I have several bottles that were purchased only about 7 years ago for under $40.00 that are now impossible to find such as Rock Hill Farms and Elmer T. Lee. There is no reason to chase allocated bourbons when there are so many good bourbons under $60.00 that are on the shelf everyday. Great List!

A rather delicious way to start a collection. I've been enjoying bourbon for over 40 years, but only began collecting it during the pandemic. I've had about half of these on my shelf in the last year.

I loved watching this because I have a list of “10 Bourbons to start with” that I made to share with friends getting into bourbon. I got my list as I watched and 7 of them were exactly the same. It’s great your $400 list had exactly 10. The three that were different were: you had Makers 46, EH Taylor SB (still hard to find in N Texas), and G Remus (I have a full proof GR that I love). My three that were different that I had were: WT Rare Breed (nothing wrong with 2 Turkey’s), 1792 Small Batch, and Regular Buffalo Trace. Great list for people starting to learn about bourbon. I tell them to subscribe to your channel too and they will pick up a lot. Cheers 🥃
You pretty much nailed it... Larceny could have been included as well as Old Grand Dad 114... Also, Uncle Nearest,, a good, or great budget pour.. These three are all easily found, and very reasonably priced.
Glad you mentioned Wild Turkey 101. I used to be a night watchman at a Power Plant and when it got freezing cold out at night, 101 was the juice that kept me warm. Blanket in a bottle. I can still purchase a liter for around $20 bucks . Good stuff and thanks for the video.
Just found your channel. Thanks for the such great list! I especially enjoyed the stories behind the bottle. I finally found my first bottle of Eagle Rare. Can't wait to share!

I live in Lexington Ky and have never had a chance to try Blanton's much less buy a bottle. (I'm not paying secondhand prices.) I was purchasing a bottle of Knob Creek at a local liquor store and at checkout I asked if he ever gets any Blanton's. Dude went to the back and brought out a bottle in the box. Bought it retail for 54.99. Chalk it up to luck, timing, and a nice guy. I was also the only one in the store.
Good enough to make me subscribe. 50+ years of experience dabbling with whiskey and this list sounds pretty good to me. Too bad Weller is so hard to find nowadays though.
Other than the Remus, which I've never seen on a shelf, I always keep the rest of the list in my collection. This list is a great variety of flavors that anyone can appreciate.
Thank you for putting Four Roses Single Barrel on the list. I bought a bottle of it on a whim last year, and have been loving it ever since. It costs about $50 here in Oregon. I have been pining to try Old Forester 1920. After this vid, it's top of the list. Woodford Reserve Double Oaked isn't available at one store in this state...there's far more Blanton's available out here. I will stay local with Woodinville Straight Bourbon.
That’s interesting, I see Woodford Double Oaked pretty consistently around Portland liquor stores. Where are you seeing Blantons? Would love to pick one up, been a couple years since I’ve seen it.
I have all of these, and have to agree with you. Eagle Rare is tough to find unless other more "Tatered" bottles drop at the same time. Like recently in January during EHTBP drop week, in Ohio. Blanton's also dropped and allowed me to show up 20 minutes before open and still get 1. As you may guess- I am in Ohio.
While I don't consider myself a rookie and I have 90% of this list...I really appreciate your thorough intro to each brand and its origin story. Nice work

Yesterday I got my first bottle of buffalo trace and it’s grate. I’ve tried the usual whiskeys, and bourbon is my younger days, but now I’m getting into more flavorful and smooth bourbon.
As a relative new bourbon drinker (Covid 19 hobby/obsession) l've had bottles of 7 of the 11. Of those, there is just one that l keep in the rotation; Old Forester 1920 (available & delicious). I've been augmenting/ rotating that with whatever my local bottle shop has available; Baker's 7 year, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, Noah's Mill & 4 Rose's single barrel. The point being for me; 2 bottles in the house are enough.
I will now have to look even harder for G. Remus to complete these 11. It was next on my list anyway but nowhere nearby. Loved the video. Will forward to others.
The collection is GREAT. My only issue is that E.H. Taylor and Eagle Rare are allocated in my arear. To hard to get a hold of. I love the list still. tried most of them...
Thank you! Been drinking Bulleit for years and decided this year to branch out and explore. I buy one bottle at a time, and this video will save me so much time as I hunt around for my perfect bourbon.
Been into bourbon for about two years here, just spent under $400 on these nine bottles before I saw this video, there’s actually overlap between four of your selections: Old Forester 1920 Woodford Double Oaked Makers 46 Wild Turkey 101 (went for the rye though) Russell’s Reserve 10 yr Weller Special Reserve Michters Sour Mash Mellow Corn (for the budget pick) Makers Cask Strength Store Pick (bit of a splurge/gamble) Cheers!
I have 8 of the 10 you recommended but for whatever reason Buffalo Trace products (Eagle Rare and JH Taylor) are very hard to come by in the area that I live.
9:35 I'm a scotch drinker, new to bourbon. Eagle Rare has been my first favorite, but contrary to your comment at 10:19, it has not been easy for me to find. I'm hoarding an unopened bottle while I try some others. This is an excellent, very informative video. I'd like to see you do one that lists brands that are easy enough to find that I don't have to be afraid to choose one as a daily sip. Incidentally, George Remus is a minor hero of mine. An experienced trial lawyer, he studied the Volstead Act intensively, and probably knew it better than anyone else in the country. It's hard to draft legislation that does what the authors want it to do, as evidenced by Volstead and Remus.
I was looking around TH-cam for bourbon channels and came across this video… I have about 10 different bourbons and want to create a bigger nicer collection so I decided to listen to your list. Very good video with excellent detailed information about each bourbon. I only have two of the ten you mention although the other 8 are on my list… But I will say I was gifted a bottle of Blanton’s so there’s that! Almost impossible to find eagle rare or Blanton’s in my area. Great video, look forward in watch more of your videos!
Probably the best of the lists of these I’ve watched. I was wondering if my Woodford Double would make it and it did. If someone can’t find something they like here, they need to drink the clear stuff
Great Video! I would love to see this series expanded with a video for Intermediate collectors(adding in some rye whiskey, store picks, BP etc). Then after that a video for the serious collector!
Just watched this and I am glad I did. In Memphis and just picked up Eagle, Taylor, Weller SR, and Blantons. Going to go back to my store this week and get the Four Roses OBSV which is a store pick at my store! Awesome. Thank you for this great video as i cannot get most of these back home in Northern Virginia.
This is probably my favorite bourbon video. What a great list. I’m glad I have a few of these bottles in my beginner bourbon collection. Very educational.
Jason, I spied that Knob 25th Anniversary! I had a pour of that and I'm pretty sure it changed my life. 😉 Huge roasted peanut flavors compared other Knob Creeks. So so good.
This is a great list! If you can't find George Remus in your area, I think 1792 Small Batch would be a good replacement since I don't think there was anything from Barton on the list.
The way you seamlessly weave in the history with the profile with your own personal commentary makes for a very quick 25 minutes! Happy to say I’ve got 10 of 11 on the shelf (Uncle Remus... Where are you???). Well done!
Thanks for the review. A local Distillery by me makes and interesting Bourbon. Distillery " Twelve 33". The Bourbon's called "Big Six". A South Carolina favorite.

