillery in my area pumping out bottles that are better than president's choice, far older, and far more unique for sub $100. I'll take 2 of these bottles (which come in multiple mashbills) instead... and when you factor what it takes on secondary to get President's Choice... HAHAHAHA. I'm also lucky enough to have friends who acquired a few President's choice this year and I've sampled their bottles. Yep, good whiskey. Not worth going insane to acquire. It's better than most Whiskey row... but that's mostly the nose. The palate isn't that far off a 1910 on some of the barrels that they have released over the past 12 months. These are supposed to be the best of the best from OF but somehow they are just more of the best of the best nose... and the palate, well it's good. It's OF with a little less nuttiness/maple and a little more fruit and oak. The younger batches lack the depth but somehow still have the oak which is odd. The rate they have picked President's Choice barrels lately is just a bit wild.
$250 the one time I saw it. One was 9yo the other 10yo. I said what $250 for a 9 or 10yo!?!? So I didn't even look into them. Gone next time I went so I guess if someone will pay it they will ask it.
Picked up batch 71 in Louisville last weekend. 11 years old. Honestly, one of the best bourbons I've ever tasted. Better than any BTAC I've tried.
I just got one after my NBITM tour today. It’s truly an incredible pour.

$85 to $225.........I can not justify that for any reason. The prices are totally out of hand.

Yeah, it’s pointless to me to watch this. I’ll never be able to get this so why bother.

What's a good rum for a bourbon drinker? I'd love to start exploring some of the rum offerings.@@jaypenha5352
I mean I agree, but how much inflation have you seen on other products? How much has the value of your house changed? It all sucks.

I had the exact same experience. I'm glad they are trying to improve the buying process, but there was no logic to who got in first from the queue.

OF1924 is superb. My favorite OF product to date.
In Louisville for the trail in April and our first stop on a Thursday afternoon was OF and Presidential just dropped. Wish I bought more.

I don’t put much thought into the super limited releases from any brand but I do want to try a pour of a President’s Choice one of these days

@@TheMashandDrum You ever make it out to Central KY let me know and you're welcome to enjoy anything I got.
I got a barrel 55. Can't wait to try it.
But the question is can it hold up to batches 1-3 of the old forester 150th anniversary
Fantastic bottle. I was able to grab one on a tour recently. The tour guide did confirm that they are not barrel proof though.

Really enjoy the review of yet another bottle I’ll never see. Sour grapes perhaps, but still enjoy the history and review,

President's Choice is so good. Really enjoy it, I was able to get #57 online!
How does this compare to the 150th anniversary series? Always thought the 150 were poor man’s PC.
Happy Birthday Jason, cheers from evergreen liquor from two days ago 🍻
People complaining about the MSRP on this are insane to me. For me it would be like whining if BTAC was $229 or whatever.
Definitely one of my unicorns! Thanks for the history and reviews!
Great video! Hope to find one soon
Dream bottle. Maybe one day
How does OFPC compare to GTS? It looks like the secondary prices are comparable.
Was not one of the lucky ones. lol. Like to know though exactly what the hype is about so still appreciate the review but even more love the history and details.
WHISKEY CHEERS 🍻
If you could choose only one to drink at MSRP, which would you choose? OF President's Choice or Van Winkle 12 Year.
@@davidvoth7218 the 12 summer presidents choice I got to try is absolutely above and beyond lot B.
@@TheMashandDrumso they also have a 12 summer?
@@davidvoth7218 yeah it was released around father's day

10 summahs is fine to say from a bourbon drinker from Boston! Lol!

They are not barrel proof. They proof them down to profile. All are around the same proof range.
Hunt starts now 😅😅😅
So that's where all the good 1920 barrels went, to the Presidents choice, lol
Not taking a chance for 225. That's just me
Birthday Bourbon is such a disappointment dont see the point of buying one over a PC
Not worth the hunt for me.
Love mine worth every penny and hoping to track down more different barrels 🔥