Definitely a solid start. The Remus is the only one I haven’t gotten to try yet. At $47, Blantons is a damn good pour. At the current going price of $80+, it’s robbery with 1920 readily available for $60. The knob creek is also very slept on. One of my all time favorite bottles at that price point.

Been into bourbon for about two years here, just spent under $400 on these nine bottles before I saw this video, there’s actually overlap between four of your selections:
Old Forester 1920
Woodford Double Oaked
Makers 46
Wild Turkey 101 (went for the rye though)
Russell’s Reserve 10 yr
Weller Special Reserve
Michters Sour Mash
Mellow Corn (for the budget pick)
Makers Cask Strength Store Pick (bit of a splurge/gamble)
Cheers!
This is not easy to find....at all. In NC anyway, it's virtually impossible to find. By far, one of my favorite bourbon.
For an MGP I love Bulleit as a beginner bourbon. For a bourbon outside KY, TX is coming out with a lot that I look forward to trying.
I was looking around TH-cam for bourbon channels and came across this video…
I have about 10 different bourbons and want to create a bigger nicer collection so I decided to listen to your list.
I have all of them except Remus and Colonel Taylor, I have searched for the Colonel for ten years. Great collection and video.
I also favor Jameson Irish whiskey, and Johnnie Walker gold reserve scotch whiskey 😋
Appreciate this. Good blending of history with your recommendations.
I have everything but the Remus. I'll have to pick that one up. Love the whiskey room. Very nice.
I didn't realize i had a 400$ collection minus Remus one. Nice
On it!
And the crowd goes...
... for another sip!
+1 to this request!
Good live stream last nite, these beat most ANYTHING in the $100 price range IMO 👌
Excellent video Jason! I would have a hard time arguing your selection and you narration was superb. Very well done!
This is probably my favorite bourbon video. What a great list. I’m glad I have a few of these bottles in my beginner bourbon collection.
Very educational.
I own, have tried or have all of these on my list. Great rundown
Jason, I spied that Knob 25th Anniversary! I had a pour of that and I'm pretty sure it changed my life. 😉 Huge roasted peanut flavors compared other Knob Creeks. So so good.
1920, Eagle rare, Knob Creek are some of my favs
This is a great list! If you can't find George Remus in your area, I think 1792 Small Batch would be a good replacement since I don't think there was anything from Barton on the list.
As a beginner, I really enjoyed this. It's obvious how much work you put into this. Thanks for doing it!
Nice line-up even for today, thanks!
Great list, time to go shopping is right! - 💪🏻
You really need to just buy one bottle of Blantons. After you finish it just fill it with a blend of Benchmark and John J Bowman Sib.
Michters US 1
Ancient Ancient Age 10 star is closer to the Blanton's profile and that's what I do.
😂
Solid list!
Retailers will mark the Blantons up to almost $200 and the EHT to $175. There is a great app to use while bourbon hunting to see msrp.
Thoroughly agree with all of your selections with the exception of the Knob Creek 9 year old which I find undrinkable...
I go to Europe quite a bit I mainly see Jack Daniels and Jim Beam I think I only seen Four Roses products twice and that was in the high tourist areas and York and in London
Great video as usual, loved the view of your massive collection but you knocked me out my chair with Blantons 🤣🤣🤣...cheers.
I know I know. Its historical and that's why. Lol.
@@TheMashandDrum I am glad you did. It's the second bourbon I fell in love with. Scored a bottle in Tennessee 2 weeks ago. I still like it no matter what anyone says but thanks to your channel, I also discovered Russell's 10 year, Wild Turkey 101 and Eagle Rare and Evan William's Single barrel
Really like the video. I am a beginner and want to learn more but wanted to get your take on Canadian whisky. Obviously Crown is a favorite but I really enjoy Seagrams VO plastic bottle whisky as a mixer.
Definitely a solid start. The Remus is the only one I haven’t gotten to try yet. At $47, Blantons is a damn good pour. At the current going price of $80+, it’s robbery with 1920 readily available for $60. The knob creek is also very slept on. I’ve had the good fortune to do a barrel pick with knob creek abs even have the barrel select box of uncut samples. A great 12-15 kc sbs for $60 at 120 proof is a steal imo. One of my all time favorite bottles at that price point.
